THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST’S LOVE From the proclamation of the Gospel at the beginning of the liturgy, we know that today is different, not only because we hear two Gospel passages, or because we hold palms and move in procession. Today begins Ho-ly Week, a time set apart, a week in which to listen, pray, reflect, and take to heart the truth of Christ’s pas-sion, crucifixion, death, and ultimately, resurrection. It takes a week, and a lifetime, to truly hear the message of Christ’s love. It is difficult for us to comprehend that Jesus willingly sacrificed himself, so we must hear the story again and again. Let this week be for us a new moment of faith in which we, together with the crim-

PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week, and commemorates the

triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified. In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey, and to the lavish praise of the townspeople who threw clothes,

or possibly palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage. During Palm Sunday Mass, palms are distributed to parishioners who carry them in a ritual procession into church. The palms are blessed and many people will fashion them into small crosses or other items

of personal devotion. Palm branches are widely recognized symbol of peace and victory, hence their preferred use on Palm Sunday. The use of a donkey instead of a horse is highly symbolic, it represents

the humble arrival of someone in peace, as opposed to arriving on a steed in war. A week later, Christ would rise from the dead on the first Easter.

Sunday, April 10, 2022 Dear parishioners and friends, Today the Catholic Church begins the Holy Week and the summit of the Holy Week will be the Sacred Paschal Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ’s Paschal Mystery. That is why – if you notice – the presiding priest begins the Introductory Rite with the Sign of the Cross at Holy Thursday of the Lord’s Supper and gives the

Final Blessing at the Easter Vigil. It is ONE celebration. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil. The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:

Mass of the Lord’s Supper Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord

Mass of the Lord’s Supper. At this celebration, we commemorate Jesus’ institution of the Eucharist, the ministerial priesthood, and the washing of the feet. There are three invitations this day. EUCHARIST: Connect ourselves with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. After the celebration, there is the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by the people during the night, just as the disciples stayed with the Lord during His agony on the Mount of Olives before the betrayal by Judas. PRIESTS: Please pray for your priests. When they try to “be conformed to the image of his Son” (Rm 8:29), they will become more the target of the dark force. FOOT WASHING: When was the last time we served someone? Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion. Dur ing this service, we will venerate the Holy Cross. The Cross of Jesus is not a sign of defeat. Pope Francis said, “Our victory is the cross of Jesus, victory before our enemy, the great ancient ser-pent, the Great Accuser”. In the cross “we were saved, in that path that Jesus chose to sink to the very lowest point, but with the power of divinity”. The Cross of Jesus is not a sign of weakness neither. It is a sign of strength. Love wins. Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord. The Service of Light begins in silence outside of the church building in the nighttime and there, a new fire is kindled, and each member of the congregation is given a candle. The Paschal candle is the first candle to be lit with a flame from this sacred fire, representing the light of Christ coming into the world. This represents the risen Christ, as a symbol of light (life) dispelling darkness (death). Easter is our joy and hope. St. Paul wrote, “If Christ has not been raised, then empty [too] is our preaching; empty, too, your faith.” (1 Cor 15:14) That is not it! The Apostle of the Gentiles tells us that the risen Christ is just the beginning of more great news to come: “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Cor 15:20) I hope to see you all at the Triduum celebration. On Good Friday, our Bishop Oscar Cantú will visit our parish community and celebrate the Passion of the Lord at three services: 12 noon Spanish service, 1:30 p.m. English service and 3:00 p.m. Vietnamese service. SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION The Sacraments of Initiation, the rites of Christian initiation into the Catholic Church, are the three Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. We receive Baptism and Confirmation once, but we are able to receive the Eucharist every Sunday or even daily. Since we receive Eucharist so often, or may not seem to be a rite of initiation but rather a sustaining rite of the Catholic Church. Through these three sacraments we are initiated into the life of full Christian discipleship. In Bap-tism, we are born as a new creation. Through Confirmation, we are strengthened to live out our faith. In the Eucharist, we continue to receive spiritual nourishment week after week.

We pray for our Parish Catechumen, as they journey toward full initiation into the life of the Catholic faith. Come to our Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 16 and be part of this very special celebration!!

