Front Aerial View of the Charbagh Railway Station

• To be at par with other World Railways. • Improvement of stations to facilitate the Image building among passengers travelling on Indian Railways. • Well planned stations would facilitate systematize the dealing with large volume of passengers. • To maximize the utilization air space and under ground space for commercial exploitation. • Systematic and Smooth flow of movement of passengers to avoid confusion/harassment and chaos.

• Fly over and service lane to facilitate uninterrupted movement of vehicles.

• Direct approach to departure lounge by taking the route of flyover thus reducing the load of traffic from

the surface roads.

• A service lane within railway area parallel to the existing road is also planned for the vehicles going in the

parking areas to facilitate uninterrupted movement of vehicles.

Departure Lounge of the Railway Station

• Departure Lounge on 1st floor covering all platforms.

• Departure lounge is only for ticketed passengers.

• All out-going passengers i.e. passenger to board train will first come to Departure Lounge.

• Adequate seating arrangements in Departure Lounge.

• Un-interrupted moving space.

• Outgoing passengers will remain in departure lounge till information of their train gets displayed and

announced.

• On knowing about the expected arrival of train, the passengers by any selected mean can reach to the platform.

• Facilities like Food stalls, Water coolers, water booths, Book stalls, porter room at both ends of platform,

Juice Corner and Tea/ Coffee Corner on platform.

Subway of the Railway Station

• Incoming passengers have to follow the path of subway for exit or if they like to go to departure lounge then they will have to go through subway and not through the escalators/stairs on platform coming from departure lounge as they are for one way movement only.

Subway layout including dispersal well of the Railway Station

• Sub-ways for entry and exit from the platform to avoid congestion on platform and other station areas. • Six subways - three for in-coming passengers, one for out going passengers and two as service tunnels. All the

passenger subways are inter-connected at both ends with wide passage. • The subways for incoming passengers are provided at equi-distant so as to cover entire platform. One subway of

about 10 metre width is proposed for out going passengers connecting the subway dispersal well to departure lounge through arrival lounge.

• For entering the subways from platform, ramps as well as escalator/conveyor belt are provided .

Arrival Lounge of the Railway Station

• In coming passengers (i.e. passengers de-boarding the train) will follow the path of subways to get out of

station area either through arrival lounge or subway/dispersal well followed by outlet to parking, subway

to NER, subway to Bus Stands etc.

• Facilities like cloak room, conference room, rest rooms, communication centre, tourist information centre,

ATM, Juice/Tea/Coffee Centre, food stall etc are planned in arrival lounge.

• Sub-way dispersal well is the junction of all sub-ways. • Booking window, Enquiry booths/Communication Centre/May I help you counter, Juice Corner and Tea/

Coffee Corner, ATM, Storage space for brake mounted Trolleys etc.

• Exit to different parking is provided from subway dispersal well.

dropping the passengers.

• Separate lanes for entry of four wheeler traffic (car and taxi), two & three wheelers traffic and lane for

rickshaws.

• Direct access to portico of station for VIPs.

• For to & fro movement of vehicles in the parking zone and for entry and exit from parking lots a service

road within Railway land.

• For two wheelers and three wheelers surface parking on east end to serve the passengers of NR. • The capacity for parking of two wheelers - 480 nos. approx. on east side. • For three wheelers surface parking - 530 nos. vehicles approx on east side . • Earmarking space for parking of heavy vehicles like tourist buses, army vehicles etc.
