PREAMBLE
On September 27,701,4, during his speech at the UN GeneralAssembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forth his suggestion forthe occasion of a 'Yoga Day'. The draft resolution proposed by lndiawas then endorsed by a record 177 member states. The firstlnternational Day of Yoga was observed around the world on June2!,20!5.

PM Modi, during his speech at the UNGA, said, "Yoga is an invaluablegift of lndia's ancient tradition. lt embodies unity of mind and body;
thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man
and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. lt is notabout exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself,
the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating
consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towardsadopting an lnternational Yoga Day."
Due to COVID-19 pandemic , this year , the theme for lnternationalYoga Day 2020 was "Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family."Therefore,a three day national virtual workshop on Yoga from Home throughHeartfulness meditation was organized on 2O'n, 2!'t and 22nd
June,2020 on 'You tube- live' platform.757 participants from 9 states
of the country registered for this virtual workshop and werebenefitted by practical sessions of relaxation, cleaning , prayer and
meditation with transmission through Heartfulness system.
On the first day, Prof. R. N. Singh, Principal and patron of theworkshop, highlighted the importance of yoga and meditation in the
everyday life and hoped that the participants will derive full benefitfrom the workshop from the comfort and safety of their homes.
The convener of the workshop, Dr. Padmavati, IQAC Coordinator ofthe college welcomed the participants and explained about therelevance of the meditation workshop during the pandemic.
Dr. S. D. Deshmukh, the organizing secretary of the workshop
explained about Heartfulness system of meditation and walked theparticipants through practical sessions of relaxation, meditation,
cleaning and prayer during the three days.
The participants were requested to share the feedback of each
session. List of registered participants and the feedback shared by
them in the form of answers to the question is being submitted at
the end of this report.

Report: The Youth Red Cross unit of Gol.t.VYT.PG. Autonomous College organized a two day
camp at Anjora village on 24th and 25th January 2020. The objective behind organizing the
camp was to sensitize the villagers about the importance of participation as voters and make
them responsible as conscious citizens. They also campaigned for girl education by reaching out
in groups to the houses ofthe villagers ensuring the number ofchildren getting education.
45 volunteers participated in this camp keeping in view the motto of the YOUTH RED CROSS
that is Service, Friendship and Health. The volunteers under the guidance of Dr.R.N.Singh and
supervision of Prof-in-charge Dr.Tarlochan Kaur Sandhu took part in the rally and performed
Street plays based on the themes. Dr.Sunita Mishra and Dr.Anita Meshram of Govt. college,
Khurshipar, Bhilai were invited to address the volunteers on the 2ndday of the camp.
Dr.R.N.Singh, Dr.Somali Gupta, Dr.Anshumala, Dr.Sanju Sinha and other professors visited the
camp to motivate the volunteers.
Outcome : The Volunteers during survey and campaign were able to interact successfully with
the villagers .Moreover they were able to generate awareness for girl education and found that
most of the families were sending their girls to schools.

On 8th May 2020, the World Red Cross Day was observed by YRC volunteers as the year 2020 is
to mark the centenary of lndian Red Cross Society, (constituted on 20th March 1920),the motto
was "Keep clapping for volunteers." The Durg District officer of Red Cross handed over masks
and soap kits for distribution in the colleges for students and faculty to follow the protocol of
hand washing and physical distancing during the pandemic times
Outcome: All the Youth Red Cross Volunteers are fully trained and are wholeheartedly serving
the communities voluntarily and whenever called upon to do so.

3. REPORT ON ACTIVITIES BY YOUTH RED CROSS VOTUNTEERS DURING TOCK DOWN -covrD-19 PANDEMTC 2020
Under the guidance and supervision ofthe Principal Dr. R.N.Singh and Professor-in-Charge Dr.
Tarlochan Kaur Sandhu, a large number of Youth Red Cross volunteers of Govemment VYT PG
Autonomous College, Durg, took initiative to tackle and fight Covid-19 Pandemic in Durg and
Bhilai regions through various activities during the lockdown. Following are the activities listed
below:
) ln the initial phase of the outbreak of Corona Virus the volunteers of Youth Red Cross
and Red Ribbon Club conducted awareness campaigns to sensitize the locals, making
them familiar as to what Corona Virus is, as an information to the community and
prepare them to control its infection by explaining the symptoms.
> The volunteers appealed the public to avoid man gathering, so that a large number ofpeople could be saved from getting exposed to infection, wash hands regularly and taught
social distancing.
) Markets, railway stations, village areas in the suburbs were targeted for distributing
masks, sanitizers, edibles etc.
> The volunteers Mridula, Kiran, Bhawna and IshaSahu along with others stitched and
distributed masks to the volunteers and created awareness through postersicollagesand
ensured to "Stay Home Stay Safe". The volunteers also distributed water and food items
to the needy on the highway.
) Volunteered by senior Red Cross Counselors and ex-students of this college Sushil
Asati, Dinesh Dewangan, Kirtan Patel, JaishreeKesharwani, Aman Ujjavalkar,
RiteshRahengdale, to name a few,AnilDewangan, Kartikey Tripathi, Himanshu
Manikpuri,Aakash, Tukesh, Kiran, Deepanshi, lsha and many others visited public places
in Durg and nearby areas mainly the markets,shops,banks,houses including the villages
in the neighborhood to generate awareness by explaining the precautions and preventive
measures to be taken during this pandemic.
! Awareness was also created through posters, poems, pictures which were displayed and
sent to other groups.
F A few volunteers participated in an event of Photography Competition, organized
(online) by The Virtual House, (A Production House at Faridabad) at all India level to

