Disruptive technologies
• From business point of view:
– We call a technology disruptive if it changes the rules of the business
– It is normally done by affecting several fields before occupied by one or few stakeholders
– When technology enters it affects to those stakeholders that should agree to use it creating a new way of making business

Why an Electric Car? Original reasons
As a measure against the Pollution, including noise
Free the society of the dependence on the oil
Cost of electricity used is a fraction of fossil fuel
Use the most efficient way to move a vehicle
Optimize the Electricity supply
Be apart of the equation:
Electric power produced = Electric power consumed (no storage)

Why an Electric Car? Newer reasons
As a measure against the Pollution, including noise and Global Warming
Free the society of the EXTREME dependence on the oil
Cost of electricity used is a SMALL fraction of fossil fuel
Use the most efficient way to move a vehicle
Accomplish the exigences of environmental regulations in advanced countries … (EURO 6, CAFE)
Optimize the Electricity supply
Be apart of the equation:
Electric power produced = Electric power consumed (no storage)
Maximize renewable energy use

Pollution: Acid generating emissionsNO2, NOx, NH3
Madrid City emissions of these type of gasses is due mainly to road transport

Global Warming: CO2 emissions(Well to Wheel)

Electric Energy cannot be storedin large quantities
• Renewables: depend on weather circumstances. It their energy cannot be used when produced, they are disconnected

EVs will create the conditionsfor a top usage of renewables
• In the future:
• Electric vehicles will store the energy from renewables when it is no consumption.
V2G systems will allow to
return it to electric grid when
it is necessary equalizing
demand
V2M and V2H systems will
ease to do it at local level
