CAPACITY BUILDING AND SKILLS ENHANCEMENT INITIATIVES
TAKEN BY THE GFGC KARKALA: 2016-17
TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL AWARENESS PROGRAMME 26-09-2016
On 26-09-2016, Tuberculosis control awareness programme was organized. Correspondent of
Tuberculosis Prevention Officers Unit, Udupi District Sri Suresh was the resource person. Principal of the
College Prof. SrivarmaAjri M presided over programme. NSS programme officers were present in the
occasion. 68 students were present in the programme.
VANAMAHOTHSAVA 05-07-2016 (Afforestation)
On 05-07-2016 Vanamahothsava programme was organized in association with Karkala Forest
Department. Saplings were planted in the college ground. Saplings were also distributed to the
students. 54 students were participated in the programme.
HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME 11-08-2016
On 11-08-2016, a programme is arranged to create awareness on health. Medical Officer of Karkala
Taluk Dr. Krishnananda Shetty was the resource person. Principal of the College Prof. SrivarmaAjri M
presided over programme. NSS programme officers were present in the occasion. 75 students were
present in the programme
VERMI COMPOST AND CLEANING AWARENESS PROGRAMME 01-10-2016
On 01-10-2016 Vermi Compost unit was inaugurated and awareness programme on cleaning was
arranged. Chief Officer of Muncipal Corporation of Karkala Sri Rayappa was the resource person. 80
students were present in the programme.
Shramadana
On 02-10-2016, a Shramadana was arranged in the college campus. NSS volunteers actively participated
in cleaning the campus and clearing the weeded plants. 62 students were participated in the
shramadana
TREKKING TO KUDLUTHIRTHA 15-01-2017: On 15-01-2017, a trekking was arranged to
Kudluthirtha on account of YUVASAPTHAHA. 62 students were participated in the trekking programme.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP 26-01-2017
On 26-01-2017, a voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized in association with Red Ribbon Club
and KMC Manipal.. Old students of the college were also participated in the Blood Donation
Programme.

JATHA ON MALERIA CONTROL-29-06-2017
On 29-06-2017 “MaleriaVirodhi Maasacharane-2017” programme was organized. This programme was
organized in order to create an awareness about Prevention of Maleria. Sri V. Sunil Kumar inaugurated
the programme. Udupi district medical officer Dr. Premanada was the resource person and Sri Uday S
Kotian was the chief guest.
SWACHHATHA PAKHYADA-01-08-2017
On 01-08-2017 , “SwacchhathaPakhyada” programme was organized. A speech on cleaning was given by
Prof. VidyadharaHegdeS in this occasion. Principal of the College, Prof. SrivarmaAjri was the President
of the Programme. After the stage programme, a cleaning campaign was arranged in order to create
cleaning awareness among students and community. Students were participated in the cleaning work in
and around Karkala Bus stand and Taluk office. 85 students participated in the cleaning campaign.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP-13-01-2018
On 13-01-2018, Blood Donation camp was organized in association with KMC Manipal, Lions Club
Belman, Mogaveera Sangha Mandhaarthi, G. Shankar Family Trust Udupi and other Associations of the
College. President of Lions Club, Karkala Smt. JyothiPai inaugurated the camp. The Medical Officer of
KMC Blood Bank told about the importance of blood donation in maintaining the good health. He also
told about the misconceptions prevails in the minds of general public about blood donation. Staff
members and students donated 99 units of blood.
CLEANING CAMPAIGN
Yuvachethana Rovers and Rangers in association with District Administration, Udupi, Forest
Department Wild Life Department, Chara Gram Panchayat organized a Cleaning Campaing in
the Mala Forest Range under the title ‘Sustainable Tourism – Tool for Development’ on 21st
September, 2017. 35 students of our college participated in this programme.
Conducted One day workshop to the Fine Arts students on “Self Employment”, .
The Resource person is Smt. SharavathiPaniyoor, In Agurated by Prof. MalathiPai, GPUC
Belman 13/01/2018. 85 students participated
Ranger Leaders Mrs. Jyothi L Janne, Mrs. Savithri, Mrs. Suman Shekar, Rover Leader Mr.
Krishnamurthi Vaidya were present on the occasion.
CYCLOTHON – KARKALA TO SUBRAMANYA
As part of the Rajyapuraskar Award curriculum 7 Rovers took the initiative of Cyclothon from
Karkala to Subramanya to create hygiene and cleanliness awareness for a week from 13-10-2017
to 18-10-2017.
TREKKING CAMP TO BHAGAVATHI, KUDUREMUKH
A one-day trekking camp was organized on 7th January,2018 to Bhagavathi, Kuduremukh Forest
Range, in association with the Forest Department, Karkala. The camp was organized for the
rovers and rangers of the college. 100 rovers and rangers participated in this trekking camp.
ELOCUTION COMPETITION
An elocution competition was held for the students of college by Yuvachethana Rovers and
Rangers in association with the District Health and Family Welfare Department, Udupi on 3rd
March, 2018. About 50 students participated in this competition. Prizes were awarded by the
District Health and Family Welfare Department Udupi.
Communication skills- Gavels Club
With the object of improving the Communication Skills among the students,
Gavels Club was started in the college as a part of curriculum for both M. Com
Previous and Final students. This activity was conducted once in two weeks.
The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organized a State Level
Management Fest- “Playstore-2018” on 25.03.2018. The Inaugurator and Chief
guest of the Fest Dr. Manjunath A Kotian told that these kinds of fest will improve
creativity among the students to face the competitive world.
Workshop on how to face IAS/KAS Competitive Examination

