Sensitizing on the subject of CBCS for the Teachers of General Degree
Colleges of Goa on 12th September 2015
It has organised workshop on CBCS to create awareness and preparation for the
implementation of the new course. Organised meetings and made suggestions for
improvement in quality of work.

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the Teaching & Learning processes :
IQAC motivates the faculty to adopt ICT method of teaching and learning. Faculty is
appraised regarding the feedback obtained from the students and recommendations are made
to the Principal to take necessary steps. IQAC initiated on completion of portion as per of
schedule by way of considering the fast and slow learners and maximum number of ST
students. These recommendations are made to improve the quality of results.

IQAC discusses regarding students’ performance and progress in the staff meetings.
IQAC interacts with the mentors regarding mentees.
Regular Notices are circulated on information regarding Seminars, field trips, sports,
scholarships, examination and deputation of students.
IQAC ensures improvement in students support services for better progression.
The students are informed about the Support services available in the college during the
Students orientation programme at the beginning of the academic year.
The services include Counselling ,mentoring , hygienic canteen facility, issue of Voter Id in
association with election commission, barrier free access for differently abled students,
medical aid, health insurance, support for slow learners, remedial classes, student consumer
co-operative society , Government scholarship, Financial Assistance scheme, training of
students by experts in theatre and sports field , Guest Lectures by eminent personalities,
placement cell .
The departments and committees monitors closely the facilities and benefits availed by the students.
The progression of the students is tracked through Mentoring.

5.8 Details of gender sensitization programmes
There is no specific mechanism for coaching the students for competitive examinations.
However the students are trained to refer to research journals. Guest lectures, career
guidance sessions and workshops are organised by the faculty.
Lectures on career guidance and emerging areas, Seminars and Tally programmes are organised by the departments.
Counselling is also done by the faculty through mentoring.

There is a Sexual Harassment Committee that deals with the issues related to women.
A national event ‘Chitrangi – 2015’ known for women’s literary socio-cultural festival was
organised on 7th December,2015 and 350 participants including students, writers and artists
had been benefited by the event.

The institution has constituted a Local Managing Committee that regularly meets twice in a
year. Principal communicates the input to the management.

VIII.
1. STUDENTS ELECTION COMMITTEE:
Conducts the election in the month of July to the Students Council of the college as well
as conducts election for the post of UCR and UFR in accordance with Goa University
Statute .
2. STUDENTS COUNCIL / NSS / SPORTS COUNCIL
The co-curricular, extra-curricular and cultural activities at the college level, inter-
collegiate level and State level are organised by the Students’ Council, NSS and Sports
Council.
These three Committees initiate and co-ordinate with other Statutory committees and
encourages students participation in activities related to promotion of social and
community values. As per the requirement of the different Government and academic
institutions these committees train and promote the sports person, the volunteers and
other students in undertaking the extension activities related to environmental protection,
awareness and sanitation.
3. PARENTS – TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
PTA has contributed for the development of the students at the college by way of
recognizing the achievements of students through felicitating. It helps the students
through ‘Book Bank Scheme’.
4. VISUNDHARA NATURE CLUB COMMITTEE
It enrolls the members, nominates secretary and the group leaders in July. The club organizes
hike , ‘Vanmahostava’ and eco-friendly intercollegiate competitions for students.
In addition to the above mentioned activities the Departments / Committees / Cells of the
College organizes several activities and programmes as directed / required by the
University/Government and non-government institutions related to emerging issues.

Activities of the Institution during the Academic Year 2015-16
I. Institutional Activities 1. The Academic Year 2015-16 was inaugurated on 1st July, 2015. The Officiating
Principal Dr. Savita S. Nadkarni welcomed the new entrants and oriented them about
the facilities available at the campus and aboutthe rules and regulations to be followed
on the premises. The faculty alsoinformed the students regarding their respective
subjects.

