U-Nat is incorporated into the surface of an anodized aluminium foil of 0.3 mm thickness. The thickness of the activated layer is approx. 6 µm. The activated foil is mounted into a holder.

The alpha surface em1ss1on rate was measured using a windowless proportional counter. The activity was determined by comparison with a reference source of the same construction.

Additional to the direct traceability to the PTB through the DKD this product satisfies the quality assurance requirements of USNRC Regulatory Guide 4.15 Revision 1, February 1979, for achieving NIST traceability through Amersham's participation in the USCEA/NIST Measurements Assurance Program of the Nuclear Power Industry.

The stated values of overall uncertainty are according to IC RU-Report 12 the linear sum of the uncertainty attributable to random and systematic errors for a confidence level of 99. 7 %.

At the time of calibration no radioactive impurities were detected.

The content of Natural-Uranium is 1.66 mg ± 15 %.
