A message from theChairperson

“To develop a complete mind, study the Science of Art, study the Art of Science. Learn to see and realize that everything connects to everything else.”Leonardo da Vinci

The years at School are some of the most enjoyable ones in every child's life. The child makes friends that are often with him for life, learns something new every day, plays mischief, understands what rewards and what punishes, and how to accept failure with calmness and introspection and success with delight and empathy. But School can also be a challenging place – its definitive pedagogy of compulsory subjects can sometimes be cumbersome for those children with specific talents and with a certain bent of mind that helps them appreciate the sciences more than the humanities or vice versa. These children often flower and shine when they leave School and go to Universities where they can pursue studying and researching what they love most, and are freed of the 'compulsory subjects'!

However Life continues to throw a number of 'boring, compulsory subjects' at us. Engineer-entrepreneurs have to balance their books of accounts; artists need to know how all about anatomy to get that human figure right; doctors must be good administrators to run their clinics well; being a good chef is a wise mix of having a discerning tongue, knowledge about nutrition and smart presentation skills; writers need to keep themselves updated on legal matters related to copyright rules and regulations. Those who can manage the balancing act well, usually come out on the top of their professions. Where do we learn these balancing tricks? Believe it or not --- it's in School. As we struggle with arithmetic when all we want to do is practice on the drumset or when we would rather be in the chemistry lab than fiddle around with water colours in the art class – that's where we unconsciously train ourselves to 'deal' with responsibility --- what 'must be dealt with', however unpleasant it might be at that time. Our minds also mature thus and as we grow into youthful adulthood, we can decide when it is ok to go for a drive with friends and enjoy ourselves, but also to make sure that we work into the night to finish the last bit of the project work that needs to be submitted in class the next morning.

School teaches us that in life everything is inter-related. To appreciate what a piece of work is Man, we need to understand literature, biology, philosophy, physics, aesthetics, music and the environment. And that is why teaching STEM is no longer just Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, but STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math!

thWorld Science Day celebrated on November 10 and our very own National Science thDay celebrated on Feb 28 underpin the importance and relevance of science in

society and in our daily lives. The celebrations underscore the role science plays in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home, and our responsibility in making this, our home, more sustainable.

Year Book 2018-19 is an opportunity to celebrate NISVs own journey through the year in this Area of Knowledge we call Science. Simultaneously, it lauds our very own budding scientists, their research, contribution and experiential learning in the process.

Pranshu Dave reached the top thirty, the world over for her three minute video, that explained the 'Wave-Particle Duality” from Quantum Physics- in the Breakthrough Junior Challenge. Kairav Shah conducted lab research at the University of Missouri, Columbi on the development of a Lateral Flow Immunoassay (LFIA) strip to test for retinopathy in infants using gold nanoparticles to detect a biomarker in urine samples and presented the findings in a poster summarizing the research at the department of radiology at the University of Columbia, Missouri, USA. Tejas Sharma has two Trollgen Studio apps to his name on Google Play. More recently, Abir won the Gold Medal in the Junior Category at the World Robotics Championship held in China. At NISV, we hosted the CBSE Regional Science Exhibition which saw over 100 science exhibits on display from various CBSE schools in the region. Our very own team were among a few others who represented the Region at the National round in New Delhi. Our teachers and students have participated in various Community Science Centre and other events locally and have gained valuable insights for life and learning. The BRAINFEED EXCELLENCE AWARD that NISV received during the year for STEM Education and Innovative Practices and the National Green Mentors “Inspiring Climate School Award” are testimony to a year at NISV that endeavored to give impetus to and focus on inculcating a Scientific temper in all we do.

Year Book 2018-19 applauds and acknowledges every member of this community that we call NISV, for participating in this endeavor, hallmarking their achievements, and creating footprints for the road ahead.

I would like to end with the words of Albert Einstein, “The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking.” And so every page of this yearbook is laced with a quote from some scientist with the hope that these quotes enlighten and motivate us reach our goals and refine our everyday thinking.

To say that the past year was the most thrilling one of my life would be an understatement. The year was a celebration of the heights that NISV reached; the new horizons we pursued as students. From on-stage drama to competing with many schools in sports to emerging champions in competitions; every milestone was worthy of appreciation and warmed our hearts.

Hosting events like NIMUN 8 and 9, Concert, and various other occasions nudged me out of the shell I had created for myself. The highlight was getting the chance to lead the school press for NIMUN 8 as well as NIMUN 9. Compiling the newsletter for the NIMUN conference and getting to interact with personalities I could only aspire to be, has definitely been a memory I will cherish always.

Now, the year comes to a close the editorial team is proud to bring to you this edition of the NISV Yearbook. It is our hope that you take pleasure in reading it as memories of another eventful year unravel through these pages, leaving you wistful, yet satisfied, at the same time.

