Jaipur: The wildlife de-partment has sounded a bird flu alert after hun-dreds of crows, pea-cocks, and other birds died in the last one week. Several cases of avian influenza have come to light in Jhal-war, Kota, Baran, Jodh-pur, and many peacocks died due to reported poi-soning in Nagaur.

According to officials, more than 300 crows have died in the last week. Principal Chief Wildlife Conservator ML Meena has issued orders for high alert in National Parks, Tiger Projects, Sanctuaries, and conservation re-serves in the state. Keep in mind that this season is also of migratory birds and avian influ-enza spreads very fast, there is a risk of infec-tion in humans too.

In Jhalawar, Section 144 and zero mobility was enforced after the cases were reported. In the order issued by Mee-na, it is stated that on the basis of lab in Bho-pal, H5 avian influenza has been found in the samples of dead birds in Jhalawar.

It is dangerous as it spreads fast. Meena has written in his order that special monitoring

should be done in the forest protected areas as well as in wetlands. In fact, thousands of birds died in Sambhar last year.

A virus called avian botulism was then found in the investiga-tion. Bird flu is much more dangerous than it. If its transmission started, then more local birds became a carrier than migratory birds.

Some parts of Jaipur witnessed light rains on Saturday.

fter a year of toxic stress ig-nited by so much fear and u n c e r t a i n t y,

now is a good time to reset, pay attention to your men-tal health and develop some healthy ways to man-age the pressures going forward.

Brain science has led to some drug-free techniques that you can put to use right now.

I am health psychologist who developed a method that harnesses our rip-roaring emotions to rapid-ly switch off stress and activate positive emotions instead. This technique from emotional brain training is not perfect for everyone, but it can help many people break free of stress when they get stuck on negative thoughts. Why the stress response is so hard to turn off

Three key things make it hard to turn off stress-acti-vated negative emotions:

First, our genes make us

worrywarts. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors sur-vived by assuming every rustle in the grasses was a lurking hungry lion, not harmless birds hunting for seeds. We’re essentially programmed to be hypera-ware of threats, and our brains rapidly launch stress chemicals and nega-tive emotions in response.

Second, the chemical cascade of stress hor-mones in the brain associ-ated with negative emo-tions impairs cognitive flexibility, goal-directed behavior and self-control.

Third, our tendency to avoid dealing with nega-tive emotions puts people in a perpetual cycle of ig-noring unpleasant feel-ings, which amplifies stress and the risk of emo-tional health problems.

Traditional approaches for coping with stress were based on cognitive-behav-ioral therapy, which focus-es on modifying patterns of thinking and behavior. It was developed before our modern understanding of stress overload.

Researchers at New York University discovered a paradox: Although cogni-

tive methods were effective in low-stress situations, they were less effective when dealing with the high stress of modern life.

Emotional brain train-ing works with these high-stress emotions in an effort to tame them, releasing negative emotions as the first of two steps in pre-venting stress overload.

STEP 1: RELEASE NEG-ATIVE EMOTIONSThe only negative emotion in the brain that supports taking action rather than avoidance and passivity is anger.

Studies have shown that the suppression of anger is associated with depression and that sup-pressing anger doesn’t re-duce the emotion. Healthy release of anger instead has been found to reduce other stress-related health risks.

Our technique is to switch off stress overload by using a controlled burst of anger to help the brain exert better emotional control and allow emo-tions to flow rather than become chronic and toxic. After that first short burst, other feelings can flow,

starting with sadness to grieve the loss of safety, then fear and regret, or what we would do differ-ently next time.

You can talk yourself through the stages. To ex-periment with the process, use these simple phrases to express the negative feel-ings and release your stress: “I feel angry that …”; “I feel sad that …”; “I feel afraid that …”; and “I feel guilty that …”STEP 2. EXPRESS POSI-TIVE EMOTIONSAfter releasing negative emotions, positive emo-tions can naturally arise. Express these feelings us-ing the same approach: “I feel grateful that …”; “I feel happy that …”; “I feel se-cure that …”; and “I feel proud that …”

resident Donald Trump to the relief of most Americans, but also of a humankind, will va-cate the White House on 20th January. What will history make of him. He will not be for-gotten. He has wantonly dimin-ished the headlights of the American Constitution, one of the greatest in the World. He hired able and competent indi-viduals to his staff, then fired them on the phone or on twit-ter. His sugared charlatanism discredited American politics. Sometime in the future a psy-chologist should study the fur-niture of his mind.

His amazingly thick skin makes him the most insensitive President ever. He is indifferent to what decent, normal people call truth, morality and ethical conduct. He has, before demit-ting office pardoned well known crooks and thugs, even though he is in fact a lame duck Presi-dent. To this day he continues to declare the presidential elec-tions was flawed. Actually he maintains he was the winner.

