The Breath Of Life! th The Independence Day Celebration on 15 August, was a befitting tribute to our martyrs, who selflessly sacrificed their lives to restore freedom for India. My favourite hobby is Art and Craft. I

a house with rooms, birthdays cards,

I also love to paint and draw. I paint with

crayons, sketch pens and water colours.

Sometimes my grandfather helps me in

craft. Come to my home and I will show

you my collection. I also like swimming

My home is very beautiful. I feel safe and

secure at home. My home is a shelter

which saves me from heat, cold and rain.

There are two rooms, one kitchen, two

bathrooms, and one drawing room in my

home. My room is on the first floor and it is

very neat and clean. I live with my mom,

dad and grandmother in my home. My

If I were a teacher, I would like my students to have

their sandpit time soon as they come to school to

start their day. I would also like to take my class on

picnic every week. Also I will change school time

to 10'o clock. I would like that children should get

tiffin from home and share with friends. I would

hug and love my students just as my teachers do. If

The Place I Would Like To Live

We seek to find amazing places not just

how amazing they look but also because

we imagine ourselves living in those

places. There are many beautiful places in

the world. But the place I would like to live

in, is the house which is on the river side

and it has a small garden in the back yard

with different colourful flowers. I like to

stay on the river bank as we get cool breeze

and fresh air. -Vriti Shah II-B

I like the rainy season because I like to

have a bath in the rain and listen to the

frogs croaking... I like to jump in puddles.

The soil becomes moist due to the growth

of grass and new plants. During heavy

rains, we get holidays in school and have

fun at home. Many festivals comes during

the rainy season, so I like monsoon the

most. -Vivan Bhavsar II-C

My Favourite Season

The Spring season is the most pleasant

season in India. The morning is pleasant.

The noon is soothing. The evening is cool

and calm. The night is comfortable.

Birds sing. Every object of nature looks

very beautiful. Flowers bloom, new leaves

bloom.

Everybody feels a sense of joy and

happiness. Spring is neither hot nor cold. It

is a healthy season. So, spring is my

favorite season. -Mahek Patel II-C

If I Were A Tree

Yesterday my teacher asked me what would you do

if you were a tree? Well, I like green trees very

If I were a tree, I would have provided shade and

was very costly. That’s why I couldn’t buy it. I remember once you saw me asking for this in a mall. I am so glad that you bought this game for me. It will help me to enhance my vocabulary as I will learn new English words. In this game there are cards, a magnifying glass for looking at the words written on the cards. My friends also love to play with this game. I will share the game with them. Once again I thank you, for gifting me a unique thing. This is indeed a wonderful game! From,Siya

It is a temple of education. It is the best

India is my motherland. It is beautiful place.

We all live in peace and harmony.

India has a rich

heritage. It has the beautiful Taj Mahal,

Jantar Mantar, Lotus Temple and the

gorgeous Golden Temple in Amritsar. In

India you can follow any religion and can

even change your religion. We can speak the

language of our choice. There are different

types of mouth watering food. We have idli

dosa, paratha, dhokla, pasta, lassi, butter

milk and many more. There are various

festivals like Navratri, Diwali, Eid,

Christmas etc. which are celebrated by the

people of all castes and religions together.

India is also known for its diverse

physiography. The culture of India refers

collectively to the thousands of distinct and

unique cultures of all religions and

communities present in India. Indian

languages, religion, dance, music,

architecture, food, and customs differ from

place to place. But we proudly call ourselves

Value Of Sports

My favourite national monument is theTaj Mahal. It is one of the seven wonders of the world. It is situated on the banks of the river Yamuna in Agra. It was built by Shah Jahan, in memory of his dead wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It took nearly twenty two years to build it. It is said that nearly twenty thousands workers constructed this monument.Taj Mahal is made of white marble and is surrounded by gardens and fountains. It is the tomb of both Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. It is the symbol of love. Tourists from all around the world come to see the beauty of Taj Mahal. But one of the most precious buildings is losing it’s beauty because of the industries in the surrounding areas that are causing air pollution. It is high time that the Government and people together make efforts to preserve this beautiful heavenly monument.

advice, along with good

education. They play a very important role in

our life from the time we take admission in

make us learn so many things in a playful

way. They also guide us very well during any

us to always follow the right path in the life.

They tell us that we should never become

Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14

because on this day in 1949, the Constituent

Assembly of India had adopted Hindi

written in Devanagari script as the official

language of India which was also the 50th

birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha. Hindi

is spoken by 25 million people as the

original language and it is the fourth

language of the world. Hindi Diwas is a

great step to emphasize the importance of

our national language as well as our culture.

The Boards were decorated with Hindi

alphabets and Sant Kabir's dohas . The

students were briefed about the importance

of Hindi Diwas.

India is a colourful

country. How would you

feel if you get the same

food everyday? Thank

God in India we don't have to worry about

that. Eventhough I am a Gujarati, I have

South Indian as well as Punjabi cuisine too.

This diversity is not only seen in our food but

also in our festivals, clothes, religion,

languages, culture and tradition, and we all

proudly call ourselves Indians. We hear the

word diversity which means differences.

