Dream Together!

From the King and Queen of Atenveldt:

reetings, and Welcome to Estrella War XXXIII!

We are delighted that you have joined us for a week under the stars

with our friends and chosen family! This year’s War promises to be

filled with honorable and ferocious fighting upon the hardsuit field,

the rapier field, the archery and thrown weapons ranges, in Town

Square’s tournament field, in the Arts and Sciences competition, and throughout the

event at various challenges and competitions!

There is something here for everyone, whether they are attending their very first event,

or they are seasoned members. We invite you to explore the class listings, take a stroll

out to the equestrian arena to visit with some equine friends, attend Grand Court, and

immerse yourself in the magic of the SCA!

To those who have traveled great distances to join us here, we extend our most heartfelt

thanks! We hope that you find the hospitality of the Solar Kingdom very much to

your liking, and that you return to your home Kingdom with a smile upon your face

and stories of glory and revelry!

To those who join us from here in Atenveldt, thank you and welcome! You are the

life’s blood of this glorious Kingdom, and we are honored that you are here!

We hope that you enjoy your time here at Estrella, and that you are able to truly

experience the stardust that makes this Dream one that we all look forward to sharing,

year after year!

Warmly,

From the King and Queen of the Outlands

elcome to Estrella War!

We are looking forward to a fun filled week of activities, seeing old friends

and meeting new ones. There will be numerous chances to participate in

martial activities, A&S classes, shopping and nighttime entertainment, and we hope

to see everyone out and having a great time.

Our Heavies, Fencers, Archers and Artisans have been sharpening their skills and are

fully prepared to do battle on all fronts. The battle for our son Sir Cypser’s “soul” will

commence on Friday. While Atenveldt, and Mistress Mineko may have his heart, the

Outlands is going to keep his “soul”.

Remember, War doesn’t happen without the help of many individuals. Volunteering is

a great way to meet new people. Please take time to help where you can.

Thanks to everyone for coming to Estrella.

Site Rules The Estrella War staff and the Kingdom of Atenveldt are proud to have you attend Estrella War.

As hosts, we will do our best to enable you to have a safe and enjoyable war. We ask that you give everyone the same respect, courtesy,

and civility you would want for the most important person in your world.

Estrella War is held on privately owned land, rented for the enjoyment of this event.

Attendees must abide by all modern laws, the Governing Documents of the SCA, Inc., Atenveldt Kingdom Law, and these Estrella War

Site & Safety Regulations.

Attendees need to follow instructions given by authorized members of the war staff, SCA officers, onsite Emergency Medical Service,

and Law Enforcement personnel. Individuals who do not comply with these guidelines may face immediate expulsion from site without

a refund, and possible involvement of local law enforcement.

All attendees must attempt to wear clothing that is styled after the pre 17th century.

Alcohol & Drugs The drinking age in Arizona is 21. Carrying, storing or using unlawful substances is a criminal offense. Serving or providing alcohol to

anyone under the age of 21 is a criminal offense. Modern law enforcement agencies will be notified for all cases of underage drinking

and any unlawful drug use. Criminal acts warranting the notification of modern law enforcement agencies are just cause for expulsion

from the site without refund of site fees. Anyone temporarily removed from site for alcohol-related activities may be expelled from the

remainder of the event without refund of site fees.

Camp Fires: Fires in camps must be attended at all times to ensure that they are safe. Fire pits should be of a reasonable size (with all embers

contained). Fire pits must be 12 inches above the ground at a minimum. Fire pits must have a total fuel area of 3 feet or less in diameter,

and 2 feet or less in height (Pinal County Clean Air Regulation). Bonfires are not permitted. Large unattended campfires will be cause

for expulsion from the event without refund. Please keep flammable liquids (including all alcohol) away from fires and other open

flames. Ash cans are provided at privy stations (ashes must be cold to the touch before being placed in an ash can). Receptacles for ashes

are clearly labeled. Please be sure they are only used for disposal of ashes!

Fire Restrictions The staff of Estrella War, its attendees and its vendors are required to observe any and all site, city, county or state issued fire restrictions.

Driving/Parking Please review the site map when you arrive to be sure you understand the site road layout, and where to park while you unload your

things and where to park after unloading. A strict 60 min load/unload time limit will be enforced. Unattended vehicles and trailers found

illegally parked will be towed immediately at the owner’s expense. Unload your vehicle; take it to the parking lot, then set up your

camp.

The speed limit on all roads inside the site is 15 MPH! Attendees who ignore the speed limit may be removed from the site without

refund.

Car Tags must be visible on your vehicle dashboard and on all trailers at all times.

Fire lanes and main roads must be kept clear at all times. ALL vehicles must be parked in a designated parking space and not along

roadways.

Vehicles may not be parked on any of the main roads, main field areas, in designated “no parking” areas, or on the roads along the

campsites.

Please be aware that during inclement weather and muddy conditions, the Main Autocrats and Site Autocrats reserve the right to stop

vehicle traffic on site and in the parking lots until such time as they determine that vehicles can be moved safely and without damage to

the site.

Digging & Trenching:

No trenching around encampments or tents. No digging of “in ground fire pits.”

Torches/Lanterns/Fire Arts: No open-flames are allowed, and “fire arts” performances not allowed due to Town of Queen Creek permit restrictions. All torches and

lanterns must have a grill or mesh flue or be enclosed in some manner to reduce the chances of sparks and embers.

Fire Extinguishers: The Fire-Marshall requires that your camp have a 2 lb. - ABC rated (or greater) fire extinguisher outside each tent in an easy to reach

spot. We also encourage having one located by each kitchen area and fire pit.

Propane tanks: Propane tanks used in kitchens and/or tents must be placed within a plastic crate or secured to a stable pole to prevent tripping over.

Grey Water: All grey water that contains potentially caustic chemicals (cleaning solutions/scrubs, Brasso, Windex, bleach, etc.) need to be dumped

in the Grey Water tanks located at privy stations.

Land Clean Up Due to the high cost of trash collection and site cleanup, these rules will be enforced during the Estrella War.

All land is to be left in the same condition or better than you received it.

All personal items and trash must be completely removed from your camping area and a final inspection by your groups designated land

agent shall be done. Take special note to remove tent stakes, wood, and cigarette butts.

Make sure that all tent stakes are removed from the ground. If you cannot remove a stake please clearly mark the stake and ask for help

from a member of the War Staff.

It is highly recommended that each group provide butt cans for your group. All firewood is to be removed from site.

Litter & Campfire Ashes: Dumpsters and ash can receptacles are provided throughout the site. Please ensure that trash is placed in dumpsters (not in ash cans),

and that ashes are cold to the touch before being discarded! At the end of the event, you are responsible for leaving your camp area free

of litter and for hauling away large items like rugs and any type of furniture. This is critical if you wish the SCA to have future Estrella

Wars!

Merchants Only authorized merchants may sell on site.

Media and Commercial/Documentary filming Commercial/documentary video/film crews and commercial still photographers wishing to record activities at Estrella War may only

film with prior permission from the Society Media Officer, and must follow the “SCA Commercial/Documentary Filming Guidelines”

and the guidelines explained in Press & Media.

Minor Children

Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by their parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or a designated temporary guardian; must have all

paperwork required for attending the event with minors. The Medical Authorization Form and Temporary Guardianship Form can be

found on the Ateveldt.org website in the Office of Youth Activities section of the People section under Other Officers.

Camp curfews require that minors 15 and under must be in their own camp or escorted by an adult from 10 PM to 5 AM, and minors 16

to 18 years old must be in their own camp or escorted by an adult from Midnight to 5 AM.

Minors and the accompanying parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult are responsible for the minor’s behavior while they are at

Estrella War, and will be held accountable for the actions of the minors in their care as explained in the “Kingdom of Atenveldt Policy

for Addressing Transgressions by Minors at SCA Events” (copies available at Information Point) and the guidelines in the event Gate

Book.