What is his visions of Amer-ica and the World. Soon after assuming office he had a public swipe at NATO. Then followed his obsession with North Ko-

rea-yes. North Korea of all places in the World. Nothing came of it. In brief he does not perhaps does the meaning of compos mentis. On the contra-ry he is not in control either on his mind or his tongue.

Will he attend the swearing in ceremony of President Joe Biden on 20th January. That one should asks such a ques-tion is a left handed tribute to his unpredictability.

President Trump had little in-terest in South America and none in Africa. One must how-ever concede that he has daringly changed the foreign policies of several Arab countries and be-stowed fresh respectability to that extra ordinary nation Israel.

On the whole his interest in India is not phoney. During his visit to India last February he did not put a foot wrong. He has got on well with Prime Minister. A well known English daily got it spot on. It wrote in its edito-rial, “When Donald Trump vis-ited India….. bilateral ties were elevated to a ‘comprehensive global strategic partnership’. It mainly meant that defence im-ports from the U.S were gallop-ing and that the White House acknowledged India as the most useful regional power. The ever-looming shadow of Pakistan over Indo-U.S ties had finally been overtaken by the realisa-tion in Washington that Islama-bad is important only in the context of Afghanistan but In-dia’s external canvas is expo-

nentially wider.” However there is a serious lacuna. The U.S un-doubtedly recognises our secu-rity needs, but there have been no economic concessions.

How will Mr. Trump act after 20th January. It is not in his na-ture to verbally restrain him-self as past Presidents do. He will not sit still. He will make life difficult for his successor for whom he has no respect. More importantly he will not let the Republican Party slumber. He will make it into a sharp politi-cal weapon to ensure his re-en-try into the White House in 2024.

That Congress is suffering from several maladies. This is a national tragedy. The one per-son who can or could keep it from going to seed is, it seems is seriously unwell. For the first time Sonia Gandhi was not pre-sent at the annual function or-ganised at 24 Akbar Road to observe the one hundred thirty fifth anniversary of the found-ing of the Indian National Con-

gress. Shri Rahul Gandhi was also absent. He is abroad. Spec-ulation is ripe about his where-abouts. I shall give him the ben-efit of doubt. He has gone to It-aly to be with his ailing grand-mother, who is, like me, in her nineties. Had Rahul Gandhi made known the purpose of his tour, mystery would have been avoided. The Gandhis are con-genitally secretive about their foreign jaunts. Why? Their party colleagues and workers are entitled to know how and where their leaders are and how long will they be away.

Now that Sonia Gandhi is more or less non-functional and in semi-purdha, she is tem-porary Congress President. A full time, dedicated president is needed. Apparently Rahul Gan-dhi is not keen to occupy the “Gaddi”, inspite of his mother wanting him to do so. On whose shoulders will the burden fall? No one is in sight. Hence the Gandhi Raj will continue. But sooner rather later, like the later Mughals become a foot-note in history, except for the great Jawaharlal Nehru.

The R.S.S has brought out a one thousand page (this may not be the exact figure) book on Gan-dhiji, depicting him as a good Hindu. I intend reading it to find out how Shri. Mohan Bhagwat and his co-authors have deline-ated the Mahatma’s personality.

INDIA PLAYERS UNDER PROBE FOR EATING OUT

ith the third Test against Australia due to start from January 7, five India play-ers have been put in isolation for a pos-sible breach of the bio-security protocol. The players include vice-captain Rohit

Sharma, wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, opening batsman Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and medi-um-pacer Navdeep Saini were under joint investi-gation by the BCCI and Cricket Australia for the suspected breach after a video of the five cricket-ers eating in restaurant was put on Twitter by a fan who paid the Aus $ 118.69 bill of his “super-stars”. The probe is to ascertain if the eating out constituted violation of social distancing protocol. The medical teams advised the players to be put under isolation. The players will be segregated from the Indian and Australian squads.

The BCCI has denied that the outdoor eating constituted a breach but till the probe is on the players will have to remain in isolation. The strict protocols are in place in view of Covid-19. In case the charge against these players is proved to be true, sanctions are likely to follow. To get an idea, Jofra Archer was banned for a Test following a breach during the England-West Indies series. In-dian players would therefore be well aware of the consequences of breaking rules. These are proto-cols they followed during Indian Premier League.

Breach of Covid-19 protocol led to Pakistan players in the neighbouring New Zealand being warned by the country’s government and the cricket authority that they will be sent back. Six Pakistani players had tested positive for Covid upon their arrival in New Zealand.