Unity means togetherness. Isn’t it strange

that there are two opposite words in one

phrase but India has proved that it is

possible. “Unity in Diversity,” the slogan is

very appropriate for a country like India. It

means oneness in variety. We can see people

of different religions, creeds, castes,

languages, cultures, lifestyle, dressing

sense, faith in God, rituals of worship, etc

live together in harmony under one roof,

means on one land of India. India is a vast

and the most populated country of the world

where people of different religions

Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism,

Jainism, Christianity and Parsees live

together. People here celebrate their

festivals (Holi, Diwali, Id, Christmas, Good

Friday, Mahavir Jayanti, Buddha Jayanti,

etc) very peacefully without harming other

religious people. The EME temple of

Baroda is one such example. The top dome

represents Indian culture,the pot represents

Hinduism, the entrance represent Jainism,

the tower represents Christianity, and the fire

in the temple represents Zoroatrianism.

Diversity is one true thing we all have in

common. We Indians celebrate it everyday.

Eco- Ganesha

Celebration of the festival of Lord Ganesh with a difference! The Ganesh Festival kick starts a series of festivals in all the different parts of our country. Ganesha being the God of problem solving, “Vignaharta”, solves quite a lot of problems. The problem of a big sized Ganesha statue is solved by Eco-Ganesha made out of dough or clay. The plastic decoration is replaced by flower garlands which is equally beautiful and holds a festival look. The loud-speakers and DJ had no place in the vicinity and most of the devotees sang the prayer songs in unison without any loud music.

Once upon a time, Lord

Krishna was playing

cricket with his friends. It

was Krishna's turn to

throw the ball.He threw

the ball so hard that it fell

into the river Yamuna. All

his friends said, “Krishna,

you have thrown the ball,

so now you go and fetch that ball.” Krishna says

“Okay” and then he jumps into the river Yamuna.

He sees one snake sleeping in the river and one

female snake sitting beside him says, “My Child,

Please go away otherwise this snake will kill

you. Please go.” Krishna says, “No first I will

take the ball and then go.” And suddenly the

snake woke up and said, “What is going on?” His

wife said, “This child has come to take his

ball.”Kalinag becomes very angry and says, “I

will kill you!” Then they both start fighting. And

Krishna takes a boulder and kills the snake . The

whole Yamuna river becomes red because of the

blood. Then Krishna's friends become worried

about him and one of them says, “What has

happened to Krishna? Why has he not come till

now?” And then Krishna comes out and tells

everything to his friends and starts playing with

his friends again.

Once a king was riding through his kingdom. In a

small village, he saw an old woman working in a

field. She looked weak. But she was doing it. He

rode up to her and asked, “What are you doing

Grandma?” “I am planting mango saplings, my

lord”, she replied. “Don't you know that a mango

tree takes a long time to grow? You may not live

to eat the fruits. Then why are you doing this?”

asked the King. “I know that my Lord. But I do

not plant these saplings for myself. I plant them

for others. I'm sure many will enjoy the fruit.

Tired travellers will rest under its great

branches.” The King was pleased by her kind

thought. “You are kind and thoughtful, Grandma.

I wish there were more people like you,” said the

King. He put his hands inside his robes and took

out a small golden mango. “This is your first fruit,

Grandma,” said the King, giving it to her. Just

like the old woman, there are many kind people

all over the world. They always reach out to the

people in need. They are warm, good and tender.

The love and care we have for everyone is called

brother-hood.

Trees are very useful,And very truthful,

They only want some things,But give us many things. They give us food to eat,

So we should give them a very good treat,They fulfill our every need,

And they grow from a very small seed. They hold the soil,

And we should not get them spoilt,Some trees are big and some are small,And some are short and some too tall.

I grow trees,You grow trees ,We grow and grow more of trees!

Yesterday, on Sunday, I went to a zoo with

my lovely parents. The zoo was located in the

middle of my city, Vadodara. It is known as

Sayaji Baug or Kamati Baug.

In the zoo of Sayaji Baug, there were many

colourful birds, reptiles and animals. There

were many colourful Indian and non-Indian

parrots. I had seen many peacocks and

peahens along with a white peacock who was

beautifully dancing on the roof of its cage.

After going some steps ahead, a big black old

bear had been seen. There were two couples

of lion and lioness with their cubs in two

different big cages. I became awestruck by

the tiger and the leopard. The tiger was

roaming in a proud manner and roaming out

of the cage and behind the fence. The visitors

became very happy to see a tiger in the large

open area.

I saw five crocodiles, lying on the ground

near the water, having very sharp teeth. We

become very happy to see a troop of

monkeys who were jumping on a tree.

After spending two-and-a-half hours, we got

very tired so we sat in the garden and ate ice-

cream and returned back to home with lovely

memories.

God has made mom in place of Him,

Mom is God, Mom is God,

A mom sacrifices her life for us and our family.

A mom can bear what anyone cannot,

If mom is then also she thinks about us that

My child will be so tired so I have to make food.

Our mom thinks only one thought that my child

has to do

Lots of work so how can I help my child?

Every day, mom wakes up at dawn and makes

hot and

favourite food for us.

So if we are tired, we don't get cold food.

If we don't eat, our mother comes in tension that

What happened to my child? What happened to

my child?

It is only because of my mom that I have come in

this world.

