The Scientific Forum of UAQU “Tolerance on Zayed’s Approach”

The Cultural Center in Umm Al Quwain hosted the forum of Umm Al Quwain University entitled “Tolerance on Zayed’s Approach” which was held on Wednesday, April 17, as part of the events of the year of Tolerance in the UAE.

The Forum was under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, with the participation and presence of HE Aisha Laitim, Member of the Federal National Council, Chairman of Umm Al Quwain Businesswomen Council academics and representatives of the local departments.

Dr. Galal Hatem, Chancellor of Umm Al Quwain University, said that the forum aimed to emphasize the long history and originality of tolerance in the UAE, and that it is the approach of the UAE leadership.

The foundations laid by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May Allah Save His Soul, have made the UAE a symbol of global tolerance, and this tolerance approach has continued with His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chancellor of the State, may God protect him.Dr. Hatem added that the University seeks through these scientific events to highlight its scientific role and reflect it on society. UAQU’s multi-national community, including the students, administrators and academics represents a model of coexistence and tolerance.

The forum included two interactive dialogues, about the different aspects of tolerance, presented by a group of specialists in the fields of law economics, environment, language and media.The first panel discussion discussed tolerance from the legal aspect, and conformity many legislations with the value of tolerance, as well as the language aesthetics in tolerance.

Dr. Younis Al Garalla, a lecturer in General Education Department, reviewed "The Aesthetics of Arabic language in demonstrating the concept of tolerance".

“Tolerance from the Legal Perspective and Strengthening the value of tolerance in legislation” was the focus of HE Dr. Ibrahim Obaid Al Ali Chancellor of the Federal Court of Umm Al Quwain. Dr. Raad Adham al-Samarrai, Dean of Law College at Umm Al Quwain University, spoke about the concept of tolerance between natural and positive laws".At the second session of the forum, the Emirati writer, Aisha Sultan Al-Falasi and Dr. Haitham Abdulrahman Al-Samarrai, Dean of the mass communication at the Umm Al Quwain University raised the theme, tolerance from the media perspective.

At the third session, the two topics, "The relationship between tolerance and sustainability of environment in the UAE" and "The relationship between tolerance and economic prosperity in the UAE" were presented by Dr. Sonia Singh and Mr. Abdullah Farouq, head of Admissions and Registration Department.

UAQU Celebrates Cultures during the Open Day

For the third year in a row, Umm Al Quwain University in Umm Al Quwain organized an open day. Students from 11 nationalities, grouped in six wings participated in the event to reflect their cultures and traditions.TOEFL International, IBT, Examinations Center was also opened at the University.

The opening was attended by His Excellency Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, Dr. Galal Hatem, Chancellor of the University, academic and administrative staff, and the University students. Cultural and educational diversity is considered as the main feature of the open day, and the most prominent and influential. This variety is the fertile source for enriching the human culture through the direct and continuous interaction between different cultures.

UAQU organizes such events in order to strengthen the ties between these communities, in addition to, enhancing the students’ role in exposing the traditional, social, and artistic cultures of their peoples, and refining their talents through their contributions to these events which create an attractive cultural image reflecting the wonderful diversity of dazzling arts, music, food, clothes, costumes and cultural products of the students communities .

Dr. Galal Hatem, Chancellor of the University, said that such activities aim at emphasizing the cultural diversity, celebrating the students’ and their colleagues’ cultures, and highlighting the various cultural traditions in order to improve the spirit of social and cultural relationships between the multicultural students.In addition to enhancing the concept of tolerance among them, being one of the values laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in building the Emirati society.

He added that the University, represented by the student center, provided the necessary support to its students to have such successful celebration . He also stressed that this event is an opportunity to explore the students talents which reflect culture and heritage of their nations including artistic and cultural displays and folk dances.

Dr.Hatem appreciated the participants’ fruitful cooperation during the open day, and their efforts to make the ceremony a success. He expressed his hope that this cooperation will be documented, and held annually, reflecting the best example of harmony between the citizens and residents.

UAQU holds the «Innovation …national strategy« seminar

In the frame of strategic partnership with Umm Al Quwain Police, the Umm Al Quwain University «UAQU« held a seminar on the strategies of innovation.

The seminar was held under the theme «Innovation …national strategy« and was attended by the members of teaching & administrative staffs of «UAQU« and its students, while the speaker was the Colonel Sultan Al Shamsi, Head of Innovation Committee, at Umm Al Quwain Police, who explained the concept, methodologies & tools of innovation, & how to gauge the same.

Colonel Al Shamsi also highlighted the role of UAE wise leadership in supporting the innovation &providing an innovative ambience, and reviewed the national strategy for innovation, which aims to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries all over the world. He also displayed local & global models &experiences in

innovation.This seminar aims to create an environment which stimulates innovation, entrepreneurialism & the spirit of exploration upon «UAQU« students, guides them to benefit from innovation, strengthens their self- confidence, helps them gaining unique skills in planning, searching, and communicating, and boosts their competitive status.Professor Galal Hatem, the Dean of «UAQU«, underlined the distinguished role played by Umm Al Quwain Police, under the leadership of its Commander-in- chief, Major General Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmad Al Mualla, in disseminating the culture of innovation via holding these events that embody the existing partnership between «UAQU« & Umm Al Quwain Police Headquarters, and contribute to instill the drive to innovation in the minds of students, as an interpretation of «UAQU« message in the modernization of its students' abilities through seminars that keep pace with the latest developments in the field of innovation.

