About Jean Monnet Module Erasmus Plus:
Jean Monnet Activities are designed to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of
European Union studies worldwide. The activities also foster the dialogue between the academic world
and policymakers, in particular with the aim of enhancing the governance of European Union (EU)
policies. Jawaharlal Nehru University Jean Monnet Modules titled ‘Institutions, Diversity and Change
in the European Union’ under the framework of Erasmus+ Program-Jean Monnet activities-2020, is a
project awarded to Dr Sheetal Sharma, Centre of European Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New
Delhi from 2020-2023 to promote research and innovation in social sciences and European Studies.

The School of Liberal Education, Galgotias University, has been established to understand how
societies function in local and global settings and learn about the forces and events shaping the world.
Galgotias School of Liberal Education lays the foundation for a multitude of career options, preparing
students to take their place as global citizens. The School of Liberal Education follows the TREE model

Jawaharlal Nehru University:
JNU is the foremost university in India and a world-renowned centre for teaching and research. Ranked
number one in India by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a Grade Point
of 3.91 (on a scale of 4), JNU was ranked no three among all universities in India by the National
Institutional Ranking Framework, Government of India, in 2016 and no 2 in 2017. JNU also received

Concept Note: Faculty Development Programme
The growth and development of a variety of “sciences” have spurted new domains that
percolated across conventional disciplinary boundaries reconfiguring their landscape and
politics. Strikingly, cognitive and evolutionary sciences as well big-data and method-driven
approaches stake out new claims to understand society. As a result, social sciences have come
under increasing pressure to reorient themselves and undertake a critical inquiry into the
epistemologies and practices, their institutionalisation, and methods. The theme of the FDP
explores emerging trends, and perspectives in the social sciences ensued in response to crises,
debates and competing philosophies, epistemologies, and methodologies. The subthemes
enumerated below are some of the topics deemed of particular relevance. The current FDP is
an effort to enrich the Young Faculties & Research scholars in social science on research
methodology. The workshop cum FDP is expected to cover the basics of research
methodology, focusing on theoretical and practical inputs, and more so focusing on diverse
praxis of theoretical intervention.

Expected Outcome:
After successful completion of the online course, the participants will:

Prof. Santishree Pandit, Department of Politics and Public Administration, University of
Pune.
Dr. Santishree is the Professor in the Department of Politics and
Public Administration, University of Pune. Having more than 30
years of teaching experience, she completed her Doctoral in
International Relations and Post- doctoral studies in Peace and
Conflict studies from Uppsala University, Sweden. During her
extraordinary Journey, she served as a member of Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports, Govt. Of India; member of Management Council
of National Committee on Reconciliation; Board of Studies in
Political Science, Goa University; Governing council member in
Global India Foundation, Member for UGC Committee on Higher
Education and Indicators of XI Plan and many more. She also has been the executive committee
member of Radical Humanist Association and Centre for Social and Human Values, USA. As
an academician, she has extensively published several research papers in national and
international journals: 97 in various National; International Journals and more than 25 chapters
in Edited Books. She is the sole author of books entitled ‘Parliament and Foreign Policy in
India’; ‘Restructuring Environmental governance in Asia-Ethics and Policy’; ‘Human security
in India- Insecurity in the age of conflict’.
Keynote Speaker:
Professor. Hélène Ducros, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Hélène Ducros (Juris Doctor and PhD, University of North
Carolina Chapel Hill) has taught International studies at various
universities in North Carolina. She is Chair of research and
pedagogy at EuropeNow (Council for European Studies, Columbia
University) and Lead Editor for the joint writing program
organized by CES and the World Society Foundation (Zurich,
Switzerland). Hélène is a human geographer with a broad spectrum
of interests in the human-environment nexus. Her research has
focused on the concepts of “place” and heritage-making in a
globalized world. She studies lived space, place-making, attachment to place and landscape
change and perception. As a post-doc, she participated in an international research project
comparing processes of gentrification in the US, France, and the UK. She has been funded by
the National Science Foundation and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and
has published in the Journal of Place Management and Development, Norois, the Journal of
Sustainable Tourism, JurisArt, and the Island Studies Journal. Book chapters were included in
The Routledge Handbook of Place (2020), Explorations in Place Attachment (2018), The
Routledge International Handbook of Walking (2017), and Rural Tourism: An International
Perspective (2014). Her latest book (co-edited), Justice in Climate Action Planning, was
published by SpringerNature (2022). Hélène has also held professional positions
administrating international academic programs, study abroad, and service learning programs.

