Dear Members of the UNIS Community,

Each year, we celebrate the graduation ceremony of our students at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations. This very joyful and inspiring occasion is signifi cant for our community on many different levels. It brings together our students, parents, faculty, administrative staff, family and friends to congratulate our graduates on their academic achievements. The ceremony also marks the end of a successful school year, which you will see illustrated in this Annual Report. Most signifi cantly, it is a living example of the continuing close relationship between UNIS and the United Nations—a mutually rewarding relationship that all of us would like to see growing even further in the years to come.

As you know, Secretary–General Ban Ki-moon and Mrs. Ban Soon-taek take a very special and personal interest in UNIS and I would like to thank them for their most valuable support. My thanks also to our Executive Director, Jane Camblin, for her outstanding leadership in her fi rst year at the helm of UNIS, and to the faculty members, the administrative staff and the parents for their signifi cant contributions to the well-being of our school. I am grateful to my fellow members of the

Letter from the Chair, UNIS Board of Trustees

UNIS Board of Trustees for their wise guidance and support that they have given to the UNIS family and to me personally, as Chair of the Board.

I felt extremely privileged to have served you, the UNIS family, for the last year. It has been an extremely gratifying and fulfi lling period that I will always very fondly remember. Although I have left the United Nations to return to my home country, Austria, I assure you that the very close cooperation between the Executive Director and the Board will continue.

I am convinced that the Strategic Plan developed by the UNIS community, to which many of you have made important contributions, will form an excellent basis for a bright and successful future for UNIS.

My very best wishes to all of you!

In deep gratitude,

Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal Chair of the Board of Trustees

A Message from the Executive DirectorDear UNIS Community,

I am excited to be writing my first Annual Report welcome, and honored to be able to reach so many alumni, family and friends of the school who have made UNIS the wonderful place it is today! For those of us who have spent our professional lives promoting the values and benefits of an international education, UNIS has long been regarded as a leading light—a true compass point—for all other like-minded schools around the globe.

And so, when I came to UNIS for the 2013-14 academic year, it was no surprise that I would find a strong school, a school which lived, every day, the ideals and goals of the United Nations Charter, a school which radiated energy and purpose, a school which embodied in its very DNA the tangible, authentic diversity of peoples and cultures that make this community exceptional. Every day, students experience first-hand the extraordinary richness of a peer group representing 125 nationalities and 101 languages spoken in the home, an immeasurably unique opportunity to better understand the complexity of the world in which we live.

At UNIS, we seek to graduate young people who are warm and compassionate human beings, who are empathetic with others, who strive to bridge the great socio-economic divide and understand the world’s difficult ethical problems.

To help us achieve this purpose, a community-wide strategic planning initiative was launched this year that led us to examine and eventually re-write our mission statement. Our new statement underscores our unique relationship with the UN, our goal of academic excellence and our ongoing efforts to provide a truly inclusive and safe environment for everyone at UNIS. Above all, it encourages and inspires us all to become an active force for change….a force for A Better World.

The UNIS Fund plays an essential role in helping us achieve these important goals. As a not-for-profit organization, UNIS cannot operate on tuition revenues alone. Your generous donations enable us to continue to offer a wide range of academic and extra-curricular programs and to keep up with best practice and innovative design in teaching and learning. Importantly, your participation in our UNIS Fund can be leveraged in support of our requests to foundations and corporations, something we will increasingly wish to do as we pursue the ambitious goals of our new Strategic Plan and Master Plan for improvements to both campuses.

I hope to be able to meet with many more of you in the weeks and months ahead and thank you personally for your invaluable ongoing support of our school, our students, and our most important mission!

Very best wishes,

Jane CamblinExecutive Director

Humanitarian ProjectsHelping others is a central theme at the Queens campus. This year, much of the money we raised supported the work of UNICEF—proceeds from the French Breakfast, the J1 market and our art sale were all donated to UNICEF initiatives. As is true each year, “Trick or Treat for UNICEF” was part of our Halloween tradition. The UN Millennium Goal of ending world hunger also resonated with our community; we collected food for City Harvest and, locally, the Briarwood Shelter and raised funds for “Action Against Hunger.” Our annual holiday toy drive provided direct support to the Jamaica Family Center in our neighborhood, the electronics drive raised money to help build a school in Nicaragua and “Pennies for Patients” funded the work of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. J4 students and their parents not only collected essential baby supplies for the charity Baby Buggy, but visited the charity’s warehouse and helped sort donated clothing by gender and age.