DOMINGO DE RAMOS “DE LA PASION DEL SEÑOR” - 10 de abril de 2022 Reflexión al Evangelio de hoy: Lucas 22,14 - 23,56 (23:1-49)

EL MENSAJE DE AMOR DE CRISTO Desde la proclamación del Evangelio al principio de la liturgia, sabemos que hoy es diferente, no sólo porque escuchamos dos pasajes del Evangelio, o porque sostenemos palmas y caminamos en procesión. Hoy comienza la Semana Santa, un tiempo aparte, una semana en la que escuchar, orar, reflexionar y to-mar en serio la realidad de la pasión de Cristo, crucifixión, muerte y, al final la resurrección. Se necesita una semana, y toda una vida, para escuchar atentamente el mensaje del amor de Cristo. Nos resulta difícil comprender que Jesús se sacrificó por voluntad propia, por lo que debemos escuchar la historia una y otra vez. Que esta semana sea para nosotros un nuevo momento de fe en el que, junto con el ladrón que fue

Domingo 10 de abril de 2022 Estimados feligreses y amigos: Hoy la Iglesia Católica comienza la Semana Santa y la culminación de la Semana Santa es el Sa-grado Triduo Pascual, desde la noche del Jueves Santo hasta la noche del Domingo de Pascua. Aunque cronológicamente son tres días, litúrgicamente, para nosotros, son un día desplegando la unidad del Misterio Pascual de Cristo. Es por eso que, si notan, el Jueves Santo de la Cena del Señor, el sacerdote comienza el Rito Introductorio con la Señal de la Cruz y en la Vigilia Pascual

da la Bendición Final. Es UNA SOLA celebración. La celebración del Triduo Pascual marca el final del tiempo de Cua-resma y conduce a la Misa de la Resurrección del Señor en la Vigilia Pascual. Los servicios litúrgicos que tienen lugar durante el Triduo son:

- Misa de la Cena del Señor - Viernes Santo de la Pasión del Señor - Misa de la Resurrección del Señor

Misa de la Cena del Señor. En esta celebración, conmemoramos la institución de la Eucar istía hecha por Jesús, el Sacerdocio Ministerial y el Lavatorio de Pies. Hay tres invitaciones este día. EUCARISTÍA: Conectarnos con Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento. Después de la celebración, se realiza la Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento por parte del pueblo durante la noche, tal como los discípulos permanecieron con el Señor durante Su agonía en el Monte de los Oli-vos ante la traición de Judas. SACERDOTES: Por favor oren por sus sacerdotes. Cuando ellos tratan de “ser imagen y semejanza de su Hijo” (Rm 8,29), están más propensos a ser el objetivo del demonio. LAVATORIO DE PIES: ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que servimos a alguien? Viernes Santo de la Pasión del Señor. Durante este servicio, veneramos la Santa Cruz. La Cruz de Jesús no es un signo de derrota. El Papa Francisco dijo: “Nuestra victoria es la cruz de Jesús, victoria ante nuestro enemigo, la gran serpiente antigua, el Gran Acusador”. En la cruz “hemos sido salvados, en ese camino que Jesús quiso hacer hasta lo más bajo, pero con la fuerza de la divinidad”. La Cruz de Jesús tampoco es un signo de debilidad; es un signo de fortale-za. El amor triunfa. Misa de la Resurrección del Señor. La bendición del Fuego Nuevo comienza en silencio fuera del edificio del tem-plo durante la noche y allí se enciende un nuevo fuego y se entrega una vela a cada miembro de la congregación. El Ci-rio Pascual es lo primero que se enciende con la llama de este fuego sagrado, que representa la luz de Cristo que viene al mundo. Éste representa a Cristo resucitado, como símbolo de la luz (vida) disipando las tinieblas (muerte). La Pascua es nuestra alegría y esperanza. San Pablo escribió: “Y si Cristo no resucitó, nuestra predicación no tiene contenido, como tampoco la fe de ustedes” (1 Cor 15,14) ¡No es eso! El Apóstol de los gentiles nos dice que Cristo resucitado es solo el comienzo de más grandiosas noticias por venir: “Pero no, Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos, siendo el primero y primicia de los que se durmieron” (1 Corintios 15,20). Espero verlos a todos en la celebración del Triduo. El Viernes San-to, nuestro Obispo Oscar Cantú visitará nuestra comunidad parro-quial y celebrará la Pasión del Señor en tres servicios: servicio en español a las 12 del mediodía, servicio en inglés a la 1:30 p.m. y servicio en vietnamita a las 3 de la tarde. ¡Les deseo una bendita Semana Santa! DOMINGO DE RAMOS “DE LA PASION DEL SEÑOR” Dios todopoderoso y eterno, que quisiste que nuestro Salvador se hiciera hombre y padeciera en la cruz para dar al género humano ejemplo de humildad, concédenos, benigno, seguir las enseñanzas de su pasión y que merezcamos

participar de su gloriosa resurrección. Él, que vive y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo y es Dios por los siglos de los siglos.

