The Group Perspective

As 2013 draws to a close we are busy preparing for a bumper year in 2014. Levels of secured work will be at an all-time high for the Group going into 2014.

Significant projects have been secured for CRAT with the CUEL Inpex project and SPRC shutdowns and several other large projects in the pipeline. CRAM has secured the BASF 3 year HPWJ contract and we expect a significant volume of work in India for the year as a result of a large number of planned shutdowns with key customers.

We are continuing to build the team in India with the addition of Joaquim D'Souza as HR Manager and have signed the lease for our new Jamnagar workshop. We have started to build a dedicated Parex Group in Thailand under the guidance of Stefan Breet and our Tubular capability in Singapore under Robert van Oversteeg.

We also welcomed David Richardson back to the business as GM Thailand, Gunavel Rathinam joined us as GM India and Jacques Smits as our Finance Director. I am sure you will all give these new key managers all the support you can as they take on their respective roles.

Sadly Gavin Donovan will now retire having completed 14 years with the Group, whilst Gavin has agreed to remain with the Group on a consulting basis particularly for Parex jobs we wish him well for his retirement in NZ. Also Jelmar De Vries recently left the business after 7 successful years in Thailand.

The roll out of our SITS safety system is now entering phase 2 after completing the roll out of our safety passports. Under phase 2 we will make all standard procedures and work instructions available across the Group through our web site improving access to information and our levels of compliance across the Group.

Please remember "Safety is our First Priority".

Once again on behalf of the CR Asia Board of Directors I want to thank you all for your efforts to date and look forward to continued success in 2014.

CR Asia Thailand completed another shutdown for LXML (Lane Xang Minerals Limited) in July 2013.

LXML is a copper and gold mining facility in Laos and have been our customer since 2005. We recently performed a shutdown service on 5 heat exchangers cleaning.

Working in a mining environment is very different from a refinery or petrochemical plant, so special precautions are required to ensure our personnel go home safe everyday.

Lindsay S. who is a Senior Technical Advisor commented - "Excellent team work, good work ethics and well recommended for similar jobs".

CRAS executesPAREX change-out in Singapore

CRAM awarded 3 years contract

CR Asia Malaysia

In April/May 2013, CRAS performed the adsorbent change-out and grid installation at Jurong Island, Singapore. The project specification called for the supply of labour, tools, equipment and material for the planning and scheduling, co-ordination, procedure development, field and execution, and testing for two Parex Chamber adsorbent change outs.

Pre-job planning by CRAS consisted of:-

Ensuring Client and CR Asia's expectations are aligned

Assisting with the development of the T/A plans Work the detailed work scope and pass down that information to the CR Asia workforce Develop Method Statements, including checklists, for all the mechanical work

Our customer was delighted with the outcome with comments received such as; "I thank each one of you for the tremendous efforts of completing the reloads and startup to "on spec." and especially for the team work without which we will fall apart……..I am confident that the Parex chamber will perform and have 20 years run length. We did excellent work" - Turnaround Lead Planner. "Well done!! I look forward to celebrating this great achievement with you all, and to personally thank you for the hard work, dedication and commitment to do this job extremely well. Cheers!!" - Turnaround Event Manager.

CR Malaysia successfully secured the 3 years term contract for High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) and Vacuuming Services from BASF PetronasChemicals Sdn Bhd (BPC) in Gebeng, Malaysia in August 2013. The contract runs from September 2013 to August 2016. This is a landmark achievement by CRAM after a lapse of 2 years. CRAM was contracted for the same works by BPC for a period of 10 years before losing it in 2011.

There is an option in the agreement where the contract may be extended for another one plus one (1+1) year upon the expiry of the current contract in August 2016.

The works include the removal of polymer or other deposit accumulated in pipes, heat exchangers, towers, vessels and other equipment with demin water at high pressure and high flow rate at BPC Gebeng ICS and Port Tank Farm.

CRAM are grateful that BPC awarded the contract again to us and we surely will uphold the trust and confidence given for years to come in delivering good services without compromising safety and quality.

"I would like to take the opportunity to give thanks to the team for all the hard work and sacrifices you have made to make this a FLAWLESS PAREX Reload. Once again, THANK YOU!!!" - Turnaround Manager.

