Today is the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and so we can celebrate that we all belong to the holy family of God which makes us brothers and sisters to each other. At Christmas this year, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring the joy and hope to our “brothers and sisters” who are poor by assisting families with food and financial help for utility and rent bills. Thank you! ¡Gracias!

THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY & JOSEPH
Can you believe it’s mid-December, Advent is halfway over and Christmas is right around the corner?!?
I am imagining you feel like I do- there are not enough hours in the day! Yet, for me, its also a most exciting time of the year…I Love Christmas! Not just the Christmas lights and sparkle everywhere, but the special warm feeling I feel when going to church during advent, and seeing the visual aides of the Advent wreath, with the additional candle being lit each week, the noticeable changes in the interior décor, building toward something special coming soon; in this case, the celebration of the Birth of Christ.
Notice that not all things are the same from year to year. We have traditions, but there are many variations and expressions of these traditions. This year, we do not have the nativity at the front by the altar.
Instead, the Liturgy committee, along with Art and Envi-ronment of Altar Society, have moved it to the entry. It is not complete; no finished look, no flowers, not all figures;
We are being told to anticipate something is coming. No one can miss seeing the little details as they enter. Sometimes people are in the back area of the pews, and never really get as far as the altar area except at communion, and that moment is not long enough for contemplation. Now, you can linger as long as you like, and contemplate. We also will not see a separate nativity in the Chapel. (Only one baby was born, so only one creche, as the Chapel is part of the church body at this time.)
Have you noticed the pregnant Mary and Joseph guiding the donkey, traveling around the church, trying to find someplace to stay?
On behalf of the Pastoral Council we wish everyone a blessed Christmas season, Bea Jarzombek, President
Pastoral Council Corner