Pregunta de reflexión: ¿Cómo puedo poner atención a la lección que Jesús nos enseñó sobre el sufrimiento paciente?

Kính thưa Quý Cụ, Quý Ông Bà và Anh Chị Em:

Hôm nay Giáo Hội Công Giáo bắt đầu Tuần Thánh. Cao điểm của Tuần Thánh chính là Tam Nhật Vượt Qua – từ chiều Thứ Năm Tuần Thánh đến tối Thứ Bảy Vọng Phục Sinh. Tuy đếm ra là ba ngày, nhưng theo phụng vụ thì chỉ là một ngày, mở ra cho chúng ta tính duy nhất của Mầu Nhiệm Vượt Qua của Đức Kitô. Cho nên nếu anh chị em chú ý thì sẽ thấy linh mục chủ tế sẽ mở đầu Thánh lễ với Dấu Thánh Giá

vào chiều Thứ Năm Tuần Thánh và chỉ ban Phép Lành Cuối Lễ vào cuối Lễ Vọng Phục Sinh. Ba ngày nối kết thành MỘT. Lễ Tam Nhật Thánh đánh dấu sự kết thúc Mùa Chay Thánh và dẫn đến Lễ Chúa Sống Lại vào đêm Vọng Phục Sinh.

Có ba phụng vụ trong Tam Nhật Thánh: Lễ Tưởng Niệm Bữa Tiệc Ly của Chúa Giêsu Lễ Tưởng Niệm Cuộc Thương Khó của Chúa Giêsu Lễ Mừng Chúa Sống Lại

Lễ Tưởng Niệm Bữa Tiệc Ly của Chúa Giêsu. Trong buổi lễ này, chúng ta tưởng niệm việc Chúa Giêsu thiết lập Bí Tích Thánh Thể, thiên chức linh mục, và rửa chân cho các môn đệ. Có ba lời mời gọi đi kèm. THÁNH THỂ: hãy liên kết với Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể. Chẳng hạn như sau Lễ Tiệc Ly sẽ có khoảng thời gian Chầu Thánh Thể cho đến khuya, giống như các tông đồ năm xưa đã ở với Chúa tại Núi Olives trước khi Giuđa bán Chúa. LINH MỤC: hãy cầu cho các linh mục của anh chị em. Vì khi các ngài càng “đồng hình đồng dạng với Đức Kitô” (Rm 8:29) thì càng bị “ném đá” bởi thế lực bóng tối. RỬA CHÂN: Lần chót chúng ta phục vụ người khác là khi nào?

Lễ Tưởng Niệm Cuộc Thương Khó của Chúa Giêsu. Trong nghi thức phụng vụ này, chúng ta sẽ suy tôn Thánh Giá. Thánh Giá Chúa Giêsu không phải là dấu chỉ của thất bại. Như Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô nói, “Chiến thắng của chúng ta chính là thập giá Chúa Giêsu, chiến thắng trước kẻ thù, trước con rắn năm xưa, trước bè lũ Satan.” Nơi thập giá, “chúng ta được cứu rỗi, trong chính nẻo đường mà Chúa Giêsu đã chọn nhận chìm vào cùng cực sâu thẩm, nhưng với quyền lực của Thiên Chúa”. Thập Giá Chúa Giêsu cũng không phải là dấu chỉ của yếu hèn. Nhưng chính là dấu chỉ của sức mạnh. Một tình yêu chiến thắng.