The year 2018-19 was a melting pot of memories which will be cherished for years to come.

“When I was asked to write for the year book, I ran out of words for time spent as a member of PTA executive committee. We have had many things on our table in last 3 years. It has been a pleasure and made me younger by 3 years having the privilege to interact with the young students, even younger teachers along with the wisdom of the Principal and fellow parents.

We as the PTA executive committee have been a bridge between the parents, teachers, students and the management of the school on various issues. The committee also executes key events such as the fun fair and the Navratri festival. These events have reached new heights and earned accolades all over.

As outgoing president I hope to continue to support the cause of PTA and wish the body in continuing their work of bringing glory to our esteemed institute.”

Coordinator’s Messages

The IBDP team believes in what Robert Maynard Hutchins, an American educational philosopher says "Education is not to reform students or amuse them or to make them expert technicians. It is to unsettle their minds, widen their horizons, inflame their intellects, teach them to think straight, if possible."

Some of the highlights of IBDP 2018-19 student- led events, where they excelled , were Navrachana International Model United Nations conference- 9, Teacher's Day celebration and The School funfair “Fiesta de Melodia.”

This year, three IBDP students, along with 4 CBSE students, escorted by Ms. Jyoti Nagar went to ISSR, Sweden on a student Exchange Programme.

The year 2018-19 has been a momentous year. The IGCSE results are a testimony to the dedication of the students and the relentless efforts of the teachers. The MYP section has become competent in E- learning through the use of tablets and Managebac software to connect teachers, students and parents online for sharing teaching resources, assessments and report cards.

The students' engagement with Service as Action activities, the MYP Conclave and the inter- disciplinary activities, has given them the much needed impetus to hone their ATL skills.

Pre-Primary and Primary section lay the foundation stone in the all-round development process of a child's growth. We at NISV always strive to make the learning process joyful and work towards providing students with the skills and the knowledge required to meet the challenges in the future.

The New Year began with the hustle and bustle of settling down and the arrival of new faces .The PYP staff took their positions with reviewed vigour and enthusiasm to provide the young minds with the best possible environment and techniques of learning.

The only distracting element was the excessive heat …but…The Show Must Go On !!

Our motto “Enlightening, Empowering and Educating” is our guiding force that kept all of us committed to the programme and helped us execute all our units with utmost zeal providing opportunities for students to exchange , explore and learn.

At NISV we open doors to new ideas and diversity, thus empowering students to learn from each other and making them lifelong learners.

Another bustling year has gone by. New faces brought new challenges. New ideas and perspectives were realized to fulfil requirements of the instructional process. Initially, the mind was clouded with pressing questions around catching students' attention, making them focus, channelizing their energy, and sensitizing them. My anxiety was laid to rest when I learnt that this group of jovial and determined students decided to help an ailing staff member. Needless to say, my team had achieved their objective. I was touched by this gesture, the warmth of which will be felt for years to come.

“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations” At NISV, our approaches to learning is child centric, encouraging activity based learning and inculcating a scientific temperament, to adopt and accomodate new changes. In our curriculum the student is the primary focus and each child is involved in the learning process. We are constantly improving on our teaching methodology, so that it turns learning into a combination of classroom study, research and scientific discovery.

While academic excellence is our major thrust, the school is also devoted to prepare the students for life through' Happiness Classes' once a week, groom them to face the challenges of tomorrow and become mindful through mediation, regular counselling sessions, career guidance and encourage them to be socially relevant.

We constantly endeavour to always live up to this ideology and inculcate this practice into everything we do, with the aim that we will be able to ensure that the children grow to their full potential, while constantly being groomed to pass out as men and women of calibre, competent enough to bear all responsibilities in all walks of life.

I am confident that the NISVians will make themselves stronger day by day, adding a new leaf to the grandeur of the school.

Learning is the process of constantly updating in an ever changing world. The first five years experiences the most rapid changes of life and are critical in a child's development. . Learning at our school is based on the fundamental principles of life; providing opportunities for children to develop the various traits of the IBPYP Leaner Profile. In the PYP years we have always tried to provide the best possible environment for children, keeping them busy with learning activities and also ensuring that learning is a great lot of fun. Students have participated whole heartedly in a number of events and learning engagements which have helped them blossom into confident, expressive individuals with the ability to think for themselves and come up with solutions. A number of show and tell activities, presentations, group work, skits, dances, art activities, project displays, games and various celebrations have enhanced the elements of creativity and enthusiasm in their journey of learning.

The year 2018-19 was a strenuous and marvelous year both in terms of academics and co-curricular activities. The teachers worked diligently to ensure compliance with educational standards, school and student performance and accountability. We assessed student performances to determine the ways in which instructional approaches need to be changed or modified. We along with our counsellors established systems and procedures to achieve a productive learning environment while responding to learners need. The teachers and students put in great efforts to make the class presentations successful.