2. Sanskrit Sambhashan Shibir for 10 days for College students was organized by Shri.
Anand Dessai in association with Sanskrit Bharati from 13th to 23rd July, 2015 during 2
p.m. to 4 p.m. in college hall and 61 students from CES College and 22 students from
CES, HSS and two teachers were benefited from the course.
3. The 69th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2015 at 8.00 a.m. onwards.
The Chairman of C.E.S. Shri Maducora B.N. Dessai along with other Management
members hoisted the National Flag. The teaching and non-teaching faculty and students
of the entire sister concern institutions of the C.E.S. participated in the celebration. The
students expressed their patriotism through patriotic songs, speeches and poems.
4. Konkani department has organized Shenoy Goembab story telling competition for the
school children in collaboration with Konkani Bhasha Mandal. The competition was
held on 31th August, 2015 and 66 students from different schools of Salcete Taluka
participated. President of Konkani Bhasha Mandal Mr. Chetan Acharya inaugurated the
competition.
5. The faculty and students of all sister concern institutions, management members, and
proud citizens of Cuncolim participated in celebration of Founders Day. On the
completion of 50 years of establishment of Cuncolim Educational Society, a Golden
Jubilee Year Celebration programme was organized on 2nd October, 2015. The day
began with flag hoisting programme along with Gandhi Jayanti Programme at college
campus at 8.00 a.m. followed by the two workshop from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p. m. at
Cuncolim Muncipal Hall for parents, staff and students of school, higher secondary and
college section and management members. The resource persons for the workshop were
Prof. Dilip Vasant Betkikar and Pf. Vithal Sukhthankar. In the evening there was
felicitation of members and Retired Heads of all three Institutions at the hands of
Honorable C.M. of Goa, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar. The entire day programme was
organized with the help of NSS Volunteers.
6. The faculty and students of all sister concern institutions, management members
celebrated 54th ‘Goa Liberation Day’ on 19th December, 2015 on the College Campus.
Shri Moducora B.N. Dessai, Chairman, CES was the chief guest.
7. In the memory of Late Shri Pio F. Lawrence the College organized 25th All Goa Inter-
Collegiate ‘Kavi-Sammelan’ on 25th January, 2016 in the College Audio Visual. The
meet was jointly organized by the Departments of Hindi, English, Marathi and Konkani
in four languages – Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English. Young budding student poets
numbering 27 from different Colleges and Goa University participated in the
Sammelan.
8. The Chairman, members of management and staff and students of all institutions of
CES celebrated Republic Day function in the college premises on 26th January, 2016.
II. Activities Organized by the Students Council
1. The Inaugural of the Student’s Council, Sport Council and N.S.S Unit was held on 8th
August, 2015, at the hands of Dr. Radhika, Nayak, Principal of S.S. Dempo College of
Commerce and Economics. Mr. Punit, Dessai was sworn in as the General Secretary
and Dr. Apoorva, Marathe, Associate Prof. in Economics was nominated as the
Chairperson.
2. CES College in association with I.C.I.C.I. Bank, Cuncolim organized “Creative
Masters Drawing Contest” on 13th August, 2015 and twelve students participated in the
contest and five students were declared winners and qualified for next round.

