Alwar: Opposition BJP has targeted Con-gress over the issue of alleged conversion of a Hindu man in Alwar saying such incidents

are on the rise but the CM is not bothered.

BJP state president Satish Poonia said that Memchand was forced to convert to Islam and was tortured which hints towards a planned conspiracy for conversion in the state and the country.

He said that a case of Love Jihad has come to light in Hary-ana and now the case

of conversion has come up, which is alarming.

“Crimes against women and girls are increasing in the en-tire state including Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota, incidents of loot, robbery and murder are also increasing continuously which the Chief Minister has failed to stop. It is clear that the state has be-

come a crime capital,” he said.

LoP Gulabchand Ka-taria has said that those who are involved in anti-national works, have been encouraged under Congress gov-ernance in the state. Such elements may further promote un-rest in the coming days, he added.

Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra

Rathore, Alwar MP Baba Balaknath, BJP state general secretary Madan Dilwar and other leaders also con-demned the incident and targeted the Con-gress government.

nlike the old su-perpower con-test between the United States and the

Soviet Union, the incipient cold war between China and the US does not reflect a fundamental conflict of unalterably opposed ideol-ogies. Instead, today’s Si-no-American rivalry is popularly portrayed as an epic battle between autoc-racy and democracy.

Moreover, the facts seem to suggest that autocracy has won while democracy has fallen flat on its face. Whereas the US under President Donald Trump has fumbled disastrously during the COVID-19 pan-demic, China has brought the coronavirus under con-trol. In the US, even wear-ing face masks has been politicized. But in Wuhan, China – the pandemic’s original epicenter – the au-

thorities tested the city’s 11 million residents for the virus within ten days, in an astounding display of ca-pacity and order. For many, the verdict seems clear: au-thoritarianism is superior to liberal democracy.

But such a conclusion is simplistic and even danger-ously misleading, for three reasons. First, just as the US under Trump is not repre-sentative of all democracies, China under President Xi Jinping should not be held up as a paragon of autocra-cy. Other democratic socie-ties, such as South Korea and New Zealand, have han-dled the pandemic ably, and political freedom did not hobble their governments’ ability to implement virus-containment measures.

As for examples of autoc-racies that brought catas-trophe upon themselves, look no further than Chi-na’s recent history. No mod-

ern Chinese leader held more personal power than Mao Zedong, yet his abso-lute authority led to a mas-sive famine followed by a de facto civil war during the Cultural Revolution. Chaos is by no means unique to democracy; under Mao, it was insidiously deployed to maintain his power.

Second, there are democ-racies with illiberal fea-tures and autocracies with

liberal ones. America’s cur-rent troubles do not reflect a universal failure of de-mocracy, but rather the fail-ure of a democracy with the illiberal traits that Trump has brought to the presiden-cy. As commander-in-chief, Trump has ignored demo-cratic norms such as bu-reaucratic autonomy, the separation of private inter-ests and public office, and respect for peaceful protest.

If democracies can take an authoritarian turn, the reverse can be true in au-tocracies. Contrary to pop-ular belief, China’s econom-ic ascent after its market opening in 1978 was not the result of dictatorship as usual; if it had been, Mao would have succeeded long before. Instead, the econo-my grew rapidly because Mao’s successor, Deng Xi-aoping, insisted on temper-

ing the perils of dictator-ship by injecting the bu-reaucracy with “democrat-ic characteristics,” includ-ing accountability, competi-tion, and limits on power. He set an example by reject-ing personality cults. (Iron-ically, Chinese banknotes feature Mao, who despised capitalism, rather than Deng, the father of Chinese capitalist prosperity.)

As Carl Minzner points out, Xi, who became the paramount leader in 2012, has ushered in an “authori-tarian revival.” Since then, the official narrative is that because China has succeed-ed under centralized politi-cal control, this system should be maintained. In fact, under Deng, it was a hybrid political system married to a firm commit-ment to markets that moved China from poverty to mid-dle-income status.

stationary flow of foreign port-folio inflows and a rare current account surplus has led to In-dia’s foreign exchange reserves surging to $555.1 billion.

The significant growth in the reserves has sparked an often-heard debate about its utilization for economic uplift-ment at a time when the gov-ernment is facing a spending challenge due to stiff finances.