VACCINE BELONGS TO SCIENTISTS, NOT BJP

n a day when a vaccination mock drill was carried out across states to test the preparedness of a huge army of vacci-nators, doctors, health workers and hos-pitals, the subject expert committee of

the Drugs Controller gave its approval for emer-gency use of Covaxin, a Covid-19 vaccine produced by Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council of Med-ical Research (ICMR). Unlike Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine, Covaxin is indigenous-ly developed. Both the vaccines now await the final nod from the Drugs Controller-General of India (DCGI). The DCGI nod is expected soon. Once cleared, the one crore frontline health workers will be administered the vaccine on priority.

All through Saturday the complete vaccination process was rehearsed before the real vaccine is rolled out to save lives. At the end of the day the dry run was declared successful in terms of logis-tics, cold chain and data monitoring. States said they were ready for the final rollout of the vaccine. Uttar Pradesh, which also tested its preparedness with dry runs at six hospitals in Lucknow, said the exercise was successful.

While the dry run has given hope to millions of Indians, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Ya-dav chose to play politics by refusing to get vacci-nated “for now” as he wasn’t ready to “trust BJP’s vaccine”. That’s sending out a wrong message for the masses who could be harbouring their own doubts about the vaccine. A similar doubt was cre-ated before the launch of the polio vaccine. It took a lot of efforts to remove the unfounded fears before polio eradication became India’s success story.

Our govern-ment’s commitment to the welfare of farmers is unparalleled,” Ja-vadekar tweeted. On Fri-day, over 850 academi-cians from different parts of the country came out strongly in sup-port of the agricultural reform laws brought by the government, saying these Acts seek to free farm trade from restric-tions and enable farmers to sell their produce at competitive prices.

In a statement, the academicians who also include a few Vice-Chancellors, said that union government has repeatedly assured the farmers that these three farm laws will not do away with Minimum Support Price (MSP) “but rather free the farm trade from all il-

licit market restrictions, open the market beyond ‘mandis’ and further as-sists the small and mar-ginal farmers to sell their produce at mar-ket/competitive prices”.

“The new laws also provide full autonomy for farmers to sell their produce. We strongly believe in the govern-ment’s assurance to the farmers to protect their

livelihoods. The gov-ernment is still firmly committed to delivering the principle of mini-mum government, max-imum governance,” the statement said. —ANI

75-YR-OLD PROTESTING FARMER FOUND DEAD AT DELHI-GHAZIABAD BORDERNew Delhi: A 75-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was found dead today at a farmers’ protest site on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border. While the police prob-ing the case, those at the site say a note written by the dead man, Kashmir Singh Ladi, has been found in which he has expressed his frustration over the stalemate in talks with the government over the new agricultural laws that the farmers want repealed. Ladi’s body was found inside the toilet at the site, along with his note in which he has held the central government responsible for his death, according to the Bharatiya Kisan Union. “Till when shall we sit here in the cold? This government isn’t listening at all. Hence, I give up my life so that some solution emerges, Ladi’s note reportedly says. It also wants his grandsons to perform his final rites at the protest site itself. The note is now with the police. —Agencies

and brain infections, loss of memory, heart disease and diabetes are coming out which is a matter of concern. To ensure that such pa-tients do not face health problems in future, for this special emphasis should be given on post covid treatment and an effective guideline should be prepared for this,” Gehlot said.

The CM said that the State Government has arranged a Post Covid Clinics to save people from the ill effects of Covid, but due to lack of awareness people are not able to take full ad-

vantage of it. He in-structed the authorities that information should be conveyed to all Co-rona patients that they should contact the doc-tor for proper treatment even after recovering. Apart from ensuring the various side effects of Covid and necessary facilities for their treat-ment, the general pub-lic should be made aware by making wide publicity so that neces-sary treatment can be taken in time, he said.

Gehlot said that due to decisions like night curfew and better man-agement, the condition

of Corona in the state is now largely under con-trol. “The death rate is steadily decreasing and the recovery rate is in-creasing. Also, the num-ber of positive cases has reduced considera-bly, Gehlot said and keeping in view the positive results of these decisions, he directed to continue the ban on various activities in-cluding continuing with night curfews for the next few days.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the success of ‘Dry Run’ in the state for vac-cination of Covid.

“With the decrease in the number of Covid patients, our fast grow-ing steps in the direc-tion of vaccination are a pleasant sign. Our endeavor is to start vac-cination in the state at the earliest and that more and more people benefit from it,” he said. Along with the transportation of the vaccine, Gehlot laid special emphasis on training and encourag-ing people to get them-selves vaccinated and clearing the misconcep-tions about it.

Gehlot said that the state government has

selected ‘swastha mi-tra’ to help patients suf-fering from various dis-eases get treatment in government hospitals. “For this, doctors and health officers from district hospitals to health sub-centers should be directed to cooperate with swastha mitras,” he said..

