Chapter I
Introduction
In this section of scholarly paper you will find
the background, research questions, the objective and the
significances of writing.
1.1 Background of Writing
Anime and Manga are widely spread in many countries in
the world. The titles of Anime and / or Manga such as
Doraemon, Dragon Ball, One Piece, Death Note, and Naruto are
well known in many countries. In Indonesia, It was proven by
the many Anime products that aired on national television
stations and many Manga products are sold in bookstores.
Anime and Manga is one of the Japanese government's
source of income from the entertainment field. To produce an
Anime, usually a production house would lift a story from
the Manga that became a best-seller in Japan or at least the
story of the Manga that are popular among lovers of Manga in
Japan. Popularity of a Manga determining whether a Manga
worthy or not worthy to be made the Anime version or even a
live-action version of her, played by humans.
Two Japanese products, Anime and Manga, as is well
known, it is well known in many countries. Anime popularity
for example, now, can match the popularity animation
products made Western countries like the United States that
actually had already started producing the animation and
comics as a means of entertainment there. In Indonesia, more
than the number of Anime products products from Western
animation could be a tool measure how popular Anime in
Indonesia compared with Western-made-animation.
Anime and Manga is loved by many people from diverse
professions and age not only in Japan itself, but also in
many countries including Indonesia. Love of the people
towards such a work could be done Anime fan by watching all
of his series on television, buy the CD or DVD, or the way
recently emerged is downloaded from the Intenet. This is
especially beneficial for Japan as a manufacturer because
the product sold in the market offered both domestically or
abroad. Anime and Manga itself has become an industry in
Japan.
There are also other forms which can be done by a fan of
Anime and / or Manga, by making the characters in the
stories he loved as an idol. By making these characters into
idols, there is the possibility of a fan to keep up the
appearance and / or character also his idol. Doing Cosplay
is one expressive form of a fan of Anime and / or Manga who
want to look like a character idolized.
Cosplay characters in Anime and Manga are often performed at
festivals Anime or Cosplay competitions in several
countries, including in Indonesia. More recently, two
representatives of Indonesia in the World Cosplay Summit in
Japan got the winner in the 3rd annual event. The two
representatives of Ingram and Griffon wearing costumes which
are the two characters in the series Mobile Police Patlabor.
The series is a series that originated in Japan. There are
also events AFA (Anime Festival Asia) in Jakarta some time
ago which is one of the biggest Anime festival in Asia that
would show a lot of Cosplayers both domestically and abroad.
In the midst of fame Anime and Manga in Indonesia.
Animation and comic production in the country looks less a
place in the hearts of lovers of animation and comics in
Indonesia. Number of comics in the country are sold in
bookstores less than the Manga. As well as the domestic
animation. National television stations are more likely to
show an animation Anime than domestic production.
Actually, in terms of human resources, Indonesia has a
lot of talent in the field of animation and comics. One is
Christiawan Lie who participated contributed in making
animated films that are filled, Transformers 3, and makes
the best-selling comics in the United States under the title
Return To Labyrinth. And, there are many more people who are
gifted in addition Lie Indonesia both in Indonesia and
abroad who have proven their ability in terms of animation
and comics. But of all the animation and comics are made by
the people of Indonesia, it was only a little or almost no
one objects to be Cosplay. Characters like Si Buta from Gua
Hantu, Wiro Sableng, Gundala son Lightning, and Hammer is a
comic characters in the country that compete with the
characters Anime and / or Manga in getting liver Indonesian
Cosplayer.
From the explanation above, the writer would like to appoint
a scientific paper with the title
“Making Animation and Comics Become Popular In Indonesia”
1.2 Research Questions
Based on the background from the title of this

compete or even beat the popularity of Anime and Manga and
hegemony in the country.
Chapter II
Review of Literatures
In this chapter, the writers will discuss the literature
review by the writer to write scientific papers, namely the
culture, popular culture, and the definition Animation and
Comics. Before discussing these matters, the writer will
first discuss the culture.
2.1 Culture
There are many definitions of culture as well as how to
define it. Definition of culture itself according to
Stuart Hall by using the approach of Anthropology is the
'way of life' of a people, community, nation or social
groups. Culture means 'way of life' of a group of
people, communities, nations or social groups. Have the
same culture can also mean to have or share the same
values in a community. Cultural meaning in a more
traditional sense of something that is considered to
have a high and noble. Culture in this interpretation
are:
“…the ‘best that has been thought and said’ in a society. It is the sum of the great ideas, as represented in the classic works of literature, painting, music and philosophy” (Hall).