Owing to better-than-anticipat-ed quarterly results, the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have pumped in net Rs 17,749 crores.

THE RISE OF INDIA’S FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVESForex reserves of $555.1 billion are enough to cover 12 months of imports and they make for nearly 99% of India’s external debt of $555.8 billion. By most metrics, these reserves are more than ad-equate as the purpose of self-in-surance is fully served with so much accumulation.

PUTTING FOREX RESERVES TO A BETTER USEThe significant growth in the reserves has sparked an often-heard debate about its utiliza-tion for economic upliftment at a time when the government is facing a spending challenge due to stiff finances.

Most of India’s forex reserves have been accumulated on the back of capital flows over the years while the current account has remained in deficit due to large-scale imports. In the Q1 of FY21, India reported a one-off current account surplus due to very low imports as the Covid-19 pandemic had brought the world to a standstill. This surplus is not sustainable and therefore, the utilization of forex reserves (built from capital account sur-plus) for building infrastructure and other allied activities may not be appropriate.

A sustainable boost to ex-ports coupled with a persistent decline in imports can lead to a further rise in forex reserves due to current account surplus

and these can be used for ac-tivities other than maintaining safety and liquidity.

Can these “abundant” forex reserves be channelized for bet-ter returns? While using the reserves for spending activities could be a bad idea and set the wrong precedent, RBI can sure-ly ponder upon better return-generating products in these turbulent times.

A major proportion of foreign exchange reserves are invested by RBI into high-liquid assets such as Euro-dominated bonds and the US treasuries, with a small portion invested into gold. The US and European Countries have their policy rates at near-zero and the sovereign yields of some advanced economics have gone into the negative trajectory as well. Therefore, it makes more sense to consider diversifi-cation of the investable assets. Increasing gold reserves as a percentage of forex reserves can be one such better return-gener-

ating tool for the central bank. India, in particular, has a good scope of increasing gold re-serves as the RBI has followed a more conservative approach while investing forex reserves.

FPIS ON A BUYING SPREE IN OCTOBEROwing to better-than-anticipat-ed quarterly results, the for-eign portfolio investors (FPIs) have pumped in net Rs 17,749 crores in October with a net investment of Rs 15,642 crore in equities and Rs 2,107 crore in the debt segment.

Net buying by FPIs has brought cheer to the market par-ticipants as emerging markets like Thailand, Taiwan, Brazil, and South Africa are witnessing net outflows month-on-month. Apart from the quarterly results, the surplus liquidity in devel-oped markets and full resump-tion of business activities has kept the interest of FPIs intact.

Moreover, the accommoda-tive stance maintained by glob-al central banks could ensure foreign money flowing into the emerging markets.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a lasting effect on FPI flows in 2020. To add to the un-certainty, state elections in In-dia coupled with the US Presi-dential elections will make mar-kets more volatile, which could affect the FPIs participation.

NEW RECORD CASES FORCING GOVERNMENTS OVER THE GLOBE TO TAKE A STRICTER STANCE

After scheduling several rallies in the worst-hit counties in the US, President Donald Trump blamed the surge in testing for the rise in the number of daily cases to a record high of 83,000. New York and New Jersey have contributed the most to the newly reported cases of the vi-rus. Health emergency, extend-ed for another month, is under-way in New Jersey as the state reported the greatest number of cases since early May. While the fatality rate in the US is on the higher side, the chances of a pre-election stimulus have become increasingly low.

The European countries are expected to implement curfews more widely. France has report-ed record cases for three con-secutive days; the positive rate jumped by a percent to 16 per-cent on Friday. Italian Govern-ment is also deliberating tight-ening the curfew norms, which led to anti-curfew violent pro-tests by the public. The United Kingdom reported the fifth con-secutive day with daily cases exceeding 20,000; schools may be suspended if the cases continue the trend. The Spanish Govern-ment is pondering over declar-ing a national state of emergen-cy that would allow the authori-ties to impose stricter regula-tions over the public. While nearing the first-wave levels, Belgium’s reported cases have prompted the authorities to con-sider widening the curfew hours and closing the public places of utility such as theatres, fitness gyms, and museums.

MEHBOOBA MUFTI’S FLAG REMARK SPARKS OUTRAGE

ost-Gupkar-II declaration and Mehboo-ba Mufti’s remark that she won’t hold the Indian tricolor until the Jammu and Kashmir’s flag was restored the Central government dealt the mainstream po-

litical leaders another blow by omitting the phrase “permanent resident of the state” from Section 17 of Jammu and Kashmir Development Act. The omission means that people from any part of the country can now purchase urban land and enter into contract farming on agricultural land. The law also provides for setting up an industrial de-velopment corporation and removes curbs on the size of the area one wants to buy for constructing a residence or a shop in the Union Territory. Till now only those who were permanent residents could own property there. The Lieutenant-Gover-nor Manoj Sinha clarified that the new law will not apply to agricultural land. This move was expected after the abrogation of Article 370 which granted a special status to the status. The state’s bifurca-tion ended the privilege.

The decision has not gone down well with the top political leaders of the Union Territory who said that Kashmir has been put on sale. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Even the tokenism of domicile has been done away with… J&K is now up for sale & the poorer, small land-holding owners will suffer.” Another ex-CM Me-hbooba Mufti also condemned the new law.

INDIA AND US SCRIPT NEW STRATEGIC TIES

ndia and America have come a long way from the era of President Richard Nixon and Prime Minister Indira Gandhi when the US ordered the Seventh Fleet led by nuclear-powered Enterprise towards the

Bay of Bengal to stop Indian troops from liberating Bangladesh. Nixon and his National Security Advisor were known for their antipathy towards the Indian prime minister. Over the years ties between the two great democracies have been on the mend, but main-ly under governments led by the Bharatiya Janata Party because of its predisposition towards America.

India and the US began mutual trust-building ef-forts with the signing of the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) in 2002 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister. It was the first foundational understanding between the two nations. The signing of the Logistics Ex-change Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in 2016 and the Communication Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) in 2018 followed.

Tuesday’s Basic Exchange and Co-operation Agreement (BECA), signed by the defence and for-eign ministers of India and the US marked the fourth foundational understanding which America has with India. The last three agreements demon-strate the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi attaches to strategic defence ties with the US.

The strategic significance of BECA can be un-derstood from the fact that India will now get ac-cess to real-time access to precision data and topo-graphical images from US military satellites.

Keeping in mind China’s expansionist policies and the changing global security scenario, India’s defence establishment thought it prudent to deep-en its strategic ties with America for its security interests and peace.

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Opposi-tion and even went ahead to term the Ma-hagathbandan's chief ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, as "Yu-vraaj of Jungleraj" (Prince of Jungleraj). It is important to note that the era of former CM and RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav's rule in the state is often referred to as 'Jungl-reraj' by its opponents.

"I want to know from the people of Patna, I want to know from the people of Bihar, could Bihar dream of becom-ing an IT-hub in Jungle Raj? Whether 'Yuvraj of Jungle Raj', he can take Bihar forward in the field of IT, or in any area of modernity," PM Modi said at the rally held in Patna.

The Prime Minister attacked the RJD and said, "Who can fulfil the

aspirations of the poor of Bihar, this aspiration of the middle class of Bihar? People who made Bihar sick, looted

Bihar, can they do this work? Those who thought only of their family; Only NDA can do it." —ANI

Bettiah:Former Con-gress President Rahul Gandhi said on Wednes-day that effigies of Prime Minister Naren-dra Modi were burnt in Punjab on Dussehra, and not that of 'Ravan'. He said that burning the effigy of the Prime Minister was sad, but the youth are angry with him.

Addressing an elec-tion meeting in Val-mikinagar, Rahul praised Rashtriya Ja-nata Dal leader Tejash-wi Yadav, while target-ing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bi-har Chief Minister Nit-ish Kumar.

Rahul said that the goal of lockdown and demonetisation was the same. He said that in demonetisation, Modi took money out of your pocket and gave it to five big indus-trialists of the country and during the lock-down the business of small and medium scale businessmen came to a halt while the debts of the indus-

New Delhi: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij alleged the girl's par-ents were forced to take back the case registered against the accused due to pressure from Con-gress leaders

Haryana Home Min-ister Anil Vij Wednes-day alleged that the youth who killed his former classmate in Ballabhgarh is a rela-tive of Congress leaders and they were responsi-ble for dropping an FIR against him in 2018.