Medical and Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma said that due to less number of corona positive patients in var-ious hospitals of the state, directions have been issued to notify ESI hospital as non-cov-id, to lower the number

of covid beds from 40 percent to 30 percent in hospitals with more than hundred beds and from thirty to twenty percent in hospitals with less than hundred beds.

In the presentation on the status of Cov-id-19, Secretary - De-partment of Medicine and Health, Siddharth Mahajan said that there are 9,223 active cases of Corona in state which is equal to the number of last week of July. The re-search, published in Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immu-nology: In Practice, summarised what is currently known about allergic reac-tions to vaccines like

those developed against COVID-19. 1,200 migratory birds die at Pong DamNew Delhi: Biologists on Saturday sounded the alarm with over 1,000 migratory birds, largely the endangered bar-headed goose, a highest-altitude mi-grant, were found dead over the past one week or so in Pong wetlands one of the largest in northern India in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Conservator Wild-life (Pong wetlands) Upasna Patyal told the reason for the deaths is still a mystery as their carcasses have been sent to different labora-tories to determine their cause of death, but it could take days or a week to get results.

5 states have highest active Covid-19 cases: Health Ministry5 states have contributed nearly 62% of the country’s active cases of the coronavirus disease which stands at 254,254, the Union ministry of health said on Saturday. Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, the ministry said, together contributed 157,106 to the country’s current tally of active cases.

Shiva sculpture at Azhimala temple opens for public

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Kerala’s tall-est Shiva sculpture con-structed at Azhimala temple near Kovalam here has been opened for the people.

Construction of the 58-feet tall sculpture in Gangadhareswara fig-ure in the cliff of Azhi-mala beach started six years ago. 29-year-old PS Devadathan is the person behind the sculpture of the temple. He started his work at the age of 23 and kept working on the sculp-ture along with his graduation in fine arts.

“We have to take proper care during con-struction since the sculpture is near the sea. The sculpture should resist the water and salt content. So, we have mixed some chem-icals with cement to re-sist saltwater. I did com-plete research after fin-ishing the drawing and 3D images. It has built-in rock, so we have checked the density of rock, wind load and cal-

culated the weight,” he said. “This place is beautiful and influ-enced me. I thought about how to make it more beautiful. I have visualized it in mind and created the design. As a native of this place, I have an idea about na-ture. I have adjusted my work accordingly,” he said. The 29-year-old said that he had several limitations since it was a religious structure.

“People had an im-agination about Shiva in their mind. A visual impact is more than words. There is a con-nection between visual and emotion. I have tried to feel a mixed emotion in the mind of a visitor and help to feel positive,” he added.

“This picture of Gan-gadhareswara Shiva signifies prosperity. It is a very energetic one. When I made this hair, I felt to do it rhythmical-ly. I tried to bring all emotions in this sculp-ture. Its height is about 58 feet,” he said. —ANI

Kota: Lok Sabha Speak-er Om Birla on Satur-day said that the Minis-try of Home Affairs has authorised the states to open coaching classes by following corona guidelines. In this re-gard, he has also writ-ten a letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, urging him to start offline coaching

classes in Kota. He hoped that soon the Ra-jasthan government would take a positive decision on it.

Birla said this while addressing the media persons in Kota on Sat-urday at a private ho-tel. Birla said that the last 16 speakers in the Lok Sabha have en-hanced the dignity of Parliament. He said that 17th Lok Sabha

will be remembered for many big decisions in-cluding the new Parlia-ment building.

On a query about starting air service in Kota, Birla said that discussions are going on with the Civil Avia-tion Department of the state government. In January 2021, there will be a re-survey on the availability of land for the new airport. The

state government was only willing to give 572 hectares of land as against 876.

But in the renewed negotiations, a consen-sus is being formed in between Centre and the state. The Chief Minis-ter is also positive about this issue, he said.

Birla also held a pub-lic hearing in Bundi Circuit House and lis-tened to the public.

Solution will come in next round of talks: KailashREFORMS ARE NECESSARY AS THE PRIME MINISTER WANTS FARMERS TO BECOME ‘ATMA NIRBHAR’

New Delhi: Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Kailash Choudhary on Saturday expressed his confidence citing that the next round of talks with farmers would bring a solution and conclude the impasse.

Speaking to ANI, Choudhary said, "I am confident that in the next round of talks with farmers a solution will be reached and the ongoing protest will come to an end. The Government of India had already agreed their demands of de-criminalising stubble burning, the continu-ance of power subsidies and provisions of civil courts." On the issue of two key demands of farmers including a le-gal guarantee of mini-mum support prices (MSP) and repeal of three new farm laws, he said, "The three farm laws are in favour of

farmers. There should be no confusion on MSP. The prime minister himself said many times that the provision of selling crops at MSP will continue."