UN Day CelebrationThe UN Day celebration is always a special day at the school. Students celebrated the morning sharing music and songs with the community. Parents provided the most delicious international food dishes for their homeroom

students and for many friends and visitors. Working with such talented, hard-working students adds enormously to the wonder of the day, and this year our students, especially those new to the school, excelled in every way.

Art and MusicIn February our Junior 2s traveled to the Museum of Modern Art. They received a guided tour at the museum and saw paintings by Claude Monet, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso. Our students then worked in the museum’s studio, analyzing how artists created “spaces” and used a variety of landscapes as models. They used templates, felt-tip pens, watercolor pencils and then made the previously dry colors flow by painting over them with water.

For our annual Winter Concert, students sang and played their way through a medley of festive songs from around the world. Through songs we paid tribute to the life and work of Nelson Mandela, whose humility and courage are an

example to us all. The Queens Middle School String Ensemble joined UNIS Manhattan for an unforgettable performance in the “Festival of Orchestras” at Carnegie Hall.

Theater ArtsWe have developed a theater arts initiative to supplement, enrich, and ultimately to teach our students the extraordinary connection between literature and the arts. To glean valuable lessons from the treasure trove of cultural events that occur in New York City, middle school students at the Queens campus participate in trips to see Broadway productions and take part in workshops with professional Broadway actors. Trips included productions of The Lion King, Matilda, Aladdin, Twelfth Night and Newsies. In

6 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

addition, our 8th grade students not only saw a stunning performance of Romeo and Juliet, but also had the pleasure of a Shakespeare workshop with John Basil, the artistic director and founding member of the American Globe Theatre. Our students are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to learn music, choreography, speech and diction from some of Broadway’s best, and to integrate the study of literature and the performing arts in an exciting and meaningful way.

SustainabilityUNIS Queens Middle School students attended a composting workshop given by NYC Compost Project representatives from the Queens Botanical Gardens. They learned why it’s so important to compost: to reduce landfill refuse and help grow great organic fruits and vegetables. They also learned how the bacteria and organisms help to break down the material into great soil. After the classroom lesson, students brought material saved from their lunches and went out to the new garden area for hands-on instruction with our new compost bin. Compost made here will help to fill our garden beds, and the rich soil will help to yield a bountiful crop. With the cooperation of our food service provider, Butter Beans, and all UNIS Queens students and staff, we will now reduce the amount of waste we discard and put it to good use in our garden!

Earth DayUNIS Queens celebrated Earth Day in our new Environmental Center. Students from the Junior School learned about vegetable gardening by planting a variety of vegetable seeds and onion sets. Students from the Middle School learned how potatoes reproduce, and planted them in three areas of the Environmental Center.

Visiting AuthorsAs part of the Book Fair, students had the chance to hear award-winning author and illustrator Chris Raschka who spoke about writing, art and making books and enlisted the children’s help in creating dramatic and vocal renditions of his stories. UNIS Queens was also a stop on the 9th Junie B. Jones Bus Tour—a national tour that brings children’s book character Junie B. Jones, live and in person, across the country to meet her fans. Junior School students had the opportunity to enjoy Junie B.’s hilarious antics through live theatrical performances based on the beloved series.

Camp GreenkillFor three days and two nights, in an up-close and personal encounter with nature, the J4s learned about water and forest ecology, tracking wildlife, survival skills,

birds of prey and much more. Through games and various challenges, they focused on cooperation and team building. They hiked twisted paths with hidden creeks and waterfalls, crossed a stream over a thin high-rope, built an outdoor bonfire,

and appreciated the serenity of a lake surrounded by forests. Every child enjoyed canoeing whether he/she had experienced it before or was on a boat for the very first time. They learned about falconry, while sitting only inches away from several powerful and beautiful wild creatures, including a Harris hawk, a turkey vulture, a peregrine falcon, and an eagle owl. On the last day at the camp, the J4s and their teachers quietly walked to Mr. Borlotti’s tree and plaque (lovingly planted in 2011 by his former J4 students– now M3s), to honor his memory. We formed a friendship circle around Mr. B’s flowering dogwood tree and sang one of his favorite songs, The Rainbow Connection. Our Greenkill adventure was simultaneously exhilarating, physically challenging, peaceful and truly uplifting.

