100 Silent Strider

Kinfolk

“Get together like brothers, but work together like strangers.”

— Arab Proverb

IntroductionDangerous things lurk in the night, but few of them are as deadly as the garou of the Silent Striders. Tracing their lineage to the ancient empire of Egypt, they are known as the messengers of the nation, but they are so much more than that. Banished from their homeland by an ancient curse, and cut off from their ancestors, the Silent Striders wander the world, searching for ways they can once again return home.

The tribe’s kinfolk share this same wanderlust, along with Owl’s quiet danger. Though many of them mind hostels and hotels, bars and restaurants, others embrace professions that keep them untethered from permanent communities and homes. While they may be seen as taciturn lone wolves by outsiders, when the tribe howls, its kin come from seemingly nowhere to provide much-

needed aid. And when the task is done, they vanish back into the wind once more.

100 Silent Strider Kinfolk1. Henry LaRoque: Henry always heard adventure calling his name, and it was a miracle he stayed in his small Alabama town long enough to finish high school. He was so eager to kick its dust from his heels that he still had his gown on when he signed up for the US Navy. Five years later, Henry has seen more of the world than he ever could have dreamed, and he’s seen the bigger picture of the Wyrm’s spread. While he’s not sure that every ship in the fleet would be enough to put the Spiral Dancers down, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be willing to try if he got the chance to unload the big guns at those raving mad bastards.

2. Isis Dyer: A cabaret performer with wide hips and dark eyes, Isis gave up even having a pretense of a home a long time ago. Constantly on the move from one city to another, she’ll stay somewhere for a few weeks, or even a season, hitting the road when the show wraps and a new act calls her name. She’s developed quite a devoted following over the years, though, as well as a loving network of partners who

are more than happy to share her time before she has to pick up and move on once more.

3. Richard Bhandari: The child of a mixed marriage, Richard drives a cab in London. While people often ask if he doesn’t want more from life, all he can give them is a wry smile, and a shrug of his shoulders. He could never truly explain to them the excitement of his city, or how she always seems to have fresh secrets to show him even after ten years behind the wheel. That knowledge, as well as his ability to drive fast without asking too many questions, has been a great boon to the tribe on more than one occasion.

4. Sobek’s Tears: A troublesome wolf, Sobek’s Tears has an uncanny ability to fake contrition. Her wide eyes and pathetic mewling doesn’t make her less dangerous, however, and more than one opponent who’s leaned close to gloat has felt her teeth around their throats before the world went dark around them. While a dishonorable way of fighting, Sobek’s Tears has never overly concerned herself with the opinions of dead people.

5. Millie Uger: Short, dark, and with a thick head of frizzy hair, Millie is a vagabond trucker willing to take almost any load anywhere it needs to go. Born and raised in Saskechewan, Canada, she’s even done a stint as one of the infamous ice road truckers. While that was certainly an experience, Millie much prefers to keep asphalt under her tires these days if she can manage it.

6. Cleopatra Daniels: A daredevil since the day she learned to walk, Cleopatra has made it her business to uncover every sight in the dark corners of the earth that’s worth taking a look at. A mountain climber, pilot, skydiver, and adrenaline connoisseur, she’s never met a risky proposition she didn’t like. She’s even come face to face with a vampire, and lived to tell the tale, though she didn’t escape that particular encounter without a few scars to show for it. Scars she’s often invited to bare in the firelight of moots, when tales of valor and victory against the undead are being shared.

7. Amoldo Del Bosque: Long and tanned, Amoldo’s true passion is for what lies beneath the waves. An accomplished sailor and SCUBA diver, Amoldo has gone quite far from the shores of his native Spain in pursuit of his treasures and mysteries. While he started off dragging the Mediterranean along the North African coast, Amoldo he quickly found that his unique specialties could be used for less academic pursuits. He’s led several raids into Egypt itself to strike at the servants of the Wyrm, only to vanish on the morning tide with the pack who accompanied him.

8. Adri Hartman: Adri’s family has had to move often over the generations. First from Germany, when hatred against Jewish people first began fomenting, and then from Russia when Stalin’s purges began in earnest. America was safer for them, but it was by no means a safe place. With both family and “family” all over the country, though, Adri is no stranger to running when she smells danger in the air. Like all her kin, though, she has teeth… something more than one chest-thumping bully has found before limping away from her.

9. Martin Fairchilde: Born with a wanderlust bigger than County Down could contain, Martin is always up for being somewhere other than where he is. He’s backpacked across the moors, worked fishing boats into Scandinavia, walked the old Roman roads along the Mediterranean coast, and made it back to tell the tale of where he’d been, and what he’d seen. While he has the rawboned face and dark eyes brought long ago from the deserts of the Pharaohs, many in the tribe say he carries Ireland’s luck in his back pocket. How else could he manage to find people of the nation wherever his steps lead, always turning up just when he could use a hand?

10. Rashida Najjar: Though the Silent Striders are known for traveling, Rashida is not one for walking down dusty roads, and riding in cramped trains; she insists on traveling in style. An heiress to oil fields, she jet sets around the world looking for new locations to invest her family’s fortunes. With fossil fuels being less viable every day, she’s moving her family’s funds into solar, wind, and hydroelectric power on a huge scale. The extra benefit of so many projects is that no one noticed a few more drifters in the area, or an extra member or two in Rashida’s entourage. Even if they peel off to handle business for the tribe once her jet has touched down, and they’ve cleared customs.

11. Dune Stalker: A shadow that haunts the edges of the badlands at the fringe of the desert, Dune Stalker is a silent sentry. Always watching for members of the nation, or for Wyrm-tainted servitors, the only thing faster than this sleek black beast is the wind itself. Though he’s stood this vigil for many years, no cub has yet managed to outrun him when they challenge for the right to take over his long watch.Sam
