Background
Amrit Mahotsav
• A Government of India initiative to celebrate andcommemorate 75 years of India and its glorious history,people, culture and achievements.
• It is dedicated to the people of India for their contributionin India’s evolutionary journey and their power andpotential to achieve India 2.0, fueled by the spirit ofAtmanirbhar Bharat.
• It is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’ssocio-cultural, political and economic identity.
• It commenced on 12th March 2021 which started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independenceand will end post a year on 15th August 2023.

WCD’s Broad role and central themes for proposed activities
• The broad mandate of the Ministry is to work towardsensuring holistic development of women and children.
• To commemorate the monumental occasion of India’s 75years’ independence, MoWCD plans to host a set ofactivities and events which align with the larger vision ofthe Ministry.
• The events will focus on themes such as: Health & Well-being Women empowerment Women and child protection and safety Child Rights Gender sensitization
• MoWCD recognizes that women and children are keycontributors to creating Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Iconic Event by the Ministry of WCD
1. The Ministry of WCD is setting up 21 research chairs byUGC and Department of Biotechnology to commemoratethe prolific Indian women of their respective field of workand to promote education among women throughscholarships for higher education, such as:

2. Launch of POSHAN Maah under Mission POSHAN 2.0 bythe Honb’l Minister of WCD, at Kevadia, Gujarat shallinclude the campaign for fortified rice and millets forimproving nutrition level and control of Anemia.

Aug-29 National Sports Day
District Level: Celebration of National Sports day by conducting sports/athletic competitions at District Level. The event will be organised in a local district stadium and the winner will get prizes and a chance to try out for state and national camps.

Aug- 31 Announcement for roll out of POSHAN Maah
National Conference on the roll out of POSHAN Maah by the Honb’l Minister of WCD at Kevadia, Gujarat.
Launch of POSHAN Maah shall include the campaign for fortified rice and millets for improving nutrition level and control of Anemia. These activities to be carried out through webinars and workshop from National, State levels all the way to Anganwadi level.
