Christian Initiation of Infants (Baptisms) Infant baptisms are celebrated monthly following catechesis for pa ren t s and godparen t s o f candidates. Please contact the Parish Office at least one month in advance of enrollment.

Celebration of Christian Marriage Registered parishioners should contact the Parish Office for an appointment with one of the priests at least six months prior to marriage and also attend one Marriage Orientation class.

Anointing of the Sick In the event of a serious illness or a medical emergency, the Parish Office should be contacted immediately so that the sacrament of the sick may be conferred by a priest.

Celebration of Christian Funerals At the death of a loved one, kindly notify the Parish Office at your earliest convenience so that the dates and times for the Funeral Liturgy may be arranged.

Eucharistic Adoration On the 22nd of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament praying for an increase in vocations. If the 22nd of the month falls on Saturday or Sunday, Adoration will be held on the following Monday. Adoration is also every Saturday, 3:30pm to 5:00pm.

Parish-Wide Planning Study Begins! We need your help to plan for our NEW PARISH CENTER

Over the past 50 years, every pastor has dreamed of building a Parish Center, more meeting space, for our many ministries. Today we are moving forward with this dream with a Planning Study to help us prepare for a capital campaign. The goals of the campaign are to secure the necessary funds for a new Pastoral Center. Because careful arrangement and thoughtful planning are required for any successful venture, the advice of our parishioners is essential. Your participation in this Planning Study is an important factor in making this project a success. Your input will enable us to formulate a plan of action, and together we can make educated projections concerning the campaign. To assist us, the parish has retained Guidance In Giving, Inc., a professional Catholic development organization, to work with our staff in coordinating all aspects of the Planning Study. Based on opinions and input found here at St. Polycarp Parish, the firm will guide us in formulating a plan of action and will make recommendations regarding our next steps in implementing a successful capital campaign. Over the next few weeks, every registered household in the parish will receive more information on the Planning Study in the mail. All survey results will be kept confidential. Please plan on participating in this vital endeavor. Thank you in advance for your help!

This year the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which falls on Tuesday, 15 August, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Outside of our regular Sunday obligation, the Church prescribes only a few days each year in which attending Holy Mass is required.

THANKS to everyone who participated in our Casino trip to Harrah’s. Thanks to your continued support, we raised $700 to help fund our ministries.

Casino trips are Family Support Center's only fundraisers. These funds, and donations from the community, are our only source of income. FSC distributes food to those in need every Monday and Wednesday. We also help with financial aid, on a limited basis, for those who need emergency assistance. We need your help to continue in this ministry: Last year we distributed food to over 16,000 individuals!

Please, if you are able, consider joining us on a trip. You will have a good time and, at the same time, be performing a Corporal work of Mercy. We appreciate your consideration!

Tuesday, September 19 - Pechanga Casino - 8:15 Boarding: Join us for a FUN day!! Cost is $15.00. $5.00 back at the Casino. Boarding time is 8:15am. Coffee and Donuts served prior to departure. Return approximately 6:00 pm. $15 payment reserves your seat! Reservations/payment should be made at least 1 week prior to the Casino date to guarantee seating. We must advise Casino a week prior to trip as to the number of participants. If insufficient number, we must cancel. So, early reservations are appreciated.

FSC is a satellite office of the Santa Ana Life Center. FSC provides information, and referrals for assistance. Life Center is always in need of regular size towels and face cloths. Used maternity clothes, baby clothes, and other baby items such as diapers are also needed. Please consider donating any extras you may have. We are not able to accept food donations. All donations are Tax Deductible. FSC delivers all donations to the Life Center.

