Summary of Information Technology Contributions in Developing Education Technology1

Education has become long life journey and one ofthe most important things that every human has to get.Without education, no one can be survives to face Life.The only way to reach high education level is we allhave to go to school. Without going to school, no onecan get any knowledge as high as they want.

Education Technology is not a new technology thatcan be implemented on education system. Therefore, wecan find many definitions for the term of EducationalTechnology. Some of the definitions are: 1) the use oftechnology to support the learning process 2)multimedia technologies or audiovisual aids as a toolto enhance the teaching and learning process 3)iterative process for designing instruction or trainingused to improve performance.

Every organization needs a good management system,including education system. In a good educationmanagement system, all personnel involved are givingtheir efforts to guide the all students. In order tohelp every school to manage their school’sadministration, information technology can take a hugehelp. By developing a best school’s managementsoftware, all things that related to school’sadministration now are in the software, and not donemanually. In order to implement School Based Managementsystem correctly, there are four Principles : power;knowledge; information system; appreciation program.

Information technology in learning process are thestudent can get every information that they need ineasy way and they can interact with other that have asame interest. This condition can bring the student tobe more enhanced in their own major subject.

Distance Learning is another contribution ofInformation Technology in Educational Technology. Byusing distance learning concept, the teacher and thestudent do not have to be in the same room again.Everybody can learn from every site in Internet thatprovides this service. Many education subjects areprovided in each site. In some sites, we not only canlearn from the site, but also can download the materialto our computer using certain tools. In this case, thislearning system is much more like using the e-books,but had a view differences.

Evaluation is the last thing that the studentneeds in a learning process. In distance learningprogram, there is a specific program that can be usedto evaluate the student. This program can be embeddedto the downloaded program or have to online through theInternet.

Implementation Information Technology in EducationTechnology can bring many benefits. The biggest benefitthat the education institution can get is theeducation’s administration can be more easy andeffective. Therefore, the teacher can be more focus toimproving knowledge for themselves and for the student.