generate awareness regarding Covid-19, in which Kartikey Tripathi bagged 3'd position
and cash prize of Rs.1000.
F On 23'd March and 3'd April 2020 Anil Dewangan, Dipanshi, Aakash, Kartikey,Ritu Joshi
and other volunteers participated in an Orientation Program for response to Covid-
19.It was the first time in the history of Indian Red Cross Society to organize such
sessions in the wake of the worst calamity to orient its volunteers to rise. The training
program was facilitated by different departments of Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Govt. of India, WHO and L|NICEF with inputs from Indian Red Cross Society.
> The volunteers are also engaged in providing all kinds of services not only to thecommunity but also by taking care of animals on the streets.

The Youth Red Cross Society, Government Vishwanath Yadav Tamaskar Post-GraduateAutonomous College, Durg under the supervision of the Principal of the college Dr. R.N. Singhorganized a Lecture on "Ancient Ayurveda" on 27!h August 2020.On the said occasion, Mr.Mohan Kumar Naikkarthe'Pranik Healer' was invited as guest speaker. Principal Dr. RN Singhtold how Ayurveda is today useful and beneficial in daily life.Dr. Tarlochan Kaur Sandhu, theprofessor in charge of Youth Red Cross, while welcoming the professors present on theoccasion, gave a brief introduction ofShri Naikkarji and threw light on the importance ofAyurveda. Shri Mohan Kumar Naikkar gave information about the cure of many diseases bydifferent types ofplants. He gave information about the multi-faceted use of Sampanwood(Pathimugham) and told how by using the herb every day, we can protect ourselves from manytypes ofdiseases. In this difficult time ofCovid-I9 Pandemic how one can keep himself/herselfsafe and gain immunity by using various medicinal plants. Shri Mohan Kumar threw light on thediagnosis ofvarious diseases using fenugreek, mustard and black pepper and told that we can
protect ourselves from many diseases by using copies of Stevia plant. The programme wasattended by Dr. M.A. Siddiqui, Dr. Mita Chakaborty, Dr. Anupama Asthana, Dr. Jagjit KaurSaluja, Dr. Padmavati, Dr. S. themselves into four groups of8 students each. The students went fromhouse to house to make the villagers - men. women and children- tounderstand the importance ofgirl child education. They also narratedinspirational stories of women who after their education brought about achange towards bettet not only in their lives but in society as well.

Objectives - To increase awareness on Personal Hygiene
The goal of personal hygiene is to keep our body and the space we live and work clean
in germ-free environment. On this topic Dr. Surabhi Mahobey, Gynecologist,
Rajnandgaon delivered a lecture in a jointly organized program by women cell and
lntemal Complaint cell (Vishakha Samiti) on 17.02.2020. She talked about the good
hygiene which can help prevent spreading germs to other people and prevent illness.
Practicing proper hygiene can keep our body healthy which will create confidence among
girls from rural background. Total 25 students attended this program-

Objectives - To increase awareness among girls about Menstrualhygiene
Awareness program on Menstrual hygiene for undergraduate girls was organized by
Women cell and lntemal Complaint cell (Vishakha Samiti) on 17.02.2020. Mts.
Helinaciridharan, Advocate, Juditial member of Vishakha Samiti, Bhilai, deliverd a
leclure on Law and hygienic sanitary pads and advised the use of high quality sanitary
napkins to adolescent girls of rural areas. She also talked about the safe disposal of
sanitary napkins in the environmentally friendly manner. 22 girls were present in this
progftlm.

1,5/04/2020to30/O4|2O2O under the guidance of Dr. Meena Maan, Program
Officer (Girls Wing) and Pro. Jainendra Kumar Diwan , Program Officer ( Boys
Wing ) through online/offline mode in which, following the norms of COVID-19
Senior NSS volunteer were instructed to distribute mask inside college
campus and other volunteers were instructed to make mask at their home and
also encourage their family members to join them and distribute them to the