Culture is the best thing ever conceived and delivered
in the community. Culture is a collection of ideas that
represented the Classic literature, painting, music and
philosophy. Culture in this interpretation could be referred
to as "high culture" (culture sublime).
2.2 Popular Culture
If the culture in a more traditional sense is something
that is considered high and noble, culture with a more
modern interpretation means:
“…widely forms of popular music, publishing, art, design and literature, or the activities of leisure time and entertainment, which make up the everyday lives of the majority of ‘ordinary people’…” (Hall)
Culture in this interpretation has popular music forms,
printing, art, design and literature, or for leisure
activities and entertainment are filled everyday ordinary
people. Culture in this interpretation is referred to as
"popular culture" (popular culture).
More on popular culture, this culture is considered as a low culture, although it is still a debate about who is eligible to vote. According to Storey cited by Edria Sandika, popular culture is simply culture roomates, Instant is favored or well liked by many people. Culture can be defined in a simple popular culture that is widely accepted and well-liked by many people. So popular culture can also be called "mass culture" (mass culture) because it is owned by many people.
But mass culture is never used, because mass culture has
a different meaning when associated with popular music,
printing, art, design and literature, or for leisure
activities and entertainment are filled everyday ordinary
people.
2.3 Animation Definition
Animation, is a film that is the result of the
processing of hand-drawn so that it becomes a moving image.
At the beginning of its discovery, the animated film is made
from sheets of drawing paper which is then "turn" so it
appears the effects of moving images. With the help of
computers and computer graphics, Animation filmmaking
becomes very easy and fast. Lately even more popping
animated 3-dimensional rather than two-dimensional animated
film.
Animation is a lot of mention in many countries but is a
more dominant Cartoon and Anime
Language "Cartoon" comes from the U.S., Cartoon is a funny picture with a performance that represents an event. People who create Cartoons known Cartoonist. Several types of Cartoons known today is editorial Cartoons, gag Cartoon, and strip comic. Cartoon editorial or political Cartoons usually intended to express political views or social satirical manner. Meanwhile, gag Cartoon is meant to be funny without insinuating. Is a comic strip Cartoon in the form of short comics. Cartoons can also be used as an illustration, for example in a book, magazine, or the news.
In spite of cartoon, Cartoon also grown in other media, the movies, and is known as Animation.
Anime is a loan word from the English word "Animation"
commonly pronounced by the Japanese became "anima-shon". The
word anima-shon then simplified by the Japanese people in
everyday pronunciation into Anime. Meanwhile, Manga is
Japanese for comics. Although "Anime" and "Manga" is a
translation of the Japanese word for "Animation" and
"comic", many people outside of Japan who refer all the
Anime and Manga as Animation and comics products from Japan.
Though the Japanese themselves call all the "Animation" and
"comic" either from Japan or from other countries with
"Anime" and "Manga".
2.4 Comic Definition
Comics are an art form that uses no moving images are arranged so as to form the fabric of the story. Usually, comics printed on paper and comes with text. Comics can be published in a variety of forms, ranging from the newspaper strip, published in a magazine, individual book-shaped. on 1996, Will Eisner published Graphic Storytelling, in which he defines comics as "fabric drawings and word balloons are in order, in a comic books. "Previously, in 1986, the book Comics and Sequential Art, Eisner defines the structure of technical and comics as sequential art, "the arrangement of images and words to tell a story or dramatize an idea."
Comics is a loan word from English "Comic" comic
mentioning any country is usually different example is the
Japanese comics called Manga comic called Korean manhwa and
Chinese manhua comic called.
Nonetheless, Japanese Animation and comic in general
does have its own peculiar characteristics compared with
Animation and comics from other countries. This is what
makes people outside of Japan classifies Japanese Animation
and comic contrast to Animation and comic other countries,
and tend to use the term "Anime" and "Manga" to "Animation"
and "comic" made in Japan.
Chapter III
Discussion And Analysis
This chapter contains the research methods, data collection
techniques, and systematic discussion by the writer in writing
scholary papers.
3.1 The Correlation Both Making Animation and
Comics Become Popular In Indonesia
There is a Correlation between making animation and Comic.
By making it popular in Indonesia, because in these days a
lot of people who do not have jobs and if the animation and
comics can be popular in Indonesia will be the creation of
new jobs in the field, industry, arts, and entertainment.
