Management Information System is LANbased application with various types ofUser Interface (UI) and Role basedApplication. The application offersvarious modules to support OfficeManagement, Academic Management,Admission Management, StudentManagement, Staff Management, PayrollManagement, Fees Management, AdminControl.

Part B

CRITERION I – CURRICULAR ASPECTS

1.1 – Curriculum Planning and Implementation

1.1.1 – Institution has the mechanism for well planned curriculum delivery and documentation. Explain in 500words

Academic calendar is prepared by IQAC every year based on the timeframeprovided by the university. Monthly planner is also prepared with all the

activities to be performed during the month. The college frames Timetable forall UG and PG courses based upon the papers (subjects) allotted including hoursfor Library, Digital Library, Seminar, Swayam, Mentor, tutorial, booster and

Remedial hours. Allotment of papers (subjects) to the Teachers done byrespective Head of the Department. Lesson Plan for each papers (subjects) isscheduled before the start of each semester by the respective teachers as perthe hours allotted. The teachers complete the papers (subjects) curriculumbased upon the syllabus and scheme provided by Bharathiar University. Thefaculty completes the syllabus within the schedule planned in the academic

calendar. Chalk and talk method, PPT classes using LCD projector are followed.Teachers also provide class notes and other related study materials, prescribedas reference by the university. Online quiz using the app Kahoot is used. Theassignments and seminars are given in Google Classroom and the students are

asked to upload the assignments and seminars through Google Classroom for whichmarks are assigned. Seminars from the syllabus are given to PG students as

microteaching. Animated videos are shown to understand the concept easily. TheLibrary has updated Textbooks of each discipline and also other resources suchas e-books, e-journals and journal copies of respective discipline. The collegehas registered under N- List, NPTEL and Delnet, e-resources for student access

for the updated knowledge of current innovations and research findings.Teachers document the records of all the classes, attendance in their

respective log books and the same is monitored by the Academic MonitoringCommittee (AMC). The departments conduct guest lecturers to widen knowledge inthe respective fields and Industrial Visits, MoU with Industries and field

trips are also arranged to bridge the gap between academics and industry. Twointernal Examinations and one model examinations are conducted each semester

and the results of the same are analyzed to assess the students and accordinglyremedial, booster classes are provided. After university examinations, Result

analysis of all the departments are prepared and future action if any forfurther improvement is followed. Feedback from the students on teachers are

received at the end of each semester and analyzed by the IQAC for any remedial(future) action.

The Students gives feedback on teaching of theory and practical courses taughtthem in each semester is recorded. The feedback system accommodating all thestakeholders includes Students, Teachers, Employers, Alumni and Parents to helpthe individuals and organization. Survey is based on a structured questionnaireframed and approved by the higher authority. The feedback received is analyzedby the head of the department and is forwarded to the Head of the Institution.The teachers are accordingly instructed to improve their performances.Feedbacks are collected from parents and alumni during Parents Teachers Meet(PTM) and Alumni meet conducted by the college. Suggestions and comments givenby the guardians and alumni’s are also taken into account for futuredevelopment.

2.5.2 – Reforms initiated on Continuous Internal Evaluation(CIE) system at the institutional level (250 words)

The College is affiliated to Bharathiar University and internal evaluationsystem is followed as prescribed by Bharathiar University. Continuous InternalEvaluation (CIE) involves internal test, model exam, assignment for UG and PGand seminar for PG. Centralized examination system is followed for Continuous

Internal Evaluation. Swayam is introduced for all UG 2 year students ascompulsory component for the completion of the course.

2.5.3 – Academic calendar prepared and adhered for conduct of Examination and other related matters (250words)

Academic Calendar is prepared well in advance before the beginning of the year.It comprises of the number of working days in each month, exam schedule for

internals and model exams, list of holidays, dates of celebrations of religiousfunctions and college functions. The College adheres to the schedule andproceeds accordingly for the smooth functioning of the academic related

matters.

The college library is available from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on all working days.The students are permitted inside the library only with their identity cards.