Native American MuseumJunior 2s went to Garvey’s Point near the village of Glen Cove on Long Island. There we met our wonderful guide who knew so much about tools, which Native Americans had used at the same time that the pyramids were built in Egypt. She showed us how corn kernels were put into wooden mortars to make maize meal. We learned how a bow drill functions and produced yellow and red face paint powder from sandstone pieces. And finally, we got our chance to make fire with a bow-like tool and a wooden stick. We also studied how the Native Americans made arrowheads and spearheads, and learned about the clothing they wore in winter and summer. There was a wigwam in one of the exhibition halls, which was covered with deerskin and birch bark sections. We crafted pinch pots and coil pots out of the clay found right next to the museum and decorated them with impressions from pinecones, sticks and the tips of feathers.

Academic ExcellenceThe Junior School has been a bustle of activity with a clear focus from teachers on assessing and reporting academic excellence to both parents as well as the administration. Throughout the year teachers have focused on constant formative assessment of student growth. This work takes many forms and is a key component of delivering an academically rich program. Teachers in J2-J4 have been working with the children on summative assessment pieces which show the cumulative growth of the students over the first semester. The results of this work are reported to parents through report cards as well as to the Curriculum Director and Principal, who use these results to track progress vertically within the division and through a K-12 lens.

Global Stewardship/UN ValuesAs a faculty we continue to focus on this important area with regular meetings of the Junior School volunteer committee. In December and January we were fortunate to have a number of teachers either attend an off-site workshop with education consultant Cathryn Berger-Kaye or spend time with her at UNIS. Cathy’s passion and focus is on developing with teachers and administrators clear and authentic Service Learning experiences for students. As the faculty worked with her, we were able to identify very simple changes to be made in the JS curriculum for 2014-15 which would allow for greater focus and development of this area. As an administrative team we were also able to identify the need for this area to be addressed during the Strategic Planning process in February 2014.

Parent EventsThroughout the year we have offered a number of parent events in addition to the traditional parent coffee sessions. The technology department offered early morning drop-in sessions in the CoLaboratory to work on computer safety strategies for the home. We also held an Art and Math evening session for parents where members of our faculty hosted an experiential evening where integration of Math and Art was highlighted and explained. December was also marked by a number of Open House events for parents.

Technology and ComprehensionTeachers in the Junior School benefited tremendously from the visit we had during the Professional Development day by Kristin Zeimke. Kristin, the co-author of Connecting Comprehension and Technology, is an Apple Distinguished Educator, National Board Certified Teacher and Chicago’s tech Innovator of the Year.

Junior School teachers spent an afternoon working with Kristin to learn ways of using iPad technology to seamlessly enhance and enrich the learning that takes place in their classrooms each day. Only a week after Kristin’s visit, we shared a number of successful new projects within the Junior School: Ms. Marra’s iTravel movie, Ms. Hunter’s J2 student bloggers, and Ms. Ezuma’s JA Padlet.

Focused Work on Math InstructionWe were fortunate to have Chris Natale, one of the founders and writers of the Teacher’s Lounge Context for Learning units, come to UNIS and work with the J3 and J4 teachers as they prepare to teach this unit for the third year. Chris was accompanied by teachers from two other New York independent schools. The conversation was rich with content and showed great collaboration on the part of our UNIS teachers. We hope to host more of these events during the 2014-15 academic year.

Talent AboundsIn an annual event, Junior School students participated in the evening Talent Show. This highlight of our year was attended by parents and grandparents and has likely been tweeted and shared on YouTube the world over! For many of our young students, this is an evening not to be missed...followed closely by the International Food Fair in May.

J3/J4 Musical performancesThe J3 and J4 Orffestra and chorus performed for families as they came to school one morning in late February. Opportunities like this present themselves three or four times during the year, and the children are always thrilled to perform for a live audience, be it in the theater or the lobby.

Junior School Author ReadingsIn April JA-J4 students spent an evening reading original pieces of their work to parents and grandparents. The school was full of smiles and hugs as families congratulated their children on the amazing growth they have shown this year in the area of literacy.

