A Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas! Brother Knights, As we enter this sacred Season of Advent, we anticipate with great hope the remembrance of the coming of Our Savior Jesus Christ into the world. It is neither too early nor too late to wish someone a Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas! Christmas is the season that should always be alive in our hearts. Giving the greeting of a Blessed Christmas brings hope to the hearts of people who live in doubt and fear. It is a greeting that penetrates the soul and enlivens in others a sense that they have worth, value, and human dignity. While many people will stop celebrating Christmas on December 26th, we will just be beginning the Christmas Season in the Church. We will celebrate until January 9th, ending with the Solemn Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The wonderful mystery of God becoming man, the Incarnation, cannot be contained in one day. So, as we anticipate this great mystery in four weeks of Advent, and celebrate with joy throughout the Christmas Season as well. Always keeping Christ’s birth alive in our hearts. Our faith tells us “There is one God, the Father, for whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through who are all things and through whom we exist.” However, not all possess this knowledge. (1 Cor 8:6-7a) God’s love is freely given to us, and is to be freely shared with all that we meet. Therefore, do not be timid in sharing a Christmas greeting of joy, peace, and love that Jesus offers to us, throughout the Christmas Season. May everyone know this Christmas season that you are a Christian, a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, and beloved child of God the Father. Using the greeting a Blessed and Merry Christmas, is not only a well wish for another, but brings upon them a true blessing from the Christ child through you, who faithfully witness to the power of God’s love. May you, your family, friends, and loved one’s had a Blessed and Merry Christmas! May the joy and peace of the Christ Child enter into your hearts and lives this Christmas Season and always. Chaplain's Message...... A Blessed Advent and

Merry Christmas!

Recent Major Charities donations: $500 donation to each of our four churches, to be used as the Parish Administrators see fit.

Please join me in thanking Ken Landau, our Faith Director, and Trustee Terry Conroy, for spearheading two recent Council events.

Ken headed-up the planning for our annual Memorial Mass & Potluck Dinner held on November 10th at St. Alexis. THE GIFT OF FINANCIAL SECURITY With holidays approaching we get busier and busier…right through to the end of the year. It seems nearly non-stop with family gatherings, holiday shopping, special programs at the parish and at schools. Everybody gets busy! From what I’ve read about shipping and trucking delays of getting shelves restocked it looks like Christmas shopping will need to start even earlier for many. As busy are you are, here is one item that needs your attention: If you have not yet completed the Annual Survey, please take just a few minutes, and respond. It’s easier than ever; it can be done online at <www.KofCSurvey2021.org>. Your responses help your Field Agent understand your current situation better. That in turn allows him to be of better service to you. For some of you that means referring you or a family member to one of our many fraternal benefits. For others it may mean updating important contact or family information. Still others may benefit from a comprehensive look at their current insurance plans. With our new financial need’s analysis tool and a few minutes together, your Field Agent can give you an accurate picture of where you stand when it comes to your family’s protection. With our full suite of products, life insurance, long-term care insurance, disability income insurance and retirement annuities, we can help in most any situation. Our financial needs analysis allows us to gather information from you and make fact-based recommendations based on your wants, needs, and desires. With the help of computer modeling, we can look at a variety of scenarios and help ensure you are on the right track regardless what lies ahead. Now, before things get too busy, plan to meet with an agent and take a look at where you stand. Maybe you’re in good shape in one area but could use some shoring up in another. Those blind spots can be problematic, but once identified you can take the necessary steps to address them. Thank you to the many brothers who have met with me so far this year. I’ve been very fortunate to be of service to them and their families. Even as the end of the year gets busy, I look forward to helping more. Vivat Jesus! Joe Joe Latess, Ed. First Friday Overnight Adoration (This past June-2019 marked the Twelfth Year for this Project)

Since June of 2007, members of Council #3907 (many along with their wives), have participated in First Friday Overnight Adoration at Saints John and Paul Parish, which has now changed into continuous Perpetual Adoration. You are encouraged to take a few minutes each First Friday to think about the Lord, and speak to Him as if you were in Adoration at the Chapel. If you would like to continue with First Friday Overnight Adoration, that is possible in conjunction with Perpetual Adoration. If you would like a Reminder, please let Larry Emark know that you would like to be added to his First Friday Overnight Adoration Email and/or Call for Instructions on how to participate. Phone: 412-367-0525; Email: <[email protected]> Message from SSJP Karen Walker: Thanks for this/your emails. I wanted to make a correction – Saints John & Paul has (actually) Re-established Perpetual Adoration in our Grotto Chapel. Adoration is available (24) hours/ (6) days a week – Sunday through Friday. There is No-adoration on Saturdays, so that Weddings and Baptisms can take place, as well as permitting time for the Grotto to be cleaned. We appreciate the help of the KofC to commit to Eucharistic Adoration. While all the spots are filled, it’s better to have 2-Adorers (in case of last-minute emergencies or when there is a need of a sub). I’ll add that we no-longer require those engaging in adoration to Wear-Masks. We are following the diocesan COVID Protocol, which States that Masks are recommended when individuals gather indoors, but they are not-required. Deacon Tom Boucek is copied on this reply, since he is the individual who Coordinates our Adorers. Questions? Deacon Tom Boucek <[email protected]> or Call:717-433-3525. Note: Check Parish Website and Signup before you go. It is important that you sign-in, so we know that someone is present when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. Anyone wishing to participate in SSJP Weekly Perpetual Adoration can sign-up as an “Adorer” or “Sub” (Note for Security, only your First Name and Last Initial Appear).