The books are indexed using OPAC system. The under graduate students areallowed to borrow two books and the post graduate students and research

scholars are allowed to borrow four books at a time. The journal collection andtheir back volumes are easily available. The magazines and newspaper are

located at strategic points to enable easy access of the same. The books aresecured using bar codes for issue and return .Through inflibnet online journalsare available for the users. The library advisory committee functions with thePrincipal as its chairman and Librarian as the Coordinator. It gives guidelinesand suggestions for the improvement of infrastructure and purchase of books,Reference books and journals. Proposal and the budget are prepared by the

librarian. The committee meets at regular intervals to review the maintenanceand utilization of the infrastructure facilities. The college has well

established system procedure for maintenance and utilization of availablesupporting facilities .The college has adequate number of lab facilities withall the required chemicals ,Glass wares and equipments which are maintained andserviced properly .All the stakeholders have equal opportunity to use those

facilities as per the policies of the institution. All the fixed equipments areregularly upgraded. The maintenance of infrastructure facilities are carriedout with the support of the Head of the department, Faculty in charge, Lab

assistant ,Lab programmer and Lab attender. Teaching aids: Teaching aids suchas Laptops, LCD projectors, Desktops, Printers WiFi Etc are maintained by thesystem administrator and a periodic audit is conducted to keep the devices inappropriate condition Garden: Garden is maintained by the Gardner. Regular

pruning and Watering of potted plants in the garden are done by the Gardener.Transportation system: The college buses are available from Coimbatore and

Palakkad districts for the students. Buses are maintained regularly to ensuregood condition and transport ready.

5.3.2 – Activity of Student Council & representation of students on academic & administrative bodies/committees ofthe institution (maximum 500 words)

Student Council members are selected from the student representatives byAcademic Council members. The selection process is based on their academic

performance, skills, previous year records, recommendation by the Head of thedepartment and students representatives etc. Chairman of the Student Council isselected from final year PG, ViceChairman from first year PG, Secretary from

final year UG, Treasurer from second year UG and Jointsecretary from first yearUG. Cultural Club Sports Club Secretaries are also selected depending upontheir performance. Student Council contribution is vital in all events

conducted in the Institution. They organize all National day celebrations suchas Independence Day, Republic Day etc. All the clubs and committee activitiesare supported by the Student Council. Other than academic activities, StudentCouncil organizes the Major cultural event known as “Credise” every year. TheCultural club is functioned with the major contribution of Student Council. Thehostel committee takes care of hostel menu preparation, room allocation and

hostel related issues. Sree Narayana Guru Youth Club has its own office bearersand members who take up the preaching of Sree Narayana Guru to the society.

6.1 – Institutional Vision and Leadership

Our college has a proficient internal coordinating and monitoring system.Participatory mechanisms are at work at every stage to ensure excellence

elevate. A faculty representing the teaching community acts as a member invarious committees and in the college. The members of Board of Management are

always available to guide the overall development of the institution. Themeetings are conducted regularly by the concerned head of the departments with

the faculty members to disseminate the responsibilities. The head of thedepartment allots the workload in discussion with the respective faculty basedon their area of specialisation. Budgets are prepared well in advance by the

various department heads for the forthcoming academic year keeping in view thecurricular and cocurricular activities of the department. An Academic planneris prepared in advance for the well functioning of all the activities of the

institution taking into consideration the academic and extracurricular aspectsof each and every department. Policies and plans of the institution are

monitored and evaluated by various committees involving the top management andthe faculty which are as follows: • IQAC: To enhance academic quality and adopt

quality sustenance measures as perceived by all stakeholders. To develop asystem for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academicand administrative performance of the institution. To promote measures for

institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalizationof quality culture and institutionalization of best practices • ISO: To updatemanuals based on ISO standard. To schedule and conduct internal audits andManagement Review Meeting (MRM) for each semester. To review the audit

observations and follow up corrective and preventive actions. To establish thequality policy and ensure quality objectives,customer and legal requirementsare met with. It also ensures resources needed for the QMS are available. •

AMC: To conduct Academic audit monthly to evaluate the progress. To ensure thesubject are handled as per the prescribed syllabus by the University for thatparticular batch .To ensure that the Syllabus is completed on time and theQuestion Papers are set accordingly. To ensure that all the Teaching staff

maintains a Logbook. Audit the records are maintained.

