Dance tickets are $25 per person. Students must have a ticket to enter and NO tickets will be sold at the door. Attire for the evening is semi-formal. To purchase tickets, students must use the following link (make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Homecoming ticket link): https://www.solonschools.org/ticketportal

We look forward to celebrating these annual events with all of our SHS students!

2021-22 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In order to continue our tradition of excellence, the school has established expectations, procedures, and policies that are spelled out in detail in the Student/Parent Handbook. Please take time to review the online Solon High School Handbook in its entirety with your child. The Handbook can be found under “Succeed at SC” which is listed under Quick Links on the SHS home page. It is our sincere hope that an awareness of the school’s guidelines will result in a successful year for everyone associated with SHS!

WEBSITE & EMAIL

The Solon High School website is a good source for information. The web address is solonschools.org/shs. To email a school employee use the employee’s full first and last name followed by @solonboe.org.

Emails from the District or the principal will be shown as coming from Solon City SD, [email protected] or [email protected]. Please enable your account to accept email noti-fications from these addresses.

It is critical we have current email addresses on file for all parents. The school obtains updated email addresses when information is submitted using the annual emergency update link sent at the begin-ning of the school year. Contact the high school by calling 349-6230 (press 0) when you have a change of email address after the year begins.

GET EXCITED SHS!!!

2021/2022 PARKING

Those who do not yet have their license will be able to apply as soon as they have their Ohio driver’s license. Permits will not be held or reserved for any students. Entering information into the system does not reserve a permit for the student. They will receive their permit once they have paid and there is confirmation of eligibility (ie: valid license, registration and insurance) Please remember to park in the commons or pool lobby but not in the red lined staff parking spots. The parking spots are NOT assigned this year.

GOOD MATCH, REACH AND SAFETY SCHOOLS

Have you been wondering what these terms mean? Here’s a quick run-down: Good Match: A good match school is one that is the best fit for you based on your academic record in high school and your extracurricular activities. Reach: You might have difficulty getting into a reach school based on your academic record or extracurricu-lar activities, but with an excellent essay, standout recommendation or something else that sets you apart, you might have a chance. Safety (or Likely): A safety/likely school is so-called because your academic performance generally ex-ceeds the requirements for admission. While you shouldn’t take it for granted – no school is a sure-thing – you can be more confident in your chance of admission.

A REMINDER TO STUDENTS FOR TESTING

Please be sure you have a current ID issued by the state, picture ID from your school, or passport, AND your admission ticket. You will not be admitted to ACT or SAT testing without a valid ID and your admission ticket.

STUDENTS REQUESTING ACCOMMODATIONS

Students on an IEP or 504 plan who would like to apply to the testing companies for accommodations should pick up the accommodations request forms from their interventionist (IEPs) or school counselor (504s) as soon as possible. Allow at least eight weeks for processing by the interventionist/counselor and ACT/College Board before desired test date.

TEACHING CHILDREN THE IMPORTANCE OF GRATITUDE

Children are perceptive and learn by example. Our demonstration of gratitude can help them find greater happiness and satisfaction in life. Learning gratitude will come with education, experience and humility. The counseling department at SHS is grateful for your continued support!