“Concert Under the Stars” is coming to St. Polycarp next month. This will be a fundraising outdoor concert for our parish featuring our very own St. Polycarp Musicians, Students, Teachers, Choirs, and Priests. Our Special guest for the evening will be Bishop Joseph Brennan,

Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles and Tenor extraordinaire. Some of you may have heard him sing here at St. Polycarp before. The night will feature some of the most beloved Broadway tunes like Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the roof and The Sound of Music all accompanied by a live band. You will not want to miss this event. The concert will be held on Saturday, September 9 in the School courtyard with doors opening at 6pm for you to come and enjoy a Hollywood bowl style, bring your own dinner. Dinner foods, drinks and desserts will be also available for purchase. The show will begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets will be on sale starting next week at the parish office for $20 per person or $140 for a table of 8. Seating is limited, so don't wait. Gather your family and friends and buy your tickets soon. This promises to be a night to remember.

for prayer. When we invite Jesus into our lives through prayer, the squalls of our lives die down. With Jesus in our hearts, we are prepared to spread the good news by our lives that Jesus is truly the Son of God and our salvation.

OUR PARISH STATUES?!

The Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and

Joseph This is the second of four articles briefly introducing you to the statues in our parish church: the Scared Heart of Jesus, the Holy Family, St Therese of Lisieux, and Our Lady of LaVang. For

centuries, Catholics have used statues as reminders of unseen realities. Very few believers have been blessed with visions of Jesus or the angels or the saints and yet they believe (John 20:29). The devotion to the Holy Family was born in Bethlehem, together with the Baby Jesus. The shepherds went to adore the Child and, at the same time, they gave honor to His family. Later, in a similar way, the three wise men came from the East to adore and give honor to the newborn King with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh that would be safeguarded by His family. We can go further to affirm that in a certain sense Christ, Himself, was the first devotee of His family. He showed His devotion to His mother and foster father by submitting Himself, with infinite humility, to the duty of filial obedience towards them. St. Pope John Paul II, in 1989, entitled his Apostolic Exhortation, ‘Redemptoris Custos’ (Guardian of the Redeemer) which was dedicated to the person and the mission of Saint Joseph in the life of Christ and of the Church. Almost intuitively, one can recognize that the mysterious, exemplary, guardianship enacted by Joseph was conducted firstly, in a yet more intimate way, by Mary. Consequently, the liturgical feast of the Holy Family speaks to us of the fond and loving care that we must render to the Body of Christ. We can understand this in a mystical sense, as guardians of the Church, and also in the Eucharistic sense. Mary and Joseph took great care of Jesus’ physical body. Following their example, we can and must take great care of His Mystical Body, the Church, and the Eucharist which He has entrusted to us. If Mary was, in some way, ‘the first tabernacle in history’ (John Paul II Ecclesia de Eucharistia, n. 55) then we the Tabernacle in which Our Lord chose to reside in person, in His Real Presence, was entrusted to us. Looking at the Holy Family, we see the love, the protection, and the diligent care that they gave to the Redeemer. We can only ask the Lord, through the intersession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, for a greater love for their Son Incarnate, who has decided to remain here on earth with us every day until the end of time. https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/calendar/day.cfm?date=2016-12-30

Basado en las opiniones y los comentarios encontrados aquí en St. Polycarp Parish, la firma nos guiará en la formulación de un plan de acción y hará recomendaciones sobre los próximos pasos en la implementación de una campaña de capital exitosa. Ofrecemos la oportunidad de reunirnos en un pequeño grupo para aprender más acerca de nuestra fe. Las sesiones se enfocan en las enseñanzas y experiencias de la Iglesia y preparan a los individuos para celebrar los Sacramentos del Bautismo, Confirmación y Eucaristía durante la Pascua. Este año la Solemnidad de la Asunción de la Santísima Virgen María, que cae el martes 15 de agosto, es un Santo Día de Obligación. Fuera de nuestra obligación regular del domingo, la Iglesia prescribe sólo unos pocos días cada año en los que se requiere la Santa Misa.