No one can take the place of my mom.

In whole world, no one can take the place of my

mom.

Thank you mom, Thank you mom!

This year, I enjoyed my tenth rainy season. It was really an exciting experience to get wet in the rain and then enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate or hot tasty Bhajiyas, to feel warm. On weekends, whenever it rained, I enjoyed my day with my dad and my dog "Bruno" playing in the rain in our garden. That was really a very relaxing time. I also like to sit near the window and enjoy the cool breeze blowing. At times, it was fun to jump in the muddy rain water or slipping on the slippery slopes. We use umbrellas and raincoats during this season but nothing is more relaxing and enjoyable than throwing these umbrellas and enjoying the soothing greenery around us. Every year I wait for this season. I love the monsoon season a lot.

On Sunday, we went to see, “THE GREAT GOLDEN CIRCUS” in our city. My brother and I were very excited to see the circus. At the entrance the posters and lightings were amazing. There was a huge rush to see the circus gate. The music was constantly playing when we entered the circus. After we occupied our seats in the fourth row. It was a thrilling experience. All of a sudden, the lights went off and the focusing shifted on the beat of orchestra, the curtain raising and suddenly the clowns entered the ring. Everyone continued laughing as the clowns performed funny acts.

Books are our best friends. They are ourguides. We can learn everything from them. The books help us find answers to our questions. Books are written by experienced people who are wise andwho have matured minds. They are therefore, our best guides and philosophers when we have some confusion. Books give us inspiration to do great things. They fill our minds with noble thoughts. They improve ourminds and awaken our souls. They provide food for the mind. They shape our charac te r and the i r in f luence penetrates deep down the mind. If youwant to select a good friend and books can provide us a company in our good or bad timeand teach us a lesson.

Love is a strong connection,Somebody thst gives you attention.

Love is trust,That should be a must.

There is love that connects.

My birthday gift is not for me. It's for the poor, orphan children living on the pavements. My eyes were filled with tears when I see them hungry, thirsty, roaming around and begging. Oh! How sad and unhappy they would be feeling, seeing everyone else eating good food, playing with good toys, etc. They don't even get good clothes. So, on my birthday, I have decided to give them some food and clothes. It would be so good to see them happy. I can't wait for my birthday to come because their happiness will be my biggest gift on my birthday. Every person should help the poor people. Instead of having a big party, it will be my most special birthday ever. So, help poor, save poor. Never turn away on seeing them. They are no less. They are also humans. Put yourself in their shoes. Help them.

Oh no! My brother is being destroyed! But you need not worry. Humans only refer to it as removing weeds.I am a Peepal tree. I really feel sad when I see my cousins who grow in balconies being uprooted. When I was young, I too faced hardships. No one noticed when I was born but when I was a week old, the lady of a house saw me. I was born in the cracks of a wall and the lady removed me and threw me outside the compound. Thus, began my journey. The sweeper picked me up and threw me near a garbage can. Here, I got a chance and take roots. Being a peepal tree has its own advantages. People are a bit superstitious. They think a ghost resides in a peepal tree, hence they don’t disturb it. I often feel like telling everyone that it is not true. In fact, we have the religious belief, due to a scientific reason. One fine day I was pleasantly surprised to see a young man coming towards me with a brahmin by his side. Both the men started digging around me and then planted me in the temple premises. I was watered daily and people prayed to me as if I were God. Gradually, I grew into a big tree. All the birds and small animals took shelter in me. Life has been largely good to me. I wish there were many more fortunate trees like me.

The Press is called the fourth estate of any democratic country and this means that it is the fourth power of a country. Democracy demands much more than mere propaganda from the press. In a democracy, the press not only disseminates news and information but also analyzes its possible solution. It does not remain a mouth piece of the prevailing government but a staunch supporter of people's cause. As newspapers keep people informed about the government and incidents taking place all over the world. It informs the government of the peoples problems, desires and grievances. Thus the Press plays a dual role in the society.

National Anthem is a kind of a hard song to sing!!God gave me strength to put it together!! -Darryl Reed

Every country has its own national anthem and for India “Jana Gana Mana” speaks the true essence of freedom.“Jana Gana Mana” declares India as the richest cultural country and tells how freedom fighters fought for future generations. The rivers Ganga and Yamuna show the greatness and aptness and that is why the national anthem of India is so honoured and will always remain the same. The national anthem of India was written by Rabindranath Tagore in Sanskrit language. It was translated in hindi and urdu by Abid Ali. The full version of the song takes 52 seconds to sing and uphold the honour of the nation of India. Our India’s national anthem starts from “Jana Gana Mana” and ends with “Jaya he, Jaya he , Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya he”.Our national anthem gives us an important message of “Unity in diversity” and how all religions must be equal and share an equal/strong bond of love and friendship. It also tells us that people residing in India should be considered equal and it tells the cultural differences that one must avoid. There are some guidelines for singing the national anthem too. Some of them are: We should stand in attention and hold our head high .etc..... Jai Hind!!

A Day With A Celebrity

I remember the last day of my vacation. I

made many plans with my parents for a

vacation . But suddenly the doorbell rang

and I was shocked to see my uncle. I

became sad. As all my plans got ruined.