3. The Students council organized an inter-class Slogan Competition on CES College,
Greeting Card making competition on Youth of India and Friendship band making
competition on 27th August, 2015.
4. Students’ council organized for the first time an inter-class ‘Ghumat Aarati’
Competition on 4th September, 2015 in college hall and 45 students performed in the
completion. The winners of the competition were sent to inter-collegiate Ghumati
Aarati Competition organized by other colleges.
5. The students’ council organized ‘Teachers’ Day programme on 5th September, 2015. Dr.
Savita S. Nadkarni elaborated on how birthday of this president became teachers’ day
and welcomed the students. Further, the celebration included tribute to Dr. S.V.
Radhakrishnan , Ex-president of India , floral welcome to all teachers, speeches and
the entertainment programme. Students organized various games and entertainment
programmes for the teachers.
6. The Students council organized All Goa Inter-Collegiate “Bhav-Geet” Competition by
name “BHAV-AMRUTA DHARA” on Saturday 12th September, 2015, at College
Audio Visual Hall. The officiating Principal Dr. Savita S. Nadkarni welcomed the chief
guest, Shri Dattkumar Ambe, Vice chairman, CES and student participants. Tabala artist
Shri Yatin Talavalikar was the chief guest and Shri. Sanjay Gaonkar, Savlo Chodankar,
Pratap Kalekar, Samiksha Kakodkar were the judges. Fifteen Marathi bhavageet were
performed followed by the guiding performances of the judges, seven colleges from
Goa participated in the competition.
7. As part of the “Talent Hunt 2015” Students Council organized ‘Traditional Day’ and
‘Interclass Singing’ Competition on 4th December, Interclass ‘Dance’, ‘Mehandi’ and
‘Hair Dressing’ Competition on 5th December, and ‘Bazar Day’, ‘Nail Art’ and ‘Face
Painting’ competition on 7th December, 2015. Officiating Principal Dr. Savita S.
Nadkarni welcomed the students, the chief guest Mr. Mario Mories, Vice president of
CMC and guest of honour Mr. Shashank Dessai, Councilor inaugurated the stalls of the
students and appreciated the efforts taken by students. Principal of CUHSS Shri. Tilroy
Fernandes congratulated the students. All classes participated in bazaar day and the
profit was contributed to Chennai flood affected Indians.
8. The Annual Social and Prize Distribution function was held on 23rd December, 2015 in
the CMC Hall, Cuncolim. Shri Rajendra V. Arlekar, Minister for Forest, Environment
and Panchayat was the Chief Guest and Mr. Rajan Naik, MLA of Cuncolim
constituency was guest of honor. The prize distribution function was followed by the
various entertainment programs performed by the students. The NSS Unit volunteered
for the success of the event.
III. Activities Organized by the NSS Unit of the College
C.E.S.NSS Unit for 2015-16 began with the enrolment of 424 student volunteers, three
Programme Officers and Mr. Milroy Dias as the General Secretary contributed for
organization of strong and healthy activities by the NSS Unit during 2015-16.
1. The NSS Unit organized ‘the International Yoga Day’ on 21st June, 2015 Raghvendra
K. Belgikar, a yoga trainer and an ex-student was the resource person. Shri. Vishnu
Dessai was the Chief Guest. More than 40 Students and faculty members participated.
2. Goa Science Centre and Planetarium, Ministry of Culture, Government of India,
Panaji- Goa organized a Rally from Goa Science Centre, Miramar to Kala Academy,
Panaji and conducted a Seminar on the topic “ Population is a boon or bane for India”

on 11th July, 2015. Two students presented their paper in the Seminar while twenty five
volunteers participated in the Rally.
3. The NSS Unit and the ‘Vasundhara’ Nature Club celebrated “Vanmohatsava” on 21st
July, 2015. Prof. Travor Vaz Baretto, was the chief guest who emphasized on the role
of youth in promoting nature friendly life. About 300 saplings were planted by 150
volunteers.
4. The social activities of the Unit began with the inauguration of NSS Unit along with
Students Council and Sports Council on 8th August, 2015. Principal Dr. Radhika Nayak,
Dempo College, Panjim, oriented NSS volunteers on this occasion, more than 350
students participated in above programme.
5. A college cleanliness drive under the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan was organized on 14th
August, 2015 and the college campus was cleaned by 167 students.
6. College organized Dental Health Camp and Diabetes check-up camp in association
with Goa Dental College and Bayer pharmaceuticals on Thursday, the 20th August,
2015. Team of 10 Doctors from Goa Dental College conducted the camp and about 100
people were benefited by the Camp. NSS Volunteers helped in the Smooth conduct of
the Camp.
7. The NSS unit conducted a hike on the 22nd August, 2015, to “Kuske”, Canacona- Goa.
In all 300 volunteers participated in the hike.
8. An ‘Inter- faith Dialogue’ Programme was organized in the College on 29th August,
2015. NSS Volunteers helped in planning and organizing the programme.
9. On the occasion of NSS Day on 24th September, 2015, an essay writing competition
was organized for students of the College and 35 students participated.
10. The CES NSS unit organized annual special camp at M.I.B.K High School, Khandepar,
Ponda from 12th to 17th November, 2015. The objective of the camp was to make the
volunteers aware of their social and civic obligations.
11. Under the NSS Unit of CES College, C H A T organized cleaning the vegetation of
Bhuddhist cave of Khandepar on 16th November, 2015.
12. As a regular activity of the NSS Unit contribution to the Flag Day Fund, celebrated on
7th December, 2015, the NSS Unit collected Rs. 2903/- was sent to the Secretary,
Department of Sainik Welfare, by demand draft.
13. As a part of Chennai Flood Relief Fund, a ‘Disastrous Natural Calamity’ was held in
Chennai during the first week of December, 2015. NSS Unit of our College collected
the required material was sent to Chennai through Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, Ponda, Goa.
14. An AIDS awareness programme to create awareness of HIV/AIDS among youth
between the age group of 15- 29 years of age, the “Goa State AIDS Control Society” in
collaboration with NSS Unit of our College performed a “Magic Show” on 12th
December, 2015. Shri Ram Naik along with his associates performed the show.
15. As a part of Anniversary celebration of launch of Swachh Bharat Mission, the
cleanliness drive for Educational Institutions was observed from 1st to 15th December,
2015. The College organized “Clean Institution Competition 2016” for the surrounding
Educational Institutions in which 20 Institutions participated. Mary of the Angeles
Convent High School, Chinchinim, got the 1st Prize.
16. To inculcate the habit of cleanliness amongst students “Clean-class” competition was
undertaken in the College.
17. With the objective to create awareness amongst the people of Cuncolim a ‘Mashal
Rally’ was organized on 15th December, 2015, by NSS Unit in which more than 100
volunteers participated, with Banners and Placards. Slogans on ‘Swachh Bharat’ and
‘Neetal Goen’ were given. .