He said the reforms are necessary as the prime minister wants farmers to become 'atma nirbhar' (self-reliant). "It was the long-stand-ing demand from farm-ers to do away with the system of middlemen and sell their produce at a price of their choice," added the minister.

Choudhary empha-sised, "In the new law,

there is no provision of penalty and fine to farmers regarding con-tract farming. Whereas, Punjab has its own con-tract farming law, which includes the pro-vision of punishment. "

Farmers have been agitating at the gates of the national capital since November 26 against the recently en-acted three farm laws -- the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facili-tation) Act, 2020; the Farmers (Empower-ment and Protection) Agreement on Price As-

surance and Farm Ser-vices Act, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

The sixth round of talks between the Union government and the farmers' unions took place on Wednesday. While a consensus was reached on issues relat-ed to the environment and Electricity Act, the deadlock continued on the two main demands, legal assurance on MSP and complete rollback of the three farm laws.

The next round of talks will take place on January 4.

Ajmer Dairy brings laurels to RajasthanKaushal Jain

Ajmer: North India’s high-tech dairy plant, Ajmer Dairy has brought laurels for the state as its high quality white butter has made Rajasthan number sup-plier in the country. Buta Singh: An adept politicianwho sailed through turbulent yearsLaxman Raghav

Bikaner/New Delhi: With his ear to the ground and eye on the national politics, Con-gress veteran Buta Sin-gh was the quintessen-tial politician who sailed through the most turbulent years of In-dian politics with deft-ness and diligence, and went on to become the virtual No. 2 in the Ra-jiv Gandhi government in the late 1980s.

Former Union home minister Singh, who re-mained in public ser-vice for a long time and served under four prime ministers, died at the AIIMS here on Saturday morning. He was 86.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, PM Narendra Modi and for-mer PM Manmohan Singh condoled his de-mise. CM Ashok Gehlot expressed grief at the demise of Singh. “Sad to learn about the de-mise of a former union minister, senior Con-

gress leader and former MP from Rajasthan, Shri Buta Singh ji. My heartfelt condolences to his family members in this time, may God give them strength to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace,” Gehlot wrote on Twitter.

Former CM Vasunda-ra Raje said Singh, as an

MP from Jalore, had set an example of courtesy in Rajasthan politics. Energy minister BD Kalla also expressed his condolences. In a cheq-uered political career spanning over five dec-ades, Singh often found himself at the centre of major controversies, but he always found a way to bounce back.Born into a humble ‘mazhbi’ Sikh family in Mustafapur in Punjab’s Jalandhar dis-trict on March 21, 1934, Singh was a member of LS for eight terms, held several positions in var-ied ideological dispensa-tions at the Centre and became the Governor of Bihar in 2004.

Jaipur: The exercise of transfer and postings has been initiated once again after chief secre-tary Niranjan Arya re-turned from Delhi and principal secretary to CM Kuldeep Ranka re-sumed work posts his 5-day leave.

Both the officers held discussion on transfers of officers with chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday. Sources said that discussion on

the transfers of district collectors and SP was held today.

The collectors in nearly a dozen districts including the state capi-tal are likely to be trans-ferred. Some of the col-lectors would be given the responsibility of bigger districts as a re-ward to their perfor-mance while 4-5 collec-tors would be dropped due to complaints by lo-cal MLAs to CM against their functioning.

Some of the promotee

IAS officers would be given the appointment as collectors for the first time. In Jaipur, a female IAS officer may be made district collector for the first time as sources said that the chief minister was im-pressed with the work of this IAS officer.

At the same time, SPs in more than a dozen dis-tricts may be reshuffled. The homework on the list of secretaries has also been done and the lists are being finalised.

Sawai Madhopur: Crossing the danger line at Ranthambore National Park, Gypsy operators recently gave full guarantees to tour-ists for tiger’s sighting. A video of vehicles en-circling the tigers in Ranthambore has cre-ated a stir in the forest department.

In the viral video, ti-gers are surrounded by visitors from both sides on the middle of the road. One of the baffled tigers tried to move to-wards a Gypsy but the driver didn’t move the vehicle an inch.

Wildlife experts say that this kind of behav-

iour will change the na-ture of the tiger making them aggressive. Earli-er too, some videos came to light wherein Gypsy operators who had guaranteed to show the tiger to the tourists, reached very close to the animal.

In the past, a tiger had charged a Gypsy due to the noise of tour-ists and approaching vehicles.