My dad was enjoying his talk with uncle

and I was sitting in a corner thinking

about what to do. Thank God, in the

evening my society friends came to call

me to play outside. Suddenly a dog came

running behind me as fast as a Cheetah.

All my friends ran away as they were

afraid. But unfortunately I tripped down

and the dog bit me. I was crying in pain.

No one came for help. At that time my

uncle was passing by and he saw me

crying aloud. He came running and took

me home.We rushed to the hospital.

Then the doctor gave me an injection

and said that it would be alright. I was

relaxed. I thanked my uncle for helping

me.

Then I realized that my uncle was not

an irritating person or a spoilsport.

Instead he saved me. I learned that we

should always respect our elders. We

should welcome our guests every time

because some day they might be our life

savers.

In India, the rainy season starts in early July and continues up to September. It comes as a great relief from the excessive heat of summer. Birds, animals, plants and we human beings all welcome the rainy season, because it gives us the much needed relief. The sky presents a very beautiful scene. The clouds of different shades move in the sky and look very nice. The trees get covered with new leaves. New grass grows in the dry fields and they look like a valley of green velvet. When it drizzles for several days ,the roads become muddy. Rivers, ponds, and ditches are all filled up with water. Rain helps for the cultivation of various crops. The farmers are rewarded for their hard-work only when they sell the crop and receive money. Failure of rain causes famine and many people get affected due to it. Rain is important for the overall economic growth of the country. Rain is a great boon for the peasants too. In India we all depend on the rains. So let’s enjoy the joy of getting wet in the rain!!!

I am remembering the day when I met my favourite celebrity Varun Dhawan ! What a wonderful day it was ! I remember, Ihad gone to IMAGICA (Mumbai) and fortunately I saw a man wearing a mask and a cap. I felt something strange about him,as he was going away from all and was ignoring everyone. We also ignored him and we went to AquaImagica .There again we met him again and still he was ignoring all of them. I wondered who he was and decided to find out. So, I went behind him and suddenly because of the water he slipped off. And so his mask came off and I could recognize him and I was shocked, that he was my favourite celeb Varun Dhawan. No! I said to my mind. Then to make my mind that I have met Varun Dhawan, I splashed some water on my face. As his mask had come out, people were running to meet him. But he was not in a mood to meet any fan, I saved him from his fans and he got impressed with me and spent the next few hours with me. It was the best day of my life!!

Money is very important in our life. For a comfortable life we need money. Money can buy a big house but we need family members to make it a sweet home. We can buy different toys but we need friends to play with it. Love of a mother, care of a father, fights with a brother and admiration from grandparents are emotions which don’t require money. The sun shine, the birds , the sound of flowing water is nature’s gift which doesn’t require money. Happiness shared with friends and relatives cannot be bought with money . Therefore, money is not important , but we need our friends, relatives, and family members to give us happiness.

The robots running like crazy,

Cleaning, washing and cooking,

Will be all done as quick as lightning.

By the press of a button,

We would touch the sky and come back,

It will be as pretty as a picture.

My childhood days creep into my mind, when I was a 7year old girl. It was the first day for Std II. The school had reopened. Actually I was a new student at St. Kabir School. So I was little nervous. Thoughts kept me confused. I was worried about one thing ‘Will I be able to make new friends?’ Then I reached my class. I was surprised to find some old friends. I was relaxed . Our Class Teacher was Sheetal Ma’am, who taught us Maths. Thereafter I could also make some new friends. We enjoyed a lot. After reaching home, I shared my experience with my mom. My mother was happy to see her loving child happy. This is the best day of my life & I will remember it for a lifetime!!!

MONDAY: Little children’s laughter echoing around, buses honking their way through the

crowd and chaos all around. This is what Mondays are all about. Goodbye to the

weekend, rising early morning, complaints that have no end. This is what Mondays are all

about. Homework submission and teacher’s scolding, getting back into the boring routine

and searching for a silver lining, hoping to survive out of fire. This is what Mondays are

all about. Tuesday: Oh Tuesday ! My dear Tuesday, I

welcome you with a round applause. Hats off to you for a such an amazing day. This day brings

happiness. On my way to school I watch the flowers waking up and glowing in the sunlight. Tuesdays fill us with joy and enthusiasm after

school hours by revising new concepts. Watching the flowers I go to bed at night,

seeing that I make myself ready for a wonderful Wednesday.

Wednesday: Wednesday’s the middle of the week, it is the most boring day. It goes by faster than a lightning streak. As you walk to school

you notice, What a boring day it really is! Nothing to celebrate or boast about,

Wednesday has lost its fizz. All of us wait patiently, for this dreadful day to pass.

Thursday is just a day away. There is no reason to fuss.

Thursday: Thursday arrives but rarely. But it really makes it presence felt, may be it’s because the weekend is near. And misery is caused and dealt as you fall asleep in your bed ,looking up

at the skies ,you just notice that time has flown by, without leaving a sigh.