The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce, IQAC and Placement cell
organized a special workshop on how to face IAS/KAS competitive examination
on 7-08-2018. The director of Pace Institute, Dharwad Sri Parshwanatha Jain and
Sri Naveenchandra from Jain Career Training Academy, Moodbidre were the
resource person of the programme.
Interview Skills Training
The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce, IQAC and Placement cell
organized an Interview Skill Training on 26.02.2018. the Principal of Western
Institute of Technology, Udupi, Sri Jaikishan Bhat was the resource person of the
programme. Tips on sharpening the skills and mock interviews were conducted.
Final years of UG and PG students benefitted from the programme. 150 students
attended the programme.
Spoken English Class
The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce and IQAC organized 30 hrs
Spoken English Class to the M. Com Previous students from 28.09.2017 to
13.09.2017. Stanly Rebello, a retired professor was the resource person for the
programme
First Aid Training Program
In association with IQAC, Rotaract, a First Aid training program was organized in the College
on 23rd Sept, 2017 Dr Ramachandra Kamath, who is also a Treasury member of IRCS, Udupi
Branch was invited as a Resource person to train our students. He provided various First Aid
techniques for different situations in the Theory session and then he also provided a Demo on the
same. The program was highly appreciated by the audience and about 60 students took the
benefit of this program. On the same day, the college Library magazine Vindhuja was also
inaugurated by the Resource Person.
Free Eye Check up and Eye Pledge Campaign
As community service is an inseparable part of Youth Red Cross, the wing organized a Free Eye
check up camp for the benefit of the public of Karkala on 28th January, 2018. At the same time, a
Eye donation pledge campaign was also done to encourage people to come forward in registering
themselves to donate their Eyes after the end of their lives. This program was conducted in
association with IQAC, Rotaract and Prasad Nethralaya, Nethrajyothi Indian Red Cross Eye
bank. The program was a grand success with about 250 people getting the benefit of Free eye
check up out of whom 6 were recommended for a surgery for free and about 120 persons have
pledged their eyes.
Soft skill training program
On 11-07-2017 soft skill training program was held at college for final
year students. DrSudheer Raj, Faculty of MBA Dept, Nitte NSAM Institute
of Management gave the orientation on entrepreneurship skills and ideas.
Around 50 final year students participated in this program.
Prof.ShriVarmaAjri M gave the presidential remarks.
Guidance on competitive exams
On 15-07-2017 a guidance program on competitive examination was held at
college to give information about various job-related competitive
examination.Prof.ArunGundmi, From TIME Institute, Udupiparticipated as
resource person. Totally 120 final year students participated in this program
EDP program
On 27-09-2017 Entrepreneurship program was held at college for the
benefit of final year students. The faculty of Nitte NSAM Institute of
Management participated as the resource person and gave the talk on
entrepreneurship ideas. Totally 80 students participated in the event. The
Principal, Prof. Shri VarmaAjri M gave the motivational talk.
1. Workshop on KAS/IAS exams
On 12-02-2018 a workshop was organised at college on IAS and KAS
exam for the benefit of final year students. Sri. Parshwanatha G, Director
from PACE Institute, Dharwad and Sri. Naveenchandra, Jain Career
Academy, Moodbidri were the resource persons. Totally 80 final year
UG and PG students participated in this program.
2. Study visit to CS Kamath Institute of Artisans, Miyaru
Final BBA students were taken to CS Kamath Institute of Artisans,
Miyaru sponsored by Canara Bank under CSR project. The students were
exposed to the working of the institute and to know the job opportunities.