Studies, SIS, JNU
Co-ordinator for “Erasmus+ Program-Jean Monnet activities-2020”

She is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for European Studies,,
Jawaharlal Nehru University. Before joining JNU, she was a Lecturer at the Institute of Technology
and Management, Gurgaon, India. She taught the emergence of Sociological Theory in Europe and
Methodology of Social Sciences as the curriculum of the degree program of the London School of
Economics and Political Science (LSE). Dr Sharma holds a BA (Hon.) in Sociology from the University
of Delhi and holds a post-graduate and doctoral degree in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of
Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr Sharma avidly follows methodological
and theoretical trends in Social Sciences and International Relations. She has completed Video Lecture
Series in Sociology for CIET, NCERT's project NROER (National Repository for Educational
Resources and Training). She has also been invited as a discussant on a number of programs on radio

Mr Suneel Galgotia was born in a family that had great passion for books.
The family started a small retail bookstore in Connaught Place, New Delhi
in the 1930’s to showcase their interests in books and reading. Mr. Suneel
Galgotia enoumously got influenced by his family. He got his primary and
secondary education from St. Columba’s School, New Delhi. His college
education was from Shri Ram College of Commerce. Delhi University.
Starting out as an entrepreneur, Mr. Suneel Galgotia has outpaced most of
his contemporaries. With the fast changing technology and innovative
landscape, he founded the Galgotias Institute of Management &
Technology (GIMT) in 2000. After successful establishment of GIMT,
Mr Galgotia founded Galgotias University in 2011 and only with 40 students, the University now
exceeding more than 13000 students in total studying across discipines.

Prof. Dr. Preeti Bajaj.
Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Bajaj is the Vice Chancellor at Galgotias
University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Having 28 years of
experience, she has worked as Director of G. H. Raisoni College of
Engineering, Nagpur. Before joining Galgotias University. She has
been instrumental in design and development of ITS systems in
public and private sectors like toll collection/toll audit /highway
traffic management system and AITS by applying Soft/hybrid
Computing, Intelligent Systems & Applications of Fuzzy logic in
ITS. She is also engaged in research in by Fellow- Institute of
Engineers, Fellow IETE, Senior Member-IEEE, LM-ISTE, and LM-
CSI. She currently holds Vice Chair Awards-IEEE of Indian Council, Member MGA Awards and
Recognition committee, founder Chair of Nagpur Subsection. She is an Ex-Member-GC, National

Prof. Dhruv Raina, Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi.
Prof. Dhruv Raina is a philosopher and historian of science from India.
He studied physics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and
received his PhD in the philosophy of science from Göteborg University.
His research has focused upon the politics and cultures of scientific
knowledge in South Asia. In 2002 he was appointed Associate Professor at
Jawaharlal Nehru University and had been a professor since 2004. He
teaches history and philosophy of sciences as well education. In 2007 he
was a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies, Berlin
(Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin), and in 2010, he became first incumbent
of Heinrich Zimmer Chair for Intellectual History and Indian Philosophy.
He has also served as the honorary director of the Northern regional Centre of the ICSSR.

Prof. Savyasaachi, Department of Sociology, Jamia Milia Islamia University.
Prof. Savyasachi is a Professor in the Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia
Islamia, New Delhi. He has more than 29 years of teaching experience in
academia. His edited books ‘Between the Sky and the Earth’, ‘Tribal Forest-
Dwellers and Self-Rule-the Constituent Assembly Debates on the 5th and 6th
Schedules’ are exemplary wotk in social sciences. He has published more than
15 research articles and has communicated approx. Seventy lectures in
National and International conferences, seminars and workshops. He is also
positioned as Coordinator Curriculum revision committee at the Department
of Sociology Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and Member Board of
Management Committee Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict
resolution Jamia Millia Islamia. He worked as a core member of National Focus Group on Problems of

Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Children constituted by the National Council of Education
Research and Training New Delhi; Sociology Curriculum for Class XI and XII NCERT; Committee

4. Conducting a Critical Policy Ethnography: Why and How?
Dr Preeti Raghunath, Lecturer, Monash University, Malaysia.
Preeti Raghunath is a Lecturer (Communication and Media Studies) at the
School of Arts and Social Sciences, Monash University, Malaysia. She is
the author of ‘Community Radio Policies in South Asia: A Deliberative
Policy Ecology Approach’, published by Palgrave Macmillan, in 2020. As
such, her work has focused on the interlinkages between media
technologies and associated policies and their making, historically and in
present times, placing people at the centre. She currently serves as a Vice-
Chair of the Global Media Policy Working Group of the International
Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). Before
joining academia, she worked in India's media and communication industry.
5. “The Benefits of Effective Blueprinting in Academic Writing.”
Dr. Anurima Chanda (Ph.D, JNU), Department of English, Birsa Munda College, NBU
Dr Anurima is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the English
Department of English, Birsa Munda College, NBU. Before this, she
worked at the Centre for Writing and Communication, Ashoka University,
working closely with ESL students. She completed her PhD in Indian
English Children’s Literature from JNU. She was a pre-doctoral DAAD
fellow at the University of Würzburg, Germany. Apart from being a
literary translator, she also writes for children n n and has been published
with Scholastic and DK, among others.