As we continue in this era of technology, in the IT department, we have been taking steps towards polishing our skills and providing reliable, available and secure IT resources for our students, faculty and staff. With the construction of additional spaces in the third floor of our main building, we worked in our pilot project to provide a WIFI environment, which has given us a stable and strong infrastructure to satisfy the needs of the 21st century education where internet is required and see the feasibility for the whole building to have the same infrastructure. We also are very satisfied with the introduction of an (Enterprise resource planning) ERP software that is giving us a robust and stable infrastructure to manage our critical data, and I am sure most of you have enjoyed receiving circulars, messages and even paying fees from the comfort of your mobile devices. As always, we are planning, assessing and getting ready for the new academic year that will bring its own challenges, but we look forward to them and the solutions that we will find on the way.

Engaging in Sports activities each week helps improve focus on school work, as well as helps the students lead happier, healthier lives. Here are four reasons why students should be involved in structured, before /after-school physical activities. Academic Performance, Fitness Habits, Mental and Emotional Benefits, Development of Specific Skills.

In year 2018-19, we tried to ensure that each child get these four benefits by involving themselves in School physical activities.

The aim in the year gone by was to reduce paper usage. Most of the school records are converted to e-records through a new software “Vidyalaya” including the filling of online admission forms for the new admissions for the upcoming year. The school got award for “Environment Awareness Among Youngsters” and SOCLEEN “Excellence Award” in Inter-school Cleanliness Competition. The school has also initiated revamping and construction work in the school hostel.

"I never dreamed about success, I worked for it."

A veritable 'coming-of-age' chapter inked, is what the last academic year has been for the English department! Our students, across the spectrum, left memorable imprints, in myriad ways, across diverse fora in School, the State, Nationally and Internationally. Underpinning their stellar achievements lies the steadfast and consecrated promotion of academic outreach programmes, which the teachers persevere to sustain . The excellent examination results further testify to the department's concerted effort.

A rich corpus of teaching resources enhance pedagogical practices and professional enrichment.

“Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life.” - Immanuel Kant

Sometimes the pathway dictates that the process comes down to hard work, rather than inspiration, but teaching is all about the rapport between a teacher and a pupil, more than anything else.

Teaching English language, after all, is about a fruitful engagement in getting children to conceptualize, understand, relate, connect and apply their language abilities in the spoken and written context relevant to the need of the hour.

Our team of English teachers have been facilitating and guiding students for all IHAs, State level and National Level competitions which include debates, elocutions and a volley of writing activities across. This team of supportive professionals have extended their unflinching support and set high standards, enabling the learners to hone their language skills.

Pranshu Dave's success in the Breakthrough Science Junior Challenge topped the list of the students who brought accolades to the school and themselves. Our students achieved high scores in various science competitions held at both the National and International arena. Teachers attended professional development workshops and also were selected at both the IB and the CBSE levels to conduct workshops.

The learning in the laboratories paved way to bring a connect between theory and practical. Our High end labs remained a churning ground for innovative projects and effective learning. Expert guidance and motivation by the science teacher's team was the spark that fuelled the flame of learning.

Kudos to the Science Team !!!...Your Enthusiasm is indeed impressive.

Our school had the privilege of hosting a two day Regional Level CBSE Science Exhibition with the theme 'Scientific solutions for challenges in life' on the 23rd and 24th of January; this event saw a participation of 40 schools from all over Gujarat. The programme was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Padma Shri Dr. M.H. Mehta. Our team qualified for the national levels held in New Delhi. In February students visited a horticulture exhibition with an objective to study and identify the various varieties of plants species.

Our faculty Ms.Vandana Shukla and Ms.Anamika Agarwal conducted an innovative workshop for teachers from all over Gujarat under the aegis of Gyan Sarovar to share effective pedagogies. Kudos to the faculty for continuously instilling a sense of intrigue and curiosity in our students through open-ended problem-solving investigations.

To widen the horizons and foster global-mindedness in the students, the department of Modern Foreign Languages extends learning beyond classroom. Students showcase their knowledge and proficiency in school assemblies and various cultural festivals celebrated in the school. Like every year, German learners got the opportunity to attend various workshops during German Days at NISV. Two students won the scholarship from Goethe Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan to attend a 3 weeks' youth course in Germany. We joined hands with a French school 'Lycee Sainte –Anne' in Brest (France) for the students exchange program. 15 students from France visited us in December 2018 and our 15 students visited Brest in May 2019.