Capacity building and skills enhancement initiatives
taken by the institution: (2018-19)
Workshop on Banking Exam: -
A workshop was organised by the Career Guidance and Placement Cell in association with the
TIME Institute in order to provide an exposure to the students regarding banking exams on 5-8-
2018. Mr.ArunGundmi, District Head, TIME Institute provided an insight to the students in the
areas of bank exams, solving the question papers and the requisite skills that the students should
have for the banking sector.
Project on Employment Opportunities:
All the Students enrolled in the cellwere assigned a project on different sectors. The objective of
the project was to help students to widen their knowledge regarding the different sectors, the job
opportunities, qualification and skills required for different jobs and other allied aspects. The
project included report writing to enhance writing skills of the students. The outcome of the
project was discussed on 06-08-2018.
IAS/KAS Training program
A Training on IAS/KAS exams was conducted in college on 09-08-2018.
Mr.ParshwanathPalabhavi and Mr.PraveenchandraJain were the resource persons. They covered
various aspects of preparing for the competitive exams, problem solving tricks, number of papers
to be studied and the preparation time required for the same.
Spoken English Training from 13-08-2018 to 27-08-2018
Spoken English training was conducted for M.Com students from 13/08/2018 to 27/08/2018
for M.Com students.Mr.StannyRebello participated as resource person. Totally 60 M.Com
students benefited from this course.
Visit to Business Model Exhibition:
A business model exhibition was organised by Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Kenjar,
Bajpe on 27th August, 2018. Students of the host college had prepared various business models
and presented them. The objective of visiting the business model exhibition was to provoke the
students to think in the direction of self employment and entrepreneurship. It is to make them
engage in thinking and inculcating the entrepreneurship qualities. 80 students benefitted from the
programme.
Unnati Training Programme: -
Unnati Training programme was conducted to the Final Year B.Com students in November-
December vacation. …students have benefitted from this programme. Students have expressed
that this programme has helped them hone their skills and improve the command over language.
It has also helped them realise the importance of the soft skills in preparing themselves for the
employment opportunities.
Workshop on NET/SLET exam preparation: -
This workshop was conducted on 25th and 26th November. Faculty members, Post
graduate students and aspirant from the locality attended this two day workshop. Prof. S G
Prabhuas resource person trained the students regarding various aspects of the exams.
Workshop on Personality Development:
In association with Workforce Development Centre, Bangalore, a workshop on Personality
Development was conducted on 19th January, 2019 for the final year students of our college. 200
students were involved in this workshop. Mr.Gururaj M K, Mr NithinMirajkar&Mr.azar, work
Force Development, Bangalore participated as resource person
Business Model Competition: -
Business Model Competition was conducted to the Commerce and Management Students of
the Collegeon 16th February, 2019. Each team of three students from each class participated in
the competition. 20 teams participated in this competition. The best three models were awarded
the prize. Smt. RashmiBhat, Entepreneurwas invited as a resource person to give a talk on
opportunities for the start ups.
Orientation Programme on Skill Saathi:
An Orientation programme on Skill Saathi was organised for M. Com (Final Year) students on
28th March 2019. The Resource person of the programme was Mr.Subrahmanya. He provided a
detailed insight into the various skills required by the students to prepare themselves for the
future employment. 60 students benefitted from the programme.
Life Skill Training Program: workshop By Vasanth Kumar Nitte,