BAUTISMOS PASOS :

Papás y padrinos, deberan asistír el primer Domingo del mes a las 10:00 am para registrar a su hijo(a) y al mísmo tiempo para tomar la clase requerida. Padres: Traer una copia del certificado de nacimiento de su hijo(a). No traiga el original. Padrinos: Traer una copia del acta de matrimonio de la Iglesia donde se casaron. El Segundo Domingo de Cada mes es la Ceremonia del Bautísmo a las 2:00 pm. Habra una segunda platica el Viernes despues del Bautizo a las 7:00pm. Costo $50 por niño; $25 si solamente toma la plática

"... hubo un pequeño susurro." 1Kings19: 12b Dios no viene a nosotros como en las fuerzas de la naturaleza, fuerzas como fuertes vientos de Santa Ana o como las lluvias torrenciales de este año. Como un pequeño susurro, Dios viene a nosotros en esos momentos de silencio de nuestras vidas, los tiempos que reservamos para la oración. Cuando invitamos a Jesús a nuestras vidas a través de la oración, las chispas de nuestras vidas mueren. Con Jesús en nuestros corazones, estamos preparados para difundir las buenas nuevas por medio de nuestras vidas de que Jesús es verdaderamente el Hijo de Dios y nuestra salvación.

Como el Padre Michael anunció en la Misa, que será anfitrión de una reunión del nuesta parroquia el martes, 12 de septiembre a las 7:15 pm en el Salón de la Parroquia para discutir nuestras ventanas de cristal mancha para nuestra iglesia. Giáo xứ Thánh Polycarp may mắn có nhiều nền văn hóa và sự sống động của các chương trình mục vụ khác nhau của các cộng đồng giáo dân, điều này đem đến một làn gió thánh thiện chào đón mọi người, đặc biệt là giới trẻ, là những người mong muốn có một đời sống đạo sâu xa hơn với Chúa Giêsu Kitô. Như là những môn đệ của Chúa, chúng ta giúp cho những người nghèo đói, đây là cuộc hành trình đức tin dành cho các anh chị em chúng ta trên con đường sống đạo mới với niềm hy vọng và lòng can đảm, trong một công việc bác ái an toàn và vui vẻ.

Lớp hướng dẫn cho Cha Mẹ và người Đỡ Đầu từ 7 đến 9giờ tối Thứ Ba ngày 22 tháng 8 năm 2017 tại phòng sinh hoạt trước đài Đức Mẹ. Xin quí cha mẹ và người đỡ đầu có mặt đầy đủ và đúng giờ. 9- Buổi Sinh Hoạt Ngoài Trời của Cộng Đoàn.- Để tạo dịp gặp gỡ nhau, thêm tình huynh đệ đầm ấm giữa các thành viên trong Cộng đoàn, và cũng để các Hội đoàn, Đoàn thể có dịp phục vụ Cộng đồng dân Chúa, Cộng đoàn có tổ chức một buổi Sinh Hoạt Ngoài Trời (Picnic) từ 8giờ sáng đến 3giờ chiều Chúa Nhật ngày 20 tháng 8 năm 2017 tại công viên Modjecka Park, địa chỉ: 1331 S. Nutwood St., Anaheim, CA 92804 (nơi tổ chức mỗi năm). Chương trình hoàn toàn miễn phí gồm các môn thể thao lành mạnh, các trò chơi vui nhộn, điểm tâm cafê-donut vào buổi sáng, giải khát và ăn trưa. Ban Thường Vụ đã trích quỹ để các em nhỏ sẽ có quà trúng giải khi tham gia các trò chơi trong ngày do sự cộng tác của các anh chị Huynh Trưởng Thiếu Nhi đảm nhận. Kết thúc buổi Picnic với cuộc xổ số có nhiều giải trúng có giá trị, trong đó năm giải độc đắc là $100.00 tiền mặt cho năm người may mắn. Xin lưu ý: Thánh Lễ Chúa Nhật được cử hành lúc 9giờ sáng do Cha Quản nhiệm chủ tế. Chương trình văn nghệ của Cộng đoàn Việt nam sẽ bắt đầu từ 5g chiều đến 9 giờ tối thứ Bảy 23 tháng 9 Năm 2017. Đây là một chương trình văn nghệ dành riêng cho cộng đoàn Việt Nam bắt đầu trong hai năm qua và rất cần sự bảo trợ tài chánh cho việc tổ chức. Chi phí tổ chức cho các tiết mục văn nghệ dự trù khoảng $200-$300 USD cho mỗi tiết mục. Xin quý vị mạnh thường quân và các cơ sở thương mại tích cực bảo trợ tài chánh để chúng ta tổ chức văn nghệ thật chu đáo. THÔNG BÁO CỘNG ĐOÀN.