The whole contract was managed by Gavin Donovan from CR Thailand whose unparalleled experience helped guide the whole team through a job well done..!!

This is the first year for CR Asia India to operate as a 100% subsidiary company of CR Asia since the buyout of its Indian shareholding partners. The CRAI business and staff have been through a culture change, which has been very positive. With the support from the Board of Directors, GMD and the new leadership started by Pete Cheshire (and now with Gunavel Rathinam), the company is progressing towards a new path with new business, new markets and consolidating existing

core business. While transitions are not easy to cope with, the challenge being faced by the CRAI team has been overcome by the sheer positive attitude of our staff which is very encouraging. We have had some very good projects so far this year of which some are highlighted further in this newsletter.

CRAI recently supported Anabeeb in Qatar for their ammonia converter project by supplying BA supervisors, foreman

and technicians. It was a great experience for our team to work with Anabeeb and to be exposed to the work culture in other countries.

I take this opportunity to wish the management of CR Asia, CRAI and the staff Best Wishes to close this year well and secure many more new orders for 2014 and after.

Reliance refinery awarded the PAREX Train 2 project to CRAI in the beginning of 2013 and was executed during April / May 2013 with the support from CRAT. During this period CR Asia was executing 2 other PAREX projects already committed and was a challenge for the team to accomplish the schedule offered by Reliance. CRAI and CRAT took the challenge in mobilizing the team which was led by Stefan Breet ably supported by Gavin, Pete from CRAT and Jagajjeevan & other Indian engineers from

CRAI. The project was successfully completed with no safety incident. CRAI thanks the

entire team for the effort put in to make it successful.

Reliance awarded a 3 year annual rate contract to CRAI to provide CDT services in their refinery in Jamnagar. This is the first time such a project was awarded to CRAI. Since the beginning of 2013, we have performed several CDT pigging services for Reliance with technical and manpower support from Elvin Low and his team. Demand for CDT services is rising with many refiners building DCU's and CRAI is looking at various options to serve customer needs through investing on people and equipment. More to share in the next newsletter.

Bharat Petroleum refinery awarded the Hydrocracker NHGU & LOBS catalyst change out project to CRAI which was executed during the same period as PAREX Train 2 was going on. It was a big stretch for CRAI in terms of capacity and project management. With proper planning and manpower staffing, CRAI completed the project successfully.

CR Asia deliversultimate PAREX achievement……

PAREX Mai Liao, TaiwanFormosa Chemicals and Refining, Aroma-1

With the award of 3 Parex change outs all starting while the other is in progress, we had our doubts as to if we should tackle 3 at the same time. However with the experience that CRAT has for the internal work of these chambers and excellent support from the local companies we were prepared to give it our best effort. Up until this time we had only ever executed one at a time but had achieved an unprecedented reputation for safety, quality and the fastest schedules in all Parex change out history. Having been awarded the last 14 change-outs in Asia it was time to test how good we really were.

It seemed everywhere we turned we had obstacles in our way. Changing start dates from clients, emergency purchases of additional equipment, visa problems, work-permit delays, mobilization problems with equipment and manpower, project manager disappearing. The list goes on and on.

We finally got to start the Taiwan Parex and apart from the unforeseen problems things started to fall into a routine. Stan, Charly, K. Peerawat, K. Rangsan, K. Somchet handled all and every aspect of the change out with a very satisfied client.

Next was the India Parex to kick off with its own set of problems. But thanks to Stefan, Graeme, K. Kanit, K Sutat, K. Wichai this also came to a final conclusion and is back in full production.

Last but certainly not least was the Singapore Parex. The pre-planning that went into this change-out made all the difference. 10 months prior to cut feed we were on site with the client and involved in meetings to make sure all were prepared. Dean, Dirk, Dani, K. Juralak. K Pisit, K Pradit did an excellent job.

Very satisfied client who is sure to use us again on the next change outs.

Although all units had their own particular problems we (CR Asia) have achieved something that should be recognized as very special. Never before has 3 Parex units been executed at the same time by one company. Acknowledging that we have some lessons to learn - we need to build on this and challenge ourselves more in the future to accept goals that were normally out of our reach.