Principal. Alvas B Ed College-Moodbidri on 15/7/19. 108 Students
participated in the Program. Fine Arts association conducted the
program, Principal was presided over the Functions of Inaguration &
Valedictory.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY-21-06-2018
An international Yoga Day was celebrated in joint association with Physical Education Department, Yoga
Kendra Karkala and Government Polytechnic Karkala. Director of Physical Education Sri Krishnamoorthy
Vaidya explained the importance of Yoga in managing day today stress. Co-ordinator of Student Forum
Sri Yogesh DH was also addressed the gathering. After the stage programme a demonstration of various
yoga asanas were done by the Yoga Instructor of Yoga Kendra Karkala
ANTI DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME-23-08-2018
On 23-08-2018, “MaadakaDravyaVirodhiMaasacharane”, a drug abuse programme was organized with
association with City Police Station Karkala. Karkala City Circle Inspector Sri Joy Thomas advised the
students about the awareness of drug abuse. Karkala City Police Inspector Sri NanjaNaik told about the
importance of ragging free campus. Students were also took the oath on Sadbhavana day. Principal of
the College Prof. SrivarmaAjri M presided over the programme. 200 NSS volunteers present in the
programme.
YOGA AND ITS IMPORTANCE-01-09-2018
On 01-09-2018, a programme on “Yoga and its Importance” was organized. Yoga instructor Sri Ashok
Karkala was the resource person. He spoke about role of Yoga in maintaining physical and mental
health. He also trained the students on different Pranayaamas. Principal of the College Prof. SrivarmaAjri
M presided over the programme. 90 NSS volunteers were present in the programme.
JATHA ON CONSERVATION OF WILD LIFE 02-10-2018
On account of Gandhi Jayanthi a Jatha on Conservation of Wild Life was organized in association with
Forest Department Karkala. MLA Sri V Sunil Kumar initiated the jatha. The students with the help of
environmental slogans created awareness about the importance of conservation of wild life and
environment protection. Different officials from the Forest Department were also present in the jatha.
130 NSS volunteers participated in the jatha.
SWACHHA KARKALA ABHIYANA-27-11-2018
On 27-11-2018, “Swacchha Karkala Abhiyana” was conducted in association with Day to Day Digitals
Karkala. Cleaning campaign was undertaken by NSS volunteers in and around Karkala City. This
campaign was arranged on account of Deepothsava of Sri Venkataramana Temple. 80 students were
participated in this programme.
NO SCALPEL VASECTOMY-11-01-2019
On 11-01-2019, a programme was conducted on “No scalpel vasectomy” in association with Health
Department Karkala. An awareness is created on the new system of vasectomy. Medical Officer of
Karkala Health Centre DrKrishnananda given the explanation on the procedure of doing no scalpel
vasectomy. Other officials of Udupi Health Department were also present in the programme. Principal of
the College, Prof. SrivarmaAjri M. presided over the programme. NSS officers of the College present in
the programme. 84 students participated in this programme.
HELPING HAND TO THE FLOOD VICTIMS
Rovers & Rangers students of the college have raised a sum of Rs.60,000 / - to the Kodagu
Neighborhood Victim Relief Fund on 20.8.2018.
NATURE STUDY AND TREKKING - 03-02-2019
An Nature study and trekking camp was organized by the Yuvachethana Rovers and Rangers of
Manjunatha Pai Memorial First Grade College, Karkala Taluk in collaboration with the Wildlife
Division of Karkala Region. Students visited the Sitanadi Nature Park, Hebriand Treepark in
Manipal and participated in the Environmental and Wildlife Information Program at Seethanadi
Nature Park.
Crime Prevention Month
Crime prevention month was observed in the college campus in association with
Department of Police, Karkala on 7th July, 2018.
The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the youth about
what constitutes crime and consequences of their action under the respective laws
and penal codes. 50 students were the beneficiaries of this programme.

