Within this brochure we have attempted to provide a flavour of what TEAM is and
what it can offer to its Members. TEAM Head Office together with TEAM Regional and
Divisional Directors are all experienced recruiters and our philosophy is that we are
a network for recruiters, run by recruiters and have been since our inception in 1994.

istoryTEAM’s founder and Chairman, Simon Garbett, clearly believes in the advantages of
running an independent recruitment business, rooted in the local community that
it serves. ‘I think that things have gone full circle’ says Garbett. Local knowledge,
the ability to move fast on our feet and to concentrate on providing what the
client wants, as opposed to being a faceless bureaucratic animal, means that our
Members are able to respond very quickly to clients or candidates requirements”.
TEAM Members network vacancies and
candidates across the Membership. For clients
of Members this ensures their vacancy is
given maximum exposure which significantly
improves the results of finding the best possible
candidates in the shortest time. “The deals
between the different TEAM Members are
negotiated freely,” says Garbett, “although
in most instances the agencies agree a 50/50
split…... Members soon realise the more you send out, the more you get back”.
Other benefits that TEAM Members enjoy are the marketing muscle and the
buying power that the organisation, with a combined turnover of over a £1 Billion
per year, can offer suppliers to the recruitment industry who would like to bring
the status of a TEAM Service Provider to their organisation. “It may look to some
as if TEAM has set itself up as an industry body or trade association, which it
definitively hasn’t, we are a trading network that seeks to improve and grow each
Members business.” Whilst TEAM has and will make public statements on behalf
of its Members, for example he is vociferous about many aspects of the Agency
Worker Regulations, he is keen to stress that TEAM is not in competition with any
of the industry’s trade bodies.
“Each to his own” he explains “but we are focused on providing the framework
to a network of some of the best independent agencies in the country, certainly
we provide a range of help and guidance to our Members and our Service Providers
can offer virtually every product or service that a recruitment business needs.
Clients of recruiters want a professional service, delivering the best possible people,
exactly when they want them. If Members of TEAM, by networking their talents can
attract more clients and successfully deliver to more clients, then they become more
successful……..in which case job done!”

fees can be paid by monthly standing order. There is a
TEAM Professional Standards Committee that independently of TEAM HO is available to deal with any queries or
matters of concern from job
seekers, client employers or
other Members of TEAM.

A main focal point of TEAM from the very beginning has been
the ability for Members to share business opportunities with each
other. For some, perhaps not used to trusting another agency with
details of its candidates or clients it is a “leap of faith”, but once
these initial barriers are removed then Members appreciate first-
hand the major benefits derived from business sharing.
The process could not be simpler. Any Member with a candidate or
vacancy that they believe another TEAM Member could help them
with can very easily post basic information to the TEAM website.
TEAM have developed a unique business sharing tool called TEAM
Xchange which automatically takes the information provided
and then searches the TEAM data base and instantly alerts those
other TEAM Members that may be able to provide assistance. This
service is totally free to all TEAM Members. Members then follow
up on the alert, agree they can help each other, an appropriate fee
share is confirmed and a vacancy or assignment is successfully
filled. The amount of fees shared between Members has been
steadily growing and now exceeds £1million per annum. This is
potentially business that may have been lost …… better to achieve

The TEAM website is constantly evolving
both to accommodate innovations in
technology, social networking and the
requirements of the ever growing TEAM
Membership. The most recent website
upgrades include:

TEAM Toolbox
Over the years TEAM has acquired a considerable “library” of useful documents, forms and advisory
notes. Central to them are a range of templated documents that include model Contracts of and for
Services, Terms of Business, basically any sort of document that a recruitment or employment business
would or should have. Over 200 items are available free to all TEAM Members. The core documents
have been prepared by a member of the TEAM Legal panel and are reviewed annually or as and when
legislation changes. Additional clauses in contractual documentation may be necessary to ensure your
business is properly protected and complies with legislation. Many of the TEAM Fact Sheets contain
advice or comment that may be of interest to client employers. Over time TEAM has assisted many
Members in producing various specialised forms, documents, terms and procedures which may not be
in the current library so it may be worth talking to TEAM HO if you cannot initially find what you want.

