It has become a light house oflearning for persons of all ages and genders particularly to such persons who,for different reasons, can not avail the higher course of studies as regular fulltime students. It has been striving to extend the reach of higher education todifferent sections of the society located in divergent geographical areas in thestate and outside the state. It is an effort to equip the adult community withtools and skills to attain professional competence. Focusing on the ruraleconomy, tribal region, tough terrain is one of the mission of the ICDEOL andit tries to encourage student enrolment from among weaker sections evenbeyond the reservation limit. Regular mode of education is not sufficientenough to reach this goal. The basic philosophy of our aim is to “Reach theUnreached”. The teaching-learning process of history is closely related to thestudy of past not simply for the past alone; it aims to understand the presentalso in a critical manner. The mission and objective of the programme is tomotivate the prospective learners to get acquainted with the latest findings aswell as research methodology of history as a discipline. It aims to cater thegrowing demands of the learners not only for those who want to be ateachers or researchers, but also to those who intend to be administrators,journalists or even professionals. The Himachal Pradesh University was established in the year 1970, andimmediately after its establishment, the Himachal Pradesh University took abold step towards proliferation of knowledge and democratization ofeducational opportunities by setting up the Directorate of CorrespondenceCourses in 1971. The University has played a pioneering role in launching theprogramme of Distance Education at the Undergraduate and Postgraduatelevel. It was the first to impart instruction at post graduate level in socialsciences, humanities, commerce and teacher training through the mode ofdistance education. Over the years, the Directorate of CorrespondenceCourses moved towards absorbing the emerging philosophy of distanceeducation and adopting multi-media approach to impart instruction. Since itsinception, the ICDEOL has been striving hard to serve the students who areotherwise deprived of higher education. It has become a lighthouse oflearning for persons of all ages and genders, particularly to such personswho, for different reasons, cannot avail the higher course of studies asregular full time students. It aims to promote the holistic development throughacademic excellence, employability, acquisition of analytical skills and higherresearch. The ICDEOL aims to introduce B Com program under open anddistance learning mode of education with a view to provide opportunities toaccess to higher education. The motive is to develop managerial skills amongthe rural as well as urban people. The courses are designed for all willing,qualified and working people who could not pursue the education in regularmode. The need and aspirations of the youth in the region is one of themissions of the International Centre for Distance Education and OpenLearning (ICDEOL). It tries to encourage students’ enrolment from amongweaker section and even beyond the reservation limit. The programme aimsto achieve the following objectives: 1. To provide an opportunity to get aB.Com degree to those who find it difficult to pursue regular B.Com course ata University either due to their job commitments or certain othercircumstances. 2. To help the learners, study at their own pace and todevelop skills in matters related to commerce. 3. To provide adequate basicunderstanding about commerce among the students. 4. To create anadditional avenue of self-employment and also to benefit various institutionsby providing them with suitable qualified persons.

The HEI undertakes to ensure all the provisions of the regulation and few specific provisions adherence to the following:

Learner Support Centre defined under these regulations will not be the Learner Support Centre for more than two HigherEducational Institutions at a time to offer programmes in Open and Distance Learning mode:-

Further undertakes to ensure that the HEI shall display on its website a joint declaration by authorized signatories, Registrar andDirector of Centre for Internal Quality Assurance, authenticating the documents uploaded on its website, in compliance ofregulation 9 of UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020.

The HEI hereby declare that the information given above and in the enclosed documents is true, correct and nothing materialhas been concealed therein.