taken by the institution: (2019-20)
1. PGCET coaching:
PGCET coaching is given for interested students of final year B.Com and BBM to appear
for MBA entrance exam. Sandhya Bhandary, Assistant Professor took the sessions on every
weekend to prepare for MBA entrance exams. 10 students participated in this training.
1. Orientation on Competitive exam :
On 22/07/2019 a session was held to give information about various competitive exams for the
benefit of final year students. Sri. Praveen Chandra, Jain Career Academy, Moodbidre gave the
information about Railways, SSC, UPSC, KPSC and other competitive exams. Totally 340 final
year UG and PG students participated in this program.
1. JC skill development program:
A skill and personality development program was held at
college on 24/07/2019. JCI trainer Dinesh and Smt Divyasmitha Bhat gave the training on
various skills required for the job aspirants.
10 days spoken English Program:
10 days spoken English course was ended on 30-07-2019. Sri Stanyslaus RebelloTook the
sessions on English Vocabulary. Totally 60 students benefited from the program.
Participation in Business model exhibition at Sridevi Institute.
Our B.Com students Kiran Kumar, Bibin Binoy, Uzma Banu, Aliya and Keerthan
participated in Business Model Competition held at Sridevi Institute of Technology,
Mangalore on 26/08/2019 and won the special prize.
Unnathi’ 100 hour soft skill training programe
Unnathi soft skill training was held at college from November 2019 to December 2019.
Trainer Mr Naveen Nayak from Unnathi Foundation, Bangalore took the sessions on various
required soft skills. Prof. Padmanabha Gowda, Retired Principal, Sri Bhuvanendra College
Karkala has been invited as the chief guest for certificate distribution ceremony on
06/01/2020.. Totally 39 students participated in this certificate course .
50 hours bank exam coaching
50 hours banking exam training was organised at college in association with PRIME
institute Udupi to prepare final year students for the IBPS and other competitive exams. The
coaching was inaugurated on 10/01/2020. Sri Bhaskar Amin, Sr. Manager and Skill
Development Officer inaugurated the training. Sri Jagath, Staff of District employment office
and Chethan Prabhu, Faculty of Prime Institutewere present in the program. Totally 94
students were benefited from these weekend training.
GST Certificate course :
Valedictory and certificate distribution program of 50 hours GST certificate course was
held at college on 30/01/2020. Sri. Albon Antony Pierera , the trainer of the course gave a
talk on the job opportunities for these kind of courses after implementation of GST. Totally
53 Students successfully completed the course and received the certificate.
Yuva Kaushalya’ –A career counselling and skill development program
‘Yuva Kaushalya’ –A career counselling and skill development program was held at college in association with
District Skill Development Department and District Employment Office, Udupi on 07/02/2020. Sri Bhaskar,
District skill development officer inaugurated the program. During this event all final year students were
informed about various skill Development courses. The Principal Prof. Shrivarma Ajri M gave the presidential
remarks on the occasion.Faculty of District Employment office and Skill development office and college faculty
coordinated the program. Totally…….. students benefited from the program.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY-22-06-2019
On 22-06-2019, International Yoga Day was celebrated. Yoga Teacher Sri Narendra Kamath was the
resource person. He told about the importance of Yoga in increasing physical fitness. He also
demonstated some of the yoga asanas and pranayamas. Principal of the college, Prof. Srivarma Ajri was
presided over the programme. This programme was organised with the joint association of Physical
Education Department and Student Forum.
ANTI DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME-29-06-2019
On 29-06-2019, a drug awareness programme “Madaka Dravya Virodhi Maasacharane” was organised
with the joint association of Police Department Karkala and IQAC. Karkala Circle Inspector Sri Ha. La.
Murthyrao addressed the students and explained the role of students in building a healthy society.
Probationary Police Inspector of City Police Station Karkal, Sri Nasir Hussain advised the students to keep
them away from drug abuses and concentrate on studies. Principal of the College Prof. Srivarma Ajri M
presided over the programme. IQAC co-ordinator and NSS programme officers were present at the
programme. 137 students were presnt in the programme.
JATHA ON CONSERVATION OF WILD LIFE-02-10-2019
On 02-10-2019, a Jatha on Conservation of Wild Life was organized in association with Forest
Department Karkala on account of Gandhi Jayanti. MLA Sri V Sunil Kumar initiated the jatha. The
students with the help of environmental slogans created awareness about the importance of
conservation of wild life and environment protection. Different officials from the Forest Department
were also present in the jatha. 90 NSS volunteers participated in the jatha
FIT INDIA CYCLE JATHA-18-01-2020
On 18-01-2020, Fit India Cycle Jatha programme was organized to create fitness awareness among the
students and public. Principal of the College, Prof. Srivarma Ajri M. initiated the programme and told the
students to actively engage in the daily exercises which increases physical and mental fitness. NSS
Programme Officers were present in the programme. 17 students were participated in the cycle jatha
from college to Joduraste.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP-24-01-2020
On 24-01-2020, a Blood Donation Camp was organized in association with KMC Manipal, Lions Club
Belman, Mogaveera Sangha Mandhaarthi, G. Shankar Family Trust Udupi and other Associations of the
College. This Blood donation camp was dedicated to the 42 soldiers of CRPF who lost their lives in
Pulvama attack. President of Rotary Rockcity, Karkala Sri Surendra Kamath inaugurated the camp. The
Medical Officer of KMC Blood Bank Dr. shyam told about the importance of blood donation in
maintaining the good health. Principal of the College presided over the programme. Various office
bearers of Rotary Club were also present. Staff members students donated 129 units of blood.
MANAGEMENT OF SOLID AND LIQUID WASTE-29-01-2020
On 29-01-2020, a programme on ‘’Management of Solid and Liquid Waste’’ was organised in order to
create awareness among the students about management of waste. Co-ordinator of District Cleaning
Mission Smt. Meera Kumari was the resource person. She advised the students about the division of
waste into solid and liquid. Principal of the College, Prof. Srivarma Ajri M. presided over the programme.
NSS Programme Officers were present in the programme. 82 NSS volunteers present in the programme.
TRAINING PROGRAM IN GOVT. HOSPITAL KARKALA FOR NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY –GOVT. HOSPITAL, KARKALA
Program officer Ms. DivyaPrabhu participated in a Staff Training Program on
“National De-worming Day’ organized by the Health department in Government
Hospital, Karkala. Dr. AnanthKamath& Team briefed the participants on the
consumption and guidelines to be provided while distributing Albendazole Tablets.
The tablets were administered to students on 25th Sept., 2019 as Stage I.
A second round of the same ie Stage II was held on 10th February, 2020 in the
College and Youth Red Cross volunteers successfully administered the tablets to the
students in the college premises.