If a minor child is found un-accompanied or endangered, a report will be filed with the war Staff & the Watch. When necessary, local

law enforcement agencies will also be notified.

WARNING: Any child found unattended in a closed vehicle or tent during the day will be ‘rescued’. Even in the middle of an Arizona

winter, the interior of a vehicle can quickly reach lethal temperatures.

Everyone under 12 must wear their Youth Token at all times. If your child is lost, contact a war staff member for assistance.

Noise Curfew/Off Limit Areas Camp curfews for minors: Minors 15 and under must be in their own camp or escorted by an adult from 10 PM to 5 AM; minors 16 to

18 years old must be in their own camp or escorted by an adult from Midnight to 5 AM.

2:00 AM noise reduction curfew will be enforced. Camps must limit loud drumming, chanting, singing, yelling, horns, etc. after 2 AM. This does not

mean that all festivities have to stop at 2 AM, it means the noise, activities, public behavior; must be reduced so that they are not disruptive to attendees

in adjoining camps.

Battlefield and Archery areas are closed and off-limits to parties/pedestrians at Sunset. Only marshaled events (for example: archery

night shoots or torchlight tourneys) will be allowed in these areas. There is a noise curfew for the battlefield area beginning at 10pm and

must be observed until sunrise.

No playing in and/or around the canals. You must use the designated footbridges for all traffic over the canals.

Farm buildings, abandoned or not, and all orchards are strictly off limits. Any attendee found within these off-limited/fenced areas; may

be immediately expelled from the site without refund. Fines may be assessed as designated by the site owner Mark Schnepf.

Horses are not allowed in designated camping areas, on battlefields, or on Merchant’s Row. Equestrian riding is only allowed in the

equestrian area and designated trails; access to the equestrian trails is only allowed through the designated southern road entrance. At

all other times, horses must be in a trailer to move them. This is a site owner restriction and will be strictly enforced.

Other Sources of Ignition Fireworks, sparklers, paper sky lanterns, and all other incendiary devices or uncontrolled sources of ignition are banned from Estrella

War. This is due to the obvious fire hazards and dense population, but also would be in direct violation of our County Permits and

Insurance Bonds. Anyone found using such devices will be ejected from the site without refund.

Due to cost incurred from the Town of Queen Creek for Emergency Service calls, there will be a minimum $750 call-out charge for

ANY fire engine call to Estrella War. Failure to comply with Event Rules regarding fires, fireworks, and fire extinguishers will be cause

for expulsion from the event without refund and may result in involvement of local law enforcement. Charges for fire call- outs, due to

individuals who do not comply with these guidelines, may be assessed to the involved parties.

Pets Pets are allowed at Estrella War, as long as they are kept on a leash not exceeding 6 feet in length, or housed in a closed, latched kennel

throughout the event.

Owners are held accountable for their pet’s disruptive behavior and noise. Local Law Enforcement authorities will be called to site to

handle loose or disruptive animals.

Owners MUST pick up after their pets!

Pets must wear two forms of identification on their collars: The owner’s legal information (name, phone, address, etc.), and the owner’s

SCA name and group information (Kingdom, Barony, Group, Household) needed to locate the owner at the event. The Troll/Front Gate

will provide wristbands for you to use as an SCA collar tag for your pet if you ask.

Livestock (including horses, ponies, miniature horses, goats, pigs, etc.) are restricted to the Equestrian area and designated trails. This

is a site owner restriction and will be strictly enforced.

WARNING: Any pet found unattended in a closed vehicle or tent during the day will be ‘rescued’. Even in the middle of an Arizona

winter, the interior of a vehicle can quickly reach lethal temperatures.

Radios The war staff knows FRS radios are popular for families and groups who wish to keep in touch during the event, but it is important to

know which channels are being used by the war staff and emergency personnel working to run the event. We request you and your family

use channels 13, 14, or 15. We request that you and your children keep the staff radio frequencies clear, and that you limit your

conversations on the family channels to the information you most need (so others can share the channel as well).

