Market trends for Radio Access NetworkTDM에서 IP로…

과거의 Mobile Network은 TDM 기반의 Circuit Network 이었으며,

현재의 Mobile Network의 Mobile Data Core Network은 이미 IP

Network으로 전홖되었으며, Mobile Voice Signaling/Core Network 역시

IP Network으로 전홖되고 있는 추세임.

향후의 Mobile Network은 Mobile Access Network을 포함한 모든

인프라가 IP 기반의 Packet Network으로 전홖될 것으로 예상됨.

보호 절체가 매우 Simple하게 이뤄지며,

50ms 이내의 절체 시간을 제공함.

ATM/PPP/Ethernet 등의 다양한 형태의Layer-2 Protocol을 수용할 수 있으나 이를인지할 수 없기 때문에 Layer-1 기반의End- to-End 투명한 연결을 제공함.

TDM 특성상 트래픽 유무에 상관없이 항상 연동된 인터페이스 대역폭이전달망내에서 확보되어야 하기 때문에 망 자원 홗용이 비효율적임.따라서 급격한 데이터 트래픽 증가에 따른 확장성이 미흡함.

CISCO IP RAN SolutionCEoP (Circuit Emulation over Packet)

IP RAN은 MPLS L2 VPN 기술을 통해 L2 기반의 End-to-End 투명한연결을 제공하는 기술이며, ATM/PPP/Ethernet 뿐만 아니라 E1/T1 또한수용이 가능함.

L1 Protocol의 경우 Timeslot을 통해 전달되는 Bit 단위의 Data들을 L2기반의 MPLS L2 VPN을 통해 전달해야 하므로 이를 Emulation 하기위한 ‘CEoP’ 기술이 필요함.

How to Sell???Solution GAP

국내 Mobile 사업자들은 차별화된 Value-Added 서비스를 제공하기위해서 지능화된 All IP Network의 필요성을 충분히 공감하고 있음.

하지만 현재 TDM 기반 Access Network에 대한 기획 / 예산집행 / 운영은 IP 담당자가 아닌 상대적으로 IP 지식이 적은 Optical 담당자임.

Optical 담당자들은 TDM에서 IP로의 전홖에 대해 어느 정도 공감하고 있으나 생소한 IP 기술에 대해 여전히 거부감을 가지고 있는 실정임.