Raise incentive to Aasha Sahyoginis, CM writes to PMFirst India Bureau

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has writ-ten a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking the Central Government to increase the incentive amount given to Aasha Sahyogi-nis. He said that keeping in view the important role played by ASHAs in accessing health servic-es at the community level, it is absolutely nec-essary to increase their incentive so that their morale remains high and they perform health services with greater ef-

ficiency and zeal. The Chief Minister said in a letter to the Prime Min-ister on Saturday that the state government is sensitive to the afflic-tions of these health workers and stands with them to solve their prob-lems. In order to provide financial support to these health workers, the State Government is also giving additional honorarium at the rate of Rs. 2700 per month from the Integrated Child Development Ser-vices Department, which is given entirely from the state head. ASHA WORKERS: It is absolutely necessary to increase their incentive.

Jaipur: It will be a different scene on Sunday when Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra, Sachin Pilot, Congress min-isters, MLAs and party lead-ers will hold a sit-in protest against centre’s agricultural laws at Jaipur. Moreover, af-ter the sit-in, CM Ashok Ge-hlot has called a meeting of Congress and supported leg-islators follwed by a dinner at CMR. However, the high-light of the day would be the ‘reunion’ of Gehlot and Do-tasra with Sachin Pilot, who, it is believed, will join in the protest and dinner with his supporting legislators.

The State Congress will hold a dharna at the Shaheed Smarak from 12 noon to 4

PM. This protest of Congress will also be given in protest against the state’s agricul-tural bills being stalled at Raj Bhavan. “The state govern-

ment had passed three agri-cultural bills, which the Gov-ernor has not approved. We will pressurise the Governor through this protest and the

sit-in is also in support of the farmers movement,” said PCC Chief Govind Singh Do-tasra. Meanwhile, after the protest, Chief Minister

Ashok Gehlot has called a meeting of MLAs at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Sunday. This meeting of MLAs will also include legis-lators from Congress, Inde-pendents and Congress MLAs who jumped over from BSP.

After the meeting, a din-ner has also been organized from 7 pm. It is said that in the meeting, the future po-litical issues as well as the strategy of campaign against agricultural laws will be discussed. Mean-while, political observers believe that the meeting has also been called to address the displeasures of inde-pendent MLAs since Con-gress’s expansion and politi-cal appointments have not occurred till now.

Jaipur: There was a time when the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), was, in the eyes of the general public, synonymous with stalled works and de-layed response. But it appears those days of the premier develop-ment agency of Jaipur are over. Today, the same authority is acting as a ‘friend’ of the common man and the entire cred-it for this goes to Gaurav

Goyal, who took over as the JDA Commissioner 5 months ago. The entire focus of JDA Commis-sioner Gaurav Goyal remains on the speedy disposal of public-relat-ed matters.

The young bureau-crat holds a review meeting with the Zonal Deputy Commissioners and other officials every Tuesday about the pro-gress of pending cases at the Citizen Service Centre. Each and every pending case is openly

discussed in the meet-ing and the bottlenecks in the disposal of the

case are removed, while special focus is given to the two of the longest

pending cases from each zone. The result of this effective monitoring of Goyal is that where about 800 cases were pending till 2 months back, related to issue of lease, land conversion, restructuring and sub-division, etc. have now reduced to just 30-40.

Not only this, weekly review is also done at the level of JDA Com-missioner for redressal of complaints filed on CM helpline and Sam-park portal. At the time

of public hearing, when people approach the JDA Commissioner with their complaints, Goyal calls the con-cerned officer immedi-ately and directs for speedy disposal of their complaint. This is the reason why people’s trust in the office of JDA Commissioner has increased manifold.

In the direction of providing a roof to the poor person of the state, Goyal has issued ap-proval for Rs 74 crore for

the construction of 1448 flats. On the occasion of completion of 2 years of the government, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation stone for this project of building houses for EWS and LIG. The ap-proval of the Govern-ment of India for this project came only in the year 2017, but the mat-ter remained stuck for the last 3 years, & was finally resolved by a hardworking & able bu-reaucrat - Gaurav Goyal.

WHEN WILL THE CONGRESS ORGANISE REMEMBRANCE MEET FOR ITS VETERANS?

The departure of three key pillars of

the Congress, Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vora and Tarun Gogoi, is not a mi-nor incident. The year 2020 has left the Con-gress deeply scathed with wounds that will never heal. Interesting-ly, these three leaders, who have spent their en-tire lives for the grand-old party, have not been accorded an official re-memberance or tribute meet till date. Yes, re-cently when the Con-gress Working Commit-tee meeting was called, a condolence meeting was held in memory of Patel and Vora. But there can be no direct access of ordinary Congress lead-ers and workers in CWC meeting! Normally when a condolence meeting is held in memory of big leaders, it also includes a large number of opposition leaders, such as a large number of parties t h a t

assembled in the tribute meeting held by the BJP in memory of the late Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. However, it seems that after the su-zerainty of a family in the Congress, the entire tradition has been de-cided to waved off. Even after the death of veter-an Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee, there was no such initia-tive from the party.