18. The Annual Social Gathering and Prize Distribution function was held on 22nd
December, 2015 at Cuncolim Muncipality Hall. The NSS Unit provided Volunteers for
the arrangement of the Gathering.
19. As a part of celebration of National Youth Week in the memory of Swami Vivekananda,
a talk was organized for the students by inviting Prof. Ramesh Sapreto speak on the
topic “Swami Vivekananda and Youth”, on Wednesday, the 13th January, 2016. Staff of
neighboring Institutions and interested locals was invited for the talk.
20. During the celebration of local Festival of Shree Shantadurga Kunkolikarin from 14th
to 20th January 2016, the volunteers participated in this activity and helped in managing
the movements and regularizing the traffic, queue, maintaining discipline during the
festival.
21. As a regular activity, NSS Unit of the College organizesd Blood Donation Camp in
association with Blood Bank, Hospicio Hospital, Margao on 5th February 2016. After
health orientation to all volunteers and staff, 26 volunteers donated blood.
22. National Deworming Day was observed on 10th February, 2016. During the week
awareness among the faculty, non- teaching staff and students teaching staff was
created by distribution of pills.
23. Clean College Drive was taken up on 18th December, 2015 and also on 25th January
2016 as a part of Liberation Day and Republic Day.
IV. Activities of Sports Council
The Department of Physical Education and Sports encourages and trains the students to
participate all sports activities organized by Goa University and other recognized
institutions/ clubs / Association, including Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs
Government of Goa and The Sports Authority of Goa. During current academic year 2015-
16, College teams participated in following sports events.
A. Inter-collegiate / Sports Tournaments / competition at State /
University level for 2015-16: 1. In the Inter-collegiate Badminton Tournament, 2015-16 organized by Goa University at
Campal, Panjim from 21st to 25th July, 2015, a team of six players participated and
reached second round.
2. The College Team of six students participated in Inter Collegiate cross country race
held at Pillar on 25th July, 2015. The Women Team secured runners up position.
3. In the Inter-collegiate Table Tennis Tournament, 2015-16, organized by Goa University
at Campal, SAG Indoor hall, Panjim Goa from29th to 31st July, 2015, the college team
of five students participated and reached second round.
4. In the Inter-collegiate Swimming competition, 2015-16, organized by Goa University at
SAG Swimming pool, Campal Panjim on 7th August, 2015, a team of three students
participated and finished at 5th position.
5. The college team consisting of six runners participated in All Goa Inter Collegiate
Invitation Baton Running Relay Race held on 12th August, 2015 at Margao, Goa. The
College Women Team won the Runners up position.
6. Inter-collegiate Body Building Competition, 2015-16, organized by Goa University at
Jubilee hall of the university from 19th to 21st August, 2015. College team of two
students participated. Mr. Omkar Dessai won Silver medal for upto 85 k.g. weight
category.
7. In the Inter-collegiate Cross country race, 2015-16, organized by Goa University for
men & women on 22nd August 2015, our college team of nine men and six women

participated.Men team finished sixth in the competition where as women team secured