Tauseef, 21, was ar-rested on Tuesday along with his friend for alleg-edly killing his former classmate Nikita Tomar in broad daylight. Tomar’s family alleged Tauseef had been pres-suring her to marry him and had kidnapped her two years ago. The police said an FIR was registered against Tau-

seef, but was later canceled after Nikita’s father submitted he did not want any further investigation.

However, Vij allegeed that girl’s parents were forced to take back the case registered against the accused due to pres-sure from Congress leaders. “Accused is a relative of Congress leaders. The economic offenc-es watchdog, while op-posing the anticipatory bail plea in the High Court, had submitted that the agency had rea-son to believe that Sivasankar was the real beneficiary and ac-

It had also submitted that the investigation in the matter has revealed that Sivasankar was re-ceiving commissions for the gold smuggling and added that custodi-al interrogation is re-quired. —ANI

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday cau-tioned Army command-ers to be wary of Chi-nese actions at disputed borders and their intent during military talks.

The minister said this while addressing the 'Army Command-ers Conference,' an apex biannual event that formulates impor-tant policy decisions through collegiate de-liberations.

Border tensions with China at the Line of Ac-tual Control are the main focus of delibera-tions in this year's four-day conference.

Sources privy to the minister's address said Singh pointed out that talks should be held honestly and in an at-mosphere of trust to reach a solution. The

defence minister also hinted that there has been a trust deficit since Chinese intent has been questionable.

‘PM MODI DECISIVE & STRONG-WILLED’Scindia reserved his comments on former PM Manmohan Singh in whose Cabinet he has servedNew Delhi: Reserving his comments on for-mer PM Manmohan Singh in whose Cabinet he has served, BJP lead-er Jyotiraditya Scindia chose to rather praise PM Modi for being ‘de-cisive, strong-willed in-defatigable spirit to work for the country’.

The BJP leader has been maintaining si-lence on his former party. He reiterates that he won’t speak on his past and maintain dig-nity by being silent on issues pertaining to his former party.

The drive and will power, pledge towards decisiveness, and to work round the clock - our country will be prosperous under PM Modi.

Scindia criticised Congress for living in denial and refusing to see the writing on the wall. He was speaking

on Congress leader Sachin Pilot’s criticism of BJP during his elec-tion campaign in poll-bound MP.

“The problem with the Congress is the par-ty likes to live in denial and refuses to see the writing on the wall and it is only when you be-lieve in acceptance and reflect on your failures and chart a course to future success that you move forward. BJP un-der the leadership of PM Modi has fulfilled the aspirations of 130 crore Indians which is why once again they re-posed their faith in Modi and in Trimurti (PM Modi, Party chief JP Nadda, Union home Minister Amit Shah) as I would like to call them,” said Scindia.

SCINDIA QUES SONIA GANDHI’S SILENCE OVER ‘ITEM’ JIBENew Delhi: Jyotiradi-tya Scindia, who has missed no opportunity of slamming the Con-gress since joining the BJP, today criticised party chief Sonia Gan-dhi over her silence on Kamal Nath’s “item” remark that stirred a political row in MP

ahead of the bypolls. Imarti Devi, the wom-an targeted by Mr Nath, had appealed to Sonia Gandhi for ac-tion, questioning if she would have con-doned it had the re-mark been made about her daughter. CM Chouhan had also

written to her on the issue.

Asked whether Mrs Gandhi, being a wom-an, should have pulled up Mr Nath, Mr Scin-da said: “Though it is an internal matter, I certainly think so. 50% of the population comprises women,

every political party must set a standard”.

Kamal Nath, former CM of MP and Mr Scindia’s bitter rival, had stepped into con-troversy while cam-paigning in Dabra, where the BJP is rep-resented by Imarti Devi. —ANI

During his visit to Sawaimadhopur, where he appeared before a lo-cal court in a 10 year old case, Meena said that Jaskaur Meena has made objectionable statement against him and he should tender apology publicly.

Lashing out at the Dausa MP, Dr Kirori said that she has noth-ing to do with any party or ideology and she just cares for the post.

et from his party – RJP.Meena said that

Jaskaur Meena believes in politics of comfort and she never did strug-gle. In politics.

On the other hand, Jaskaur Meena reject-ed Dr Meena’s allega-tions that she has made any such statement against him.

She said that Meena is respectable for her. She said that the word which is being quoted is a commonly used word which is meant for those who keep switching sides for po-litical gain but it was beyond understanding why Dr Meena took it for him.