6. Research Methodology in International Relations
Dr. S.Shaji, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad.
Dr. S.Shaji is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science,
University of Hyderabad. Before joining the university, he was an Assistant
Professor with the Centre for Multi-Disciplinary Development Research
(CMDR), an ICSSR Institute at Dharwad, Karnataka, a consultant to UNICEF
and Administrative Staff College India (ASCI), Hyderabad. Dr Shaji was invited
as a Guest Professor to the Institute of Political and Social Studies, University of
Wurzburg, Germany (April-June, 2012 and November-December 2014). He was
a SUSI Foreign Policy fellow at Bard College, New York, in June-August 2013.
He has also presented research papers in International Seminars and Conferences, such as the South
African Association of Political Studies (SAAPS) in Stellenbosch in 2010. Dr Shaji was Deputy
Coordinator, Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS), Department of Political Science and the Coordinator
of Study in India Programme (SIP), University of Hyderabad. As part of his assignment at SIP, he has
been designing and conducting customized courses on Contemporary India for participants from
Universities in the United States and Nordic countries since 2012. His research interest in International
Relations includes India’s relations with developing states, especially from the Afro-Asian region,
Technology Transfer, Foreign Policy of Developing States. He is currently part of an International
Project at the University of Hyderabad on ‘Internationalization and Virtual Exchange: Borderless
between EU and Asian Countries’, Erasmus+ CBHE, funded by European Union.

Prof. Sabina Alam, Jamia Milia Islamia University.
Prof Sabiha Alam holds a Masters and a Doctorate in
Environmental Sciences from Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada
University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. Her areas of research
and teaching include Environment and Sustainable Development
in South Asia, Central Asia and Africa, International
Environmental Governance, Environment and International
Relations, Research Methodology in Social Sciences and Area
Studies and Ocean Science and Technology. Her publications in
national and international journals and books cover aspects of
freshwater and marine pollution, sustainable development, climate
change and biodiversity governance, international trade in hazardous wastes, technology
transfer in developing countries, issues of global environmental governance, gender and
environment, environmental refugees and regional environmental concerns in the developing
world. She has participated and presented papers in national and international conferences and
workshops, including the Conference of Parties (COPs) of the Biodiversity Convention. She
has also organised seminars on research methodology, national conferences on environment
and sustainable development and panel discussions within the aegis of the COPs of the
Biodiversity Convention. She is a member of scientific societies such as the Society of Indian
Ocean Studies, Society for Ocean Scientists and Technologists, Pacific Congress on Marine
Science and Technology (PACON) International, and Greenpeace.

Dr Shailesh Kumar Kaushal, Assistant Professor, University of Lucknow.
Dr Shailesh Kaushal is an Assistant Professor at the Department of
Business Administration, University of Lucknow. His area of
specialization is Marketing Management, Statistics, Research
Methodology and Operations Research. He has a high proficiency in
statistical software such as SPSS, AMOS, Process Macro, SmartPLS,
EViews, and R software.

Dr Amit Kumar Arora, Associate Professor, KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR.
Dr Amit Kumar Arora is currently working as Associate Professor-
Research in KIET School of Management, KIET Group of Institutions,
Delhi-NCR. He is an Associate Member of Cost and Management
Accountants (ACMA), UGC-NET, M.B.A (Finance), M.Com, M.A.
(Eco.), PhD. He has more than 16 Years of academic and corporate
experience. His areas of interest includes Costing, Accountancy, Finance
and Economics. He is the author of three books titled Management of
Working Capital, Financial Management and Economics for Managers. He

focueses on research in Social Sciences. His area of research includes Sociology of