The academic year 2018-19 has been a yet another landmark year in the field of language education at NISV. Our academic year's endeavor was to facilitate the Hindi language teaching-learning process a more dynamic and engaging one. We have also made a very productive and effective use of digital learning aids to further enhance the students's vocabulary building skills and language proficiency. Flip-classrooms have proved to be highly fruitful and interesting for students. The Department of Hindi was thriving with activities like Hindi Super Speller, Hindi Diwas celebrations, National and Cultural festival celebrations and class assemblies. Lastly, I appreciate my team of dynamic and highly creative teachers for their relentless efforts and enthusiasm in making all the events a great success.Hindi hai Hum! Jai Hind!

"During this past academic year we have been facing the challenges of an online educational world that is leaning towards Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Apps and Web-based solutions. This has encouraged us, as educators, to continue investing in our Professional Development regarding these topics and include them in our classes. We are looking forward to continue learning and using the new tools available in the coming year."

Art is an important element in the PYP, MYP, DP, IGCSE and CBSE syllabus. Art in NISV implements essential skills which enables students to become stronger and more self-regulated learner. Curriculums emphasize on understanding of art concepts and skill building to communicate the experience of exploration and understanding. This year special attention was paid to develop their critical thinking and reflective skills.

By its nature itself, the admin team is the one which initiates the task, collaborates, reconciles and then remain involved till the very end as a cohesive unit. New class rooms, a multi-purpose hall have been added and an elevator erected in the school. The student enrollment has crossed 1500 this year. Some new members have joined the team as replacements but they have settled well in the team.

The year 2018-19, exhibited an all new Nurturers in terms of work ethics. The drama competition is an honorable mention that delineated a story of team work, frustration and creative differences amongst the team. Nevertheless, the Nurturers put their heads together to exhibit an exceptional performance. However, the annual 'Sports Day' truly showed the colors of the house. Fierce competition alongside acts of sportsmanship, led to a phenomenal title race.

House of Nurturers

House of

InquirersThe House of Inquirers has demonstrated a strong team spirit and an indomitable will to win throughout the year. We won the championship for lawn tennis. Another feather in our cap was winning the Inter-house Drama competition. It was gratifying to see the students competing in right earnest. There were a few disappointments and a few joyful moments, yet we forged our way through, to the end, and savoured every moment of the exercise.

House of Seekers

House of Venturers

The main purpose of a team is to have a common goal and combine every resource to achieve it together, successfully. The House of Seekers as a strong team left not a single stone unturned in their joint effort, and bagged the “Best House Trophy” as well as the “Champion House Trophy” for the academic year 2018-19. Heartiest Congratulations to the entire Seekers team for their commendable achievements! What I believe is that “Every child is unique and a great performer. If everyone in the team is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself and that is what gives us strength and confidence to work towards our goals and achievements”. Life full of bright opportunities and lots of success in waiting is sure to tint their future endeavors.

The Venturers have been a very creative and dynamic house this year with Shree Patel and Shivam Patel leading them. From the unexpectedly commendable performance in the march past during the sports day showcasing unity, perseverance and team-spirit, to the collaboration and innovative thinking during the bulletin board decoration, they have truly grown together as a group. Exchanging and expressing interesting ideas during debates and speeches, and planning an entire theatrical production during the house activity – with script writing, stage decoration and performances – they inspired themselves to take on the challenges, and solve them, learning important life skills together in the process.

They got various opportunities and hand-on experiences through POI units to showcase their talent and developed thinking, social and communication skills in their early years. Also, holding the pencil for the first time, making different patterns & numbers, writing letters, taking part in Annual concert, world animal day, Group dance and Sport day was an amazing experience for the children to grow and develop their motor skills. The year flew by with a group of highly motivated and caring students, whose enthusiasm for learning and thirst for knowledge made the year and enriching experience for both the students as well as the teachers. The adjective that best describes this class of Grade 1 is affectionate. Each student exhibited his/her caring attitude through small actions such as listening attentively and taking criticism constructively to bring about a positive change in them. They enlivened each unit of inquiry with their curiosity and quest for knowledge. Their enthusiasm for learning never waned, be it the field trips that we undertook or the two day outbound trip to Camp Dilly. I wish them to bloom into truly international minded individuals who will help to create a better and more peaceful world.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher has been watching you grow over the course of the year. You all have blossomed into young scholars; and I am so proud of you all. Letters and sounds soon become words that invited you into the world of reading and writing, giving your strong voices to express yourselves. You grew as individuals too, exploring your independence and what it means to be a kind and caring student, classmate and friend. As you venture off, I hope that you will take what you have learned at the Harbour, and apply it towards your schoolwork, your friendships, and any other situations that you may encounter.

All the Best!!

Believing that 'The teacher is no longer the gatekeeper of all knowledge', my role switched to guide, assistant, and enabler of student potential. My efforts were directed towards supporting and guiding students. This year a bunch of bubbly, cute and hardworking students, amazed me with their inquisitiveness and communication skills. They were extremely enthusiastic and super risk-takers. They kept me on my toes and challenged me with their ideas, inventions which further motivated me to use more innovative and challenging ideas and strategies of teaching and facilitating within the grade room. I wish them all the very best for their endeavour and wish that they continue their journey further with the same enthusiasm and zest.

