• Official transcripts must be sent directly from one school to another
• High school or high school equivalency required for first time students
• Any prior higher education transcripts for returning students

Tennessee Reconnect Grant Application
• If interested in the Tennessee Reconnect grant, your first step is to complete the Tennessee Reconnect Grant Application: https://tnreconnect.gov/
• This grant application must be completed annually!
• Each application covers a full academic year, which includes the fall, spring and summer semesters.
Tennessee Reconnect Grant Requirements
• Be a Tennessee resident for at least 1 year prior to the school enrollment date
• Complete the FAFSA and be classified as an independent student
• Not have previously earned an associate or bachelor’s degree
• Exception: TCAT Reconnect--remain eligible with degree
• Be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
• Comply with United States selective service requirements, if applicable to the
student
• Not be in default on a student loan program
• Not have an outstanding balance of previously awarded financial aid to an
institution
• Be admitted to an eligible institution and enrolled at least part time (minimum 6
hours) in courses leading to a certificate or associate degree
• Complete the application and Reconnect Success Plan in the TSAC portal
College Acceptance Letter
• Expect a letter by either email or postal mail
• Letter will contain:
• A Student ID number (hold onto this)
• Instructions to access your student email and student account
Student Email and Account
• This is the place where most communication between you and the school will take place.
• They will notify you of items they will need to process your application. This may include:
1. ACT/SAT scores or request to schedule an Accuplacer test.2. Immunization Records3. Proof of Citizenship4. Selective Service Information
Schedule an Advising Appointment
• Once you are accepted by a school, you will be assigned an academic advisor who will work with you in choosing and scheduling classes.
Register for Classes
• Your next step after meeting with your
academic advisor will be to register for classes.
• You will be notified by the school, through your
email account, when registration opens.
• You can also check the school’s academic
calendar.
Attend Orientation
• Most schools will require you to attend an
orientation.
• Orientation will give you an overview of the
school and explain procedures and
expectations.
Student ID
• You will need to obtain a student ID and a
parking pass if you will be parking on campus.
• You should have been assigned a student ID at
the time that you were admitted.
Purchasing Books and Supplies
• Next, you will need to purchase/rent/borrow
your books.
• We recommend that you check with your
instructor to make sure that you are obtaining
the correct books for the class.

Campus Tour
✓ Although not required, it is highly recommended to visit the location of your department and classes.
Complete the TCAT Admissions Application
✓ This admissions application can be found on the TCAT’s website
Acceptance
✓ You will be notified by the school if you have been accepted to the program.
✓ If the program is full, your name will be placed on a waiting list according to your application date and you will be notified when a vacancy occurs.
Application Status
✓ You will be able to check the status of your admissions application on the TCAT website until you receive your campus email.
Tennessee Reconnect Grant
Application
✓ A TCAT financial aid representative will complete the Tennessee Reconnect Grant Application on your behalf.
WorkKeys Curriculum Placement Tests
✓ All new students will be required to complete this skills assessment in applied mathematics, graphic literacy and reading for information. The school will schedule your appointment for this test.
Books and Supplies
✓ The school will notify you of the required books and supplies. These can usually be purchased in the school book store.