CRAS, CRAI, CRAT and our clients all came together to make sure each challenge in their own respective territories were met with a solution and allowed each project to continue to a successful conclusion.

To all involved, from the office staff to the helpers on site. "Thanks"

Pre shutdown period - Feb 2013

Shutdown period - March 2013

Post shutdown period - April 2013

This job consisted of changing out catalyst in the oldest parex chamber in operation at FCFC.

After a very short mobilization of 55 days the project team were confronted with a number of challenges including severe carbonization of the

catalyst requiring extensive jack hammering, poor weather conditions and issues with trapped hydrocarbons between previously welded sections of the bottom seal deck grids.

The job was completed successfully to the complete satisfaction of the customer thanks to the efforts of our team from Thailand working closely with UOP and FCFC Engineers.

Looking forward to the "next one".

CRAT secured a long term contract with CUEL "Ichthys LNG Plant Project" for our Pipeline & Process Services. The project is owned by INPEX Browse Ltd, Western Australia and was awarded to CUEL, located at Laem Chabang, Thailand.

We commenced the work for this project in September 2013 which continues through to March 2015 (19 months) with over 60 personnel on site. Our scope includes the provision of manpower and equipment for hydro testing, pneumatic testing,

These engineers were given two days of theory and one day of practical on how to perform proper pigging operation.

On the last day of the course, they were being tested orally and practically on the pigging procedure. All three candidates had put in great effort to do well in both the oral and practical tests and managed to pass this course to become qualified pigging operators.

They will now be given the opportunity to run a pigging shift by themselves with supervision from the senior operator until they are recommended to be upgraded by their respective mentors.

CRAS would like to take this opportunity to welcome them to the CDT team and look forward to see their achievements.

service testing, interconnecting, air drying and air blowing.

The project will be accumulating CRAT's man hours without lost time injury to ensure that we achieve the 7.5 million man hours without LTI target.

CR Asia Singapore initiated a three-day CDT training course under top management instruction on 15th - 17th July 2013 in the CR Asia India yard in Jamnagar. This training was especially for three CRAI project engineers (Dhanajay Shetty, Suraj Shetty and Jaypal) whom are highly recommended by CRAI's management.

The objectives and goals of the course was to transfer technical knowledge to the local crew to increase the productivity standard of CDT projects on jobsites in India and to foster a better working understanding/relationship between CRAS and CRAI CDT personnel. This benefit of having the local crew trained as operators will eventually be passed on to the client.

Upon their call up, CRAT was able to organize manpower, consumable piggs and pigging machines to their site to execute the pigging project safely and completed the project timely as well.

CRAS and CRAT CDT teams have once again - worked together to execute pigging projects to our clients' satisfaction.

CRAS would like to take this opportunity to thank CRAT for giving us a chance to assist their customers with their emergency shutdown requests. We hope we can do more pigging work together next year.

CRAS received two emergency calls from CRAT (Division Manager Khun Rung) within a 14 days gap. One call was on 20th May for assisting a customer for one heater (VBU) but after we had completed this heater on 23rd May, we were again requested to assist them for another two heaters which had initially been awarded to our competitors.

We had successfully completed the other two heaters for them also within the given shutdown window (22nd to 27th May 2013). Our client was delighted and very satisfied with

In May 2013, CRAS performed the catalyst change-out of a 5 bed MPHC reactor (350m3) ata refinery in Singapore.CR Asia was once again brought into execute this monolithic 5 bed hydrocracker unit. The Clients "TIER 1 best practice" was implemented. This initiative has been devised to prevent or eliminate safety issues that are of higher risks. Hybrid catalyst dumping was also utilized to eliminate inert entry.

The basic job steps were as follows: gravity unloading (dry dumping under N2 to recover as much catalyst as possible for metal recovery. This achieved 80% catalyst recovered) fill with water and purge (although the vessel was flooded and overflowed with water a high LEL measuredin beds 4 & 5. This was overcome by using a vacuum unit to skim off the hydrocarbons floating on top of the water) manual dig-out

opening the trays (by CR's skilled reactor mechanical teams) dense loading and box up project post job reporting

On completion of the works CRAS produced a detailed report highlighting the before and after condition of materials. We also highlighted the issues for continued improvements and offered advice on how the reactor unloading/ reloading methods and any safety procedures may be improved.