TEAM Accountancy
Tax and accounting regulations change at regular intervals and TEAM Members
can take advantage of making a free quick and confidential enquiry to ensure compliance. Matters include
VAT compliance, IR35, corporate tax matters, sources of finance, sale and
purchase advice, HMRC dispensations and much more.
TEAM Insure
Team advisers and are on hand to answer any insurance based enquiry.
Free same day quotations are available and special TEAM Member only discounts are available. Advisors will
also freely review and advise on any non-standard contracts issued to TEAM
Members by prospective clients.
TEAM International
Being approached by a client with overseas requirements, whether supplying permanent or temporary
workers will raise (or should) many tax
related issues which will have different solutions for different countries. TEAM have experts available to freely answer any initial query which may just save
the Member, their client and their worker
considerable time and expense.
TEAM IT
The world of software and hardware can be a jargon strewn jungle and TEAM
have experts that understand the world of recruitment on hand to help with free
guidance and advice. Some examples
may be social media integration, system upgrade advice, back up and disaster
recovery, data security etc.
TEAM Legal
TEAM have established a panel of legal
firms who provide advice to both TEAM and the membership. TEAM Members
may take advantage of making a free initial enquiry of any of the panel who will advise accordingly. TEAM Legal
members also offer in addition to a TEAM discount the ability for any TEAM
Member to have their own “core” business documents reviewed for free.
TEAM Social Media
TEAM Members have the opportunity to seek answers to any online marketing
query and to access a free review
of their current online presence, e.g. website, Google checks and social
media platform analysis.
Certain groups of TEAM Service Providers offer TEAM Members the
opportunity to use free telephone helplines as a quick easy fix to
any challenge!
Profit Plus
Given the economic challenges we have
experienced in recent years, TEAM held
regular meetings called quite simply “Save
Money” meetings. These well attended
meetings , chaired by a TEAM Member
involved with finance, would usually
be attended by MD’s and FD’s of TEAM
Members and would specifically address
areas or processes that could directly and
indirectly help in reducing overheads. The
meetings also have guest presentations
from TEAM Service Providers who
demonstrate or discuss new innovative
products or services and relevant TEAM
Member discounts.
Many TEAM Members will attest to the
significant savings they have been able
to make as a direct result of such meetings.
In more recent times, whilst saving money
remains an important part of any business
plan, Members also recognise the need
to grow their business in order to improve
profitability. To recognise the shift in
emphasis the meeting name has changed
to “Profit Plus “and whilst Members are
always keen to watch the pennies there is
equally an appetite to consider ways
of improving the bottom line.

One of the many benefits of TEAM Membership is the opportunities that are created
for Members to meet with each other to exchange information and innovation. TEAM
arranges over 50 meetings a year up and down the country that all Members can
freely attend whenever and wherever it suits them. Regional meetings are held every
3 months that allow Members the chance to regularly meet with their local colleagues
within a geographical area. A member of the TEAM Legal panel is usually present
to provide useful advice on topical issues as well as guest speakers on a variety of
subjects. Primarily the meetings provide Members a valuable opportunity to meet with
like minded business owners and to network fee earning business opportunities.
TEAM also have Divisions e.g. TEAM Executive, TEAM Driving and TEAM IT & Technical
which also have meetings where the more specialist nature of their businesses can be
debated. In addition, seminars and workshops are provided at different locations (often
free to TEAM Members) throughout the UK on important or popular topics and usually
chaired by industry renowned experts. Recent events have included workshops on
Agency Worker Regulations, Use of Umbrella Companies and Pension Auto Enrolment.
TEAM also provides a national networking event to allow all Members and Service
Providers to meet each other as well as members being able to attend international
events via its association with NPA.

Regional and Divisional Directors
Whilst TEAM is administered centrally the network is supported by Regional and Divisional Directors
geographically based throughout the UK. TEAM Directors chair the Regional membership meetings
and are on hand to provide local advice and general guidance to Members. They as a body meet up
every quarter to form the TEAM National Executive which as a group discusses new innovations and
recruitment and employment trends across the country.
