Who We are
The services provided include tests in its laboratories, accred-itations, researches, inspections in the areas of PPC Group, in-strument calibration, specialized studies, applications and analy-ses, specialized consultation studies as well as materials and equipment inspections for qual-ity control of existing and under purchasing materials and equip-ment of all installations.
The operation of the Tests, re-search & Standards Center is not limited to the coverage of PPC needs. on the contrary, it is extended so as to satisfy the needs of high scientific level and specialized requirements for the wider Public Sector as well as for Greek Industries and craft in-dustries. It should be noted that
the Tests, research & Standards Center is able to implement with safety and reliability the totality of its activities mentioned above not only in its installations, but also on the products and on-site in the customers’ installations. The Tests, research & Stan-dards Center is accredited by the hellenic accreditation Sys-tem (e.SY.D) according to ISo 17020 and ISo 17025 stand-ards. In order to maintain e.SY.D accreditation, the Center is sub-ject to regular thorough inspec-tions by e.SY.D which monitors not only the mode of Center’s operation but also evaluates the tests and inspections realized by it, in terms of reliability and ac-curacy of their measurements.
The Tests, Research & Standards Center is a Support unit that belongs to the Support Operations Division and its activities include the provision of services not only to the units of PPC Group but also to third parties.

MetallograPHylaboratory
the Metallography laboratory performs metallographic studies of a wide range of metals, with emphasis on steels. these studies in-clude microstructure characterization, steel identification (in com-bination with chemical analyses and mechanical properties stud-ies), image analysis such as grain size, phase fraction and particle size measurements, and creep stage evaluation.
in addition, failure analysis studies are regularly performed. the laboratory incorporates hardness and microhardness measuring equipment which allows fast mechanical properties determination and measurement of case depth and surface hardening depth.
finally, macro-structure characterization (e.g. forging and extru-sion products) is performed. the above tests can also be performed on-site, using portable hardness testers, portable Xrf and mass spectrometers for PMi, and metallographic replication techniques. long-time experience from power plant materials creep evaluation constitutes a major area of expertise.