International Food and Fun FairIn May, Junior School families along with alumni and families from the JA class of 2014-15 enjoyed a day of fun and food at UNIS. The event was run by the Parents’ Association and featured international wine tastings, coffee and pastry pairings, children selling treats in the children’s market, a fabulous raffle, crafts in the gym as well as outdoor games and teachers in the dunk tank. We had an incredible turnout for this wonderful day!

Schedule and Calendar WorkThe assistant principal spent a great deal of time meeting with teachers to discuss the key elements of the 2014-15 schedule. While children will continue to benefit from increased blocks of homeroom academic time and similar class lengths for specialist subjects, we will be shifting back to a five day schedule. We are working hard to maintain the other gains for student learning, including lunches in the River Cafe,

assembly times and internal blocks of time for professional development.

The Junior School principal, faculty, along with the PA and the calendar committee, worked to ensure a balanced calendar of events for the 2014-15 academic year. With so many wonderful events taking place throughout the year, we are working to maintain balance and calm for students, faculty and parents.

Food CommitteeThe assistant principal worked with a team of students, parents, faculty and representatives from FLIK, UNIS’ food service provider, to discuss menus and address results of a food survey conducted in the UNIS community. This committee also visited other schools to look at best practice in food service to ensure students at UNIS are getting quality and efficiency in their daily consumption of food.

9 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

Connecting with the UNThis year our Middle School students had many opportunities to make and strengthen connections to the United Nations. The UN Millenium Goals were a key focus of our UN Day celebrations. A UNICEF representative spoke about how the goals relate to their organization; students then used what they learned to create chalk art designs for a collage in the courtyard. These images were sent as a message of hope to the adults at the UN and UN agencies working for the Millennium Goals.

Later in the year, a class of our M2 students heard more about the UN Millennium Development Goals. After hearing from a guest speaker from UNDP, and visiting the UN, they were motivated to think about issues that we are most passionate about, take action, and make a bigger impact by

highlights middle school

teaching others ways that they can take action. They came up with the idea of creating a report template that other students could use to call for action.

The students critically examined the UNDP goals and then made relevant connections to their lives. They felt empowered to make changes that they believed in. Students engaged in research, drafted and redrafted letters, presented ideas and asked their peers to listen to the issues. It instilled a sense of pride and the realization that they were taking a step to make a change in this world, and maybe...others would follow using their models. During a visit from the Secretary-General, one of the M2 students presented her report and call for action to eradicate malaria.

Ten M2 and M3 students were invited to meet the Secretary-General at the triennial conference of the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit. The students also met the CEO and the Chairman of the Board of the LEGO corporation, one of several thousand businesses participating in the Leaders’ Summit. They helped unveil a model of the United Nations constructed of 90,000 of the company’s building blocks. The students participated in an activity on Human Rights, Education, and the Environment, and asked corporation leaders questions such as “Why are you doing what you are doing today and how is this helping people?” and “ Does the private sector actually participate in UN projects or simply make donations?”

They heard about ideas such as divergence and convergence and watched a 21st century photo event. Whether being interviewed by UN press corps or meeting UNIS Board members, corporate engineers, or other students from the French-American school in Larchmont, NY, these M2s and M3s were enthusiastic, honest ambassadors for our school and clearly interested in thinking about how to achieve ‘a better world.’

M4 students, born in and around the year 2000, are part of the age group called ‘millennium babies.’ UNICEF has reached out to these students to participate in ‘Voices of Youth,’ a project where they, either individually or in small groups, identify areas of concern for the future and create projects that reflect these concerns and connect with other millennium babies around the world. They identified organizations in New York City that have some involvement with these issues on a local level and approached them to gain further insight into their work. Students presented their work to their peers in May.

Middle School ‘Celebrating Learning’ AssembliesMiddle School students gathered before the December and March holidays to celebrate their learning. These student-centered assemblies were an opportunity for our students to take risks and build confidence. The celebrations showcased a variety of subjects that enabled all students to get a ‘peek inside’ other classrooms to see what their

10 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

friends do each day. Examples included the Science egg drop experiment, Spanish instructional cooking videos, aerodynamic flying plane project, storytelling, Physical Education demonstration, and updates from the Environmental Club. The assemblies opened and closed with beautiful solo and ensemble pieces of music by Middle School violin students.