We all have heard the term Make In India but many of us are not aware of what it is. In simple words, it is an initiative launched by the Government of India. It was launched by our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 25th September 2014 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. It is a big step taken by the Government of India to reduce the level of unemployment faced by the youth of the country and also to make India a world class manufacturing powerhouse which will definitely help in reducing the problems of the Indian Economy. It provides employment to the youth of the country and this will surely help in solving India's biggest social issues. Once our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a talk with the investors and he said that “No Matter in whichever country you sell your products, but you should manufacture in India.” He also said that “The youth of India has enough talent, skills, discipline, and determination to reach their goal.” He also met forty CEO’s of several fortune 500 companies. Make in India is making a great headway. The government of India has taken huge efforts in order to reduce any kind of burden on the investors. Almost 25 key sectors such as aviation, IT, a u t o m o b i l e s t e x t i l e s , p o r t s , pharmaceuticals, hospitality, tourism, railways etc. give an opportunity to the investors to become world leaders. The success of Make in India lies in the ease of doing business. The government of India should provide good facilities because the better the facilities, the better the ease of doing business and higher the ratio of success in Make in India. Almost 70% of the youth is supporting Make in India. Thus the success of this venture, will surely boost Indian Economy. It is a very good initiative undertaken by the government of India.

'Make in India' program was started by our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on 24th January 2014.this program is a dream of Narendra Modi. This program will influence our manufacturing factories. This will help foreign investors to invest products in India. There are 25 various sectors which are shortlisted, which need urgent treatment; railway stations, hospitality, entertainment, tourism and electronic systems. One of the main movements of this program is 'Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan'. The main motto behind this is to make people understand that they are polluting the environment. Many people, joining communities, have lend a hand in this program. Also, one of the movements is 'Smart City'. The governments are trying their level best to make this program a success by spreading awareness. We also come to know the mission of 'Smart City' by the pioneering of the 'Metro Rail' project in Ahmedabad, which is a metropolitan city. Also, the roads in each of the shortlisted cities in the 'Smart City' mission are being developed. According to me, this program, which is on a mission to make India great and successful like all other countries, will succeed. We are very thankful to the government. I, too, will lend a hand in this mission. -Karan Mungra VIII-B

Brain Drain is a disadvantage for a

developing country.

As taught from childhood one should respect one's own nation and work in it with sincerity to come out with the flying colours Nowadays, people move from their country to another country for better prospects and this is known as Brain Drain. It is a major drawback for a developing country. In the 21st century, 80% of the countries have reached their modernization, while India is in those remaining 20%, due to brain drain. Indian Workers are forced to search for jobs in other countries due to which it hampers Indian Economy. Many skilled workers go out of the country and due to this the sales and the production is reduced and automatically the profit margin gets affected. India and many other countries are suffering due to Brain Drain. The major causes of Brain Drain are reserved quotas, corruption and there are many other loop holes. The Government of developing countries should take the initiative and ensure a better future for the students. If the government would do this for the people, then the people will be very happy. Even employees should get proper salary according to their work input. Youth is the power of the developing country. So, brain drain should be decreased by spreading the awareness about one's own nation. Brain Drain is a disadvantage for the developing countries. So, please help to protect the integrity of our Mother Nation.

Green Is The Need Of The Earth

For a very the long time we humans have lived on the Earth as if we own it. To make way for social developments, we have destroyed the natural vegetation and carried out deforestation and cleaned up forests and grasslands at an alarming rate, and the reasons are to extract resources and use the land. We also have striped the habitats and lives of the animals. By deforestation, we are hindering in the earths ability to clean itself by harmful pollutants. By this, we are more ideal to ourselves as well as to other living things. We need to be more responsible and proactive towards the Earths ecological balance. Over-consumption should be avoided. Also, others too should be told to do the same.by this, we would reduce the load from Mother Earth which we are giving it through our over usage of its resources. We should try to start more and more organic farms and gardens to introduce more life to Earth. Lend a hand to the wildlife and forest conversation. Respect all living organisms and lay the foundation of a clean environment and a conscious generation. Only you can make a way for making the Earth sustainable….

Where Has The Real India Gone?

Music

DecemberWhat an irony, during India's ancient period, people from other countries were attracted towards India to see its diverse culture and myriad traditions. Now, people from India run off to other countries to run away from the tradition. Where has the real India gone? The culture, the colours of tradition, the blanket woven from different coloured threads, the people who created and admired the blanket, where are they? The human mind is such that it can be easily be influenced, if not controlled properly. People say that they are exhausted from the beautiful and rejuvenating rituals. Why? They are there to give us an essence of togetherness, to lead us to a calm and blissful state of the mind and we say that they bore us! No, they don't bore us, but the western technology has such an influence on us that our mind, which is a natural pearl, is in the powerful clutches of the western oyster.

My Own Season…

It would be a pleasure if I get a chance to make my own season, sometimes I think that if I get a chance to create my own season, I would create a season of friendship as one feels rejuvenated when he/she meets his/her friends.Actually, I feel that life without friends is like a flower without petals. Our good friend always shows us the right path in life and stays with us in all our ups and downs. The most important thing is that we should know how to choose our friends. In the season of friendship, it should be that every person befriends every other person and the friendship lasts for years to come. Friends who are selfish, leave us during our difficulties. Friends play a key role throughout our life.I wish that this desire of mine of creating a season of friendship come true, so we can overcome our difficulties and always remain joyous and gets fulfillment. -Heer Joshi VIII-D

Conservation of the environment is a mat ter of urgent concern all over the world. In India too, supremacy is given to

conservation of environment. It is The need of the hour. There are many dangers that threaten the environment. In my opinion; I don't want to protect the environment, I just want to create a world where there is no need to protect the environment. Everyone should take an initiative to conserve the environment. The best way to predict the future is to design it so we all need to put a lot of effort to achieve this goal if we want a healthy and pure environment.Conservation literally means the wise judicial use of the environment. But nowadays, every man yearns for a better life. So the steps taken by him are destroying our surrounding. He fails to understand the consequences of that and it just goes on.Everyone is living on this planet and remember we have only one Earth, so we must save it.

