Brucellosis, which is one of the most common zoo-notic diseases in the world caused by the Brucella bacteria, is a public health problem and a cause of economic loss in developing countries. Bacteria are transmitted to humans through contact with the fluids of infected animals or food products obtained from these animals. The project goal is to actively produce and utilize Propolis, which is not used in Cy-prus, in order to protect the animals from bacteria, as well as protecting human health, contributing to the development of the agriculture and livestock sectors. Propolis is an effective product against microorgan-isms, many studies have been carried out on the de-velopment of the usage areas of this product, which has been used since ancient times, but that a study has been initiated on animal health for the first time.

Energy Sustainability of Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC)Landfill Leachate Treatment and PowerGenerationinSingleChamberSystemswithBiocathode

ProjectManager:Assoc.Prof.Dr.HaticeERKURT The aim of this project is to produce a MFC reactor that will be self-sustaining in term of the power gen-erated and treatment of leachate in a pilot scale. The laboratory scale usage of MFC have proved suc-cessful in treating wastewater and generate electrici-ty and this project will look at some other parameter that can produce enough power for North Cyprus in a large scale with the use of bio-cathode and Nafion as membrane material.The objective of this project is to produce a less expensive electricity that can power the MFC and at the same time treat the leachate with a low Energy Payback Time (EPT), and generate elec-tricity for the community.The project will utilize the potential electric power that can be generated from the Gungor Municipality wastewater treatment plant, thereby reducing the cost of running the wastewater treatment plant.

SafeBehavior-Accident-FreeLife ProjectManager:Asst.Prof.Dr.GürcanÖZHAN Safe Behavior - Accident Free Life Project has been de-veloped to prevent traffic accidents that occur every year in the TRNC due to reasons such as speed, use of phones while driving, drunken or careless driving and neglicence about traffic rules. The project aims to create awareness of safe behavior for primary, sec-ondary and high school students and teachers against preventable risks that cause traffic accidents. Development of Alternative Products with our Coun-try’s Propolis, in the fight against Brusellosis, one of the Basic Problems of our Livestock Sector.

Student engagement in learning and teaching under-pins deep, transformational learning and enables the attainment of skills, thus enhancing the employability of our students. Active engagement of students will help us to get feedback from our students, helping us to develop and improve our academic activities. In this project, we aim to support and improve student engagement with digital technologies. It has been proven that such technologies have big influence on student engagement and motivation since they fa-cilitate access to learning resources as well as com-munication and collaboration.This project has three phases:1. Training instructors on effective classroom manage-ment including course management to support and increase student engagement in blended learning en-vironments.2. Development and application of various blended learning environments based on the training received to encourage student engagement. 3. Analysis of course data, instructor and student learning analytics to measure the engagement.