You can request services (be sure and give your name and location) on these channels.

Rules for Your Camp Where to Camp: Camping is allowed in designated camping areas shown on the Site Map. If you are seeking a place to camp, please

work with your Kingdom’s Estrella War Land Coordinator or the Estrella War Land Coordinator for Atenveldt. Camping is not allowed

on the Target Archery Field, or off the main property/site. The surrounding properties are private land, and law enforcement agencies

will be notified if you set up an encampment there.

Motor-Homes/Travel Trailers/Recreational Vehicles/Campers, and any other vehicles that are designed and built to be “camped” in,

shall park in the RV Parking area unless directed to park elsewhere by the Main Autocrat or Parking Autocrat or their designee. This

would be any vehicle that has sleeping and cooking accommodations built into the vehicle. Camping (sleeping and/or cooking) in

vehicles that are not designed for sleeping/cooking in (for example: a U-Haul truck) is prohibited in all locations.

Site Closure The Estrella War site closes on Monday at 12:00 noon. Please be off the site by 2:00pm. EW staff and volunteers still tearing down the

war are the only exception.

Site Tokens/Car Tags Every person attending Estrella War is issued a Site Token (or Youth Token) at the front gate, a car tag is issued for each vehicle and

trailer.

Your Site Token is your receipt for entrance to the site. You may be asked by the war staff to show your Site Token and modern ID at

any time, so please keep both with you. If you do not have a Site Token with you, you may be escorted to the gate to pay the entrance

fee, or removed from site. Children under 12 must wear their Youth Token at all times.

Your Car Tag must be displayed clearly on your vehicle dashboard and on all trailers at all times. Vehicles and trailers found onsite

without a Car Tag will be towed immediately at the owner’s expense.

Attendees re-entering the site must show both their Site Token and Car Tag, so please be sure you take both with you if you leave. If

you return to site without a Site Token and/or Car Tag, you must pay to re-enter the event without refund. No vehicles will be allowed

to re-enter without a Car Tag.

Tent Heaters: We cannot over-emphasize the lethal dangers of asphyxiation and carbon monoxide poisoning! Please use common sense when running

propane heaters, ESPECIALLY in unventilated enclosures (tents). We recommend extinguishing heaters and lanterns BEFORE bedding

down. Watch over your friends and your campmates. Invest in a battery-operated Carbon Monoxide Detector for your tent.

Trash All trash items are to be placed in the provided dumpsters.

Absolutely no trash of any kind is to be placed next to your encampment or on a road. This includes, but is not limited to tents, chairs,

rugs, tarps, coolers, wood, beds, tables, and beverage boxes.

Do not put trash in the ash barrels. Do not put ash in the Dumpsters.

Do not throw cigarette butts on the ground. All extinguished cigarette butts shall be placed in a proper waste receptacle. Put them in

your pouch, pocket, purse, man-bag, a fire pit, or the trash cans and dumpsters but Please do NOT put them on the ground.

Human waste from in-tent commodes/buckets must be disposed of in appropriate receptacles. If buckets/litter bags are found within the

camping area and/or left by the privies the responsible party may be removed from site without refund of site fees and barred from

attendance of future Estrella Wars. This is a health issue that must be observed at all times. Please seal off and dispose of these waste

items appropriately.

Watch (Security) / Lost & Found Lost items should be reported to Watch Point.

The Watch at Estrella War is here to watch, look, listen and report. The main watching areas are the roads, parking and merchant areas.

SCA volunteers are always needed to assist with the watch. Please consider volunteering by signing up at The Watch Point or through

the Volunteer Coordinator.

Found items should be taken to the Watch Point (unclaimed items will be stored there until the close of the event).

The watch is unable to provide security for the belongings of attendees. Please secure your money or valuables.