CR Asia Singapore

The last few months have been generally successful in regard to maintaining good safety results across the CR Asia Group. One LTI has been recorded from the group businesses, year to date, which translates into a total LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) of 0.37 year to date. This one LTI is one too many and despite our constant strive for a Zero Harm environment for all of our staff, has occurred. However, it is an improvement on previous results which is one positive to be taken on board.

There have been and continue to be some outstanding achievements within some of the Group's companies. CRAT staff has passed 6 million man-hours without a LTI and are currently heading for 7 million. This is a great result to date and everyone there at CRAT should take great pride and satisfaction from these milestones. CRAS, CRAM & CRAI have all achieved improved safety results and should also feel proud of any improvement made in their safety performance. At the same time, we must all remember that Safety is a constant journey and not a

destination that can be reached and then forgotten about.

To all of our hard working and constantly vigilant Safety Managers, Safety Supervisors & Safety Officers around the Group, I strongly encourage you to continue your efforts with your safety campaigns and safety training. This is especially important as we approach the end of the year and people's minds start wandering off to thoughts of end of year parties and New Year holidays. I also encourage you to keep everyone involved with your incident prevention ideas; right from your company management teams & administration staff, through to all of the operations people on site.

To all of our hard working company General, Divisional & Project Managers, I encourage you to take a personal interest in our safety campaigns and to be actively involved alongside all of your staff. Leading by example, from the front, has long been proven to be a very effective strategy for achieving desired results.

To all of our hard working supervisors, and operations teams, your role, as the people constantly exposed to the harsh & hazardous environments that we work in, is to be constantly self vigilant and to look after your team mates. Follow Instructions, procedures & safety work permit restrictions and don't take short cuts! Please also keep in mind that no matter which position or designation you hold, you are entitled to question safety standards, unsafe conditions or unsafe acts and to stop any work deemed to be unsafe.

Let's all work together to create a "Zero Harm" environment for our CR Asia Group team and to get everyone home safely at the end of their working day.

CR Singapore is a tight and packed working environment. Not much space at all. So when we need to offload a 40ft CDT Twin Pumper onto our laydown area that can be challenging. We call in the "Big Boy" - a Tadano Faun 160 ton Mobile crane.

With the main office building less than 15ft away on the left and a car park less than 10ft from the lifting area, that is tight and not to mention that we are blocking the main drive way. This can be tricky.

But with the adequate tool and proper equipment and a trained manpower and with proper communication and good planning, the hard challenge can be surmounted and executed safely without any hitch. We learnt our lesson well from the 2009 crane incident at this very spot.

After more than 1 year of discussions, presentations and negotiations, the preparations team for the SPRC RFCCU project mobilized to site at Maptaphut, Rayong, in July of this year. During the next 7 months, all the planning, scoping and preparations for the event will take place, culminating in the turnaround itself commencing in February 2014. The current schedule is planned for 40 days, with the mechanical window available for 28 days.

The event will carry out both regular maintenance / cleaning and major re-vamp work, including the cutting off of the reactor top and replacement with a new design of unit and cyclones. CRAT will execute specialist cutting services using HP water jet cutting, diamond wire and diamond wall-saw cutting to support the mechanical works.

CR Asia Thailand has been awarded a broad workscope, reflecting the confidence placed

on the company from a long term partner in SPRC. Basically, as an extension to the 'umbrella' term contract arrangement already in place with SPRC. This additionally includes; T/A management and supervision; mechanical and HPWJ works for HEX's, columns, and drums/fin-fans; catalyst change-outs; decontamination and mercury monitoring; bolt torquing and tensioning; specialist cutting; furnace decoking and intelligent pigging support; vacuum truck services and waste management support.

Current projections are for upto 1000 personnel on site at peak, all of whom will have undergone the mandatory Incident and Injury Free (IIF) training before coming to work on the event. This aims to deliver a best in class event where there are no injuries to people or incidents impacting on either people or equipment. This is a challenge that the team is up for and will give their best efforts to achieve this!!