Since the early 90's, television, both public and private in
Indonesia much enlivened by broadcasting the animated film
imports, particularly from Japan. Some television stations
even formed a partnership with local television companies
such as Tokyo famous Japanese Television and famous company
that produces animation like Shogakukan Inc. and Toei.
Examples of Japanese animation that aired was Doraemon,
Kobo-chan, and others.
Towards the late 90's early 2000's, the Japanese animation
that aired his growing genre. Animation among others, BT-X,
Cardcaptor Sakura, Rurou ni Kenshin and Fushigi Yuugi.
In recent years, the company is also emerging distributor of
Japanese animation films with different genre and rating,
which actively distributes it to the Indonesian market.
Impressions and growing distribution in Japanese animation
films in Indonesia has caused reactions pros and cons.
However, no matter how, broadcasting Japanese animated films
and has given the impression of special appreciation from
the audience in Indonesia. With the continuing broadcasting
distribution of Japanese animation films that have an impact
on the number of fans who specially liked the Japanese
animated films and all things associated with it.
Originally animated film is comic, comics will be
animated in Japan if the comic has reached certain
requirements to be able to get it where animation animations
because it has been aired on television around the world
will be better informed than the animated version of the
comic, but this is not an issue in Japan and in the United
States, because of animation and comics there's already a
popular culture so there is nothing to worry about if a
title is more famous than the animated version of the comic.
3.2 The Process of Correlation Both Making
Animation and Comics Become Popular in
Indonesia
Data collection was conducted on the Internet in 2012, on
revenues Japanese Animation and Comics in the field.
Anime and manga are two things that many people in many
countries including Indonesia idea comes from Japan. In
Japan and in several other countries, anime and manga even
very popular. The number of people in Indonesia ranging from
small children to adults who know, love, and consume anime
and manga shows that the popular anime and manga in
Indonesia. People can also be referred to as a fan of anime
and manga. Fans here do not just love anime and manga, but
also as I mentioned above, consuming both. Understanding
consumption by the fans here:
Generally means using something (can be either goods or
services) which is the inverse of the production.
Consumption literally means 'use' something that had
previously been produced. Consumption will not run
without the presence of something that is produced,
while production would not exist without those who are
called consumers as a target of the production.
So understanding consumption here is not limited to the
purchase of a product in this anime and manga but has a
wider meaning of "use" things that have been produced by
the manufacturer. "Using" itself means can have without
buying a product but can also be a way without buying
the borrowing or also downloaded from the Internet for
free. Now, it's a lot of comics and anime that can be
downloaded on the Internet for free.
In the context of popular culture, anime and manga at this
age is a cultural product that is produced to be consumed by
many people. In popular culture, not only created but also
attempt to produce created culture of consumerism. People
who consume anime and manga in this case knowingly or
unknowingly put themselves in a particular culture, the
culture (which is considered to be from) where the Japanese
anime and manga is now a product of popular culture. The
existence of popular culture had made it real identities
blur-consumer anime and manga that come from outside Japan.
Anime and manga consumption could make vanish the original
identity of consumers who come from outside Japan. This is
because they are not only a cultural product that is
consumed by the Japanese only, but both of these products
are also already being consumed by people outside of Japan,
including Indonesia. Because when a cultural product
consumed by many people that the product is the product of
automatic popular culture, the anime and manga are also a
product of popular culture and the people who consume it
arguably has the same culture. People who consume anime and
manga have a 'way of life' is the same ie both anime and
manga consume in everyday life.
The writer notes that anime and manga itself could become
popular in Indonesia is not as intrinsic elements of both
but no extrinsic elements involved and which is the most
influential. The greatness of anime and manga that can be
received in many countries including Indonesia, not in spite
of Japan's increasingly global and its products-from motor
vehicles and electronic goods to anime and manga-to be
accepted and consumed by people outside of Japan. The writer
notes that extrinsic elements that make anime and manga can
be popular in Indonesia.
Manga itself now can not be separated from the life of the
Japanese people everyday. It is also evident from the
presence of manga characters on the streets and in many
other places in Japan. When someone is on the train,
station, or at moments of relaxing, manga often a choice by
many Japanese as a means of entertainment. Japan earn
substantial revenues from the sale of anime and manga in
Japan not only themselves but also from export activities.
Japan revenue each year from the sale of his own manga books
in Japan reached 25 percent of total sales of the book
there. Sales of manga magazines are also high in Japan,
reaching 20 percent of total sales of the magazine. Total
sales of manga in Japan, the Japanese get a ¥ 500 million
more each year. While exports of manga, the Japanese get
around ¥ 12 million per year.