8. In the Inter-collegiate Tennikoit Tournament, 2015-16, organized by Goa University at
University Sports Complex on 25th and 26th August 2015, a women team of five players
participated and won the championship.
9. In the Inter-collegiate Football Tournament, 2015-16, organized by Goa University at
university sports complex from 26th August, and 11th September, 2015, a team of 20
students participated and reached to second round.
10. In the Inter-collegiate Taekwondo competition 2015-16, organized by Goa University
on 29th and 30th September, 2015 at Jubilee Hall, Taleigao, Plateau Goa, one player
participated and qualified for finals in up to 65 k.g. weight group.
11. The Inter-collegiate Kabaddi Tournament 2015-16 for men was organized by Goa
University at university sports complex on 1st and 2nd December, 2015. The number of
students participated were 12 and the team reached to semifinals.
12. In the Inter-collegiate Kabaddi Tournament 2015-16 for women organized by Goa
University at university sports complex on 1st and2nd December, 2015, the College team
consisting of 12 students participated and the team reached to quarter finals.
13. In the Inter- collegiate Kho-Kho Tournament 2015-16 for men organized by Goa
University at PJN Stadium, Fatorda, Margao Goa on 8th and 9th December, 2015, the
College team consisting of 12 students won champions title for the year 2015-16.
14. The Inter-collegiate Kho-Kho Tournament 2015-16 for women was organized by Goa
University at PJN Stadium, Fatorda, Margao Goa on 8th and 9th December, 2015, the
College team of 12 students won the championship for the year 2015-16.
15. In the Inter- collegiate Athletic Meet 2015-16 organized by Goa University at
International Athletic championship 2015-16 at International Athletic stadium,
Bambolim Goa, the college team consisting of 45 students (26 men and 19 women)
participated. The achievements of CES athletes included Silver medal in 1500 meter
run for women, Silver medal in Hepthathlon event, Bronze medal in 500 m. run for
women, Bronze medal for 4x400 meter relay race and Bronze medal in 1500 meter run
for men.
16. The Inter- collegiate Volleyball Tournament 2015-16 for men was organized by Goa
University organized at Shamaprasad Mukharjee Indoor Stadium Taleigao Plateau from
12th to 16th January, 2016. The College team of 12 students participated and the team
reached upto second round of the tournament.
17. In the Inter- collegiate Cricket Tournament 2015-16 organized by Goa University at
University Sports Complex from 10th and 24th February, 2016. A team of 16 students
participated and reached to second round of the tournament.
B. Students Participated in Inter University Sports 2015-16
All India Inter-university Cross Country Championship 2015-16 was organized by
Mangalore University at Mangalore (Karnataka). Two students from the CES College
were selected for by the Goa University to participate in the race that was conducted
from 10th and 11th October, 2015.

1. The Senior National Kho-kho Championship 2015-16 held at Solapur Maharashtra,
from 23rd to 27th November, 2015 and six CES college students represented Goa State
in Goa kho-kho team.
2. In 7th Rashtriya, Vanavasi Krida Mahotsav held at Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon
(Hotwar) Ranchi, Jharkhand from 28th to 31st December, 2015 in Athletics and one
student participated in the sports event.
3. The 3rd Men and Women Senior West Zone National Atyapatya Championship 2015-
16 was held at Indore (M.P.) on 27th and 28th January, 2016 in which six men and
ten women players participated. The men team secured third place and women team
secured second place
4. The 30th Men and 26th Women Senior National Atyapatya Championship, 2016 held at
Indore (M.P.) from 27th to 31st January 2016 and 16 students of the College represented
Goa state team.
5. The 5th Federation cup National Sepaktakraw Championship, 2016 was held at Fatorda,
Margao, Goa from 2nd to 5th February, 2016 and three students represented the Goa
State and participated in the national sport.
6. The 40th Senior National Tennikoit championship, 2015-16 held at SVLN Z.P., high
school ground, Gopalapatnam, in Visakhapatnam, from 10th to 14th February 2016 and
one student represented Goa State.
7. Two Students of the College were selected for All India Coaching Camp in Kho-Kho
held at Indore (M.P.) from 8th to 10th April, 2016.
D. Selection of students for International Kho-Kho Championship
The Asian Kho-Kho Championship was held at Indore (M.P) from 8th to 10th 2016. One
student from C.E.S. student was selected to represent Indian Team that won the Asian
Kho-Kho Championship, 2016.

