Dear all,
Welcome back to the last lap of the academic year!
In the last term, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the
founding of NationalHigh Jakarta School and formally
introduced the new school anthem to the community.
Moving forward, we will commit to realising our collective
PIAGET vision of Creating a better world through education
vis our mission of Nurturing our young into good sons and
daughters, lifelong learners and active citizens, grounded in
values.
To nurture our young charges, we will need a better interface
with our stakeholders such as parents and work seamlessly to
imbibe in them the right values, attitude and habits. As we
transit from the pandemic to the post-pandemic world, we
need to ensure our children are well-prepared and enabled to
deal with the changes and challenges.
In Term 4, we will implement full opening of the school. The
degree of success for the opening is dependent on the
discipline of the children, parents and staff. Of which, the
discipline to be socially responsible in practising a high
standard of safety and hygiene is important. Parents need to
cooperate by following the school protocol not to get down
from their vehicles when picking up or dropping off their
children. The children need to tune back into learning in the
physical classroom. The staff needs to adjust their teaching
and learning practices to meet the learning needs of the
children in their classes.
As the skies open for air travel, everyone inevitably itches to
taste flying again and to savour the joy of traveling to a
distant land. However, as we plan for the coming Lebaran and
long year-end vacation, let us observe a high standard of
safety and hygiene to keep ourselves safe for our families. It is
tempting to discard the mask but it is so far the most
effective protection against any form of infections. So, mask
up and enjoy responsibly!

English Week 2022: Primary Division
English Week 2022 kicked off at NationalHigh
Jakarta School on the 14th-18th March. The
celebration included inspiring speeches by
several published authors who used to call NH
Primary their second home. A soon-to-be-
published writer, Kaniya Alensky Nathalie of
Y6E, also gave some words of encouragement.
NH has continued to nurture education partners
and will reactivate the overseas immersion once
conditions allow it. As of now, we can only do so
virtually. The forging of friendships and networks
also allows us to have better cultural empathy
and understanding. For students involved in the
virtual immersions with West Spring Primary
School, Rosyth School and Tanjong Katong
Secondary School, we hope you will be able to
capitalise on the opportunity and be good
ambassadors for the school and Indonesia.
Term 4 is also the notorious term for
assessment. The Cambridge examinations will
be done onsite. The same applies to our internal
examinations. These assessments should be
deemed as an assessment for understanding
and hence wherever possible, students should
clarify their doubts and lack of understanding. I
beseech students to clarify their doubts in class
and consistently practice the application of
knowledge to ensure a better understanding of
the subject matter.
We hope with full opening, all students will
return and have the opportunity to socialise as
well as rebuild friendships with classmates and
peers. It has been two years of online learning
and we hope this year ends well!
Take care and have an enjoyable Term 4.

Secondary English Departmentcelebrates the 2022 English Week
The Secondary English Department of
NationalHigh Jakarta School recently organised
the English Week Celebration from March 14-18,
2022. This year’s theme, 'Navigating a post-
pandemic world through language and
technology', speaks volumes about our
individual struggles and victories and how we
survived the pandemic through the power of
education.
During the closing ceremony on the 18th of
March, the innovative minds, creative ideas,
research skills and English language prowess of
the Secondary and JC students were
recognised, honoured and celebrated in various
events and competitions.
Click here for detail events and competitions
which have been a part of English Week 2022.
The opening ceremony on the 15th of March
was graced by Ms Kerry Jade, this year's Miss
Face of Humanity USA and founder of Earth
Angel which focuses on the victims of child and
human trafficking, who talked about the
importance of the English language in fostering
intercultural communication and peace. The
Virtual Library of Student Projects was also
launched during the event, which serves as a
repository of the students’ best work.
The week-long celebration culminated with
another international speaker, Dr Sharmila
Parmanand, who finished her doctorate at the
University of Cambridge, UK and teaches
Gender and Human Rights at the London
School of Economics and Political Science. She
is also a lecturer at the University of Vermont
Department of Theatre and the Ateneo de
Manila University Department of English and
Literature. In her speech, she stressed the
importance of being responsible with the reach
afforded by access to technology and the
internet as a platform for advocacy and sharing
messages. She also highlighted the role of
language and technology in helping students
become agents of change.

Care4Care Week
Over two years have passed without Friendship
Week, a pre-pandemic trademark event of the
Student Council where students and teachers
participate in the joyous activity of gift-giving.
However, to revive this spirit of friendship and
appreciation, the Student Council finally
organised Care4Care Week, the pre-orders were
held between 12-19 March, 2022.
During this week, students and teachers
purchased a wide array of alluring items as gifts
for their friends and peers. This included a pair
of savoury chocolate chip cookies, a delicately
soft brownie, a customised friendship bracelet,
and the classic stuffed teddy bear. This was also
the first time cake decorating kits and stunning
roses were up for sale. In an exciting twist to the
event, the Student Council also featured a giant
teddy bear giveaway, after all, who wouldn’t
want a metre tall teddy bear for free?
Students warmly greeted the receptionists
between 09.30 and 15.30 on 28-29 March 2022,
excitedly waiting for any gifts. Meanwhile,
delivery commenced between 28 March and 1
April.
Overall, the event has been fairly successful, with
numerous orders and a great execution of
logistics. All proceeds will be going towards
Yayasan Cinta Harapan, an organisation
dedicated to providing education for children
with special needs.

Student Council members in campus to package orders, 26 March 2022
As the pre-orders began, excited students and
teachers took no time to flood the forms with
orders for their friends and family. This spirit of
appreciation was also shown by the Student
Council members themselves as many sent gifts
to each other. Some Student Council members
even spent a weekend to package and organise
the orders.
The last batch of orders waiting to be picked up, 29 March 2022.
Mission accomplished: delivered to doorstep.
After all, “Giving is not just about making adonation. It is about making a difference.”-Kathy Calvin
Thank you for your continued support of
Care4Care Week, and we’ll see you soon!