Examination and Evaluation Continuous Internal Assessment isconducted for all the students as per

the University Norms. A StandardProcedure is been set for the

preparation and display of timetable,submission of question paper to theexam cell and for the conduct ofExamination. Evaluation of answer

scripts is done within three days andprovide feedback to students on theirperformance. Remedial classes / test

are conducted for the students based ontheir performance. Advanced learners

are encouraged to follow more referencebooks and journals to gain an insightinto the topic. Discussion of answer

keys in the classroom is done.Assignments and Seminars on currenttopics or relevant topics to therespective subject are conducted.

Research and Development The Research Committee is formed withone representative faculty from eachdiscipline (Computer Science, SocialScience and Life Science) which is

headed by the Principal. The Researchand development cell of the College

disseminates information onconferences, funding assistance and

encourages the faculty in theirresearch publications. This Committee

meets at regular intervals to plan andmonitor the activities of the cell. Itmonitors the database of faculty and

scholars presentations and publicationsand organizes FDPs and workshops to

upgrade their research skills. Researchethics is formulated and circulatedamong all concerned faculty members.Minor Projects are being taken up byFaculty members and Students which isfunded by the management. Facultymembers are being encouraged to

register for Ph.D. The college providesfinancial assistance for publication in

journals and paper presentations inseminars and conferences

Teaching and Learning Adopted experiential learning throughgroup discussion, field basedassignment, industry immersion,

industrial visit etc., Increased usageof ICT in the area of teaching methods.Remedial classes for slow learners andBooster classes for advanced learnerswere conducted regularly. Each Facultyis assigned a set of students for whom

they act as Tutor/Mentor. Facultyfeedback analysis and follow up actions

are carried out semester wise.

Library, ICT and PhysicalInfrastructure / Instrumentation

To increase the usage of library and tomotivate the faculty and students thefollowing activities are initiated.Best Library User award was initiatedfor maximum utilization of library

resources. Enhancing the annual budgetfor library resources. Awareness

programme for students and faculty onthe usage of library was conducted. The

statistics regarding the usage oflibrary will be monitored and actions

were taken wherever necessary.Upgrading the knowledge by attending

faulty development programme on libraryrelated trends. Our college has

membership in the National DigitalLibrary. It has subscribed NLIST,DELNET and IEEE. Online journalsubscribed from Springer, Sage,

IndianJournals.com encouraged to useOpen Access Journals. Smart boards aremade available. Regular increase ofbooks in library are made depending

upon the needs.

Human Resource Management Orientation programmes to getacquainted with the work environment.

Training to take up ICT enabledteaching. FDPs and Workshops forquality enhancement. Financial

incentives for faculties for acquiringadditional qualification and

undertaking funded projects. Groupinsurance schemes for teaching and

nonteaching staff.

Industry Interaction / Collaboration MoUs are signed with industries for theenrichment of the students. Industrialvisits and field trips are arranged

regularly to offer practical exposure.Guest lectures and seminars are

conducted regularly for the students bySubject/Industry Experts.

Admission of Students Admissions are done as per theregulations and norms of the University

and State Government. Admissioncommittee has been formed to scrutinizethe process of admission. The admission

process springs during the month ofMarch/April and advertisements are

published in local, regional, nationaldailies and broadcasted in localchannels / radios. Students are

admitted based on the UGC reservationpolicy. The college ensures the rules,regulations and eligibility criteria

prescribed by the BharathiarUniversity. Information regarding

admission process, programmes offeredetc., are published in Newspaper,

websites and brochures. A Prospectusthat highlights the details of variousprogrammes offered by the college is

prepared every year prior to thecommencement of admissions. A help desk

is set up during admissions forproviding information regarding theadmission process and course details.

Curriculum Development The College is affiliated to BharathiarUniversity which frames the curriculum

and syllabi for the affiliatedcolleges. The curriculum developmentcell analyze the syllabus with theexternal resource persons includingindustrial representative and suggestthe changes to the Board of Studies inthe University. Online Swayam courses

were introduced for the allundergraduate students. Job OrientedCourses were conducted for studentslike Tally ERP 9,J2EE,Android and

communication English to bridge the gapbetween the academic and industry.