Not only from the sale of manga course, Japan is also
getting huge revenues from the sale of anime both in Japan
and outside of Japan itself. Japanese income of anime in
Japan is ¥ 207 million while exports of anime, Japanese get
around ¥ 20 million.
Incomes:
Sales in Japan Sales outside in
Japan
Total
Manga ¥ 500 million ¥ 12 million ¥ 512
million
Anime ¥ 207 million ¥ 20 million ¥ 227
million
¥ 739
million
(The table is made of conversion data provided by from
www.jetro.org)
From the table above, it appears that the Japanese get a
total of ¥ 739 million per year from the sale of anime and
manga. Japan's economic orientation of the transition was
the one who made the anime and manga as well as serve as
industry renowned Japanese products such as motorcycles,
cars, and electronic goods. The orientation change is the
orientation of the militarization of the economy to the
United States ala consumptive.
Japan's Showa era (1926-1989) can be said is that age has a
major influence on the progress of Japan at this time. After
the Japanese defeat to the Allies in World War II, the
Japanese economic system mimics the style of U.S.
consumption.
Like the U.S., Japan's industrialization is mainly
geared to producing consumer objects, which is propped
up by a financial system that serves the needs of the
consumer.
Anime and manga itself so it is a product that intentionally
produced to be consumed by the Japanese. Japan is an expert
in making drawings and Japan is producing the most
terkomersil image in the world. Therefore, no one if Donald
Richie called Japan as The Image Factory or 'factory image
maker'. With system-consumption economy, Japan as well as
other countries adopt this system creates objects called the
false needs or needs that are not desirable.
In this case, the writers argue that the change in
orientation of the Japanese economy after the Allied defeat
is what makes anime and manga distributed to many countries,
including Indonesia and even the United States to be well-
received and consumed. This is the defeat of Japan that
occurred at the Showa era, the era in which "institutions
and grip-grip industrial and visual language manga created,
explored, exploited, confirmed" (Darmawan). In this era, the
manga (which is then followed by the anime) began industry
then distributed outside Japan. Anime and manga
industrialized and supported by a vigorous marketing
campaign and managed to create false needs for people
outside of Japan, including Indonesia.
It is a process of cultural industrialization. Anime and
manga are intentionally produced to be consumed will benefit
Japan as a producer. Industrialization is of course not only
in the anime and manga, as a process of cultural
industrialization, because Japan is also famous for other
industries such as automotive and electronics industries.
The writer sees extrinsic elements is what makes anime and
manga as well as motorcycles, cars, and gadgets from Japan
can be accepted and consumed in Indonesia.
3.3 Popularization difficulty Animation and Comics
Indonesia in Domestic
In Indonesia, the popularity of anime and manga far exceed
domestic animation and comics. This is of course advantageous
Japan as a producer. Therefore, in scientific writing, the writer
wants to show the discourse. The discourse is to create animation
and comics Indonesian popular in their own country. But it is
indeed difficult. This difficulty is caused by several factors,
which:
To create animation and popular Indonesian comics, both already
having a tough rival which of Japanese animation and comics
(anime and manga) that has been used popular and well-established
in Indonesia. Anime to fill the Indonesian television in the
1980s up to now it is hard to be matched by the new Indonesian
animation production began in earnest for the past ten years.
Meanwhile, in the case of comics, Indonesia actually has started
to produce it in the 30's to the present. Comics such as The
Blind of Gua Hantu, Kho Ping Ho, and Wiro Sableng is a bit of
Indonesian comics titles that could prevail in their own country
and this one was a few decades ago. After the flood the world
manga comics Indonesia, domestic comics were less popular than
manga.
Indonesian comics are actually not lost in terms of the
image compared to the manga. However, that does have been
industred manga in Japan comes to Indonesia is the quality and
quantity are far superior to the Indonesian comics.
For a mangaka (manga artist in Japanese) can publish his
own comic is not easy. Competition between new and mangaka
mangaka who had already been plunged into writing manga is very
tight. In addition to his work can submit directly to publishers
of books to be published, a mangaka can also submit his work to
the editors of the magazine manga. Typically, new mangaka will
send its first manga to manga magazine publisher. This is done
because the new mangaka get a chance to load larger if submitting
his work to magazines manga compared to the book publisher
directly.
In the manga magazine, published some of the few mangaka
manga titles in a single issue. If popular, hence the title of
the manga is published in this magazine can last for years.
Usually there are twelve or more manga titles published in one
issue of the magazine is published. And, every one title
consisted of 30 to 40 pages in the magazine. The magazine itself
usually has a thickness of 200 to 850 pages.