“So often you find that the students you're trying to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring you”. The year, 2018-19 has been an eventful year. We did not realize we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun. Being ever ready to be a part of curricular and co-curricular activities, they were exuberant performers. Every student unfolded a unique but interesting story, and I was made an integral part of the same. Together we shared ideas, struggles, conflicts, laughter and realizations that helped us in becoming more knowledgeable, caring and thoughtful.

“Education is not to reform the students or amuse them or to make them

expert technicians. It is to unsettle their minds, widen their horizons, inflame

their intellects and teach them to think straight, if possible.” The student

group of Grade 3B, Year 2018-19, was so full of energy and positivity that each

activity and each challenge, whether academic or extracurricular, was taken up

with great enthusiasm and vigour. They enjoyed the moments of fun and

laughter, also overcoming all the difficulties, however big or small, they faced.

The resolve to keep on going ahead on the path of achieving the different goals

remained unshaken. Thus team building and cooperation along with being

empathetic was the flavour of the class throughout the year that bonded the

students together.

I wish all of them to humbly march ahead with vigour, honesty and grit. Throughout the year, they unveiled tremendous energy and talent as they took different challenges with a smile and pride. They exhibited a level of excellence in the Talk show , the Kiddie Bazaar, the News Desk and the Art Fair. Their loving gesture of donating the earnings from the Kiddie Bazaar to the Sisters of The Missionary of Charity, Vadodara, set an example of the Joy of Giving to many. Talented, vivacious, helpful and loving is how I would describe the children that made up Grade IV- A. It was magnificent being their grade tutor. There was nothing more rewarding to me than having an opportunity to watch these students learn and grow in this year. They all were amazing and open minded with unique skills and abilities. They all blossomed into young scholars and responsible students, I was so proud to see them perform and display their understanding of our program during the IB PYP Exhibition. Letters and Sounds became words that invited them into the world of reading and writing, giving them strong voices to express themselves. They grew as individuals exploring their independence and became kind and caring students, classmates & friends. As they venture off to the MYP, I hope that they take the knowledge they have acquired in PYP and apply the same in future in their daily lives. Congratulations on their achievements and best wishes for their future endeavors. All our dreams can come true...if we have the courage to pursue them.- Walt DisneyThanks for all of the memories. Someone said “While we teach our students all about life, our students teach us what life is all about”. This is exactly what I felt being grade tutor for my grade 5B students . A strong – minded class, it had its quota of pranksters, humorists, academicians and absent minded dreamers. When we think of that energetic bunch of students, that instant reflection brings a smile which lights up my face and heart. Individually , they were highly original children, but each one of them was generous and always ready to help their peers who sometimes needed a little hand holding thus binding the entire class in a single unit. Together we tried to weave dreams and move on with our learning experiences both within the four walls as well as outside the classroom. And one fine day , they were ready to graduate to a higher class. Here's wishing them all the best from the bottom of my heart and finally to conclude, I 'll like to quote this for my students “Go the extra Mile , it's never crowded .”

It was a whirlwind year which went by like a breeze. The students were very loving and I as their grade tutor loved being with them and mentoring them. The famous philosopher Bertrand Russel has said, 'When you want to teach children to think, you begin by treating them seriously when they are little, giving them responsibilities, talking to them candidly, providing privacy and solitude for them, and making them readers and thinkers of significant thoughts from the beginning.' I'm glad that I could incorporate all this in my gem of a class.

Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and all the threads of the tapestry add to the overall appeal, no matter what the colour.

It was an enriching experience to be the grade tutor of grade 7B. Day to day interactions with my grade children gave me the opportunity to guide them and enrich my own experiences to make a difference to each one of them in small but meaningful ways. Each child has been unique in adding to the class ethos.

I wish them all the very best in all their future endeavors!

“Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge, knowledge makes you great,” by A.P.J Abdul Kalam.

It gives me immense pleasure to write about my students of class 8A. As a grade tutor, I have always tried to create a learning environment where I could nurture and see them grow into responsible students. My students were always full of zest to participate in class activities. We shared some really unforgettable memories from Tamia, Madhya Pradesh. They say some people make impacts in your life but this class has branded its impact on me. I am blessed to be a part of this class.

Mentoring this class of inquisitive children, who were always eager to experiment and explore was a true joy. Each one of them with their unique aptitudes and abilities complimented one another. As their teacher seeing them persevering and working hard with single minded devotion to achieve their goals was the most fulfilling part of my journey with them.

May God grand them all the gifts of wisdom and understanding.