Lễ Mừng Chúa Sống Lại. Khởi đầu của đêm Vọng Phục Sinh sẽ là nghi thức Làm Phép Lửa bên ngoài nhà thờ, nơi đó một ngọn lửa mới được bừng sáng lên, và mỗi tín hữu sẽ nhận được một ngọn nến. Cây nến Phục Sinh sẽ được thắp lên đầu tiên với ngọn lửa từ nhóm lửa thiêng, tượng trưng cho ánh sáng Đức Kitô đang tiến vào thế gian. Có nghĩa là Đức Kitô Phục Sinh, như là biểu tượng của ánh sáng (sự sống) xua tan đi bóng tối (sự chết). Phục Sinh chính là niềm vui và niềm hy vọng của chúng ta. Chứ nếu không thì kẹt. Vì như Thánh Phaolô viết, “nếu Đức Ki-tô đã không trỗi dậy, thì lời rao giảng của chúng tôi trống rỗng, và cả đức tin của anh em cũng trống rỗng.” (1 Cor 15:14) Và không những thế! Vị Tông Đồ Dân Ngoại còn nói cho biết chính chúng ta rồi đây cũng sẽ có phần luôn. Đức Kitô Phục Sinh chỉ mới là “mở đường”: “Đức Ki-tô đã trỗi dậy từ cõi chết, mở đường cho những ai đã an giấc ngàn thu.” (1 Cor 15:20)

Tôi mong gặp anh chị em trong Tam Nhật Thánh. Riêng ngày Thứ Sáu Tuần Thánh, Đức Giám Mục giáo phận Oscar Cantú sẽ về thăm giáo xứ chúng ta và cử hành Phụng vụ Tưởng Niệm Cuộc Thương Khó Chúa Giêsu trong ba buổi phụng vụ: 12 p.m. (tiếng Tây Ban Nha), 1:30 p.m. (tiếng Anh), 3:00 p.m. (tiếng Việt).

Chúa Nhật Lễ Lá (Năm C) Theo Chúa Giêsu Chịu Thương Khó

Bài Ðọc 1: Is 50,4-7. Ngôn sứ Isaia cho biết Chúa Giêsu là Tôi Tớ Chúa Cha, sẵn lòng chịu cực hình theo ý Chúa Cha. Người đặt trọn niềm tin cậy vào Chúa Cha là Ðấng luôn phù trợ Người.

Bài Ðọc 2: Pl 2,6-11. Chúa Giêsu là Thiên Chúa, nhưng tự hạ làm Tôi Tớ Chúa Cha, vâng lời đến chết trên khổ giá. Vì thế Thiên Chúa đã tôn vinh Người, đặt Người làm Chúa muôn loài muôn vật.

Bài Tin Mừng: Lc 22,14-24,56. Tin Mừng thuật lại sự Thương Khó và cái chết của Chúa Giêsu trên thập giá. Người vô tội. Người chịu chết vì tội lỗi chúng ta, để cứu rỗi chúng ta.

Báo Cáo Gây Quỹ ADA 2022 - Sau tuần thứ 8, giáo xứ xin được tổng cộng $298,873, tức là 102% mức chỉ tiêu, đến từ 644 gia đình. Năm nay giáo xứ xin mỗi gia đình đóng góp $400 cho quỹ ADA.

Nến – Cộng đoàn Việt Nam có quầy bán nến, giá là 5 mỹ kim mỗi bình nến. Nến được dùng để đốt tại nhà mỗi ngày trong giờ kinh tối, như thói quen của các gia đình Việt Nam. Ánh sáng từ nến đốt cháy ở nhà cũng thích hợp cho Mùa Phục Sinh, mùa mà chúng ta

liên tưởng đến ánh sáng và bình an của Đức Kitô sưởi ấm mọi nhà. Quý vị có thể đem nến đến cho cha làm phép sau mỗi Thánh Lễ.

TRÒ CHƠI LƯỢM TRỨNG EASTER CHO TRẺ EM

Trong ngày Chúa Nhật Phục Sinh, ngày 17 tháng 4, sau Lễ 9:30AM và Lễ 11:00 AM sẽ có trò chơi lượm trứng Easter cho trẻ em tuổi từ 2 đến 15 tại khuôn viên nhà thờ. Các em nhớ mang theo giỏ gom trứng và các món quà lượm được trên bãi cỏ.

RƯỚC KIỆU KÍNH LÒNG CHÚA THƯƠNG XÓT

Trong Chúa Nhật kính Lòng Chúa Thương Xót, cộng đoàn Việt Nam sẽ có cuộc rước kiệu trọng thể vào lúc 2 giờ trưa ngày Chúa Nhật, 24 tháng 4. Tiếp theo sẽ là Thánh Lễ Đạo Trào lúc 2:30 trưa. Kính mời các hội đoàn và cộng đoàn tham dự đông đủ.
