Education, as we know, is not merely acquiring knowledge. It is an all round

development of a child. Our School provides an environment conducive to learning and opportunities aplenty which help them to prosper physically, mentally,

creatively and intellectually. We give equal emphasis on curricular and co-curricular activities for the holistic and integrated development of the students.

“Success is not in the trophy won, but in the race run.” The students of

Gr.6 & 7 participated in the Science India Forum’s 23rd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) in Dubai. Its focal theme was ‘understanding weather and climate.’ It

provided a platform for our students to showcase their creativity and innovation in the field of Science

Environment awareness by Hilton Hotel and Al Ain

Zoo. The students of Grade 4 &5 participated in the

Global month of services programme conducted at

Hilton Hotel in collaboration with Al Ain Zoo.

Sheik Zayed Desert Learning Centre

organized Science Week at Al Ain Zoo in which

our students of Gr. 5, 6 & 7 participated in two

various items – a) an avian show in which they

gave a picturesque description on different birds,

avian adventures; explained even the minute

details about birds and some interesting facts

about them b) a theatre show which was an

experiment based on different chemical reactions.

An Inter school cycling competition was held at

MBK school, Al Ain which was an ADEC initiative, in con-nection with the UAE National Day Celebrations. 10 schools participated in the event in which 4 students represented our school.

Gr. 1, 2 & 3 went on a Field trip to Al Ain Zoo on 12th Nov. It was really fun for the tiny tots who were out from school on a working day along with their friends and favourite teachers. The little ones enjoyed a lot and had smiles on their faces when they were out of the classrooms for one day. The location and the green grounds of Al Ain Zoo at the base of Jebel Hafeet, and the natural environment providing an authentic outdoor experience was really charming. The children loved visiting all the different animal habitats, the outdoor and indoor aviaries, and just strolling along the massive grounds of the zoo.

UAE RED CRESCENT “Service to man is service to God.” As the children

of today are growing up in an environment of extreme

materialism, it will definitely make them very selfish.

Charity or service will transform them from a selfish

consumer to a giving producer. Some good qualities like

love, sharing , caring, an attitude of service, compassion

towards the needy and the downtrodden etc. also will

be inculcated in them at this young age itself and it will sustain throughout their life. “Life is to be measured not

by years but by the quantum of seva done with honest

and sincere devotion.” With this end we inspire and

motivate the children to be compassionate towards the

needy and the less fortunate. We give importance in

developing empathy among our students so that

they should have concern for the well being of

others and the willingness to stretch a helping

hand to the needy. The whole school donated money, pulses, rice, sugar, clothes etc. to ‘Red Crescent.

UAE National Flag Day

UAE National Flag Day was celebrated on

3rd Nov. A special assembly was conducted. The students and teachers

saluted the UAE National flag. National anthem was sung. There was a talk on

the formation of UAE and the im-portance of the flag day. The significance

of each colour on the UAE National flag

With the advent of continuous and comprehensive evaluation the fostering of skills has become an integral part of the teaching learning process. Academic excellence is important but it should be accompanied with the development of the students’ personalities as well. Hence, apart from the class room teaching, various programmes are conducted to enhance the inherent intellectual capacities of students.

A Street play on ‘the need to conserve water’

was performed by the students of Gr. 6 & 7 as part of

their Integrated project, which was appreciated by

everyone including our beloved Principal Ma’am who

even expressed her wish if we could perform it for the

annual day. It was an eye opener to all and it could

convey the message that every drop of water is precious and without water there is no life. It gave an awareness

to utilize the limited resource of water carefully and

effectively.

Grade 5 students conducted a Debate in the assembly on ‘the need to conserve water’ as part of their Integrated project. It was an excellent presentation which made every one think about the importance of conserving water without wasting a drop.

UAE National Sports Day was conducted

in UAE as part of an inspirational effort to bring

people of all ages and nationalities together through

Sports. It was conducted in our School as per the

instructions of Abu Dhabi Education Council under the

caption- ‘Emirates bring us together’.

Martyrs’ day is observed in the UAE on Nov

30th every year to salute the martyrdom of Emirati

soldiers who lost their lives while defending the

sovereignty of the nation. We observed the day paying

our heart felt tribute to the Emirati martyrs who sacrificed their life in the UAE and abroad. At sharp 8 am

the UAE flag was lowered and remained lowered until

11.30 am. A pall of gloom was visible on all faces and

only the feeble sound of the flag fluttering at half mast

could be heard at 11.30 am as the whole School fell

silent in a tribute to the country’s fallen heroes. A

minute’s silence and supplication was observed as part of

the first National Commemoration day. The UAE flag was

raised again while the UAE national anthem was played.

It was a momentous occasion for each one

of us as we were not only commemorating those heroes who had lost their lives but we were showing our pride

for their sacrifices. The children were familiarized with

the word- ‘martyr’, the relevance of martyrdom, and

more over they were able to appreciate the sacrifices

made by those citizens who suffered and died for the

progress and welfare of the country..

The celebrations began with a tribute to the

martyrs. The significance of the day was well expounded by our Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Saroja Sahadevan. All were

in a festive mood and it was celebrated with much

fervour. The festivities marked the country’s union and

celebrated the spirit of the union which we reflected

through the various pavilions. The main attractions of

the day were a fashion show and an Arabic dance by our

K.G students, an Arabic song; and an Arabic traditional

dance by the seniors which was a cynosure for all the

A Majlis was made at the assembly area which

looked attractive with colourful decorations;

where Arabic songs sung by teachers resounded

the whole school. A majlis is a key feature of UAE

culture and civilization. Emirati friends,

neighbours and families gather in a Majlis during

sunset. Traditionally, most of the houses in the

Gulf had a Majlis, where the head of the family

hosted guests.

Each pavilion represented an Emirate which

was decorated with colourful flags, glitters, balloons,

laminated pictures of rulers and tourist spots etc. The

entrance of each Emirate looked very attractive which

unfolded the creativity of the little ones. Each emirate

showed a PPT on their rulers, royal family, famous

tourist centres, cuisines, culture and heritage etc. The

Majlis and the pavilions portrayed the rich cultural

heritage of UAE. Arabic culture and traditions were

brought alive at Bhavans’ Al Saad Indian School where

all the teachers and students were draped in the

traditional attires of the Emirati women and men.

and projects which promote the concept of

innovation were implemented. House boards, class

bulletin boards and two Arabic boards were

decorated under two heads- ‘Journey of Innovation’

and ‘UAE National Day Celebrations’.

A panel of Judges were called from various Indian

schools and the experiments which the students had

done were exhibited as part of the journey of

innovation on 23rd Nov. Live demonstrations were

given by students. All the subject teachers had

planned innovations in their particular subject areas

including Music, Dance, Craft and Painting. It was to

create a holistic environment for innovation.

Many innovative Science projects, working and still

models etc. were put up in different venues

displaying the creativity of our students. The judges

were amazed to see such wonderful creations and