UNIS Middle School and 21st Century TechnologyIn September all Middle School students received their own laptops. Throughout the year students used these laptops to organize and increase productivity as well as access information, and create documents and projects to enhance their learning. UNIS Information and Communications

Technology integrators worked side by side with classroom teachers, advisors and counselors, creating lessons to teach our students safe ways to use the Internet, use technology responsibility and become digital citizens. Parent informational sessions were held to provide expert guidance on how parents can guide kids to make responsible, respectful and safe choices in the digital world and beyond.

Co-Curricular ActivitiesTutorial House students enjoyed an academically rigorous year, enriched with a variety of co-curricular experiences.

In the physical realm, our soccer, volleyball, track and basketball teams all had successful seasons. Our boys’ varsity soccer team reached the NYSAIS semi-finals, and our girls varsity

soccer team played in the NYCAL semi-finals. Five of our boys and girls were selected for the NYC Mayor’s Cup Soccer All-Star Games, and Coach De Rosa was named head coach for the independent schools all-star team. In track and field, our girls’ varsity team finished first in the NYCAL Championships, and the cross country team finished second in the NYCAL Cross Country Championships. Two of our girls placed first and third in the PSAA varsity Cross Country Championship. In basketball, our boys’ varsity team placed second in the PSAA regular season, reaching the semi-finals, and Coach Kay was selected coach of the year by his peers.

The T1 students took their annual canoe and camping trip along the Delaware River, while the T2 students enjoyed a winter outdoor environmental educational experience at Frost

Valley in the New York Catskill Mountains. Two very successful ski trips were also held. The International Award program continued to attract a large number of students, and the challenging bronze, silver and gold-level adventurous journeys saw them honing their skills as close by as the Appalachian Trail and as far afield as Nicaragua.

The ArtsTut House students were as active as ever in the arts arena with the annual art exhibition, theatrical performances and workshops, the U-film event and a plethora of musical performances, the highlight being a public performance by the Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra in Carnegie Hall.

Service LearningAs the school evolves its school-wide Service Learning program, students demonstrated their continuing commitment to the spirit of the UN Charter through their community service. They worked collaboratively on numerous projects including construction and conservancy, serving

meals in soup kitchens, working with the elderly, caring for animals and fund-raising for a range of organizations.

United NationsIn collaboration with the Bridge to the UN committee, connections with the UN were strengthened in line with one of the goals of the Strategic Plan. Students organized, and were part of, a number of significant conferences and events. The 16th Annual UN Conference on Human Rights, organized by the UN, UNIS and several civil society organizations, brought together participants from around the world. It included presentations of human rights campaigns and student projects and panel discussions, providing profound insights and perspectives on equal rights, diversity and cross-cultural communication for people around the world. Some students attended the UN Conference, Genocide: A Preventable Crime, others were invited to participate in a UNESCO project on water education and four students presented at a conference held at the Scandinavian House to discuss the possibility of major corporations and charities teaming up to help children gain recognition and support. In the thirty-eighth year of UNIS-UN, the students successfully organized and ran the annual, two-day UNIS-UN conference in the temporary General Assembly. The theme was Globalization: A World of Exchange, an examination of the socio-cultural effects and repercussions of an increasingly interconnected world.

12 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

Beyond the ClassroomThere was increased opportunity for Tut House students to be involved in activities and events ‘beyond the classroom’ this year. Delegates attended the National Association of Independent Schools Student Diversity Leadership Conference, participating in a series of workshops, presentations, affinity groups (based on ethnic and national origin as well as their school’s region) and networking events led by a diverse team of trained adults and peer facilitators. The National Geographic Club hosted a special assembly for T3 and T4 students, featuring a representative from an organization called Friends of the Earth Middle East (FoEME) founded to promote cooperation and peace efforts in the Middle East. The presentation focused on the importance of reviving the polluted Jordan River,

highlighting the need for people worldwide to work together in this effort. Suggestions were made as to how students could get involved. Students attended the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Conference, which focused on the topic Ending Poverty. After reflecting on this conference, the students formed a UNIS club, End Poverty 212, to increase awareness in our community, while also striving to assist other communities to break free from poverty.

Language and Cultural TripsLanguage and cultural immersion trips were taken by Tut House students to Spain, China, Japan and Morocco. For the first time, a cultural exchange trip was organized with SEK Alborán School, Spain and also with our sister-school, UNIS Hanoi.