“The pen is mightier than the sword” implies that the pen is extremely powerful. Even though it is small in size, it has the power to accomplish things that a mighty sharp edge sword can't accomplish.By way of this proverb, Bulwer-Lytton wanted to state that the power of writing is much greater than power of war and hatred. A war always ends in suffering and loss whereas writing is a gift to mankind. The stories learned during the childhood have taught us a lot. Those teachings are a priceless possession for us.

On a long and dark December,From the rooftops I remember,There was snow, white snow

And nowhere to go.I watched the frozen lake,

Covered with tiny snowflakes,They were fresh and whiteWaiting to shine at night.

I watched the birds on the hill,All the time looking silent-stillThey looked scared and awedAt the darkness of the lord.

I watched the priest from the windowsOf the church with broken rows

They were reading aloud their Bibles,While silently contemplating their rivals.

It was so dark and blackThere was no light in the hill peak.

I plead God to stop his wrathAnd give back the earth its warmth.

“All of us do not have equal talent. But ,all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talents."

Stronger

This quote is a well-known one, by H.

Jackson Brown. The literal meaning of

this quote is that the heart is a house of the

divine eyes; it sees the abstract world

whereas the eyes only see the materialistic

world. For example, you can see the

appearance of a person but you can only

come to know the real beauty of the

person by pondering. Friendship, love,

trust are some of the purest feelings that

can never be expressed nor seen; they are

only felt.

The heart is the most sensitive organ of

our body. It always shows us the right way

ahead. Personally I don't believe in spirits

or supernatural powers but yes, I do

believe in the soul. There is a soul that is

within us which acts as a true judge,

whom we often refer to as our true self.

However the heart cannot be controlled

unless we concentrate. When the eyes are

open they see different things, explore the

surroundings but, when they are closed,

they explore the interiors; what we are and

who we are actually. The feeling of

ecstasy, reverence and solitude are all

within us. What we need to do is just to

introspect into ourselves.

The Heart is the center of concentration

and our true self. We pledge with our hand

upon our heart and some people even get

motivation by listening to their heart beat.

Actually according to me the heart is an

abstract concept. We can think of it as the

soul, mind, concentration, courage,

keenness, spirit, compassion, humanity or

empathy. It's a vast and vivid concept,

based on the people's ability of thinking.

I would like to conclude that always listen

to yourself… your heart. It's your true

self, your mentor, your guide. If you go on

the wrong path as always, remember that

whether there will be anyone to guide you

or not, your heart will always be there to

show you the right path. Whenever there

is a voice within you telling you that this is

a wrong thing to do, don't do it at all.

Always remember, “YOUR HEART

KNOWS CERTAIN THINGS THAT

YOUR MIND CAN’T EXPLAIN”

Dreams are born from desire. They’re also sustained by desire too. But desire can be so elusive. One day I woke up with so much excitement caused in my dream I couldn’t hold it , and another morning I could barely remember what my dream was all about.Desire is suspicious, especially when we haven’t claimed our dream yet. Sometimes, the more we desire a thing, the more elusive that thing seems. But desire is the sprout that grows from the seed, god plants in our heart. When we claim desire, we begin to nurture it and it begins to grow.Along the way, we quickly learn that dreams demand a lot of hard work. In the middle of all the sweat, we can forget the desire that brought us to the dream in the first place. There have been days when I haven’t really wanted my dream anymore. As I pondered more over it, I began to realize the role of desire in dreams. And if you ask yourself the question, “To what end is this endeavor?”, you realize what you desire in your life and in your dreams.

For the first time, I particpated in Scuba

Diving in Pattaya, Thailand. Last

vacation, I had gone on a tour to

Thailand. It was a 10-day trip, and on the th5 day I had reached the Pattaya Diving

Centre. As I was not a trained diver, I had

a trainer with me who would assist me. I

was ready for experiencing the depth of

the earth and for seeing the beautiful

nature. We had arrived on the island and

my trainer had given me the instructions

and signs for communications. I was

geared up with a diving suit. I was a little

bit uncomfortable with the oxygen

cylinder and nervous too. I stepped

inside the water, first time I came up back

on to the surface of water because of the

weight. What fascinated me thoroughly

was the sound of my own breath

underwater. We kept swimming deeper

and deeper and my trainer kept

communicating through hand gestures to

make sure I am safe. Once we got to the

bottom, we moved around plants and

rocks, tried to swim after schools of fish.

