Barcelona is bouncing back and recovering from a difficult period caused by the global pandemic. In order to relaunch the economy, bring cohesion to society and realise our full potential, we would love to have the collaboration of everyone in the city: the people who have been here their entire lives, those who have been here for a shorter time and newcomers from other countries. The city is a melting pot that attracts a multitude of people from all over the world to work, set up their businesses, study or carry out their life projects here. And we want Barcelona to retain its open personality and remain creative and modern, open to dialogue and, above all, human and welcoming. This is why Barcelona International Community Day is back: Back to (net)work! This event is the yearly meeting point for the city’s international talent, an opportunity to welcome, help settle and make connections between the business world and the entire international community, to strengthen ties and launch new ideas and projects that will thrive in the Barcelona of the future.
This year will see the seventh edition of this fair, the aim of which is to enable anyone wishing to be part of Barcelona to share their knowledge and experiences, making new contacts with companies, associations, schools, clubs and all the speakers and experts. Barcelona International Community Day is above all a place in which to create new energy and opportunities for Barcelona, pooling together both local and international talent. In short, we want international talent to be one of the great driving forces behind the reactivation of Barcelona, and this is why the City Council is making a firm commitment in this direction. You are encouraged to take part in the many activities, workshops, debates and learning and leisure events that will be available. But, above all, I want you to know that your decision to carry out your life project in our city means that you are already Barcelonians and are now at the core of everything that Barcelona has to offer. See you there!

DESCRIPTION Dry Town is a group of English, Irish and Israeli artists based in Barcelona and united by a common love for the music of yesteryear and traditional songs. In their work you can find a mixture of folk, gospel, rock and classical music that gives clues to the roots of the musicians themselves and their musical journeys. The name “Dry Town” is a literal translation of “Poble Sec”, a neighbourhood of the city that, in times of industrialization, was already struggling to maintain its natural resources. The group’s songs are identified with this story. In addition, it was on a rooftop in the neighbourhood where they performed their first concert, on a hot summer night.

As an entrepreneur, what was your best experience when you arrived in Barcelona? The best experience I’ve had in my new entrepreneurial adventure was the support from Barcelona... One of the greatest supports was Barcelona Activa. First, in all the aspects involved in setting up a company, and the second support was on how to study the market.
What struck you most about the city when you set up?The ease of movement, you can use tram, bus, metro... It was great to walk around the city, discover the surroundings, we were impressed.
What do you think about the locals?I have many Catalan friends, although the first year it was very difficult for them to open up to me, so now I compare them to oysters (smiles), it’s very difficult for them to open up, but when they know you and you trust them they are open, friendly and help you.
Othmane MouhssineMoroccoPartner and Ambassador for Spain at Digi-Sports Group

What did you like about Barcelona the first time you visited? It was love at first sight, I arrived for the first time in 1999... I was struck by the vibe of the city, it was like a tingle in the air, it was so different.
What does Barcelona have to offer?Barcelona has a lot to offer, and it is always one of the top five cities in the world. Barcelona is also a city that welcomes entrepreneurs and companies and attracts international talent.
What is your favourite place in the city?My favourite place in the city has changed over the years. Now I would say Barcelona as a whole.

What did your arrival in Barcelona represent? In terms of professional development, my arrival in Barcelona was a turning point. I have also been able to create a great network of friends and colleagues who have helped me to explore new opportunities.
What do you value most when choosing a place to live? When it comes to choosing a place to live, walking is important to me. I love to walk, to go shopping on foot, by bike or by public transport. I can’t imagine going back to living in a city where you spend most of your time in the car.
What advice would you give to someone who has just arrived in order to get to know people? When you arrive in Barcelona, the best way to meet people is to do activities. I met my friends at networking meetings, you can sign up for group sports, go to classes, language classes are a good place to meet people.
Sam ZuckerUnited States of America Gastronomic and Lifestyle Photographer, Writer and Filmmaker, Chef and Travel Guide
From a professional point of view, which sector do you think is the strongest in Barcelona? Barcelona is becoming a technological centre in Western Europe, and that is very attractive. More and more technology companies, very good ones, are coming to Barcelona to set up in this city.
What is your favourite place in the city? One of my favourite places in Barcelona is the MNAC, the Museum of National Art of Catalonia. Why? Because I’m passionate about art and everything that relates to it.
Could you briefly define Barcelona? If I have to define Barcelona, I would like to do it in Russian: “счастливые люди”, which means “happy people”.

What was your first impression when you arrived in Barcelona? When I arrived in Barcelona, I was very surprised by its diversity. The LGTB neighbourhood, the Gothic quarter, which is an older neighbourhood, but at the same time it has a contrast with modernity, that made a big impact on me. Also, the contrast between the sea and the mountains.
What is your favourite place in Barcelona? My favourite place in Barcelona is Montjuïc. I really enjoy the process of walking to the top of the mountain. There is actually a good restaurant and good views of the sea.
What advice would you give to people who have just moved to the city? To encourage them to integrate into society, to enjoy a night in Gràcia, another day in the Gothic area, to try to meet more people, both local and international.
Lia WeiChinaSommelier
What is special about Barcelona?Barcelona is a very attractive city for foreigners, above all because of its quality of life, but also because it has excellent industrial, business and professional companies.
What is your favourite place in the city?My favourite place in Barcelona is Barcelona, that is to say, Barcelona is such a rich city, so full of pleasant spaces.... But there is a common thread in Barcelona, which from time to time I like to be accompanied by, which is the line of work that Gaudí himself did..
What would you recommend to people who have just arrived in Barcelona to improve their integration? I would recommend taking a Catalan course as soon as possible. I didn’t do it and I regret it. It certainly helps integration.