Schooling is our first contact with the world, a period of joy, healthy competition, fearing, adjustment, sharing and love. This group of students were a bundle of different traits. Each one of them had a unique colour. They really wanted to participate and to learn more. They made the classroom a vibrant place.

Being the grade tutor of Grade 8A, not once but twice, I got the opportunity to know and understand them even better. It was a two way process of learning and really I also learnt a lot from them.

I wish them success in the next academic year. May God bless them always!

In it's core, this class is an organised chaos, that has created memories that will be cherished for years to come. With academic scholars to comedians to flamboyant artists to book worms to musicians to athletes this class lacks nothing. Each individual has their own goals but never left their classmates behind, helping each other every step of the way. Their friendship and bonding kept the class united throughout the year. I'm not the only one who feels unsure about their new class – and think more should be done to smoothen the transition. Being in the classroom is a collaboration between the teacher and her students.

Forming a covalent bond with this new class, was a challenge. This class of 2018-19 was a group of curious, intelligent and highly reactive elements. However, on the whole I was delighted with my class. They were kind, funny, thoughtful and creative also. Eager to learn, their questions kept me on my toes but were generally perceptive and interesting. Their kindness to each other, and to me, was special.

I wish them luck to reach the pinnacles of success in all their endeavours.

This year the students secured excellent grades in the CBSE Grade X Board exam and surpassed all our expectations ( Aryaman Bansal, Anshita Zalavadia, Samarth Gosain ). It was reassuring and heart-warming to see others run the extra mile to overcome the challenges they faced and reveled in sharing their learning with other students. Swarit Kale deserves special mention for his prowess on the soccer field and Aryaman Bansal for the quick reflexes on the lawn tennis court . The year of 2018-19 was a truly memorable one for grade 11. The young adults of NISV started coming into their own, right from the start of the year, with the appointment of the council. The test of leadership and hard-work kicked off with the annual funfair, named this year, “Fiesta de Melodia”. Showcasing true diligence, every child strived to make the best of their abilities by using their strengths and curating a fantastic show for everyone. A similar milestone was the Valedictory Function for the class of 2019.

The Class of 2019 holds a special place in our hearts as we have journeyed together for yet another year rising to every challenge along the way!

The success of our students is the result of their hard work, perseverance, learning from failure and their insatiable longing for perfection. Their ability to discipline themselves, set clear goals and then work toward them is the hallmark of their excellence.

Students, as you step out of the portals of the school, let A. A, Milne's words resonate with you, “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think .”

In RetrospectNavrachana International has given me the best sixteen years of my life with the most talented and supportive teachers and staff. With that it has also helped me fixate my path towards success. It has taught how to never give up and to keep pushing as hard as I can. Furthermore it has given friendships that will last a lifetime. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you every single person, whether it be teachers, coordinators and staff members, who made this journey extremely fruitful and enriching.AASHNA PANDYA, NISV, IB

“Entering the School's portico, I was awestruck by the sheer size of the grounds beyond, reflective of the larger horizons that lay in store. As a hesitant and shy 9th Grader, I strove to prove my mettle in both academic and sporting fields, at the same time extremely eager to make new friends. The numerous opportunities helped boost my confidence, simultaneously nurturing my perseverance, resilience and leadership abilities. Initially wary and wide-eyed, I was soon engulfed in the warmth of the atmosphere, allowing me to blossom. Never penalised for making mistakes, I was constantly encouraged to learn from them. As I set out on the journey of self-discovery, I started asserting my beliefs, rather than shying away. This Institution has helped me come into my own, inspiring me to unravel myself and discover unchartered dimensions, beyond a high-spirited girl obsessed with reading and everything Harry Potter. For all this and more, I shall forever be grateful to all my mentors and friends.”KRITHI GANESH, NISV, IB

"This journey has been an incredible one. I've been able to experience so much within these two years. From leading Seekers House as one of its Captains to white water rafting and bungee jumping at Rishikesh to planning the Funfair and so much more to countless nights of gruelling study in preparation for the exams. Being apart of the IBDP batch of 2019 has been an amazing experience for me."JASH ASHER , NISV, IB

It was a wet monsoon day when I first walked the marble pathways of school. Six years later, on an overcast afternoon, I stand on the same orange marble, bidding goodbye. Much has changed during these years. Faces are now friendly, voices recognised. Even the road to school has been fixed. At NISV, school was about much more than studies. It was about those precious ten minutes of soccer after lunch, those last minute group dances for all types of occasions, the daily renditions of the school song on the keyboard for morning assemblies, the unflattering videos for subject presentations, and a plethora of other activities that have forged the bonds and memories that will stay with me forever. Regards,KAIRAV SHAH, NISV, IB

