Degree. The Govt. of Bihar re-opened the institute in the year 2008 for all around development
of Magadh region. Now, it is a public institute under the name “Gaya College of Engineering,
Gaya. It was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Bihar, Sri Nitish Kumar on 19th
November 2008 in the presence of renowned dignitaries and educationalists at a function held in
the college. GCE Gaya is one of the few institute in Bihar which has been selected for TEQIP-
III, a World Bank Assisted Project under MHRD, New Delhi.
The year 2018 is a glorious one in the history of the college, GCE got 30 faculty members from
NPIU (A Statutory Body of MHRD) under TEQIP-III and 8 faculties from Bihar Public Service
Commission in all the departments. Recently, Gaya College of Engineering, signed Twinning

Principal’s Message
The institution has been continuously playing an important
role in shaping the career of young students of Bihar. The
Institution has produced distinguished Engineers and
Technocrats in the past. In the past 10 years, GCE Gaya has
earned fame and recognition due to the success of our
Alumni.
Now, the world around us is changing very fast. The
technology has expanded beyond our imagination in the past
three decades. In the present day, Technical Education has
become borderless which promotes virtual, interactive and
collaborative learning. We should be prepared to face the
world and compete with the quality of technology education
in Global arena. Technical Education enables our students to
play more effective role in global knowledge economy and global job markets. Technical
Education is going to remain the topmost preferred career in India and abroad in coming days.
WTO mandate under general agreement on Trade in Services(GATS), Technical education is
treated as globally tradable services. Thus, it is linked with global supply chain link of
employment resulting in fair and equitable treatment to all our engineers on principle of non-
discrimination.
Recently, India has become the permanent signatory of the Washington Accord on 13th June
2014. The membership of Washington Accord is an international recognition of the quality of
undergraduate engineering education offered by the member country and is an avenue to bring it
into the world class category. It encourages and facilitates the mobility of engineering graduates
and professional at International level. In response to Washington Accord, the National Board of
Accreditation (NBA) has been setup by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for
the recognition of the Technical education programme. It is time to prepare ourselves and make
strategy to compete with the changing world and Technology with forward looking ideas to
transform GCE Gaya as NBA accredited Institution at the earliest.

BoG & COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION
Board of Governors(BoG):
The board of governors for a college is a governing board, not a management board. The board is
responsible for defining the role and mission of the college and, thereby, setting the strategic
directions for the college to achieve. The board of governors has responsibility for fiduciary
oversight and institutional performance. All of its decision and policies are made for the best
interest of the institution, not for particular constituents.

Basic Science & Humanities
The Department of Sciences and Humanities since its inception has been the foremost center for
learning basic principles of various disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and
Communicative English, so that students proceed to rest of their years of study with up to date
knowledge and training of basic engineering skills. Engineering is concerned with the
application of basic sciences and mathematics to solving real world problems and making it a
better place. Working toward this goal, the department currently has 10 dedicated faculty
members actively involved in teaching and research. Well established laboratories help in
fostering the spirit of research and motivate the students to learn beyond the syllabus and
understand the symbiotic relationship between science and technology. Proficiency in the
53
English language which is vital for working in the global arena is imparted through an effective
and efficient curriculum and a language laboratory. Besides academics, the Department is
actively involved in the development of students’ personality through the Debating Society,
Dramatics Club, Photography Club and so on.
Physics-
The department of Engineering Physics is well designed as per norms of AICTE. The
department has all the equipment and instruments as per the requirement of AKU Patna.
Some of the major equipment include ESR, Spectrometer, Hall Probe set up, Optical Fiber
Kit, Frank Hertz experiment kit, Solar Cell kit.
The faculty members of the department are involved in research activities as external candidates
in CMERI (CSIR Lab.) and National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. They participate as well
as present papers in various National and International level conference and workshops. The
department encourages the students to undertake research works and innovate ideas for
sustainable development of the society.

Chemistry-
The department of Engineering Chemistry is spacious and at a time can accommodate maximum
60 students for conducting the practical classes. The engineering chemistry laboratory is fully
equipped for performing any undergraduate level experiments. The department supports and
assists the students in developing models based on contemporary topics, during Annual Tech
Fest of the college. It is the endeavour of the department to initiate research and development
activities among the students. The department is well equipped with special equipment such as:
pH meter, Conductometer, Electronic Balance, Distillation plant.
Mathematics-
Though the Gaya College of Engineering does not conduct any separate courses in Mathematics,
it has a separate department for Mathematics, in order to cater the needs of the B. Tech (Upto 4th
sem) as per the syllabus of the affiliating university. The qualified faculties always help the
students in every way in their academics and help them to get good scores in Mathematics.
English-
The department has undertaken several steps to improve the communication skills of students
and equip them with soft skills that are necessary for their job prospects. This includes
conducting language session for all the students both in classes and language lab, where they get
the platform to practise and become proficient in the language. Mock interviews, audio-visual
presentations, communication sessions, elocution contests, technical report writing are held
which sharpen the soft skills of the students. The qualified teachers of the department take
personal care of each students to refine their communication skills so that they are well prepared
to deal with the challenges of the professional world. The department has the following
infrastructure for the grooming the students:

GATE Training
It is one of the Disbursement Link Indicators (DLI) requires to train final year engineering
students to take exit examination in focus state institutions. In case our regular curriculum does
not cover this training to the extent expected, it is necessary to find the curriculum gap and
design separate module. NPIU has done the gap analysis and designed a separate training course
called “GATE Training” to strengthen the quality of technical education & active participation in
exit exam (GATE). The training is expected to benefit the students to brush up the technical
knowledge received over four years of engineering.
At our institute the training was conducted by The Gate Academy. Total number of hours
completed in each department are tabulated below:

Employability Skills Training
We are aware that AICTE mandate demands to make our students industry ready in which the
institutions are supposed to improve managerial skills, communication skills, team working
skills, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial skills of their students. In case our regular curriculum
does not cover these skills to the extent expected, it is necessary to find the curriculum gap and
design separate module. NPIU has done the gap analysis and designed a separate finishing
course called “Employability Skills Training” covering quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning,
verbal aptitude, GD & PI and resume writing. The finishing course is expected to benefit the
students to improve their skill sets.
32 hours took by the Agency to cover all the employability skill syllabus.

HAKATHON
Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the peak in India. In order to make development a
comprehensive mass movement and innovate on all fronts, MHRD, AICTE, i4c and Persistent
system have come together to organise Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2019 – a unique Open
Innovation Model for identifying new and disruptive technology innovations to solve challenges
faced in our country. Its a non-stop product development competition, where problem statements
are posed to technology students for innovative solutions
Considering this as a golden opportunity, Gce Gaya, has participated in Smart India
Hakathon2019. Two SPOCs were deputed from the college to provide the guidance for the
students named Dr, Amol bute and Ashish Ranjan. Some teams of the faculty members were
formed to help the students to formulate the innovative ideas. The result all these collective
efforts was that 15 teams were participated in this program. Each team consists of 6 students.