1- Giờ chầu Thánh Thể thinh lặng.- Xin Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa lưu ý: Giáo xứ có giờ chầu Thánh Thể thinh lặng từ 3giờ30 đến 5giờ vào mỗi chiều Thứ Bảy hằng tuần. Xin kính mời Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa cùng đến tham dự giờ chầu Thánh Thể nêu trên. 2- Giờ lần chuỗi Lòng Chúa Thương Xót của Giáo xứ.- Sau Thánh lễ 8giờ30 sáng từ Thứ Hai đến Thứ Bảy trong tuần, Giáo xứ có lần chuỗi Lòng Chúa Thương Xót bằng tiếng Anh, và vào lúc 3giờ chiều mỗi ngày, Cộng đoàn có lần chuỗi Lòng Chúa Thương Xót bằng tiếng Việt tại Thánh đường (hoặc tại Đài Đức Mẹ). Kính mời Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa cùng tham dự. 3- Lãnh nhận Bí tích Xức Dầu Bệnh Nhân, Trao Mình Thánh Bệnh nhân và Nghi lễ An Táng.- Xin Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa lưu ý: mỗi khi có trường hợp cần mời Linh mục trong Giáo xứ đến ban Bí Tích Xức Dầu Bệnh Nhân cho một người, xin liên lạc trực tiếp hay qua điện thoại với Văn Phòng Giáo xứ để được hướng dẫn; và xin nói tiếng Anh, vì Văn phòng Giáo xứ không có người Việt Nam. Gia đình nào có người bệnh nằm tại nhà, hoặc bệnh viện, muốn được rước Mình Thánh Chúa, xin liên lạc người phụ trách có ghi trong trong bản tin này (trang 9) ít nhất là trước 2 ngày để được hướng dẫn. Trong trường hợp có người thân qua đời và muốn thông báo cho Cộng đoàn và hướng dẫn nghi lễ An táng, xin liên lạc trực tiếp ông Thới, (714) 317-3589. 4- Các Hội đoàn tạm nghỉ họp trong tháng 8.- Vì Giáo xứ cần tu sửa các phòng ốc của trường học cũng như các khu sinh hoạt, nên các Hội đoàn – Đoàn thể và các Ban sẽ tạm nghỉ, không có các buổi họp trong suốt tháng 8 năm 2017. Qua đầu tháng 9 năm 2017, các sinh hoạt của các Hội đoàn sẽ trở lại bình thường. 5- Giờ lần chuỗi Mân Côi kỷ niệm 100 năm Đức Mẹ hiện ra tại Fatima.- Để hòa nhập với Giáo hội hoàn vũ cùng tổ chức mừng kỳ niệm 100 năm Đức Mẹ hiện ra tại Fatima, nước Bồ Đào Nha năm 1917, Cộng đoàn tổ chức lần chuỗi Mân Côi vào các ngày 13 mỗi tháng. Giờ lần chuỗi được thực hiện tại Đài Đức Me. Giờ lần chuỗi Mân côi lần thứ Mười được thực hiện vào sau Thánh lễ 4giờ chiều Chúa Nhật ngày 13 tháng 8 năm 2017 do Hội Cầu Nguyện và Hội Đền Tạ của Cộng đoàn phụ trách. Ban Thường Vụ tha thiết kính mời toàn thể Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa xa gần, sắp xếp thời gian, cùng đến tham dự đông đủ và đúng giờ. 6- Chương trình Lễ Đức Mẹ Mông Triệu của Cộng đoàn.- Ngày 15 tháng 8 hằng năm là ngày Lễ kinh Đức Mẹ Hồn Xác Lên Trời (Lễ Mông Triệu). Năm nay, lễ Mông Triệu vào ngày Thứ Ba trong tuần nên là ngày lễ trọng và buộc. Cộng đoàn có hai Thánh lễ kính Đức Mẹ Mông Triệu: 8giờ tối Thứ Hai ngày 14 tháng 8 năm 2017 và 8giờ tối Thứ Ba ngày 15 tháng 8 năm 2017. Xin Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa sắp xếp thời gian tham dự Thánh lễ kính Đức Mẹ và giữ luật Hội Thánh. 7- Ngày Giáo Xứ chầu Thánh Thể.- Giáo xứ chầu Thánh Thể vào Thứ Ba ngày 22 tháng 8 năm 2017. Mà giống như tiếng gió hiu hiu, Thiên Chúa hiện diện trong đời sống chúng ta trong những giây phút thinh lặng, đó là những giây phút chúng ta dành cho cầu nguyện. Khi chúng ta mời Chúa Giêsu vào trong đời sống qua lời cầu nguyện, thì cuộc đời sóng gió của chúng ta sẽ được thanh bình hơn. Trong đời sống với sự hiện diện của Chúa Giêsu, chúng ta sẽ dễ dàng loan truyền Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu thật sự là Con Thiên Chúa và là sự cứu rỗi của chúng ta.