'This school has taught me several important lessons, including those of confidence, sportsmanship, friendship, and most significantly, the creation of memories. The past 7 years have given me a platform to build my future, think globally and have made me a better version of myself, ready for whatever obstacles life has in store for me in the near future. Moreover, I can say that I will always have a special place for NISV in my heart and I will always cherish these beautiful recollections of my time in school.'SAMIKSHA PATANGE, NISV, IB

These 15 years at NISV have offered me valuable friendships, unforgettable memories and a platform to build my future and shape my character. I still remember being the little girl with nervous butterflies in her tummy, walking through the colourful and exuberant corridors of the school, wondering what the next few years would bring. Little did I know that the last time I would be walking these corridors, I'd be immersed in nostalgia, thinking about all the laughter, lessons, and stories shared there. I've also seen the school grow and evolve with me, the auditorium turning into classes, a whole new floor rising. I will miss the smell of Seema ma'am's food wafting through the corridors, relaxing under the neem tree and many more such precious memories I've made in NISV. I have become stronger, more independent and fearless, all thanks to the teachers and opportunities that NISV has blessed me with.RISHITA GARG, NISV, IB

In RetrospectNISV , a place where sports and academics run hand to hand ! Really grateful to have studied under such good faculty and the exposure I got from there couldn't be compared to any other ! I also had a great time playing football over there ! Thank you everyone for making it the best years of my life !SHIVAM PATEL, NISV , CBSE

Six years of the exciting and enriching journey came to an end with memories of our teachers, who gave us the strength and time to stand on our legs, to, the great friends who never left us in a trouble whatsoever, engraved in my heart forever. From a shy and introvert boy, I have grown up to be a responsible young man. Even though I will be studying in Navrachana University, which is not more than 100 m from the school, I admit to start missing it even when two weeks are left for the university to start. And for the selfless dedication from our teachers, there is only one way to repay it: By excelling in our lives with our capabilities, and making them feel proud that we were once their students. I am taking a bag full of memories that I will cherish every day of my life.Thank You NISV. JISHU GUCCHAIT, NISV, CBSE

I've been in this school for almost a decade. I have passed my teen and tween years roaming in the corridors of NISV. Growing together was taught to me. Over time in school, friends became family, and teachers became mentors. School events didn't remain just events, they became celebrations. We had a morning quiz from Jeeval about what we had last night, we had sleepless night thanks to our journals, and we had life skills from all our class teacher after every trouble we caused. I remember the fights we had for small reasons, the troubles we got into, the laughter we shared during lunch time, all of it is just a mere memory but one day we all will sit down and recall them, and tears will roll down towards the smile on our lips. But what I will remember the most is the guts it took to ask Vijayalakshmi Ma'am about anything.ISHANI RAI, NISV, CBSE

2 years. 2 years of waking up at 5 am playing soccer in the morning and as the first bell of 7:30 am rings running through the same corridors to reach the class before the grade tutor. 2 years of unthinking laughter, the joy of going for the MPE and also the pain of projects and term exams. The fastest 2 years of my life. A new classroom, new friends and a new board. These years have molded and shaped me into what I am today. We all knew one day we must part, but still we continued to live our lives- From minding the school in the assemblies to troubling teachers with our projects, we have done it all.And now that these wondrous 2 years have finally come to an end, I wish time would freeze and take me back to the first day of grade 11 for me live them again. The beautiful memories have carved a monument of trust, respect and friendship not in my mind but in my heart. Bidding Adieu, Batch of 2019.SHUBHAM SALUNKE, NISV, CBSE

"As it says empowerment, educating and enlightenment. I joined Nisv in grade 9 since then it has become and eternal part of my life. Through the years Nisv has made me stand confident and a better version of myself. From teachers day to organizing the Valedictory it was a very hands on experience at a minute level. I will miss conducting the lunch prayers, my teachers and my peers who have supported me in highs and lows. There are thousands of memories attached to various corridors and the library. It was and will be hard to say good bye. Until then, Nisv Keep flying high!" PREET PARIKH , NISV ,CBSE

Life at school just flew by so quick and I wish I could go right at the beginning to see it all again. Navrachana, you make us believe in ourselves. You've watched us grow through our laughs and tears. I will miss you the most at every stage in my life. Thank you for giving me the opportunity for all those unforgettable moments. We will meet you every summer and winter break now!JINAY H SHAH, NISV, CBSE

I don't know how to describe this beautiful journey in such a short writeup.Navrachana gave me my best days and the best family to be a part of, it taught me “be bold, be courageous, be yourself” and here I am as a mature individual ready to be a part of the real world, all thanks to my parents and the navrachana family who made me realise that without hardwork there is no success. School days will be cherished forever RAJVI SANGHVI , NISV, CBSE