Through manga magazine is a natural filtration of the title
manga itself which will be published in a single book / volume
based on the title populeritas among readers. Intense competition
among the mangaka does impact on the quality of the output.
Meanwhile, more than the number of manga artists in Indonesia has
become a major cause of the shortage of domestic comics than
manga manga let alone the amount of imported each year in
Indonesia, more than the production of comics in the country. Not
only manga, anime also invaded Indonesia.
To produce an anime, usually a production house would
lift a story from the manga that became a best-seller in
Japan or at least the story of the manga that are popular
among lovers of manga in Japan. Popularity of a manga
determining whether a manga worthy or not worthy to be made
the anime version or even a live-action version of her,
played by humans.
Anime and manga that came to Indonesia with all its
readiness to make animation and comics in the country have
less heart than lovers of animation and comics in the
country. This could for example be seen from at least
domestic animation ever aired on national television
stations and regional television stations which are mostly
prefer to serve anime and manga. Greater volumes of manga
than comics in the country in bookstores in this country is
proof that manga is more salable than the comics in the
country. In addition, there is also the phenomenon of
cosplay. Most or even almost all the cosplayers apparently
prefer fatherly doing cosplay the characters than the anime
and manga characters in animation and comics in the country.
Anime and manga are popular in Indonesia has been consumed by
many people of various ages ranging from children to adults.
Consuming activity is then led to the phenomenon of the
characters cosplay anime and manga are actually also follow
trends in Japan which is also a result of consuming anime and
manga. Edria Sandika gave his opinion on cosplay:
Cosplay is short for costume roleplaying. Cosplay costumes
character means activity contained in various media,
especially from the Japanese media (anime, tokusatsu, video
games, artist J-pop or J-rock) as a form of representation of
the fictional character contained in the media. Cosplay fans
do in order to be able to perform as closely and realistically
imitate the characters.
Japanese events such as Japan's Degree at the University of
Indonesia, jepang festivals in several university and schools,
and a cosplay competition both domestically and abroad are places
where cosplayers in Indonesia usually appear.
(Picture taken from Animeotaku.org)
Here, the writers noticed that doing cosplay anime and manga
characters is the reaction of the anime and manga hegemony
worldwide. By consciously or unconsciously, a person who helped
keep the cosplay anime and manga to continue to exist in
Indonesia. In addition, cosplayers also helped further popularize
anime and manga in the community.
The writers are aware that every human being has the
right to do whatever he wants as long as it does not violate
the rights of others. Likewise with cosplayers have the
right to do cosplay the characters in the anime and manga
stories. However, unfortunately in the middle of the fight
Indonesian animators and comic artists to continue to grow
and resist the invasion of Japanese animation and comics
that are in demand in Indonesia, the writers noticed that
the cosplayers who prefer doing cosplay the characters in
the anime or manga story as if the override the works of
animators and comic artists in the country. This is because
on the other cosplayers who cosplay of animated figures and
comics Indonesia are not as many who do cosplay a character
in the anime and manga. This certainly adds weight Indonesia
animator and comic artist who is also a lack of support from
the Indonesian government to continue to exist in the
country.
To beat the domination of anime and manga in the world is
indeed difficult. However, Indonesia should be able to beat the
dominance and hegemony of anime and manga in their own country.
To be able to popularize animation and comics in the country it
is to make it as popular culture. Well, to be make both
Indonesian popular culture is one way to industrialize both like
anime and manga. Of course the animation and comics in the
country should have the same readiness or even more than the
anime and manga that came to Indonesia.
Here, there are two ways that the writer can be used to
popularize comics in the country.
1. Publish Magazine Comics
As I mentioned above, in Japan there are manga magazine
published several comics titles in a single edition.
Indonesia could imitate it. This magazine will be used by
comic artists to publish the comic. In addition to getting
a greater opportunity to be published rather than directly
to the publisher for sending his self-published, magazine
comics could be a place to exist for novice artists and
became a place of natural selection. If the work of a
popular comic then the work may be issued for yearly or
even self-published in a single book / volume.
2. Comic Writing Contest held Routinely
3. With comic writing competitions held regularly, this
is expected to motivate as well as a forum for the
people who have the desire to write comics to write
down his ideas.
This race could be held each year as all the prize
money and also the publication of the winner. Or, it
could be the work of the winner was promised to be
made an animated version of his or her live action.