Event 21: Date : 29-9-2019 WORLD HEART DAY- WALK-A-THON IN ASSOCIATION WITH ROTARY CLUB -
KARKALA TOWN To raise awareness on World Heart Day, YRC volunteers of our college
participated in ‘Walk-A-Thon’ event organized by the Rotary Club of Karkala.
It is noteworthy to mention that our college won “The Best Placard/Slogan”
Award. About 150 volunteers representing MPM GFGC had prepared more than 10
placards with strong message for the public on the health of the heart. The
volunteers were highly appreciated for their participation in huge numbers and
actively shouting our slogans during the Campaign. This event was a half day
program that began by a Jatha from AnanthaShayana Circle till the Bandimata Bus
Stand followed by refreshments and a formal function in which eminent members of
Rotary club and Doctors shared relevant information on Heart’s health.

ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS JATHA - KARKALA TOWN
With an objective to raise awareness about safe driving, Youth Red Cross Volunteers of our College, took out a rally here on Saturday noon. The rally that commenced near the college campus was flagged off by the Ex-President of Alumni Association of the college, Sri SanthoshPoojary in the presence of the HOD of Commerce Prof. Jyothi LJ, Youth Red Cross Officer Prof. DivyaPrabhu, Faculty members Prof. SandhyaBhandary, Prof. Sushma and Prof. SahanaHegde. The Volunteers reached out to the public and campaigned on Road Safety shouting out slogans like “ Speed Thrills but It Kills”, “ Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer”, “After Whisky Driving Risky” and many such Placards were prepared by the volunteers in English and Kannada Languages. ONLINE COVID19 AWARENESS VIDEO BY FIRST YEAR VOLUNTEERS - ONLINE MODE
Youth Red Cross volunteers of our College, conducted an online COVID-19 awarenees campaign on two different days in two different phases and ways. On April 23 around 70 volunteers af a unit released a one-minute long video where
they created awarenses on COVID-19. the video message was shared on whatsApp
and other media platforms by all the volunteers at 11 am. Each volunteer posted
his/her video from their respectives homes. In the same way. 80 volunteers of
another unit of the college shared photo image as WhatsApp statuses, forward and
share on Sunday, April 26
NAMMA NADE KRISHI KADE - A DAY IN THE FIELDS
A Rangers and Rovers' two-day district level program titled ‘NammaNadeKrishiKade’ was held
on 22nd and 23rd July, 2019 at our college, Bharat Scouts and Guides District Institute, Udupi.
About 75 Rangers and Rovers from our college attended. More than 100 Rangers and Rovers
from various graduate colleges in Udupi district participated. The two-day camp featured farm
ideas, farm-related sports and drama by Rangers and Rovers students.
Mrs. JyotiPai, District Guides Commissioner, who arrived as the chief guest, inaugurated the
event. District Rangers Secretaries MrsSumanShekhar and Rovers Secretaries Nitin Amin,
Ranger LeaderMrsSavitri, College Principal Prof. SrivarmaAzri M. Mrs. Jyoti LJanne, the
convener of the Rangers unit of the college, and Ms Sandhya Bhandary, the conveners of the
Rovers unit were Mr. Krishnamurthy Vaidya and Mr. Manjunatha B, were present on the
occasion.
District Commissioner Dr. VijayendraVasantha distributed the certificate to the students.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
A half day workshop was organized on Waste Mangaement on 18-02-2020. Mr.
NeeladharShettigar participated as a resource person on garbage and waste management. He
gave a detailed lecture on the segregation of waste collected from houses and functions and also
the realizable value. He also threw light on income generation form waste so collected. He also
explained the damage done to the environment by improper waste management.
NATURE STUDY AND TREKKING
One day nature study and trekking camp was organized to the SomeshwarOnakabbe Falls. Range
Officer Ms.VanishreeHegde informed the students about forest, fauna and environment.
VANAMAHOTSAVA
The 100-year anniversary of Rangering was celebrated at the Dr. V. S Acharya District Level
Scouts and Guides Training Center. 60 Rangers and Rovers of our college participated in the
event and planted the saplings.
ALL FAITH PRAYER & CLEANING CAMPAIGN
On 02-10-2019 All Faith Prayer was held to commemorate Gandhi Jayanthi. On the same
occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a SwacchBharathAbhiyan was initiated
to create awareness towards cleanliness and hygiene by Mr. Sunil Kumar, President of the
College Development Committee. The proagramme was launched under the slogan of 'One
hundred and fifty years to Gandhi, five minutes to cleanliness.
In this case the cleanup was carried out in a 3 kilometer environment around the college.
CLEAN INDIA CAMPAIGN
The Clean India Campaign was held on 10-02-2020 from taluka office,Bandiamatha bus stand to
the Venkatramana temple. District Guides Commissioner Mrs. JyotiPai, Social Service
Volunteer Mr. NeeladharaShettigar, Principal Prof. ShrivarmaAjri, Ranger Leaders Mrs. Jyothi L
Janne and Ms. Sandhya Bhandary S, Rovers Scout Sri Krishnamurthy Vaidya and Shri

CELEBRATION OF KARNATAKA RAJYOTSAVA
(Language skill ehnacement Program)
The Department of PG Studies in Commerce and IQAC celebrated Karnataka
Rajyotsava on 01.11.2019. Mr. ChandrakanthBajagoli was the chief guest of the
programme. He expressed about the pride of Kannada and Karnataka.The students
of M.Com presented variety of cultural programmes. 120 students were present.
ONE NATION – ONE CONSTITUTION
The Dept. of PG Studies in Commerce and IQAC organized a programme on One
Nation- One Constitution on 16.11.2019. The post-graduate students of the college
gave talks on various topics on Constitution and India. 120 students were present.
LIVE SESSION OF BUDGET – 2020
TheDepartment of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organized the live session
of Budget-2020 on 01.02.2020 in the classroom. 60 students were part of the live

On 6/8/2020 Investment Awareness webinar was organised for the UG students of the
college by the IQAC and Placement cell. Shrikantha Lahari Sagi, an investment expert
participated as the resource person and guided the students on various investment and
savings habits.