The experience left me feeling serene. I

was fascinated with colourful fishes and

nature below the ocean. I wanted to

explore the greater depths of the ocean

and on my insistence my trainer decided

to take me down little deeper than

usually permissible for a newbie. Going

deeper, I could see the clear cut beauty. I

was in awe of the sheer magnificence of

it and just wanted time to stand still. I

wanted to stay there enjoy the view, but

unfortunately , I was rudely interrupted

by my cylinder indicating low-oxygen

level and I swam up. It was a great

experience swimming with a shoal of

bream and the limitless vision of the

water all around me.

Once I was studying in a room, When I heard a noise like falling of a broom,

I craned my ear,And sat very still to hear.

Suddenly I heard a noise,Like falling of a thousand toys,I was pretty sure it was a thief ,But there was no time for grief.

I ran down the stairs,And sure enough, saw his shining black hair,

He was excited with his loot,And I shot him with my gun ,aiming at his

boot.He cried out in pain,

While running with obvious strain.I called out to my watchman,Waking him from his slumber.

The watchman caught up,Having increased his speed a notch up.

The thief cried out in pain,And from his bag came a jewel rain.

I heard myself scream,Realizing it was a dream!

I started flying kites when I was around 12 years old. The learning process was a new experience for me at that time. I was allowed to control a flying kite, and after a few weeks, I finally achieved the most complicated part of kite flying- the process of making the kite airborne. For many kids, kite flying was a social experience and another reason to get together for many. It is a competitive sport.Feedback was also important while trying to make the kite airborne. It was almost like a continuous dialogue between the kite and its flyer- the flyer would pull in the string a bit to make the kite fly higher, then release the string again as the kite caught a gust of the wind, pull it back again as it lost height, and this to and fro movement continued till the kite reached its desired heights.I still wonder, what was that led to my fascination with kites! While I never thought of the kite as being alive, it had a certain attribute of ‘ tangible interactivity’ which I had never experienced before. The most exciting part of the kite flying learning process was when I held the spindle of a flying kite in between my fingers for the first time. This was a seemingly simple experience but, I will always hold it close to my heart. I don’t think I will ever forget the feeling I had when, I was able to make the kite airborne This was the most thrilling experience I ever had.

As a man was passing by the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only one small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the

elephants could, at anytime ,break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s good enough. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”The man was amazed. These animals could at anytime break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t , they were stuck right where they were.Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging on to a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? Failure is a part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.

There will come a time when you’ll be too weak to hold on,

That strong, courageous you, will seem long gone.

There will come a time when you’ll fall and won’t be able to get up again,

All that effort and hope will seem to go in vain.

There will come a time when all that surrounds you will be sorrow and despair,You’ll be broken from the inside with no

hope to spare.

There will come a time when every step you take further will seem to bring you two

steps down,No matter how hard you try to swim,

you’ll seem to drown.

There will come a time when life will take this test, you never prepared for,

You’ll feel like you’re stuck in a storm, so mighty, you never seem to get ashore.

But there will also come a time, when darkness shall give way to new light,

The rising sun shall give you an opportunity to start afresh and bright.

Night... It shows us the real beauty of the world, the real beauty within us. Night is the best time we can spend with ourselves, where we can know our darker sides better. Nights show us, that even the day gets dark for us , as we are just humans. Even our lives can get dark. But after the darkness, emerges the light of hope, the one of divine energy, which shows us the real value of ourselves. Who we are and what we are capable of being. Nights comfort us the most. They are very friendly with us. They give us shade, fix our pain, our darkness. Nights are always beautiful, not because they are dark and silent but because after that, the ray of Hope emerges.

GST (Goods and Service Tax)is an indirect tax that will be levied on both goods as well as services. All the existing state and central indirect taxes will be subsumed under the GST except custom duty. Under this tax system all goods and services will be taxed equally around the nation. The GST is an advantageous tax system but as we all know each coin has two sides similarly GST also has its corresponding disadvantages. Some of them are as follows:Petroleum products- The government has not included petroleum products under GST rates. Thus it becomes a disadvantage for the industries that uses petroleum products as their raw material. And they cannot input for tax credit.Multiple state registration- All the businesses whose market is in multiple states must get themselves registered in all the states it operates. It becomes a long and time consuming process.Luxury items- The luxury items have been kept under the highest rate of GST (28%) so it has become costlier. It would be not affordable to the middle class.Economic instability- Due to constant fluctuations in the economy by demonetization bill and now the GST bill, the economy of the country has became unstable.

-Jeet DesaiXI-Comm

GST

thAt the stroke of midnight, 15 August 1947, when the world slept, India woke up to its freedom, following that a bill was passed stating about the reservation regarding the backward classes. This bill for reservation and its impact in the course of 70 years has given birth to the topic of this debate.