In Retrospect"It's mind bogglingly intimidating as to how to encapsulate all that I feel about NISV into the domain of language. NISV has been almost a decade of my life. And it indeed has been a momentous span of years for me. Starting from my first year in NISV when I joined in 5th, I was bestowed the post of Junior Perfect. I was immensely surprised since it was my first year at NISV, and it was a powerful milestone in my life. Since that day I came to enjoy and cherish the inclusive and wam spirit of the NISV community. I was also privileged to be made House Prefect and Cultural Affairs Captain and take up the responsibility to work for school and the students along with leading them ahead. NISV has made me who I am. It has fostered in me the ideals of empathy and compassion, passion for learning, and promoting the core of ethos of life. It has given me a platform to display my interests and talents. NISV has been the foremost institution of my life in all respects, and I don't believe that any other organisation will ever come remotely close to the amount of respect and adoration I have for it.VASUDEV PATHAK. NISV, CBSE

15 years ago when I walk down the memory lane, I find a young girl with lots of hope and desires enter the school gate. NISV has moulded this girl to a confident and a disciplined woman. Over the years, the teachers have taught me how to face the world and guided me on my way to achieve my goals. I thank NISV for letting me be me and widening my horizons to not only academics but self growth. I feel honoured to have spent the best years of my life in this school which made me realize my potential, capabilities and of course having the best of lunches on Wednesdays.NATASHA PATEL, NISV, CBSE

s I move into a completely different phase of my life,it makes me nostalgic thinking about the 15 years of my life at NISV,the place that became my home, away from home.It will always be the place where I would want to run back to and embrace every single day all over againt. But,above all,I would miss the teachers and the amazing friends I made throughout these years I spent at school. It gives me immense happiness and pleasure to have been a part of NISV,learning to nurture, inquire, seek and venture.HELLY PATEL, NISV, CBSE

NISV,is always going to be my pillar of strength like it has been for 15 years of my school life. It gives me pride to have had spent some wonderful years in this school.Teachers,Friends,Meals,Sports and all the other activites that motivate me and have made me the person I am today.PARAM PATEL, NISV, CBSE

Never just a school, but the corridors of my childhood, the wings that gave flight to my fantasies, NISV will always have the most special place in my heart. I am More than honoured to have spent 15 years at NISV; it has given me the confidence and courage to take up new challenges and millions of learning experiences - the relationship with my teachers and their faith in me being my strength through out, it has given me friends that I now call family and last but definitely not the least food that still makes my stomach growl at sharp 11:50.JEEVAL BANGERA, NISV, CBSE

I still remember how a 4 year old child entered into this glorious school with a water bottle around her neck and a kerchief on her collar with tears in her eyes, ardently wanting to go back to home. But now as I go to college, every single morning I crave going back to school. My Home. It would be difficult not to start my day off by walking through those magnificent halls, peeping out of the window during classes, yearning to gush out in the break time and meet my friends. As I stepped out of my hometown, I found myself between hundreds of people trying to make their mark. It was NISV, it's teachers and students who taught me how to believe in myself and be confident about who I am. THANK YOU! I miss waiting for Wednesday Lunches and doing silly things for that one extra Mendu Vada. Organising events like the Funfair and the Valedictory will always be the most cherished moments of my life. Once a NISVian always a NISVian. Cheers to NISV.HRIDAYA SHINDE, NISV, CBSE

Life at BoardingThe Academic year 2018-19 began with 54 Boarders. Life in NISV Boarding is full of happening events through the entire year which engages the children productively at all times. At NISV we believe in nurturing the children in our charge into sensible, disciplined and responsible youngsters. All boarders were placed into 4 different teams for various competitive activities and games, which contributed to the social and emotional well-being of our students.

Life in a Boarding is an orderly one to keep our boarders charged and on their toes always. Ramatgamatma' with the underprivileged children from the neighbouring village communities, a Movie show on Saturdays, dedicated IT time, Personality Development & Life Skill sessions, Friday Evening Games and Monthly Outings are some eagerly awaited activities. Apart from this, Birthday celebrations, the Boarders yearly outbound trip and participating in the exciting Vadodara Marathon, with the added attraction of a festive buffet lunch in a good hotel are added attractions.

Their presence in Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Handball, Cricket and the school Annual sports program is commendable, earning many accolades and awards. Their memorable on-stage performances also merit acknowledgement.

Each year has its share of beautiful memories. As we leave this year behind, we look forward to the new year in anticipation of another fulfilling year at the NISV Boarding.

Inter-House ActivitiesThe House system encourages every student and member of staff to feel a sense of belonging and pride. All house members are encouraged to exhibit team spirit as all of the Houses thrive on the ethos of “playing your part”.

Inter-house activities are aimed at facilitating holistic development in co-scholastic areas. They develop students' social, team-working and organizational (amongst other) skills. And in the process reflecting the ethos of the school.

The students learn the importance of fair play and sporting behaviour towards character building, most importantly, to be humble in victory and graceful in defeat. The teachers support the students and take pride in their effort.