1. The Department of Commerce and Accountancy of the College organized a guest
lecture by Mr. Agnelo Fernandes, LIC Development Officer, on “Career Guidance” on
the topic “L.I.C. as a career for the students of T.Y.B.Com” on 15th July, 2015 in the
College Audio Visual hall from 12.45 to 1.45 p.m. that benefited 27 students.
2. The Department of History inaugurated CHAT (Cuncolim- History Association of
Thinkers) in the memory of late Dr. Sharon D’cruz on 25th July, 2015.
3. Students of History participated in an inter-collegiate competition organized by
Government of Goa on ‘Goan Culture’ on the eve of World Tourism Day on 27th July,
2015.
4. The Department of Economics, organized four days workshop for the students of the
T.Y.B.A./B.Com from 24th to 28th August, 2015 during 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the
college hall and 43 students participated in the workshop.

6. Department of Commerce and Accountancy organized one day ‘Industrial Visit’ to
“Goa Art Enterprises” located at Canacona Industrial Estate, on 1st September, 2015 for
T.Y. B.Com students. Sixty-three students participated in the Industrial Visit.
7. C H A T organized inter-class pencil sketch competition on the theme ‘Historical
Personalities and Monuments’ on 2nd September, 2015 in the College in which 20
students from both the streams participated.
8. The department of English inaugurated a literary guild ‘Eloquence’ with the objective
of training the students in public speaking and confidence building on3rd September,
2015. On the same day an interclass Spelling competition ‘Spell-a-tone’ was organized.
A team of three students from each class/division and total 30 students participated in
the competition. A special audience round was held.
9. CHAT organized a field trip ‘Kushavati Heritage Trail’ on 6th September, 2015. It
covered the historical sites and monuments on the river banks of Kushavati. Students
visited vodle Ghor, Nandi bull, Kadamba fort, Pansalimal Rock carving, Bhuddist
caves of Rivona, Budbudyache Talle, Mahadev Temple of Kurdi.
10. Department of Geography organized one day trip to Verlem village Eco-tourism Sites
for T.Y.B.A. students on 14th September, 2015. A transit walk in the village informed
the students regarding the local mud houses, courtyard gardens, local goddess temple,
sacred trees and recognizing a number of species of insects were some of the attractions
of the field trip. Two faculty members accompanied 27 students.
11. The Department of Political Science organized Elocution Competition for the students
on 14th September, 2015 with a purpose of cultivating communication skills and
generate interest in general reading and six students participated in the competition.
12. The Department of Mathematics and Information Technology had organized an Essay
Writing Competition for the students of our college on 15th Sept. 2015 between 12.45
to 1.30 p.m.
13. Department of Hindi organized an inter-class essay competition on 15th September,
2015 as a part of ‘HINDI DAY’ celebration in which 30 students participated.
14. The Department of Sociology organized an inter-class Essay writing competition on the
theme ‘AIDS IN GOA’ on 21st September, 2015 in the Audio Visual Hall of the college,
in which 20 students participated.
15. Department of Konkani organized a study trip for the Konkani students to Hyderabad.
The faculty and 15 students participated in above study tour during 20th to 27th
November, 2015.
16. Department of Commerce and Accountancy organized an inter-class quiz competition
on 27th November, 2015, six classes represented.
17. Department of Commerce and Accountancy organized an Inter-class Essay competition
on 15th December, 2015 in which 6 teams of commerce classes participated.
18. The Departments of History and Hindi organized an excursion to Malvan-Riagad from
28th to 31st December, 2015. Thirty five students participated in the excursion. The
students visited Ganapati Pule Temple in Ratnagiri Taluka. The students were
accompanied by faculty members.
19. The Department of Sociology students along with the faculty visited ‘The Institute of
Public Assistance (Provedoria) an aged Home in Cuncolim on 7th January, 2016.
20. Department of Commerce and Accountancy in association with Tendolakars Academy
organized a session on the topic “Accountancy and Taxation” on 9th January 2016 for
60 T.Y.B.Com students. Mr. Chetan Tendolakar was the resource person.

22. On the occasion of the Women’s Day on 8th March, 2016 the Department of Sociology
organised slogan competition on the theme ‘Violence against Women’, on 9th March,
2016. Fifteen students participated in the competition.
23. Department of Commerce and Accountancy organized career guidance talk on “The
Road Map Ahead” for 61 students of T.Y.B.A. and T.Y.B.Com. on 18th March, 2016.
Mr. Pratrik Narvekar from Akademia, Mumbai was the resource person.
24. Department of Economics conducted Three Days Summer Workshop, the first of its
kind, on the theme “Economics for Nation Building” from 26th to 28th April, 2016 in
College Audio Visual hall for first and second year students. The Oscar award winner
movie “A Beautiful Mind” was screened for students. Project writing, research
methodology, objective test, preparing for competitive examinations, ensuring grammar
were the areas that were dealt in.
25. The department of Political Science conducted an interclass quiz competition on the
topic ‘Current Affairs of India’ on 28th April, 2016. Three teams from all classes
participated in competition.