TROUBLE IN NITISH KUMAR’S HOUSE

Everything is not go-ing well in Nitish

Kumar’s JDU, and it ap-pears that there is an uneasy silence before the storm hits. RCP Sin-gh, a special loyalist of Nitish who ranks among the top leaders of Kur-mis after Nitish, has been made the party’s national president in re-

cent times. It is said that RCP Singh

has deep reach in BJP and for a long time it was

c o n t i n u -ously heard that RCP can join BJP by leaving

Nitish. It is also said that Nitish has given him the responsibility of party president only to con-vince him. Sources re-veal that in the last Bi-har election, RCP did not have a major say in par-ty’s important decisions. RCP wanted to imple-ment Kejriwal formula in JDU and had pre-pared a list of 40 minis-ters and prominent leg-islators with whom the people of the area were quite angry. He asked Ni-tish to cut the tickets of these 40 people and re-place them with new faces, but the anti-RCP Lallan Singh did not let the tickets of these old leaders be culled, as a result most of these leaders had to face de-feat in the election this time. Apart from this, RCP had promised to give tickets to some new

youth leaders, however, Lallan got leaders of RJD from these seats into JDU and also man-age to get them JDU tick-ets, but most of them lost the election. RCP’s resentment was also clearly seen during the elections, and he contin-ued to sit in Delhi dur-ing the Bihar elections. The Forward Lobby of JDU is still opposing RCP in the party con-tinuously, so till now RCP has not been able to make any major organi-zational reshuffle in the party. He wanted to make a leader of the Rajput caste the state president of Bihar JDU, but now there is

pressure on him to hand over this responsibility to Neeraj Kumar of Bhu-mihar caste, and it seems that RCP likes this play, since by for-warding a Bhumihar leader, he will also be able to control the ar-dent ambitions of his strongest opponent Lal-lan Singh.

NITISH HELPLESS BEFORE BJP

B ihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has

never been seen so help-less before the

BJP, otherwise he used to keep a total control on all BJP minis-ters in his government

till now (except one Su-shil Modi). And even Su-shil Modi’s ministry was being run through de-partmental secretaries appointed by Nitish. This time however, the game has changed. In Arunachal Pradesh, when despite giving sup-port to BJP, 6 out of 7 MLAs of Nitish’s party were broken in seven, Nitish is seen without any effective action. This time the meeting of Nitish’s cabinet was also surprising as Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi openly expressed her feelings for BJP in a full meeting and also ex-pressed unhappiness over the repeated exten-sions given to bureau-crats and said, “even the Chief Secretary is on extension. Why isn’t the government giving chance to capable offi-

cials?” It is also being heard that the BJP wants a home secretary of its choice in the state, and sources even say that the BJP is now eye-ing the Home Ministry for itself. Amidst all this, Nitish’s silence is clear-ly expressing his help-lessness.

HOW LONG WILL THE FARMER AGITATION CONTINUE?

While on one hand, the ministers of

the central government are constantly indicat-ing that they are getting cordial with farmer leaders, the ministers have eaten at the langar of the farmers and the farmer leaders by ac-cepting the ‘tea diplo-macy’ of the govern-ment have hinted that the matter is being tak-en towards a peaceful mission. However, the social media of the farmer movement indicates a different story. If their so-cial and digi-

tal media are to be be-lieved, then the farmers will not accept anything less than the repeal of the new agricultural law. They say that the government had already accepted issues like electricity and stubble. Leaders associated with the farmer movement are also elated that now they are getting support of Indians from abroad, and despite the freezing cold of Delhi, there is no stopping the influx of farmers coming from different states which means that the move-ment will last longer.

...AND FINALLY

Is the BJP planning to remove Nitish Kumar

from active politics? If sources are to be be-lieved, BJP has proposed to Nitish that he can be made the next Vice- President of the country, but sources say that Nit-

ish is not going to settle for anything less than Raisina Bhavan.

More-over, the ACB Judge Pramod Kumar Malik also made a stark re-mark, while dismissing the bail, when Rao’s counsel claimed he was being falsely implicated. While rejecting all the arguments, the judge, said in a comment that the outgoing collector In-dra Rao has violated the ‘zero tolerance policy’ against the corruption of the state government and through his subordi-nate, was involved in the

game of bribery. The judge also said that in view of the possibility of harassing witnesses and tampering of evidence, it would not be appropriate to give Rao the benefit of bail. The judge also ob-served that the court should not send a wrong message to the public therefore, Rao should not be granted bail.

The bail plea of Rao was presented in the Kota ACB court on Satur-day.