State government begins working on ‘oxygen therapy’ for Covid patientsVikas Sharma

Jaipur: Looking at the possibility of further rise in the number of corona-virus positive cases dur-ing the winter season, the state government has started working on ‘oxy-gen therapy’ for covid-19 patients in the state.

The state government has started prepara-tions for oxygen man-agement at the grass root level with the train-ing of doctors of PHC, CHC. A special training programme for oxygen therapy has been intro-duced for doctors.

The World Health Or-ganisation has also hint-ed that the cases may increase during the win-ter season and therefore, the state government has started its prepara-tions to deal with the

forthcoming situation.Since covid-19 pat-

ents require oxygen, the focus of experts in the state now is on ar-rangement of oxygen therapy for the patients.

The number of coro-navirus positive cases has come down over the last few days but doc-tors are expecting spurt in cases during winter and in such a situation, oxygen therapy may prove quite helpful.

The experts of SMS Medical College have de-signed an special online

training programme about the oxygen thera-py for doctors posted in rural areas. The anaes-thesia department has been given the responsi-bility of the training pro-gramme.

In Rajasthan, more than 36 lakh tests have been conducted and 1.89 lakh positive cases have been reported.

Malik-ana ‘haqq’ for charge-sheeting?Rajendra Chhabra

Jaipur: Charge-sheet-ing of Nagaur munic-ipal commissioner Jodharam, at the hands of Ajmer Divi-sional Commissioner Arushi Malik, has re-sulted in much tur-moil in the bureau-cratic circles. Even Local Self govern-ment minister Shanti Dhariwal objected to the same and ob-served that Division-al commissioner has no right to take ac-tion against any of-ficer of his depart-ment. Dhariwal said, “the divisional com-missioner has crossed all limits and the chief secretary should ensure that she does not do any similar act in the fu-ture.”

But there is other side of the coin as well. When Arushi was on a tour of Nagaur, she re-ceived several com-plaints against Jodhar-am and considering

the need for immediate action, she handed a charge-sheet to Jodhar-am without delay. This occurred after state government, through a special notification on February 18, 2020, gave powers to all divisional commissioners to take action under 17CC against civil servants in the division and therefore, Malik’s charge-sheet was in line with the special powers extended to the DCs.

Interestingly, Jodh-pur divisional com-missioner Samit Sharma has made a record of sorts in this matter as in the past three months, he

has handed not just one or two dozen, rather three thou-sand charge-sheets. Jodhpur is CM’s home division and no one is batting an eye-lid on Sharma’s ‘mar-athon actions’. There-fore, the uproar against Arushi’s single chargesheet has creat-ed divisions within the bureaucracy which is shell shocked.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that February 18 order is unclear and ambiguous. All said and done, as of now, Arushi hasn’t received any ‘message’ from the CS and the chargesheet against Jodharam stand as it is.

Lucknow: In what could be termed as a shock to BSP supre-mo Mayawati’s Rajya Sabha ‘dreams’, on Wednesday five legis-lators of her party withdrew their sup-port from BSP candi-date, Ramji Gautam, for the upper house of the Indian Parlia-ment. The MLAs claimed that their signatures, as propos-ers for Ramji’s name as party candidate, had been forged. Fol-lowing the jolt, the rebel MLAs once again met Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akh-ilesh Yadav, fueling speculations of them joining the party soon. The MLAs had earlier met the SP chief on Tuesday, a meeting arranged by MLC Udayveer Singh.

It is also being said

that two more BSP leg-islators may follow suit with the rebel MLAs and join the Akhilesh Yadav-led party. However, no of-ficial statement on the matter has been issued from either of the par-ties yet. Rebel MLAs Aslam Chaudhary, Aslam Rainee, Mujta-ba Siddiqui, Hakim Lal Bind and Govind Jatav held a closed-door meeting with the SP supremo on Wednesday to seek tickets from the party.

A day ago, Chaud-hary’s wife had also joined the SP.