In his turn, Colonel Sultan Al Shamsi stated that these events come in tandem with the vision and strategy adopted by UAE in innovation, and strengthen the efforts aiming to establish the culture of innovation throughout the UAE community.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Professor Galal Hatem presented a memorial armor to Colonel Sultan Al Shamsi, as an appreciation&gratitude for his role in spreading the culture of innovation & for participation in this valuable seminar that stressed the strategic partnership between «UAQU«&Umm Al Quwain Police Headquarters.

He said that the Authority is keen to empower government employees, and qualify them to keep up with the latest developments in labor market during the twenty-first century and its requirements and rapid changes. This will enhance the global leadership of UAE in terms of government efficiency and achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership of the country represented by the president H. H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan may God save and bless him. And H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dr. Al Awar pointed out that Maarif aims to ensure reliable training for all federal government employees, and cover training needs in line with the requirements of the training and development system of federal government employees. And that will achieve financial abundance of training budgets in federal agencies, and thus benefit as many employees as possible, In addition to enhancing efficiency and productivity, creating an attractive and stimulating work environment in government, and facilitating selecting training courses electronically according to predetermined time frames.

His Excellency Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of Umm Al Quwain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, praised the role of the General Authority for Human Resources in enhancing the cooperation agreements with academic institutions to prepare and qualify the federal government employees. He said that the authority seeks to meet aspirations and ambitions of the wise leadership in investing human capital which is considered the heart of sustainable development.

"He added that Attracting leading institutions such as UAQU will open new horizons for those who would like to complete their university study,or get vocational training courses. And that will support creative skills and motivate young the innovative sense of employees, in line with national endeavors to achieve strategic objectives." Emirates for innovation and upgrading the performance and efficiency of human cadres working in the federal government through a series of training and academic programs provided by the University based on a smart ,innovative and flexible methodology, away from the concept of traditional methods, ensuring keep pace with the rapid changes imposed by the digital age.

Agreement between UAQU and the Federal Authority for HumanFederal Authority for Human Resources has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Umm Al Quwain University in Umm Al Quwain to benefit from the services, education, training and development programs offered by the University in developing the skills of federal government employees and Improve their efficiency, performance and productivity.

The authority was represented by its Director General His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Abdul Mannan Al Awar , while His Excellency Humid Rashid Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Umm Al Quwain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University represented the University.

The memorandum sought to build collaboration between the authority and the University in fields of education, training and developing capacities of the employees of ministries and federal agencies, and improve their performance and professional competence.

Under this memorandum, the University will join "Maaref ” of preferred training partners of launched by the authority in 2013 aiming to List the best training providers in UAE and place them at the service of ministries and federal agencies.

According to the agreement, the University will provide a variety of programs, general and specialized educational solutions and training courses with competitive prices to the federal government employees in order to enhance their capabilities. These courses will be offered through “Maaref” where employees will be able to communicate directly with the ministries and federal agencies that would like to train their employees, and receive the nominated attendees of the courses provided by UAQU.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Director General of the Authority, said that the memorandum aims to enhance the human capital capabilities of the federal government and improve its efficiency by providing innovative, reliable and vocational training by a distinguished academic institution like the Umm Al Quwain University.

Umm Al Quwain Executive Council prepares for the “fifty” with personal guidance sessions for government employees

The Administration of Governmental Leadership and Capabilities at the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Umm Al Quwain concluded the Coaching Sessions for all the employees of Umm Al Quwain government, which were presented by the trainer Mr. Abdullah Hamdan Al Junaibi.Mrs. Fatima Buharoun, Director of the Government Leadership and Capabilities Administration, stated that those sessions were held with the aim of measuring the impact of the training on the performance of the employees of Umm Al Quwain government sectors. The sessions also aimed at analyzing their needs closely and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the employees in order to develop their personal and professional traits.Mrs. Buharoun. also emphasized that the initiatives of the Administration of Government Leadership and Capabilities aim to meet the goals and aspirations of the Umm Al Quwain government and work to keep pace with the vision of the UAE government and prepare for the next fifty years by developing the competencies of employees.The sessions were very well received by all employees who demanded that those sessions ought to continue on a regular basis due to their positive impact.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, directed the allocation of 10 full scholarships at Umm Al Quwain University to male and female students first students Class twelve at the state level.The directives came from His Highness’s continuous support for creative and distinguished students, to encourage them to further scientific excel-lence and to motivate them to complete their university studies in the Bache-lor programs offered by Umm Al Quwain University in various disciplines within an educational environment that motivates them for innovation and creativity, and enhances their leadership skills.

The Ruler of Umm Al Quwain directs to allocate10 scholarships for the first students of high schools.

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Umm Al Quwain University opened its gate for the first time at the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain in 2013/2012, and the start point was given to spark a new dawn in the Emirate. And open the door for those wishing to complete their higher education.The start was not that easy. When the registration and admission process was announced in the college for the first time, only three students enrolled in business administration department. Those three students are now considered our initiation, and they were the first heart pulse in the educational process at UAQU. And in order to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla to provide the best educational services, the name of Umm Al Quwain University began to appear among the best universities in the country.Students, from all Emirates, came to join the university for completing their university education. The total number of students in the college has exceeded 500 students, from 19 nationalities.
