CURRY.The New Mexican has Information
from Washington which Is clear and
straight to the point. There Is no
question of the confirmation of Qfernor George Curry as executive of
New Mexico and none whatever of afavorable report of the nomination bythe Senate committee on territoriesimmediately after the holiday recess. The New Mexican's Information Is re-
liable and Is to the effect that therewas but one member of the Senatecommittee who desired to hold overthe nomination for a single day andthat on the day when the nom-
ination was being considered this sen-
ator was absent and the second daythereafter the Senate adjourned forthe holidays. The nomination was heldover simply as a matter of courtesy tothe absent Senator. There are no
charges against Governor Curry atthis time either In the Senate com-
mittee or in the department of the In-
terior. There are no facts whateverand no occurrences or events in thelife and private and public career ofGovernor Curry whereupon to baseany truthful or serious allegations ofany dishonorable or improper act orof any Impulse or sentiment not In ac-
cordance with the dictates of truth, honor and a strict and energetic per-formance of every duty which cameto Governor Curry In official or priv-ate life from boyhood up.
The affair will simmer down to a
very" insignificant proportion so theNew Mexican fully believes from in-
formation which it has received andfrom the circumstances In the case. Atany rate the people of New Mexicoen fnasse will stand by Governor Curryhrough thick and thin. They were
more than pleased when it was an-
nounced by the President that GeorgeCurry had been chosen as the govern-or of New Mexico and have certainlyshown their gratification and apprecia-tion since the governor's appointmentin 'no uncertain manner but in a waythat ' can easily be understood andmust bo fully recognized. Governor
Curry will remain executive of theSunshine Territory never fear, andProvidence willing until statehoodcomes and he is superceded by thegovernor of the state of New Mexicoor until he voluntarily retires fromoffice. The people do not even careto contemplate the latter contingency.Statehood they want and GovernorCurry wants ft with them. He has an-
nounced and that unequivocally andopenly that It will be one of thegreatest pleasures of his life to retirefrom office to give room to thetlve of the state of New Mexico duly
'elected by the people of New Mexicoand will gladly and cheerfully shakethe hand of his successor and give himmost cordial support and help the newofficial no matter what his name.
In connection with the fixed beliefof the New Mexldan that GovernorCurry will be confirmed promptly Im-
mediately upon the reassembling ofthe Sixtieth Congress the New Mexi-can quotes editorially upon the sub-

"The action of the United StatesSenate in refusing to confirm thenomination of George Curry for gov-ernor of this territory, before theholiday recess, is another evidenceof the fact that statehood is the onlyrelief for New Mexico. parties, and has done more for thereal good of the territory than Mrv