The bill passed was supposed to be practiced for the following 20 years, mere 2 decades! Here we are in 2017 and that reservation still continues, I ask you, do we still need it? Should we still follow the practice that was supposed to end 5 decades ago!? NO the answer lies in just these 2 letters – NO.We the students: the future generation of India. Soon enough we would be going around the state rather the country in search of a college and profession we dream of. But let's face the harsh truth, shall we? The 'general' class students do not get admission as easily as the backward castes. It's not necessary that 'general' class people are always financially strong OR ST/SCs are financially weak……. Let's take the example of our very own Maharaja Sayajirao University, sorry to

rdlet you all know this but we get the 3 , I repeat the 3rd preference. The 1st preference goes to the backward classes, followed by foreign students and then we

rd'general' people follow at then 3 position in case of admissions.Firstly, reservations were considered as a government aid but now they're considered as a fundamental right. More over politicians use reservations as a source of vote bank. As long as this attitude prevails I think there would barely be any change in the reservation system. Now let's imagine this scenario - someone from the backward classes gets admission on the basis of caste and not on merit, in the final year he barely passes out with meager percentage. After passing he goes to work at a government hospital. Now arises the question! A person, who got admission on the basis of reservation, barely passed out, would he be able to perform medical processes when he even could not pass his examinations with stability. One more by-product of reservation is the brain drain. The candidates who actually deserve the seats don't get them because they are already booked for the backward classes. Hence the candidates who are truly capable, talented, and deserving go abroad in search of admission. They also work there and serve the other country with their talents. The rich people can get good education and opportunities whether they need it or not. The reserved classes get provisions for opportunities whether they deserve it or not. But the middle class seems to be hanging off with less money and even lesser opportunities. I would have readily agreed that reservations should be on the basis of caste if this same debate was held 50 years ago in the history of India. But in

stthe 21 century no one even considers caste a barrier anymore. The backward classes are no longer socially or financially weak. Therefore to conclude I'd like to say that if we wish to change India's status from developing to developed, then making reservation on the basis of economic status would make a whole lot a change.“We were all humans until race disconnected us; religion separated us; politics divided us; and wealth classified us.”……Deep inside me, here in the heart itself. It's just not about reservation it's about EQUALITY. Aren't backward castes fed the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer as we do? WHY are they given an upper hand, Why are they given an advantage?

-Aryan ShaikhXII-Comm

I hereby present my views for the motion 'Economic status should be the only criterion for reservation'.

We do not see things as they are; we see things as we want to. But now open your heart and see through its eyes with a feeling of humanity and do justice to those who crave for it! I hereby present my views against the motion 'Economic status should be the only criterion for reservation'.The Youth of India is full of abundant energy, courage, spirit for adventure, imagination, hopes and ambition. Our country can ride on high growth trajectory when each and every citizen gets equal opportunity, if provided ; but still after 70 years of independence there is a large underprivileged section who are thousands of miles away from the platform of equality. Article 334 of our Indian constitution states that reservation of seats and special representation is done for backward classes which was to be ceased after 20 years. It was introduced on 26th Nov. 1949. After analyzing the situation post 20 years it was altered various times. This suggests the very reason , the article which was introduced is not resolved. Hence removal of reservation based on caste is inappropriate. A dictionary defines backward classes as castes which are socially and educationally disadvantaged. Is that it? Are they just under privileged in these aspects? What about the respect, understanding, and love that one wishes for? They are getting neither of them. Loneliness and feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty. Reservation is not just to support them financially. When the children belonging to backward classes are given an opportunity to compete with other students they not only gain a chance to speak their heart out and express themselves but social recognition as well.India is home to two types of backward groups. A backward class student either is financially weak or has an illiterate family background. Because of illiteracy and poverty, the students aren't provided with the resources necessary to attain quality education. Because of lack of resources they fall short in the preparation of competitive exams like JEE, NEET, etc. and for those who have illiterate family backgrounds, awareness about the various preparations needed for such exams is lacking.Dr. B.R Ambedkar had imagined an India where the poor would never exist and the underprivileged would have better conditions after 20 long years. But it is our misfortune that we weren't able to make it to his expectations. Reservation of SC, ST, OBC does not mean that the general class gets less benefits, it means that the underprivileged gets an opportunity to make their conditions better and emerge to be well educated individuals. Education and a good job are opportunities for them to outshine their capabilities in the society. They are the fundamental requirements for an individual to grow and prosper. Reservation in these fields will bring forth improvement in human resource and eventually do good to our nation. Reservation is not an extra privileged done for the backward population, but is an extra effort for a victorious, advanced, prosperous, opulent future of our nation.Without everyone's involvement we cannot succeed and with all's involvement we can never fail! I would like to quote Rabindranath Tagore ; highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes us live in harmony with all existence .One child, one teacher; one pen, one book can change the world. After 70 long years of independence our country still falls under the category of a developing country and not a developed nation. It is because progress doesn't come with you and me, it comes with ‘US’. Progress will only knock our doors when they, the under privileged will progress as well. I would say that the worst form of equality is to try to make unequal things equal. Two individuals standing on two different levels trying to make the ends meet but having unequal resources cannot be compared. Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress and working together is success!

Economic Status Should Be The Only Criterion For Reservation

After the darkest hour of night,

Comes the sun’s ray of light.

A new hope shines upon you,

Telling-”Theres something you got to do”.

But my past’s shadow does not leave me,

I am denied of what I can be.

All I need is just another chance,

To practice and attain a proper stance.

I would erase all of my mistakes,

And repair all the heart breaks.

Don't wanna look down when I walk by,

Be worthy to claim the blue sky.

But after the heavy sorrow rains,

Every tear of sadness away,

The sunshine starts to make me gay.

Now will start my bright future,