A Message From the Estrella War Chirurgeons In Charge On behalf of the Their Royal Majesties of Atenveldt you to Estrella War!! Our greatest desire is that you have a safe and enjoyable experience while

you enjoy the hospitality of the Kingdom of Atenveldt. Unfortunately, unexpected medical issues arise, and the chirurgeonate (First Aid Tent) and war staff have gone to great lengths to ensure that appropriate medical care, if needed, is available.

**For medical emergencies, contact any member of the war staff for immediate assistance. **

First and foremost, we need to stress that the Chirurgeon Point is here to serve your first aid needs. We are able to offer first aid as necessary, but are

limited to basic first aid care only.

Services that we are able to provide are:

Basic bandaging (Band-Aids and Ace Wraps)

Ice Packs for Injuries

Basic Dehydration Management

Charging Station for Medical Equipment during operational hours;

Directions to outside medical services.

Coordination with On-Site and Off-Site Emergency Medical Personnel

**We are not permitted to dispense any medications; if you require medication we will gladly arrange for EMS treatment and/or direct you

to the closest pharmacy for assistance**

The Chirurgeon Point will be open from 8AM-8PM every day. We will also have an on-call chirurgeon available for after-hours needs. Watch Point

is able to contact the on-call Chirurgeon for immediate assistance after-hours. If you are unable to get to Watch Point, or need assistance after 8PM,

contact any member of the war staff, and they will coordinate contact with a chirurgeon on-call. If you have a radio available, you may also call over

the Chirurgeon channel directly for assistance.

Medical Emergencies We always hope that the need for emergency care is not needed, but in an event of this size it is, unfortunately, inevitable. For that reason, we have

employed paramedics who will be residing on-site for the duration of the war. If you have a medical emergency, contact any chirurgeon or war staff

member, and they will coordinate the assistance of the site paramedics.

If you wish to transport yourself for emergency care, the closest emergency room is located just 2 miles from the Estrella War Site:

Banner Ironwood Medical Center, 37000 N Gantzel Rd, San Tan Valley, AZ 85140.

There are also several urgent care centers and/or pharmacies within a few minutes’ drive from the site. More information is available at the Chirurgeon

Point.

In the event that an ambulance is needed for a medical emergency, the war staff must assist the emergency personnel to the location of the emergency.

This is a logistically complicated task, requiring blocking of traffic on the site, and closing of roads for a short period. Please be patient when this happens and follow all directions by the war staff. We must ensure the safety of all, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Things to Consider This is Arizona. It can get hot, dry, windy and dusty. If you have allergies, we recommend bringing your allergy medication with you and taking it as directed. Although this time of year is not usually excessively hot, dehydration is still a concern. Please hydrate adequately. This is the Valley of the

Sun. Please wear sunscreen and/or a hat with a visor when not in a covered area. Animals: We have scorpions, rattle snakes, coyotes and other such

wildlife. Simple rule: If it is not your pet, DON’T TOUCH IT OR FEED IT! In most cases, animals will stay away from the site, but be vigilant and

use caution.

In Service to the Dream,

Mistress Rowan Bridget Blackmoor

Estrella War Chirurgeon in Charge

9:00 AM Preach It, Sister: Feminine

Voices in the Middle Ages-

-Lady Eleanor Cleavely

This class covers the inception and flourishing of the Lollard Movement in England

during the mid-14th century and how this movement informs and influences the

character of the Wife of Bath in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath’s Prologue in The

Canterbury Tales. During the 14th century, the Lollard Movement bucked the Catholic

system, insisting that the people had the right to interpret the Bible and that women had

the right and ability to preach and teach the Gospel. Chaucer’s Wife of Bath preaches and glosses biblical texts in an effort to justify her numerous marriages and views on the

role of women within marriage, taking apart the preaching of St. Jerome and St. Paul,

who preached against a female voice within the Christian faith. This class looks at the

connection between this burgeoning movement, a precursor to the Protestant Reformation of the 15th & 16th centuries, women writers during this period, including

Margery Kemp, Julian of Norwich, and Geoffrey Chaucer’s most famous pilgrim, The

Wife of Bath. In addition, this class analyzes St. Paul & St. Jerome’s exhortations against feminine voices within and without the Church and juxtaposes these competing medieval

feminine voices, masculine interpretation and biblical suppression of those voices, and

analyzes their importance to medieval literature as a whole.