CA/CS career Guidance Program
orientation was held at college under career guidance and placement cell on 17/08/2020.
On this occasion CA Roy Sudeep Dsouza , Mr Albon and Mr David gave the orientation on
CA/CS course. 40 interested students participated in this orientation program.
BSE webinar on mutual funds
In association with BSE Career Guidance & placement Cell of the College organized a
webinar on mutual funds on 21/08/2020 to create awareness about investment is mutual funds
investment among students . The resource person K Thangaraju from Axis Mutual Fund,
Mumbai spoke on the occasion and gave the details of investment opportunities on mutual
funds.. 88 students participated in this program.
CA/CS Coaching
On 10/09/2020 Career guidance and placement cell in association with smart academy,
Karkala commenced CA/CS coaching. 28 students enrolled for this coaching. The
trainers CA Roy Sudeep D Souza and Albon Pierera took the sessions and explained the
related matters. Principal Prof. Shrivarma Ajri M presided over the function.
40 hours GST certificate course
On 30/09/2020 Career guidance and placement cell in association with smart academy
started 40 hours GST certificate course. The resource person Albon Antony Pierera took
the sessions on very Saturday and Sundays. In this training various amendments in GST
law and filing of GST returns were discussed. At the end of the course certificates were
issued to the students. Totally 25 students participated in the training course.
24-10-2020 ‘Weekend with Prajnesh’–Soft Skill Development Program
soft skill development program was inaugurated at college. A Corporate employee and
also the Alumni of MPMGFGC participated as resource person to train the students
regarding corporate expectations and etiquettes. The classes were held on every Saturday
regularly. 60 students participated in this training program.

One day Intercollegiate workshop on interview skills and personality development .
On 02/12/2020 Career guidance and placement cell organised one day workshop on ‘Interview
Skills and Personality Development’. Sri Naveen, soft skill trainer participated as resource person
and took the sessions on personality development and conducted mock interviews. Principal Prof.
Shrivarma Ajri M presided over the function. 95 students actively participated in this program.
1. Training on Bank Exams
On 04/02/2021 Career guidance and placement cell organised orientation program
on bank exams. The resource persons came from SD Academy and conducted
sessions on various aspects of bank exams like reasoning, quantitative aptitude and
English language. 100 hours Bank exam coaching was inaugurated on this day. 220
students participated in orientation and 42 students registered for this training 42 students
registered for the training. Sri Praveen Founder of SD Academy, Udupi inaugurated the
training.
BSE Program on investment opportunities
In association with BSE Career Guidance & placement Cell of the College has
organized webinar on mutual fundson to create awareness about investment is
mutual funds investment among students on 11-09-2021. The resource person
Venugopal Ravirathfrom Axis Mutual Fund, Mumbai spoke on the occasion and gave the
details of investment opportunities on mutual funds.. 88 students participated in this
program.
NIIT Recruitment Drive:
An orientation program on NIIT recruitment for accounts andfinancerole in
private banks was organised by Placement cell at college on 12/02/2021. 300 students from
final B.Com, Final BBA and alumni participated in this program.
Entrepreneur Raviraj Nayak said “ employees should incorporate the appropriate skills to
meet the changing job requirements.Vikas, co-founder of NIIT and Mangalore, spoke
about the opportunities available in various companies such as finance and accounting. He
also provided information on skill-based courses.About 150 students participated in the job
fair, including the college's alumni.Principal Prof. Srivarma Ajri M. presided over the
program. Job aspirants were interviewed by NIITs Business Head and consultant
Miss. Pavithra.
Program on Career guidance on higher education and employment opportunities
As a part of MOU , the faculty of MITE, Moodbidri conducted a program on Career
guidance on higher education and employment on 26/2/021 in association with Career
guidance and placement cell of the college. Ms Apoorva and Ms. Verina D’souza, the
faculty from MITE gave the orientation on career opportunities and higher education for
B.Com and BBA students.
Soft skill program on ‘Corporate Expectations’ was organised by IQAC
A soft skill program on ‘Corporate Expectations’ was organised by IQAC in the
college on 12/06/2021. Sri. Vignesh S Gaonkar , Senior consultant , Cognizant, Chennai
participated as the resource person and taught the corporate etiquettes to the students.