The Samajwadi Par-ty had nominated Prakash Bajaj as an independent candi-date, following which voting for one seat was considered fixed, and after the BSP MLAs’ withdrawal of their names as proposers, Bajaj’s victory was considered almost cer-tain. However, late in the evening, a major surprise sprung up when Bajaj’s nomina-

tion was rejected while that of BSP’s Ramji Gautam’s nomi-nation was termed le-gal which has majorly dented SP’s game plan. The returning officer found several discrep-ancies in Bajaj’s nom-ination including wrongly spelt name and therefore his nom-ination was rejected. Interestingly, al-though the proposer’s for BSP candidate Ramji Gautam with-drew their support,BSP surprised the ‘re-bels’ by claiming that while the two sets have withdrawn, its third set is complete! Mean-while, it is believed that Bajaj will move High Court in the mat-ter, and if the court does not entertain his plea, then all the can-didates, including BSP’s Gautam, would be elected without op-position!

From P1

Interestingly there was an apparent dullness in Swarup’s body language as well on Wednesday. Notably, CM Gehlot made two phone calls to the ‘relevant people’ on Wednesday over the mat-ter but to no avail and it is believed that he will initiate the process for appointment of a new CS on Thursday. Probably, for now, Veenu Gupta could be given the addi-tional charge of CS since she, Usha Sharma, and Niranjan Arya are said to be front runner for the position but there is a fair chance of a woman being appointed CS this time. While everyone in-cluding state polity was waiting for a reply from the centre, no one had thought of the next pro-cess but it is believed that principal secretary to CM, Kuldeep Ranka has already done his ‘homework’ in this re-gard to be put up before the CM.

UPSC finalises 3 member panel for DGP, all eyes now on Gehlot!

Dr Rituraj Sharma

New Delhi: One of the most awaited an-nouncement for Ra-jasthan bureaucracy will be made in the next couple of days wherein the final name for the post of Director Gener-al of Police would be announced. The post is currently being held in acting capacity by DG (Crime) ML Lathar, who is touted to be the next DGP of the state, however, till Wednes-day the three member panel finalised by Un-ion Public Service Com-mission (UPSC) had not reached the state govt, although during the day a meeting was held

in UPSC where final panel was approved.

Even though the three names have been short-listed, formal an-nouncements of the names has not been made however, on the basis of seniority, it is safe to deduce, that names of ML Lathar, Rajeev Dasot and AK Mishra will be includ-ed. According to pro-cess, after the approval

of the minutes, the panel is sent to the state government in a sealed envelope. Once the en-velope reaches the state government, the CM is handed the same on the basis of which he gives the final nod to one name, after which final order for appointment of DGP is issued.

Highly placed sourc-es claim that Lathar is the front runner in the

race for the coveted post and since all hints point to the fact that his name would be included in the panel, he would be named as next DGP, a job he is currently car-rying out in acting ca-pacity after Bhupendr Yadav’s voluntary re-tirement and subse-quent appointment to Rajasthan Public Ser-vice Commissioner as its Chairman.

Speedy Justice being provided due to innovations, says Gehlot Naresh Sharma

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that the Rajasthan Police should prepare itself to curb the crimes commit-ted by misusing social media and cyber technol-ogy. “For the investiga-tion of such crimes, the police should set up a pool of expert police per-sonnel to reach the crim-inals,” Gehlot said while reviewing issues related to law and order and crime control at the Chief Minister’s resi-dence on Wednesday night.

The Chief Minister said that with innova-tions like women help desk, reception hall, stu-

dent self-defense skills scheme, quick disposal of cases, FIR registra-tion in police stations, establishment of RajCop Citizen App, Command and Control Center, Cy-ber Training Lab, the common people are re-

ceiving speedy justice. “In order to enable the

public to go to the police stations without any fear and file an FIR, instruc-tions were issued in May last year that complaints of every complainant should be lodged in the

police stations. The re-sult of this decision is that according to NCRB figures, registration of FIR in the state has in-creased,” he said. It was informed at the meeting that the Cabinet Sub-Committee has sum-moned Colonel Kirodi Singh Bainsla and other members of the Gurjar Reservation Conflict Committee to Jaipur for talks on Thursday.

It was informed at the meeting that 979 master technicians have been prepared and 4 thousand 38 thousand girls and 28 thousand 236 women have been trained for self-defense against in-novations against fe-male crimes.

BJP’S DOUBLE AGENTS!