Here, there are two ways that can be used to popularize domestic
animation, which is:
1. Making Competition held Routinely Animation
Like the comic competition, the race to make the animation
could be held each year with prize money and / or, for
example, publish a regular program in one of the national
television. This of course can be a lucrative and
prestigious competition for contestants.
2. Creating Animations from the Popular Comics in Indonesia
In addition to holding the race to make the animation, to
popularize domestic animation can also be a way to make an
animated version of the popular comic in the country.
Things like this, already commonplace in Japan. There are
advantages of making an animated version of the comic that
is popular people who have read the comic there is a
tendency to want to watch the animated version of the
comic. So, automatically animated version would be popular
too.
The writer notes that the activities do cosplay a character in
the anime and manga is a phenomenon that knowingly or unknowingly
helped keep the anime and manga to remain popular in Indonesia. I
then saw that the activities do cosplay can also be used to help
animators and comic artists in the country to be developed.
Cosplayer here could provide support for animators and comic
artists in the country by way of doing cosplay the characters in
the animation and comics in the country. Expected in this way,
cosplayers could further popularize animation and comics in the
country to the people of Indonesia. This example can be
intentionally coordinated by the Indonesian government, the
publisher of the comic or animation production, or also from the
cosplayers themselves.
Application of the things mentioned above is expected to boost
the number of animators and comic artists in Indonesia. Thus, it
is expected that it will create a more competitive state than the
current situation which will have the effect of domestic
animation and comics have quality as well as quantity is over
now. With the quality and quantity of higher expected domestic
animation and comics can be popular in their own country and are
able to compete popularize anime and manga. The writer expects
later animation and comics industry in the country could be like
in Japan so it could be a source of new jobs for the people of
Indonesia and can reduce the amount of unemployment.
Chapter IV
Closure
This section is made to give you the conclusion
about this paper and the answer of the question at the first
paper.
4.1 Conclusion
Anime and manga are two things that are known are from
Japan. Both of them is a product of popular culture. Culture
can be defined in a simple popular culture that is widely
accepted and well-liked by many people. So popular culture
can also be called "mass culture" (mass culture). In the
context of popular culture, anime and manga at this age is a
cultural product that is produced to be consumed by many
people. Anime and manga are deliberately produced in large
quantities so that good people are in Japan and outside
Japan alone could consume them. Transition-oriented economic
model of the militarization of the economy to consumption
after the defeat of the Allies was that the writers see as
the cause of the anime and manga in industry like now.
Causes of anime and manga became popular in Indonesia could
not be separated from Japan increasingly global.
Moreover, anime and manga are not different from other
Japanese products are manufactured and then exported like
cars, motorcycles, and gadgets. This is because all of them
are equally . Here Japan succeeded in creating false needs
or needs that are not cool with the purpose of providing
benefits to the Japanese as a producer.
On the other side, it turns out, fame anime and manga
domestic, affect the animation and comics Indonesia.
Indonesia animation and comics in the country less favored
by the Indonesian people themselves. Anime and manga that is
in Japan have the quality and quantity of the more than
animation and comics in the country. Anime to fill the
Indonesian television in the 1980s up to now it is hard to
be matched by the new Indonesian animation production began
in earnest for the past ten years. Meanwhile, in the case of
comics, Indonesia actually has started to produce it in the
30's to the present. Comics such as Si Buta dari Gua Hantu,
Kho Ping Ho, and Wiro Sableng is a bit of Indonesian comics
titles that could prevail in their own country and this one
was a few decades ago. There is also the phenomenon of
cosplay. The writer notes that doing cosplay for anime and
manga characters are reactions from anime and manga hegemony
worldwide. By consciously or unconsciously, a person who
helped preserve cosplay anime and manga to continue to exist
in Indonesia. In addition, cosplayers also helped further
popularize anime and manga in the community.
Then, in response to this problem, the writer would like
to bring up a discourse that is popularized animation and
comics in the country by making them as popular culture. To
be make both Indonesian popular culture there is one way to
industrialize both like anime and manga. Of course the
animation and comics in the country should have the same
readiness or even more than the anime and manga that came to
Indonesia. There are several ways you can do to be able to
do that: publish comics magazine, held a contest to write
comics and animation on a regular basis, create animations
of comics that are popular in Indonesia, and for
popularizing the cosplayer utilize animation and comics in
the country.
4.2 Suggestion
Responding to lack of popularity of animation and comics
in the country, the writer has some hope. The first, the
writers expect the Indonesian government to assist in
advancing the domestic animation and comics. Second, the
writers expect the Indonesian people to love animation and
comics in the country.
