THANK YOU FOR HELPING MAKE POVERTY #UNIGNORABLE

To me, the Honour Roll is a testament to the goodwill and compassion we have within our community. It demonstrates the value we place on caring for one another and recognizes the support we have for those who are facing some of life’s greatest challenges. By recognizing the 2,532 Pathfinders and Leaders of the Way in the Alberta Capital Region, we are honouring champions in our community. Collectively, they have recognized poverty is #unignorable by investing in our region and making it a better place for everyone who lives here.

It is only because of United Way contributors that we have such significant impact working to eliminate the root causes of poverty in our region. Those who invest in United Way allow us to bring together partners that are community leaders; offer services, programs and support to those who need it most; and change the future for thousands of individu-als each year as well as make a better future for our community as a whole.

To everyone listed within these pages – as well as all United Way of the Alberta Capital Region supporters and donors – thank you. Together, we are changing lives.

Major Donors generously give $10,000 or more annually to help United Way invest in creating pathways out of poverty within our community.

As influential community members, Pathfinder donors know the Alberta Capital Region is better when we work together to create positive and lasting change – and everyone who contributes is making that change a reality.

In addition to working collaboratively with local agencies to provide funding to more than 100 programs, United Way operates programs that provide essential services in niche areas. Working closely with partners and stakeholders, these initatives bring multiple services together so vulnerable people, including children and families, can access resources they need such as coats and school supplies.

This is our community. A place we love. And together, we will make it a great place for EVERYONE.

We work with funded partners, government and community organizations to create pathways out of poverty in our community.

To do this effectively requires investing in three focus areas to provide the tailored and wrap-around approach to successfully address the complex issue of poverty.

Break the Cycle for children who are going to school hungry, do not have support to work through their problems and do not have the opportunity other kids have to reach their potential.

Lift People Out of some of life’s most stressful situations, whether they are living on the streets or working in a full-time, low-paying job that does not provide enough for their family to live on.

Provide a Safety Net for families when the unexpected in life happens – a family crisis, job loss, mental illness, domestic abuse – the list is endless. Without supports and resources, families can fall into poverty and lose hope.

Focusing on these areas is how we will work together to create pathways out of poverty.
