Only court decrees concerning or affecting civil status of a person shall be recorded in

the civil register. These are court decrees that modify or alter the civil status of a person

after birth but before death. The court decrees shall be reported to the civil registrar for

registration in the city or municipality where the court issuing the decree is situated. If

the decree was issued by a foreign court, the place of registration is the city civil registry

office of Manila in case it was not previously registered with the Philippine consulate in

the foreign country. In case where the vital event was registered in the same city or

municipality where the court issuing the decree is situated, the concerned civil registrar,

in addition to this duty to register the court decree, shall have the duty to amend the

COLB in the case of adoption and to annotate the document in some other cases.

Any declaration of vital event filed or presented for registration beyond the reglementary