Marathi poem and Ms. Rodrigues Anusha secured third place in Konkani category.
5. The Student’s council deputed twelve students to participate in “Creative Masters
Drawing Contest” organized by ICICI Bank Ltd, Cuncolim branch, at CES College on
13th August, 2015 and five students from the college were declared winners of the
competition.

24. A group of 35 students from our college participated in the 21st Goa Yuva Mahotsava,
2016, two days cultural festival at Panjim on 12th and 13th December, 2015.
25. In the 3rd Annual “Political Science Festival” held on 5th March, 2016 organized by
Political Science department, Goa University, 12 students participated. The theme of
the Festival was “Celebrating Dissent in Indian Democracy”. CES students won the
overall Championship and 1st place for Poster making 3rd place in the Elocution
competition.
26. Shri Milroy Dias NSS Secretary of our College was felicitated by Goa University as
the outstanding NSS Volunteers on 21st March, 2016 at the hands of Dr. Satish Shetye,

VII. Seminar / Conference / Workshop Organized by the Institution for the
Faculty and Students Development During the Academic Year 2015-
16
1. The IQAC of the College organized one day State Level Sensitization Workshop on the
“Choice Based Credit System” on 12th September, 2015, in the College IQAC room in
which 23 faculty members from our college and other colleges participated. The
Workshop was organized as per the request sent by the Directorate of Higher Education
through the email on Wednesday, 9 September 2015. Dr. Prita D. Mallya, Principal,
V.V.M.’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, was the
resource person for the Workshop. The discussion held on the proposed Draft
Ordinance based on the model Curriculum recommended by the University Grants
Commission under Choice Based Credit System to be effective from the academic year
2016-17 onwards, also highlighted the consequences of the implementation of the
CBCS on the Colleges in Goa, some ambiguities in the Ordinance and the precautions
to be taken before its implementation.
2. The national event ‘Chitrangi’ Convention for the year 2015 known for women’s
literary and socio cultural festival was organized by Department of Konkani in
association with Konkani Bhasha Mandal Goa, at Municipal Hall, Cuncolim on 6th and
7th December, 2015. Mrs. Daivashala Giri, the social activist from Mumbai
(Maharashtra) was the chief guest for the inaugural function. Ex-election commissioner
and Ex-Principal Shri Prabhakar Timble was key- note speaker for the Chitrangi
Festival. More than 350 writers, artists and students across Goa participated in
Chitrangi. Shri Nityanand Naik, department of Konkani, took efforts to make this event
successful.
3. The Department of Commerce and Geography jointly organized a one day National
Seminar on ‘Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises: Issues, Problems and
Challenges’ on 4th March, 2016 in the Audio Visual Hall of the college. The focus of
the seminar was to consider the broad theme of ‘Make in India’. Issues and
opportunities to India by way of growth of micro, small and medium scale enterprises
in ensuring Make in India initiative through Skilling India in decades to come were
discussed in the seminar.

BEST PRACTICES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-16
Best Practice No. 1 (2015-16)
1. Title of the practice: “Healthy Body for Healthy Mind”,
2. Goals:
1. To promote the objective of good health for personality development of the

2. To promote sports culture at the college,
3. To motivate sports as a career,
4. To demonstrate successful sportsperson as role model
3. Practice:
1. The college encourages the students and sportspersons to enroll under Sports
Council.
2. Annual activity plan based on Goa University Sports calendar is made and Sports
Secretary is nominated.
3. The college has students from village areas of Morpilla, Balli, Gokulde, Barse ,
Padi and other interior villages.
4. College gives all facilities to the students, they are informed regarding
tournaments and athletic meets at the Inter-collegiate, Inter-University, State
level, National level and International level.
5. Special coaching/training is given by alumni coaches and players to the students
and continuous practice, preparation for games and tournaments is regularly done.
6. In PTA annual felicitation programme, sports persons are given primary
preference.
7. Sportspersons with good academic record are encouraged to perform in
academics.

