Summer Safety Tips for Seniors

From the Harrington Police Department

Stay Hydrated Seniors are more susceptible to dehydration than younger people because we lose our ability to conserve water as we age. Remember to drink water often. Check your Meds Check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure any medication you take won’t be affected by higher temperatures. Keep Cool With increases in temperatures and with some coping with chronic medical conditions, Shopping Malls, Movie Theaters, Libraries and your own Senior Center provide cool places if your home is not air conditioned. As we age we are much more vulnerable to the harm-ful effects of heat. Wear the Right Stuff Dress for the weather. When it’s warm out dress in natural fabrics such as cotton. Light colors and loose-fitting clothes help you to feel cooler and more comfortable.

EXERCISE ROOM

The exercise

room is open