The seriousness of any upcoming politician is

measured by the public by his ability to get works done and more so at the time when the ‘political environment’ is not conducive to the politician. Since politics is all about survival, it would not be wrong in the eyes of many to make friends in the ‘opposite side’ to get some work done and in return provide some information to the rival party. Well, it appears that two

small time politicians of the saffron party have actually realized that ‘information’ is key to survival and the duo are now playing the role of a ‘double agent’. without fail the duo reach the BJP headquarters where they pay their ‘respects’ to senior leaders and generally who ever they come across and after spending some time and gathering the ‘news’ about the party, the duo take leave and head straight to meet a well known Congress leader from Jaipur where they share

the details, talk on various topics in detail and then make their ‘move’ of handing a few works that they want to get done to shine their ‘politics’. the Congress leader, knowing all, obliges a little and gets the work done to keep them in tether hooks so that they bring more news of the rival party! —Aishwary Pradhan

this critical phase has been liked by not just his peers but even the junior politicians as well. During the ‘Sanwad’ program held on Monday, where the chief minister spoke at length with several participants, Dr Poshwal from Jhalwar, while praising Gehlot, said, “Even the God knows that there is Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan, hence he keeps ‘shok’ (sorrow) away from Rajasthan and that is why the people are assured of Corona treatment too.” —Naresh Sharma

As far as I am concerned this was one of the finest performanc-es by Raj Kapoor and Waheeda, understated, dignified and heart rendingly realistic. Both of them did full justice to their characters, of a rustic bullock cart owner and a nautanki performer.

The film is based on Phanish-war Nath’s short story Mare Gaye Gulfam and surprisingly fared

poorly when released. The film beautifully captures the rural ethos, many shots and the play of light remind me of Bimal Roy. The love story of Hiraman and Hirabai unfolds like a flower in the early

morning as the rays of the sun fall on it. Raj Kapoor as Hiraman won me over with his simple rustic charm and Waheeda as Hirabai, his wistful lover gives a remarka-ble performance bringing a sensi-

tivity to her role and shining it with her amazing dance perfor-mances.

The movies and the songs flow effortlessly together. Sajanre Jhoot Mat Bolo, Sajanwa Bairi Ho Gaye Hamar, Duniya Bananewale and Pan Khaye Saiyan Humaro, each song is a classic.

One of my favourite scenes is when Waheeda cooks for him but he won’t relent enough to eat. She bares her heart to him and he melts, sitting down to pour his heart out when suddenly the nau-tanki music is heard loudly out-side! Oh! The bite of reality on the face of Raj Kapoor! The climax where a beautiful tragic Waheeda says “Main bik chuki hun Hira”, still breaks my heart. And when a heart broken Raj Kapoor comes back to his bullocks and raises a whip to make them move, he hears Waheeda’s voice “maaro mat” and turns to look inside his cart, which shows a receding train carrying her away from him through the open tarpaulin. What a scene! And then he takes the Teesri Kasam!

PINJAREwali Muniya

This Throwback Thursday, City First undertakes the journey of Teesri Kasam on a bullock cart swayed and soothed by the melodious songs of this poetic film!

s hair is consid-ered the ‘crown we never take off ’ its only natural for us to want flawless locks. But very of-ten we find our-

selves battling dry, rough, dull hair or even premature greying and baldness. So how do we right the severe-ly dehydrating wrong done by the arid climate of Ra-jasthan? By adopting 5000 year old, tried and tested, Ayurvedic beauty regimes.

Often chemicals used in hair products have harmful effects on our vision, endo-crine and nervous system, as toxins enter our blood-stream via dermal absorp-tion. That’s a huge price to pay for treatments that can be superficial, inadequate and temporary at best. The Ayurvedic approach on the other hand is fundamen-tally holistic and 100% nat-ural. It aims at identifying the root cause of damage, which is usually far be-neath the surface.

Ayurveda identifies hair as a byproduct of bone tis-sue. When the quality of nutrition available for bone formation is compromised, the quality of hair suffers. Nourishing your hair and scalp through diet, Ayurve-dic herbs, and oils along with stress management will not just promote healthy lustrous hair, but can also support a calm, balanced mind. Lets take a closer look at some of these remedies.

1.HEALTHY HAIR THROUGH A NOURISHING DIET

The primary source of Prana or life force comes from the food we eat; it di-rectly impacts our tissue

growth and cellular quality. Certain nutrient rich foods like organic dairy, carrots, beets, green leafy vegeta-bles, healthy fats like nuts, seeds and Ghee are particu-larly supportive of healthy hair.