Dr. Manasi Sinha (Ph.D, JNU), Associate Professor, Political Science, School of Liberal Education
She is presently working as an Associate Professor and Programme Chair for the
Division of Political Science, in School of Liberal Education, Galgotias
University. She is a member in the editorial board at EuropeNow (Council for
European Studies, Columbia University). She has been a recipient of ‘IBIES
Erasmus Mundas Fellowship for contributing to higher research in Indo-European
studies in the University of Warsaw, Poland. Since July 2018, she has been
teaching Political Science (International Relations) and Gender Studies to
undergraduate/postgraduate and Ph.D research scholars in Galgotias University.
Her major research areas include political theory, Indian society and politics,
Gender studies, Global Politics & IR (Theories & Issues), Culture, Politics and Society in Europe,
Gender and Politics of Violence (India/Sweden/Europe). Her academic work has been regularly
published in EuropeNow, Modern Diplomacy, South Asia Network, Peer Reviewed Journals and books
across National and International Platforms. Her latest book (edited), Decade of Power Politics,
published by KW Publishers (2022) and Socio-political landscape in India’s Democracy: Sailing or
Sinking?, Disha International Publications (2022), New Delhi.

Dr. Pratyush Bibhakar (Ph.D, JNU), Assistant Professor, Sociology, School of Liberal Education
He is currently associated with Department of Sociology, Galgotias
University, (U.P) as an Assistant Professor. He holds a multidisciplinary
academic background with a Ph.D on ‘Politics through art: A study of
architecture, sculpture and political posters in Russia, 1905-2005’ from
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and possesses dual M.A Degree in
Sociology and Russian Language, Literature & Culture. His academic
interests include areas like art & polity, political symbology, Gender and
Sexuality, Social Exclusion and marginalization, education and social justice etc. He has been
contributing to various online/offline peer reviewed journals and other online news media
platforms.
Mr. Waseem Baba (Ph.D., Delhi School of Economics), Assistant Professor, Sociology, School of
Liberal Education
He is presently working as an Assistant Professor of Sociology in School of
Liberal Education; Galgotias University. His major area of research
involves: Anthropology of medicine, Psychoanalysis and Science
technology studies. Some of his research has been published in peer
reviewed and international journals. He has presented papers as well in
various national and International Conferences.

Dr. Apeksha (Ph.D. MNIT, Jaipur), Assistant Professor, English, School of Liberal Education
She is presently working as an Assistant Professor of English in School
of Liberal Education; Galgotias University. Her major area research
includes British Drama, Theatre, Gender Studies, Postcolonial
Literatures, Literary and Culture Theory etc. She has authored the book
entitled John Whiting: The Agony of the Absurd by KD Publishers. She
is also a member of Global Alliance of Justice Education USA and part
of the Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Legal and
Social Studies; LENSA: The Journal of Languages, Literature and
Cultural Studies, Indonesia and also Advisory Board Member of Taran-Awan Journal of
Educational Research and Technology Management, Tanauan Campus, Tanauan, Leyte,
Philippine. She is an Advisor of website for law and social science students at
www.knowledgesteez.com. She has successfully published more than 29 articles in
International & National journals including UGC- Care and SCOPUS and also issued 12
articles in peer-reviewed book as chapters and presented papers in various International
Conferences held in Turkey, Afghanistan, Russia and Romania etc.
Dr. Ranju Lal (Ph.D, IIT Dhanbad), Assistant Professor, Psychology, School of Liberal Education
She is currently teaching as an Assistant Professor, Galgotias
Univeristy. Having PhD from IIT-ISM Dhanbad, UGC – NET
qualified in Psychology, she did her MA in Psychology securing Merit
of First Class Second at TilkaManjhi Bhagalpur University and having
a PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications).
Research area of her interest is Stress among youth, especially students.
She is having total teaching experience of 9 years. She has taught
subjects i.e., General psychology, Cognitive Psychology,
Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Mental Measurement, Clinical
Psychology, Research Methodology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Human
Behaviour, Human Values and Professional Ethics. She has guided several MBA Dissertations,
organized workshop on SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), summer and winter
schools on Computer Applications. Her research publication includes two research papers in
SCOPUS indexed Journal, three in different International Journals and two in separate National
Journals. She is an Editorial Board Member in AR Publications, Delhi and Reviewer in JCDR
(Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research).
Dr. Ishrat Jahan (Ph.D, AMU), Assitant Professor, Economics, School of Liberal Education
Dr. Ishrat Jahan is presently working as an assistant professor of economics
in School of Liberal Education, Galgotias University, greater Noida. She has
done her Doctorate from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. She worked as
a visiting faculty in Institute of information and technology, Dwarka, New
Delhi. She also taught as a Guest faculty in Jamia Millia Islamia. Her areas of
interest are Macro Economics, Micro Economics, Monetary Economics and
Financial institutions and Markets.
