Spanish Worship Service Today, dur ing the 10:30 worship service, there will be a Spanish service in the Chapel. There will be no Spanish translation for the service in the Sanctuary. This Spanish service will take place the last Sunday of each month.

Today Is The Last Sunday For The Auditorium Live Stream Given recently revised CDC guidelines and the diminished need for social distancing, this will be the last day we offer the distanced/masked C.A.A. worship option. Starting next week, if you still want space between you and the next person, try the side sections of the sanctuary.

“Preaching On The Song in most congregational settings is difficult.” So says one commentary on the Song of Songs. Well, yes. Some are too young for its message (which is why we provide children’s church today). Some will find its message irrelevant (which is why we urge you to pray for the preacher and your fellow-listeners even if today’s text doesn’t seem to apply to you directly). But Song of Songs is part of God’s inspired word and needs to be heard and heeded.

What If The Sermon’s Not For Me? Now and then a sermon or ser ies may not seem particularly relevant to you, at least not in your present stage of life. What do you do when that’s the case? Don’t absent yourself from worship! There’s more to the weekly gathering of God’s people than the sermon. And you can pray while the preacher preaches that God will bring the message home to the hearts of those who do need it – your brothers and sisters in the family of God.

We’re recording video! Our media specialist, Steven Angelos, will be taking some video recordings during the worship service today to be used as part of a promotional video for our church website. If you are uncomfortable with being on video, we would ask you to sit either towards the back on the far left or right sides of the floor, or in the balcony.

Memorial Day Service Memor ial Park, 25th street and Sher idan Rd. Zion. Remember those who have given their lives for the freedoms we enjoy in the great country. Band begins at 10:00 and the service starts at 10:30.

The Christian Encounters Transgenderism On June 13 our ABFs will meet together in the Christian Arts Auditorium for a session on this strange new cultural phenomenon.

The Song of Songs puzzles many readers: its imagery is foreign to us, its structure uncertain. Some think they discern a coherent narrative; others (and Pastor Ken agrees with this analysis) view the Song as a collection of poems held together by themes, key words, and the main characters.

One author offers this helpful analogy: the Song is more like the musicals “Cats” or “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” than “Les Miserables.”

One of the themes that unifies the book is today’s key line, “Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.”

Our Next All-Church Prayer Time will be Sunday evening, June 13 at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall. In these troubled times, God’s people need to pray. Join us in seeking God’s face for our church, our community, nation, and world.

Children's Church Our sermon series Mother’s Day through Father’s Day, “Sex for the Glory of God,” may be a bit much for children. Children will sit with their parents at the start of the service. Before the sermon each week in this series we’ll excuse children ages 4-year through grade 6 for age-appropriate teaching (also related to God’s design for families). Following the worship service, parents, please pick up their children in the in the following locations: 4th, 5th & 6th grade - in room 1 (Children's Wing) 1st - 3rd grade - in room 4 (Children’s Wing) 4 & 5-year old - in their SS classroom (Children's Wing) (Nursery provided as usual for infants through age 3.)

Pastor Ken’s Book Is Finally Out Many in our church family have known that How to Preach the Psalms has been cooking for several years. Although it’s intended primarily for those who preach this part of God’s word, others in our church family might be interested in seeing the fruit of some of Ken’s writing leaves and in the process learn something about the emotions and imagery of biblical poems. For sale at the Book Nook in the lobby.

Summer Women's Ministry events are coming! Watch the bulletin for details.

Bible Study Ladies please join us for Bible study videos in the Parlor Friday mornings through Aug. 6. 9am - 11am. No workbook, no homework, just fellowship, a video, discussion, and prayer. Come for one or all or anything in between. We will not meet on holiday weekends.

Women’s Ministries Summer Social: Books & Beverages On Tuesday, June 15 at 6:00pm, join us on the Rose Garden patio outside of the sanctuary lobby. Bring a favorite book to share with us and a lawn chair. Is

it the best book you’ve ever read? Is there a book you’re reading now that is powerful for your season of life? It doesn’t have to be a serious book, but let’s keep it clean. We’ll take turns sharing, sip on some cool drinks and maybe you’ll come away with a few ideas for your book wish list. Contact Heather Stried at 847-571-0672 or [email protected] to RSVP for Books & Beverages. Future Summer Socials: July 20th and August TBD.

America The Beautiful Verse 1

O beautiful for spacious skies For amber waves of grain For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain America America God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea

Verse 2

O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness America America God mend thine every flaw Confirm thy soul in self control Thy liberty in law

Verse 3

O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife Who more than self their country loved And mercy more than life America America may God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness And every gain divine

Verse 4 O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears America America God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea
