Today’s reality: increased network
capacity, density, and complexity from
the core to the enterprise; increased
competition accelerating the
deployment of new services; increased
pressure for lowering capital and
operating expenditures; and increased
reorganizations in personnel
responsibilities. And amidst all the
advances and changes, there’s a
consistent need to deploy services
quickly and properly, to optimize the
network’s performance, and to ensure
that both the legacy and next
generation equipment operate
seamlessly.
Sunrise Telecom has developed a
new generation of optical network test
equipment to respond to this reality.
Combining an innovative platform
design with revolutionary test features,
the STT truly deserves to be called the
next-generation solution for optical
network testing.
The STT offers unmatched testing
versatility with functions ranging from
high-end DWDM analysis to fiber cable
testing, SONET/SDH testing up to 10
Gbps, and Ethernet testing. This is the
first SONET test set with tunable lasers to
transmit SONET/SDH signals directly onto
the DWDM network during network
construction and troubleshooting. In
conjunction with a unique wavelength
drop to dig into each channel, The STT
can verify wavelength continuity from
anywhere in the network.
The STT’s modularity allows the
platform to evolve with the ever-
changing communications network and
to continually support emerging
technologies and the latest testing
applications. Its stacking design
architecture provides more flexibility and
versatility than any product available.
The STT offers a whole new set of rules
for optical network testing- yours.

FlexibilityVersatile feature set supports DWDM,SONET/SDH, Ethernet, Physical Layer testing
With functions ranging from DWDM, SONET/SDH,
PDH/T-carrier, physical layer, and Ethernet testing, The STT
packs more testing applications into a single package than
anyone in the industry. Not only can the STT perform multiple
functions, but it performs them simultaneously. Within
minutes, you can scan every channel of your DWDM pipe,
gathering a full report on the physical layer, the SONET/SDH
layer, as well as the status and performance of the tributaries
carried inside.
Added features, like an integrated 10/100 Mbps test port,
further enhance the STT’s value. Software packages are
available to test IP throughput, perform protocol analysis, and
monitor network traffic on LANs and even wireless LANs. In
addition, the STT platform is based on the Windows 2000®
operating system and can support Windows applications like
Internet Explorer®, Outlook®, Excel®, and Word®. Your
standard test gear can double as a PC to download trouble
tickets, e-mail results, find customer locations, and more.
We understand the realities of your daily operations and have
designed a platform flexible enough to meet the needs of your
ever-changing environment. Unlike any modular product available,
the STT’s test modules can operate independently of the control
module, giving you complete flexibility in how to configure and
use your equipment. One day, your STT can consist of the Control
Module, Network Analysis Module, and DWDM Module. The next
day you could give the DWDM Module to a colleague to use with a
laptop at a different site. Or, you could leave one of the modules
on location for an extended time and still keep the rest of your STT
available for other functions.
A flexible tool for your ever-changing networkenvironment

Expandable to meet your evolving network needs
The STT’s expandability is based on its unique stackable design with test modules that attach behind the
Control Module. You’re free to attach any combination of modules including multiples of the same kind.
Configuration is a snap. It requires only a screwdriver and the STT automatically discovers which modules are
present upon start up. Within minutes, you can change your STT from a light, single-module test set for the
field to a multi-tasking, high port density product fit for the lab. Moreover, there's no need to predict the
number of modules you may need in the future. With the STT, there's just one chassis model regardless of the
number of test modules.
This scalable platform protects your investment for years to come. From physical layer to upper layer
service testing, the STT provides a single solution. It supports legacy applications of the circuit-switched
network, as well as emerging technologies of packet-based networks. As your network migrates from circuit to
packet-based technology, rest assured that your STT can too.

Multi-tasking modularitySTT modules can multi-task to increase test efficiency and
productivity. The platform has been designed to support
multiple tests on multiple modules simultaneously. In addition,
multiple modules can function together in a single, integrated
test to provide the easiest method to obtain complete and
comprehensive results. For example, the DWDM Module
features a wavelength drop that forwards any wavelength to
the Network Analysis Module for detailed analysis. Complete
DWDM physical layer measurements, SONET/SDH layer analysis,
even tributary status are available in a single test.
Remote operationControl the STT from anywhere. The STT offers a full range of
connectivity options including Ethernet and PCMCIA adapters
for 802.11b or GPIB support. STT software runs on a standard
PC equipped with Windows 2000. Combine the remote
operation with a module in stand-alone mode and you have a
convenient and cost-effective probe for network monitoring
and troubleshooting
Intuitive user interfaceThe STT’s intuitive user interface looks as familiar as your PC.
The large touch screen has been designed for optimal use in all
conditions, whether it’s more convenient to use the stylus, a
mouse, or your fingertip. When we added features like event
scans, help, and fast scan times, our goal was simple- to
significantly reduce the time needed to test your network.
Furthermore, the consistent operation across all applications
and modules ensures you spend your time testing, not learning
new equipment.

DWDM TestingThe DWDM Module tackles the toughest DWDM network
installation and maintenance problems with ease. The spectrum
display, wavelength drop, and wavelength converter is a one-
two-three punch combination that can't be beat. And the 1.5
second update rate won't slow you down a bit. A spectrum
display across the C-Band and L-Band reveals physical layer
problems with wavelength, power levels, and OSNR. Use the
wavelength drop feature in combination with the STT
SONET/SDH or Ethernet test functions to dig into each channel.
The wavelength converter saves a ton of money, since it's like
having a channel card for each ITU-T 50 GHz wavelength. The
tunable laser source inserts a SONET/SDH signal onto the DWDM
network.
- DWDM channel analysis spectrum display across the C-band
and L-band
- Power level, wavelength, and OSNR for each DWDM channel
- 1.5 second scan time for real-time monitoring
- Dual ports for monitoring both sides of a Network Element
- Internal tunable laser source and wavelength converter
- Wavelength drop for comprehensive channel analysis with
the STT SONET/SDH and Ethernet test functions
Telecom Network TestingWant TDM from A to Z? You've got it, from T1 to OC-192/STM-
64. The STT Network Analysis Module is your single, compact
solution for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of
SONET and SDH networks. All the features you'd expect are there,
and more- whether that’s in-service monitoring, out-of-service
testing, performance monitoring, alarm monitoring and
generation, or overhead monitoring and generation. Extensive
payload mapping combinations from OC-192c to 64 kbps make
sure you’re well equipped for any test scenario. Isolate
synchronization and bit error problems with ease. Even stress the
network with pointer test sequences and frequency offset. And
the intuitive user interface won’t leave you in the dark.
- SONET and SDH testing with payloads from 64 kbps to
OC-192c/STM-64c
- Dual wavelength transmitters available from 155 Mbps
to 10 Gbps
- Error Performance Analysis conforming to Telcordia & ITU-T
standards
- Mux, Demux, and Through test modes
- Pulse mask, loopback, frequency, voice testing, and more