Class of 2014Academically, it was a very successful year. One hundred and thirty-six students in grades 11 and 12 participated in the May 2014 session of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme examinations, taking a total of 845 exams. Eighty-six Diploma candidates were registered, and of these, 91% students earned the Diploma. 17 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

The philanthropic support of the entire community enables UNIS to innovate and enhance the learning experience of each student, year after year. Gifts to the UNIS Fund help the school to pay for the annual operating expenses needed to educate our students while maintaining the value represented by its tuition levels.

Every Gift Helps to Support:

The UNIS Fund

Our Mission Gifts to the UNIS Fund make a tangible difference in the teachers we hire; the international curriculum, language courses and enrichment programs that we provide; and the art, drama, music and athletic programs we offer. Every measure of the advancement of UNIS is touched by your generosity. A donation to the UNIS Fund is one of the most important gifts you can make to our children in support of A Better World.

”“Giving to the Unis fund supports the excellent academic

education provided to our children. The gifts also enhance the social environment in which our children learn and experience how we believe people from all over the world should interact: with acceptance and appreciation of diff erence and tolerance for all.Stuart Rosow and Amy Kuhn (sons T2, T4 and UNIS Class of ’12)

36 Unis 2013-2014 Annual Report

UNIS is committed to fiscal sustainability and affordability via diligent and conservative financial management. We are determined to fulfill our educational mission efficiently while offering outstanding academics, arts and athletics at two campuses in Manhattan and Queens. Our financial health and the generosity of our donors enable UNIS to attract and retain a world-class, international faculty and an extremely gifted and diverse student body.

For the fiscal year ended 30 June 2014, tuition comprised 95% of total revenue. UNIS also relies on non-tuition revenue sources, such as gifts to the UNIS Fund and income from Special Programs including summer camps and after school programs. UNIS is focused on increasing sources of non-tuition revenue in order to minimize future tuition increases, to the extent possible.

In June 2014, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved revisions to the UNIS Financial Aid policy. These revisions broadened the school’s need-based award criteria in order to make our program even more accessible to highly qualified students who will enrich and be enriched by our educational community, regardless of family income. As a result of the school’s financial position and through the generous support of our community, UNIS provided approximately $1 million in financial aid assistance to our students in 2014.

In 2014, UNIS invested in Year 2 of its robust 21st Century Technology Initiative by providing individual laptops for all middle and high school students. This comprehensive technology program is designed to create an environment of equal, digital opportunities where every student has access to global information under the guidance of educators working within a creative, intellectually dynamic educational setting.

The UNIS administration has carefully managed operating expenses while increasing investment in professional development and enhancing the safety and energy efficiency at both our Queens and Manhattan campuses. By the end of 2014, UNIS had nearly completed its two-year, $5 million roof repair project at both campuses, and was in the process of upgrading security and safety systems and enhancing flood protection in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

With prudent management of UNIS’ endowment by the Investments Sub-Committee of the Board of Trustees, the endowment achieved a market value of $19 million as of 30 June 2014, representing an investment return of $2.2 million, or approximately 13%, for the trailing 12-month period. On an annual basis, the Board of Trustees approves the level of investment return to be appropriated from the endowment for operations support. For 2014, this amount was $0.4 million, or approximately 2.4% of the 30

June endowment balance. The continued growth of the endowment is an ongoing priority for UNIS, in order to continue to strengthen the school’s long-term financial profile.

The UNIS community and the Board of Trustees are grateful to the Sultanate of Oman for its very generous $10 million capital gift received in 2012. These temporarily restricted funds will position UNIS to launch the next phase of its Master Capital Plan, and are separate from the endowment funds. In addition, UNIS students benefit from world-class Modern Language instruction, which is generously supported in part by gifts from Member States including China, Germany, Italy, Oman and Spain.

Philanthropic gifts to UNIS from parents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff and friends of UNIS have a very meaningful impact on our ability to innovate and enhance the educational experience for UNIS students. The 2014 initiatives such as the enhancement of Queens campus outdoor recreation facilities, the renovation of the Manhattan Junior School Library, eight outdoor environmental enrichment trips for Middle School and Tutorial House students and new sports uniforms for all UNIS athletes were made possible in large part due to the generosity of the UNIS community.
