over by the state govt. in the year 1986. From year 1980 to 2007 the college was running under

the name of Magadh Engineering College affiliated with Magadh University and awarded B.Sc

Degree. The Govt. of Bihar re-opened the institute in the year 2008 for all around development

of Magadh region. Now, it is a public institute under the name “Gaya College of Engineering,

Gaya. It was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Bihar, Sri Nitish Kumar on 19th

November 2008 in the presence of renowned dignitaries and educationalists at a function held in

the college. GCE Gaya is one of the few institute in Bihar which has been selected for TEQIP-

III, a World Bank Assisted Project under MHRD, New Delhi.

The year 2018 is a glorious one in the history of the college, GCE got 30 faculty members from

NPIU (A Statutory Body of MHRD) under TEQIP-III and 8 faculties from Bihar Public Service

Commission in all the departments. Recently, Gaya College of Engineering, signed Twinning

Arrangement with VJTI, Mumbai. The agreement was signed to improve the quality of teaching

and learning at GCE. The intake of students is 60 in each discipline, 3 students coming from

TFW and 12 students comes through lateral entry in the second year.

Principal’s Message

The institution has been continuously playing an important

role in shaping the career of young students of Bihar. The

Institution has produced distinguished Engineers and

Technocrats in the past. In the past 10 years, GCE Gaya has

earned fame and recognition due to the success of our

Alumni.

Now, the world around us is changing very fast. The

technology has expanded beyond our imagination in the past

three decades. In the present day, Technical Education has

become borderless which promotes virtual, interactive and

collaborative learning. We should be prepared to face the

world and compete with the quality of technology education

in Global arena. Technical Education enables our students to

play more effective role in global knowledge economy and global job markets. Technical

Education is going to remain the topmost preferred career in India and abroad in coming days.

WTO mandate under general agreement on Trade in Services(GATS), Technical education is

treated as globally tradable services. Thus, it is linked with global supply chain link of

employment resulting in fair and equitable treatment to all our engineers on principle of non-

discrimination.

Recently, India has become the permanent signatory of the Washington Accord on 13th June

2014. The membership of Washington Accord is an international recognition of the quality of

undergraduate engineering education offered by the member country and is an avenue to bring it

into the world class category. It encourages and facilitates the mobility of engineering graduates

and professional at International level. In response to Washington Accord, the National Board of

Accreditation (NBA) has been setup by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for

the recognition of the Technical education programme. It is time to prepare ourselves and make

strategy to compete with the changing world and Technology with forward looking ideas to

transform GCE Gaya as NBA accredited Institution at the earliest.

BoG & COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION

Board of Governors(BoG):

The board of governors for a college is a governing board, not a management board. The board is

responsible for defining the role and mission of the college and, thereby, setting the strategic

directions for the college to achieve. The board of governors has responsibility for fiduciary

oversight and institutional performance. All of its decision and policies are made for the best

interest of the institution, not for particular constituents.