RESOLUTIONSRESOLUTIONSWith the onset of the New Year, new beginnings beckon and all of us

desire that the coming year be better than the previous one and make resolutions that we hope will make a difference!

nother year has begun and like always New Year Resolutions are the fla-vour of the season. Most of us make resolutions to lose weight, start exercis-ing regularly, be neater & tidier, be minimalist and

all the other things which we feel will im-prove our lives in the coming year. Do these things really

improve the quality of life? The reality is that if we want to

be happier and better human be-ings, we should make resolutions to be more compassionate, to be kinder, to reach out more to help people and not stand on judgment on others. I believe that these are the resolutions that will make the coming New Year happier not only for us but also for the world at large.

In 2021, women need to resolve to be stronger to stand up for what is wrong and that does not mean for ourselves but for others. When I say that women need to be stronger and bolder, I don’t mean just for our rights but even more so for our duties.

As career women, let us resolve to be an equal co-worker and desire no privileges because of our gen-der. Also, commit to self to always stand up and support other wom-en! Let us be women who are strong and empowered and take the stand for others who need us.

We will strive to be role models not for the commercial success we achieve but for being ‘women who stand by other women’.

Let us resolve to be and to not forget the lessons of the pan-demic; learn to find joy in the little things! In 2021, we will cherish our family and friends rather than material things and enjoy simple things like cooking, reading and playing

cards with family! We will be content and strive to learn a new skill this year!

You’ve got the stamina and energy to take on almost anything. On Friday and Saturday, you need to get back to your routine and take care of unfi nished business. You’ll have the time of your life if you work well.

TAURUSAPR 21 - MAY 20

Start your week by taking a risk -- especially a romantic risk, if you’re single. You’ll feel like baring your soul on Monday, and others will respond well to your emotional bravery. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, have fun at one of your favorite sports: verbal jousting and intellectual repartee. Just make sure you keep it light-hearted, you’re a clever enough conversationalist that others might take your witty quips too seriously. Be careful and considerate. On Sunday, you’re a magnet for fun and fl irting.

LEOJULY 24 - AUGUST 23

LIBRA SEPT 24 - OCTOBER 22

Keep your head down as the week begins. You’ll face of fl urry of distractions and demands on Monday, and you’ll need some help from your friends to see you through. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, others will look to you to take the lead, so don’t be bashful about making plans and pointing the way. (And don’t sweat the details.) On Friday and Saturday, get out and get gregarious. Socializing will leave you feeling energized -- and you just might be able to help others out with your sensitive, diplomatic touch. This Sunday, all eyes are on you. Flirt up a storm.

SCORPIOOCT 23 - NOVEMBER 22

As the week begins, it’s a great time to go after what you want. Monday fi nds you full of confi dence and charisma, and a deep conversation could lead you where you need to go. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, watch out for a power struggle. Your ego could get you dragged into a confl ict that you weren’t counting on -- and don’t want. On Friday and Saturday, try to do a friend a favor and you might end up learning a juicy secret or two in trade. This Sunday, indulge your imagination in the form of some overdue introversion.

SAGITTARIUS NOV 23 - DEC 22

Follow your mood as the week begins. You might not be on the same page as everyone else on Monday, but that mix in energies and perspectives could generate some interesting (and challenging!) new ideas. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, take every chance to take a gamble. Luck is on your side right now, and risk-taking is that fastest route to rewards -- whether that’s material gains, intellectual advances or just having some plain, old fun. On Friday and Saturday, show some caution. This Sunday, feel the love.

CAPRICORNDEC 23 - JAN 20

Don’t avoid the issues at hand as the week begins. You need to nip matters in the bud quickly, and Monday should provide the perfect opportunity for fulfi lling your responsibilities. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, things aren’t what they seem. Use your excellent analytical skills to exercise some caution -- you should be able to see what others are really after right now. On Friday and Saturday, make big plans see them come to fruition, thanks to your solid research and follow-through. It’s a great time to get something started.

AQUARIUS JAN 21 - FEB 19

The beginning of this week could be diffi cult if you’re not at your patient and fl exible best. You’ll have nothing to worry about though, if you can stop thinking and just forge ahead on Monday -- even if the task at hand isn’t that exciting. On mid days, expect a sudden surge of creativity. An intellectual insight could lead to a startling discovery, provided you’ve got the courage to experiment. On Friday and Saturday, switch from big-picture creativity to down-in-the-dirt detail herding. This Sunday, seek out something (or someone) new.

PISCES FEB20 - MARCH 20

If only every week could start this way! Expect your Monday to kick off with some fun and fl irtation, and don’t be bashful -- people can’t get enough of your company right now. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you might feel like you’ve got too much going on, but you just need to take a deep breath and show some patience (and steer clear of other people’s dramas). On Friday and Saturday, be bold. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything all fi gured out, you’re better off jumping in and going for it. On Sunday, throw out the old and welcome in the new.