Finance and Accounts Transactions – Fee payments, Completeaccounting package is available whichis integrated to other modules like

admission, inventory and fees, whereverthe financial transactions are

explicit.

Student Admission and Support Admission module takes care of completestudent management, student personal

information, student extra –curricularactivities, attendance, internal marks,

assessment system, remarks andwarnings, Performance report.

Examination Examination module helps the examcoordinator to execute the examination

in an efficient way. The modulesavailable are exam master, examtimetable, seating arrangements,

Internal Mark Entry and Internal markscomparison reports.

7.2.1 – Describe at least two institutional best practices

1. Adoption of the Village C G Pudur Title of the practice 1 is Adoption ofC.G.Pudur Village 2. The context that required the initiation of the practice:

C.G.Pudur is a nearby village which is inhabited by rustic people. Thispractice is initiated to educate the rural students of the neighboring

locality. By adopting the village, the college takes responsibility of thevillage and it is understood that the village is given overall care. Thecollege conducts many awareness programs, rallies in order to educate the

villagers. Medical Camps are organized to ensure the health of the inhabitants.The school children of the village are given career guidance programmes andBasic English grammar classes. It’s vital to educate and ensure that the

inhabitants are made aware of the current social and political scenario and areable to cope up with it.3. Objectives of the Practice: To provide adequateawareness on education policies, to impart knowledge on mental and physicalhealth, hygiene and epidemic diseases.4. The Practice: The practice aims at

developing the village as a whole in all the areas such as mental and physicalhealth, education, employment and general knowledge. To focus on each and everyaspect, the college frames many programme schedules which includes the name andtype of the programmes to be conducted by each and every department and thedifferent clubs and committees of the college. 6. Impact of the Practice: Thestudents and staff members of the college visit the village regularly. With thehelp of various programmes like street plays, awareness campaigns, rallies,

lectures, poster presentations etc by our students, the villagers gainknowledge on various mental and physical health care issues, education and

government policies needed for them to lead a peaceful life. Children startedjoining schools, the school children were able to communicate in English. Thevillagers started paying more attention to their health and health related

habits. The impact is also felt on the students who are directly related to theactivities, as we indulge them in community services and societal wellbeing. 1.

Title of the practice 2 Introduction of Job Oriented Courses. Job OrientedCourses are planned and provided to the students of all departments on the

basis of employability requirements along with the curriculum. All the studentsare made to enroll in any one of the course depending upon their interest. Allthe first year UG students are given Communicative English Classes. FinishingSchool classes are conducted for all the final year UG students. FinishingSchool classes focus on Etiquette, Power of Positive Thinking, InterviewSkills, Numerical Aptitude, Personal Grooming, Group Discussion, PublicSpeaking, Stress Release Techniques, Body Language, Leadership Skills,

Presentation Skills and Art of Writing. Apart from subject oriented courses,other courses such as Jewelry making, painting, jam preparation etc are alsoprovided. Some of the courses such as TALLY, J2EE, and ANDROID are providedwith Industry – institution tie ups, jewelry making, painting are run throughexperts from the respective fields. The students develop additional skillsthrough this practice and find themselves sound to acquire employment.

The college follows the teachings of the great saint –Sree Narayana Guru. SreeNarayana Guru Youth Club keeps organizing programmes and activities which focuson the preaching of the saint Sree Narayana Guru. The college has various clubsand committees which regularly conduct activities to promote human values and

ethics. Each year the college gets more number of university ranks to itscredit. Sports students are given importance and their admission process

includes fee concessions. A national level player will get 100 concession insemester fees, for a State level player concession of 50 is given and a

district level student will get 50 concession in the tuition fees. Apart fromthis, meritorious scholarship is also provided for students. Intra and Inter

departmental competitions are conducted regularly for encouraging the studentsto showcase their talents. Job Oriented Courses are conducted for both UG andPG students to gain additional skills inorder to bridge the gap between theacademics and the industry. Multicultural teaching approaches are followedsince students are from various parts of the world. Each department conductsFood Fests and the profit is donated to Orphanages. Through this practice

students cultivate the traits such as compassion, humanity and leadership. Thecollege has adopted the nearby village C.G.Pudur which is inhabited by rustic