Bắt đầu Nghiên cứu một Kế hoạch lớn! Chúng tôi cần sự giúp đỡ của quý vị để hoạch định cho một TRUNG TÂM MỤC VỤ MỚI. Trong 50 năm qua, mỗi Cha chánh xứ đều mơ ước xây dựng một Trung tâm Giáo xứ, để có nhiều không gian cho hội họp của các ban ngành đoàn thể của chúng ta. Hôm nay chúng ta tiến tới với giấc mơ này qua một chương trình Nghiên Cứu Hoạch Định giúp chúng ta chuẩn bị một chiến dịch gây vốn. Mục tiêu của chiến dịch là bảo đảm có một khoản tiền cần thiết để xây dựng một Trung Tâm Mục Vụ mới. Phải có sự chuẩn bị cẩn thận và hoạch định thật chu đáo là điều cần thiết cho sự thành công trong bất kỳ hoạt động nào, cùng với sự góp ý của các giáo dân là cần thiết. Sự tham gia của quý vị cho sự Nghiên Cứu Hoạch Định là một yếu tố quan trọng để làm cho dự án này thành công. Sự đóng góp của quý vị sẽ cho phép chúng tôi hoạch định và cùng nhau học hỏi từ đó đưa ra các trù hoạch liên quan cho chiến dịch gây quỹ. Để giúp đỡ chúng ta, giáo xứ tiếp tục làm việc với công ty Guidance In Giving, Inc, một tổ chức chuyên nghiệp giúp cho Giáo Hội phát triển, họ sẽ làm việc với nhân viên chúng ta qua việc điều phối tất cả các khía cạnh của Nghiên Cứu Hoạch Định. Dựa vào góp ý của giáo xứ St. Polycarp, công ty sẽ hướng dẫn chúng ta xây dựng một kế hoạch hành động và đưa ra các đề nghị các bước tiếp theo trong việc thực hiện thành công một chiến dịch gây vốn. Trong vài tuần tới, mỗi gia đình đã đăng ký trong giáo xứ sẽ nhận được nhiều thông tin hơn về Nghiên Cứu Kế Hoạch bằng thư. Tất cả các kết quả điều tra sẽ được bảo mật.
