About Vertigo TheatreVertigo Theatre is the only professional theatre in Canada producing a series of plays based in the mystery genre. Vertigo Theatre provides a performance home annually for some of Calgary’s most beloved arts organizations and is committed to mentorship and training in all areas of theatre. Vertigo Theatre has been a part of the Calgary Theatre community for over 40 years.

A Note From The Artistic Director

Hello friends of Vertigo Theatre, and welcome to the first episode of Vertigo Mystery Radio! V.M.R. is an exciting new online collaboration between Vertigo and 6 Degrees, one of Calgary’s preeminent music and sound production houses. The series will see us utilizing the online podcast format to continue exploring the breadth of the mystery genre, from literary classics through to contemporary true crime. Vertigo Mystery

Radio will extend the Vertigo experience beyond the walls of our theatre by bringing high-quality audio mysteries right into your home.

As you all know these are challenging times for the live performing arts, as the restrictions required to help stop the spread of COVID-19 make gathering in large groups impossible. We will be exploring the possibility of smaller scale live offerings once these restrictions begin to ease (details to be announced soon!), but in the meantime our hope is that Vertigo Mystery Radio will help to satisfy your mystery cravings. Please enjoy this first episode of V.M.R., a tribute to the golden age of mystery radio and to you our loyal patrons.

Anna Cummer is a Calgary-based actor. She has had the good fortune of performing throughout Canada with a variety of theatre companies including The Vancouver Playhouse, The Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects, Vertigo Theatre, Persephone

and the National Arts. Anna has also worked extensively in the world of voice over voicing popular animated characters, as well as various radio commercial campaigns and CBC radio presentations. Mike is a Calgary-based theatre artist and photographer. He has worked as a co-creator in devised theatre creation ensembles with Downstage, Theatre Junction and Ghost River Theatre; an acting ensemble member at the Banff Centre Playwrights Lab workshopping new plays from

For almost 30 years Christian has worked across Canada, the US, and abroad, as an actor, director, musician, writer, and teacher. He has worked extensively at major theatres all across Canada including; Theatre Calgary, ATP, Vertigo Theatre, Lunchbox Theatre, The Shakespeare Company, Hit and Myth,

The Citadel Theatre,Tarragon Theatre, Globe Theatre, The Belfry Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse, Neptune Theatre, Ground Zero, Stage West, TNB, and twice toured throughout the UK with Ghost River Theatre. He has been featured in numerous films and network television programs for CBC, Syfy, NBC, YTV, CBS, Hallmark, and many independent productions. He is a produced playwright, composer, teacher, and multiple Betty Mitchell Award winner. Christian is Casting and Voice Director at Six Degrees Music and Sound where he has voice-directed countless Radio/TV commercials, documentaries, corporate narrations, as well as four seasons of radio plays for WordFest, and the award-winning animations Poor Billy: Chapter One, and The Legend of the Bunny Phantom. Christian makes his home in Calgary with his wife Kelly, and beautiful sons Simon and Clay.

After graduating with a B.A. in Economics, Peter reassessed his interests and made the decision to pursue his passion for audio and specifically sound design. This has led him to create immersive audio experiences that resonate with audiences. Whether it be enhancing a film project, or tailoring a

commercial to a client’s vision, the result is always a clean, impactful production. Subtle when necessary, or as “Hollywood” as it comes, his editing, sound design, and mixes scratch that aural itch. Recently he has embarked on a new challenge, balancing his love for audio with the love for his puppy, Branford.