9:00 AM Preach It, Sister: Feminine

Voices in the Middle Ages-

-Lady Eleanor Cleavely

This class covers the inception and flourishing of the Lollard Movement in England

during the mid-14th century and how this movement informs and influences the character

of the Wife of Bath in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath’s Prologue in The

Canterbury Tales. During the 14th century, the Lollard Movement bucked the Catholic system, insisting that the people had the right to interpret the Bible and that women had

the right and ability to preach and teach the Gospel. Chaucer’s Wife of Bath preaches and

glosses biblical texts in an effort to justify her numerous marriages and views on the role

of women within marriage, taking apart the preaching of St. Jerome and St. Paul, who preached against a female voice within the Christian faith. This class looks at the

connection between this burgeoning movement, a precursor to the Protestant Reformation

of the 15th & 16th centuries, women writers during this period, including Margery

Kemp, Julian of Norwich, and Geoffrey Chaucer’s most famous pilgrim, The Wife of Bath. In addition, this class analyzes St. Paul & St. Jerome’s exhortations against

feminine voices within and without the Church and juxtaposes these competing medieval

feminine voices, masculine interpretation and biblical suppression of those voices, and

analyzes their importance to medieval literature as a whole.

back of each sign then post all 4 pictures in the comment section of the album titled “2017 Photo contest”.

Wednesday Morning – Opening the practice range

Wednesday Afternoon – Royals officially opening the Scenarios Range

Thursday Morning – KRA Prize Shoot: Dream Together.

Thursday Afternoon – Queen’s Champion Shoot

Friday Morning – Ivarr’s 2nd Annual Estrella War Traditional Shoot

Friday Afternoon – Baronial Prize Shoot: The Hunt (hosed by the Barony of Ered Sul)

Saturday Morning – The Lord of the Rings Estrella Champion qualifying shoot

Saturday Afternoon – The Estrella Championship Finals (Zombie Race)

Ivarr’s 2nd Annual Estrella War Traditional Shoot To be styled based on the shooting at the Mark the Yeoman did on the way to Sunday praise in England.

The shoot will be held Friday morning, first arrows at 10am. The targets will be clout. Single arrow per target, closest arrow wins that

point. 6 targets each round, then they are moved. Shoot will consist of 7 or 9 rounds, dependent upon time.

Due to the nature of this shoot, all entrants MUST be present at 10 to participate. Bow shooters will be divided into two groups: 34lb

draw and lower, and 35lb draw and above. Any adjustments will be posted at the range. Targets will be set at distances from 35 to 80

yards.

Youth Archery Thursday: 10:00 am-Noon

1:00 pm -3:00 pm

Friday: 10:00 am – Noon

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Saturday: 9:00am – Noon

As before, Thursday and Friday is for teaching rules, range etiquette and target practice using standard target faces. Saturday morning

there will be a tournament with 1 winner going to each of the following age groups; Ages 5 -7, 8-10 and 11-13

Note: Children or youth older than age 13 are welcome to come and shoot with the younger kids but may find it too slow or boring and

are encouraged to shoot with the adults.

Scenarios for the tournament will be Grimm’s Fairytales themed.

This year, the winners will receive a scroll presented by a crowned dignitary or other representative as determined by the KRA and the

EW Mains, on the rage at noon on Saturday after the tournament. Last year, we had our own Queen Melissa of Atenveldt perform the

honors, while in years past we’ve seen the Princess from Oertha, the Queen of the East Kingdom, and more. This is a big deal for the

kids, as they are not often called up in court or receive scrolls. We refrain from awarding these scrolls in Grand Court because our youth

are most often not in attendance at such long courts.

Equestrian: Events and Activities (All schedules are tentative at this writing and must remain somewhat fluid to accommodate courts and Royal whim. Please check at the main gate

and drop by the Equestrian area for updates.)