4. Evidence of Success:
The CES students participate in Inter-collegiate, National level and International
level competitions since 1989.
1. In the year 2014-15, 149 students participated at University level, 19 at National
level sports. CES (Men) Kho-kho team was awarded championship, secured
runners up in Tennikoit and silver and bronze medals for two individual events
out of eight events. Fourteen students had been selected and represented Goa at
National level competitions during 2014-15.
2. In the year 2015-16, 190 students participated in Inter-collegiate competitions and
have won 13 sports awards. In National level sports 47 players participated and
have won an award. Akshay Velip played in Goa’s and Indian Kho-kho team for
which he was felicitated by Vice-Chancellor, Goa University on Founder’s Day
of GU, 19th June 2017 as Best Sportsperson.
3. Suraj Velip, sportsperson of 14-15 batch qualified JRF-2017, M.Com. of Goa
University 2015-2017 is alumni of CES.
5. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
1. College does not have playground and every time practice is done in Cuncolim,
wherever open space is available.
2. The monetary assistance given to the players is comparatively limited.
3. Transport for the village male and female student players during practice and
tournaments happen to be the major challenge.
4. Lack of Gymkhana facility for the indoor activities within the campus is major
challenge.

1. Title of the practice: “Donate Blood to Save Life of the Needy”
2. Goals:
1. To provide blood to Goa Medical College ,Blood Bank/Hospicio, Margao
2. To serve the society by conducting blood donation programme.
3. To create awareness among the students and alumni/ teaching and non- teaching
staff of the college to donate blood and ensure social responsibility among the
youth.
4. To maintain the data of the donors to deal with emergencies.
5. To help the Blood Bank by organizing camps.
3. Practice:
1. The college provides all the amenities for the smooth functioning of the blood
donation camp.
2. Goa Medical College, Blood Bank/Hospicio, Margao is contacted well-in-
advance for the success of the activity.
3. Prior to the blood donation camp communication is done with the concerned bank
and dates are fixed. The volunteers are informed regarding the date and time.
4. The Blood bank officer/ Doctor orient the participants including volunteers and
donors regarding weight, HB and diet and precautions. The team explains the
essence of the blood donation in emergency and crucial areas, healthy practices in
blood donation and awareness among NSS volunteers, staff, ex-students and
citizens of Cuncolim is created. The queries of the students and others are
fruitfully answered during the camp.
5. The volunteers are informed regarding the steps to be taken while donating blood.
6. The senior volunteers create awareness about the blood donation camp and the
benefits of the same.
4. Evidence of Success:
1. All the NSS and Non NSS volunteers and few local youths take part in this noble
cause voluntarily.

2. The ex-students of the college communicate and have donated blood.
3. A positive change is visible in the attitude of the students, staff members and NSS
volunteers.
4. Some of the volunteers and the staff members, local citizens have enquired about
the future blood donation camp.
a. For the Academic year 2013-14 CES NSS Unit organized “Blood Donation
Camp” under the assistance of the Medical team from Hospicio Hospital, Margao
on 30th August, 2013 and blood donation was done by 26 donors.
b. For the year 2014-15 NSS Unit of the College organised a voluntary Blood
Donation Camp in association with Blood Bank, Hospicio Hospital, Margao on
11th December 2014 at college hall and 35 donors donated blood.
c. For the year 2015-16, as a regular activity, NSS Unit of the College organized
Blood Donation Camp in association with Blood Bank, Hospicio Hospital,
Margao on 5th February 2016 and 26 volunteers donated blood.
d. In these years it is found that more than 70 interested volunteers come forward
and blood is tested and blood groups are found. Due to several health limitations
as mentioned above, only qualified donate blood.
5. Problems Encountered and Resource Required:
1. Many of the volunteers hesitate to donate blood because of fear and doubts.
2. A number of volunteers wants to donate but due to low weight/high weight or
low HB are unable to donate.
3. The male and female students faint as they are present at the camp.
4. It is found that there is a need to give proper and immediate training of the
precautions to be taken during blood donation.
5. The weak students should be oriented / provided with required nourishment.
Organisation of Blood Donation camp had been conducted since 1995 at CES. Recently
for the year, 2014-15 and 2015-16 Directorate of Health Services, Hospicio Hospital,
Blood Bank has given the letter of appreciation.