2.STRESS MANAGEMENT AND BEAUTY SLEEP

When the body is in a state of chronic stress (like during a pandemic) the de-preciative effect makes bone tissue particularly vulnerable by robing its nu-tritional requirements. Stress becomes a primary cause of hair woes, as bone tissue is unable to spare nu-trition for its by-product in question. Restful sleep and relaxation will reduce stress and promote opti-mum tissue nutrition. Just 15 minutes of regular Pra-nayama practice can radi-cally improve our overall wellbeing.

3.MIRACLE POTIONS OF AYURVEDIC HERBS AND OILS

What we apply on our scalp immediately enters our body through dermal absorption. So while it is a good idea to steer clear of toxic chemicals, it is also important to opt for in-tensely nourishing herbs. The most effective Ayurve-dic herbs for scalp and hair are -

BRAHMI: Perhaps the most important nervine herb used to revitalize brain cells and the nervous system. It balances the right and left hemispheres

of the brain, while improv-ing concentration and of course hair health.

BHRINGRAJ : the “ruler of hair” is naturally rejuve-nating and anti aging which makes it control greying and baldness. When applied as oil on the scalp it calms the mind and promotes sound sleep. In many ways it is similar to Brahmi.

AMLA – an intensely reju-venating Ayurvedic herb that rebuilds and maintains new tissues leading to soft-er, smoother hair.

HIBISCUS FLOWER - It helps purify the blood, promoting skin clarity and hair growth.

FENUGREEK – a good herb-al food to prevent hair fall and thinning.

All of these herbs are now commonly available and can be mixed with warm carrier oils like sesa-me or coconut oil; alter-nately readymade oil decoc-tions can be purchased from reliable and certified brands.

Yogurt deserves special

mention for being a great hair mask. Packed with nu-trients like Riboflavin (re-vives dull hair), Niacin (prevents hair loss), Biotin (restores damaged hair) and Vitamin B12 (boosts hair growth and keeps dan-druff away) yogurt is a great food for hair. Use it as a hair pack, amplify its ben-efits by adding powdered herbs or simply include it in your regular diet for healthy hair and scalp.

The combination of a nu-tritive diet, restful sleep, stress free living, regular oil massages and the strate-gic use of Ayurvedic herbs will support optimal physi-cal and mental health, radi-ant beauty and a vibrant sense of wellness in every aspect of your life.

KIM RETURNS!

The hype around Am-azon Prime Video’s ‘Mirzapur 2’ was on an all-time high af-

ter the huge success of the first season, which ended on a cliffhanger. Ardent fans of the action crime drama waited for close to two years to know the fate of the main characters.

After the huge success of Mirzapur 2, In an exclu-sive interview with City First, the actors shared how the second season of ‘Mirzapur’ became heavy for them in certain scenes.

Not just that their char-acters’ arcs are as dramat-

ic but they hold their own in this extremely patriar-chal world. The leading ladies, Rasika Dugal and Harshita Gaur revealed the interesting develop-ments and the transition that their characters – Bee-na Tripathi and Dimpy, undergo, and what attract-ed them to this fictional ‘world of goons’.

While Dugal says she ex-tremely happy with the way Beena “flourishes” in the second instalment. “At the end of season one, you see how my character has been violated and humili-ated. Season two starts at a point where you see her trying to deal with that and finding herself. It’s a beautiful journey. When I saw that in the script I was very happy because I had not expected that they

would spend time on my character,” says the ac-tress.

While Isha Talwar (Mad-huri) expressed her happi-

ness on being called “Na-tional Crush”, she says, “The creators have touched upon how they reach the point of revenge

and that has made Mad-huri’s journey extremely fascinating as she falls for Munna’s character.”

On asking Priyanshu

Painyuli (Robin) about his character, he said, “The love and reaction I received for my character was beyond imagination. Especially my stories of my mom unfold in a humorous way and my takiya kalam, ‘Ye bhi theek hai’ is on everyone’s lips.”

When asked about how the actors relate their reel life character with real

life’s, Dugal said, she is to-tally the opposite and least manipulative while Har-shita told how her reel and real-life character is simi-lar in terms of her equa-tion with her father.

Well, all the actors re-mained silent about the third season, we couldn’t find out who will rule Mir-zapur!.