Kaudhalya Karnataka –Skill Development program was held for the students on
10/08/2021. The details are given about various government sponsored short term courses

On 15-04-2020, an online Covid Awareness programme was organized in order to educate the students
how to face the challenges of Covid-19 and being NSS volunteers how to contribute to the society
through their service. Medical Officer of Karkala Primary Health Centre Dr. Krishnananda was the
resource person. Udupi district NSS Nodal Officer Smt. Vidya D and DK district NSS Nodal Officer Sri
Deviprasad were also addressed the students. Principal of the College, Prof. Srivarma Ajri M, NSS

SWACHHATHA ABHIYANA-12-10-2020
On 02-10-2020, Swachhatha Abhiyana was arranged with the joint association of IQAC, Youth Red Cross
and Rovers and Rangers on account of Gandhi Jayanti. Principal Prof. Srivarma Ajri addressed the
students and told about the role of students in maintaining the clean and healthy surrounding. After the
formal programme, students were participated in cleaning waork in the college garden and surrounding
areas. 95 students were present in the programme
LINGUISTIC INTEGRATION DAY-23-11-2020
On 23-11-2020, Cultural Integration Day was celebrated as a part of National Integration Sapthaha.
Assistant Professor of English Sri Yogesh D H spoke on the topic ”Linguistic Integration” and explained
the beauty of different languages and how it is contributed in promoting national integration.Students
from different streams presented their views in different languages. Sooraj Sudhakar, Alisha, Shobha AC,
Abdul Rasheed, Disha and Uzma Banu spoke in Tulu, Konkani, Kannada, Urdu, Malayali and Hindi
languages respectively. 121 students were present in the programme.
LIFE SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMME-24-01-2021 TO 26-01-2021
From 24-01-2021 to 26-01-2021, Life Skill Training Programme was conducted in association with
NIMHANS Bangalore and Yuva Spandana Udupi. College Development Committee member Smt.
Sandhya Malya inaugurated the programme. Principal of the College and IQAC co-ordinator, Counsellors
of Yuva Spandana Sri Chetan were present in the programme.Sri Vidhyadhara Hegde S, Sri Yogesh DH,
Sri Naveena, Smt. Sushma Rao, Smt. Vidya D were the resource persons. During the training programme,
various life skill activities were conducted by resource persons. 345 students participated in this training

students on effects of Tobacco consumption.Social worker of Udupi, Ms. Shaila Shyamanur was the
Resource Person. An interaction with the students was also arranged. Essay and Drawing competitions

On 05-06-2021, on account of World Environment Day a Video is constructed by NSS students on
planting of saplings by Principal, NSS Officers and Volunteers. Video also include the various articles and

On 18-06-2021, a Online programme on ‘’Yoga and Physical Fitness” is arranged on account of
International Yoga Day. Dr. Malathi Pai, Vice Principal, Government Pre-university College, Belman was
the resource person. She addressed the students about the importance of Yoga in maintaining good
health and also demonstrated some yoga asanas. Dr. Nagarathna KA, NSS Co-ordinator, Mangalore

CONSTRUCTION OF VIDEO ON INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY-21-06-2021
In order to create an awareness among the students about the practice of yoga, on 21-06-2021, a Video
constructed on practicing Yoga by staff members and NSS volunteers on account of International Yoga
day. This video is constructed by NSS volunteers. 150 Students participated.

: A clean body, a clean mind is the absolute need of the day in order to
be physically and mentally healthy. The Youth Red Cross volunteers
actively participated in cleaning the college campus this day. Both first
and second year YRC volunteers participated in the event and reached
the nook and corner of the campus right from corridors, stair cases,
classrooms, staffrooms, washrooms etc and cleaned the surrounding.
About 100 volunteers took part in the event and the entire college
community has reaped the benefit of hygienic and clean environment.
The program was organized with an intention to create awareness
regarding cleanliness and hygiene amongst the youth and also to
celebrate Republic Day more meaningfully.

Online Yoga Quiz And International Yoga Day
In order to commemorate the Yoga Day celebration, a unique activity was
organized. The YRC volunteers were suggested to learn several Yoga poses
and its benefits in advance. On the Yoga day, they shared their pictures with
several yoga poses and participated in support of the Yoga day celebration.
About 136 volunteers took part in this event.
Vijetha Special School Visit and Shramadhan 5,8,12th October, 2021
To imbibe the selfless service values to our students, the Red Cross wing
scheduled three days of visit to Vijetha Special school. The students were
divided into batches and visited the school to interact with the Specially
abled students. Also they joined in the Shramadhan of cleaning the school
ground and its surroundings.
With the object of involving the students with the society, as an extension activity,
The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organized a “School Visit” for
Final year PG students on 23.02.2021 to 03.03.2021. The students were divided
into a group of 6 each and visited the Government Schools and imparted education
on Banking Awareness and other productive topics.

Green Business Model
The Dept of Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organised Green Business Model
for M. com Final on 25-09-2020. The Green Business Model is an initiative which
focuses on innovation of new system that are eco-friendly to the environment we
live in. Going green offers numerous benefits such as contributing to the
sustainability of the environment, helping to reduce global warming etc. All the
students individually have actively participated and showed their innovations that
can help for sustainability of the environment.