Throughout the war the Equestrians are supporting the Cancer Tournament by issuing a “challenge” to all fighters. An Equestrian will “fight” the

challenger by pinning his/her coat of arms to a target (set on the course of challenger’s desire); whoever “wins” has to give up a small token. A

donation of $10 is requested by all challengers which goes towards the Cancer funds.

team fields 5 fighters at a time, only two knights may be fielded at a time. Teams should come up with unique and suitable names and heraldry.

Teams will compete on 3 different scenarios in rotation. The first scenario is an open field. Second is a bridge battle. When there are two remaining

teams, the final scenario will be fought on a broken-field flag scenario to determine the tournament victor.

Marshals will be present to referee the games and ensure honest and competitive play under SCA guidelines. It is encouraged that each team bring at

least one non-combatant who is familiar with the rules and authorized to marshal to help.

Scoring: Each round points are awarded to both the winning team and losing team for kills and objectives gained. These points are used to determine

which teams advance to the next round.

09:00 – 17:00 Town Square Aeric Outlands Prize Bear Pit

The list table for the Outlands Prize Tournament opens at 9am, bring your fighter authorization cards to the list table (Outlanders, you’ll need your membership card as well).

Assignment of fighters to each pit will be a mixture of all Kingdoms and ranks – we pride ourselves on giving you the opportunity to fight people from

across the Knowne World. The fighting will open with bear pits. The first and second fighters will start off in a single fight. The loser will exit to give

the name of the one who just beat them to the List Mistress for their field and goes to the end of the line. The next fighter in the line goes into fight the winner. You know the drill.

If there is a double kill, both fighters are considered to have a loss. In this case, 2 new fighters will enter the ring for the next fight. If a fighter in a cell

achieves 15 wins, they are automatically in the final and are removed from the Bear Pit.

Weapons are limited to 7.5 feet in length. After the 1-hour Bear Pit, the top winning fighters (including those that acquired 15 wins in that cell) will move on to a Best 2-of-3, double elimination tournament with all the pomp (double kills re fought). Additionally, a secondary tournament from fighters

specifically selected from the bear pits will run concurrently. Draws will be semi-random and we will try to minimize the fighters having to fight

someone from their own kingdom or one they have fought before. This will start with multiple fields and dwindle to one as the number of fighters

lessons.

The victor of each tournament will receive wonderful prizes gifted by Outlands artisans and her citizens!

Greetings from the Estrella War Volunteer Steward!

The volunteer point is located on Merchant’s Row and shares space with the Watch. Look for the signs!

Volunteers are needed in many areas of the war!

We are looking for folks who can walk the watch, check in their fellows at the front gate, spend time with our

youth, and keep our fighters healthy on the field.

We are always in need of special officers like warranted exchequers, youth coordinators and marshals. If you

are warranted for any office within the SCA, we have a place for you!

When you volunteer, you will be given a receipt for your time from the event steward in charge of that

department. Bring the receipt to volunteer point because …

Volunteering makes you eligible for gifts given in a Volunteer Raffle! For every hour that you volunteer

for the war, you will receive one entry into the raffle. There are goodies from our wonderful merchants and

artisans from around the known world!

A raffle will be held each day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 1:00pm at Volunteer Point.

On Sunday, the raffle will be at 11:00 and held in conjunction with the Atenveldt Sherriff’s auction.

On Monday at 10:00, there will be a special raffle for those who volunteer from Sunday 12:00 noon

onwards.

You do not have to be present to win a raffle prize. The winning numbers will be posted at volunteer point. In

order to claim your prize, you will need to bring your half of the winning raffle ticket to volunteer point.

Prizes need to be picked up by 4:00pm Sunday afternoon. Any unclaimed prizes will be added to Monday’s

raffle. All prizes are final. No exchanges please.

And don’t forget, every hour your give to the war will earn money for your local group or kingdom!

The Town Criers will be meeting at 7:30 AM every day of Estrella at Volunteer Point.
