INTRODUCTION.

As it may be neceffary to mention why the pub~

lilher of the following letter, upon the Prayers ofthe Church of England, and other particulars, shouldemploy his time to pub1ifh them to the world:his answer is, that it being his firm belief that thevarious Communications are given according towhat is mentioned in the New Testament of thecoming of the Spirit, in the 3d chapter of St. John,Sth verse. And the reader may see they can onlyproceed from the Spirit of Wisdom, to lead meninto the true knowledge of the Bible, which is no\vabout to be fulfilled in the establifhment of Christ'speaceable Kingdom on earth. It is necessary toobserve, that when that Divine Being came uponearth, and dwelt amongst men, he was born ofthe Virgin Mary, of the Holy Ghost, without ahuman Father; he took on him the likeness ofman in his fallen state; and bore the blame caston him by man, agreeably to the 12th verse ofthe 3d chapter of Genesis, in order for Iran to berestored to tire likeness of his Creator. - All thismust be accomplished in the end. order; and cannot be manifested to man in his Own

essence, but through some medium according tohuman order, which was the man Christ Jeb ~

for near 6000 years; as is proved by both ancient

a~d modern history, and by our daily experience.Smce ~o .person whatever can deny this lamentabletruth, It IS every man's business to enquire into the

cause. The Bible not only points out the calISe

dom, and a being of gross darkness; which iiitnlly described in the sixth book of Joanna South

cott's Prophecies, publilhed January 2, !802, whi.cllcannot be read with too serious attention; for there

the whole is explained, and the truth completely

estahlished; which ~one but· a God could know;

and none but a God could reveal. This importan~

book, as well as all her other writings, proves, that

at the second coming of Christ, it must be in Spi

rit, to bring in the whole creation to the know

ledge of wisdom.It is the fashion of tbe present age to deny every

thing but outward nature: all spiritual wisdom andmiracles are denied; but as all created things must

have a beginning, man and woman must be created3t first by a superior Being of divine Love, by his

divine Wisdom; which man in his fallen state ofnature cannot comprehend. Therefore the origin

of man ma.y be called a miracle, having no human

father as he could 1101' create himself. Any ;:~rions ;bo choose to deny this first cause, or miracle,of human creation, haye nothing more to do than to

deny their own existence. Since the crimes of manconvince us that he has lost his he.wenly image andlikeness; and experience proves, as he cannot restore

himself, none but a Di\'ine Po:ver can. Threfore it is only his Creator who can be his Hedeemer;

which may be called a second miracle; and this

brings us to the birth of Christ, who is called the

iecond Adam, having no human father, but born ofthe Holy Ghost.-Here the axe may be said to havebeen laid to the "001 of el·il, to destroy it altogether.

But we find el"il still remainli; for war, murder, and

wy kind; for it is by guilt alone that the suspicionof guilt bas its beginning. We knolV by naturalreason, that no person whatever can suspect a thingthat he believed never existed; exactly so must itbe with the parents of the human race. If it be believed by every Christian Church, that th'e' know_

ledge of evil came through the woman, who candeny, from the authority of the Bible, tllat theknowledge of the good must not be at last conveye,1through the same means; and for the woman inthe end to be the helpmate to man, agreeably todivine promise at her creation; and as the whole human race was tainted by evil,and brought into miscry,the whole human race must be redeemed from thatslate by a Divine Power-w hich must be tbe Spiritof Jesus Christ, the ocly true Spirit of Prophecy.It is from tbis Spirit that Joanna Southcott writes;for of all her productions, from J792, to this da)',many have come true, and the rest are daily fulfilling. I have read. I have reflected, I have takeneV'ery pains to find out imposition, and her character I have found to be without deception; neither

has she talents or abilities to deceive.I have the natural pride of man, and bave no de

sire to be an object of ridicule; but whatever painor mortification the pride of character, or reputation, may produce in me, it is my superior duty toadhere to truth. The mockery of the world Imust eudure; the pity of my friends, who woul~

As the light spreadsforth-human learning must disappear, where itdoes not promote the 10"e of God abo"e all things,and of our neighbours as ourselves.-All the Imman race are now invited to be brethren, and tolove one another; for -every difficulty will be re

moved.The Communication upon the Church Prayers,

which is now recommended to public notice,was written at Oldswinford in Worcestershire, atthe house of that faithful friend to the truth, the Rev.T. P. Foley, where Joanna resided for above n\omonths. The Communication was gi,'en in answerto another clergyman of the cstabli hed Church.It is to be understood, that !he WOlnan bere mentioned has been writing for many years l)ast, from aSpirit jnvisible: and what that Spirit is, the worldmust judge; hmve\'er, by rC'lding her wrirings, andcomparing thcm with the I 'lth chapter of the Re"elations, her character will tbere be found, at the firstve~e.-Some such character must come forth: shehas written upon various parts of the Old and ~ewTestament; and many of her communications have

The Church Prayers were composed upwards of250 years ago--and it is very remarkable, it is men.tioned in several parts of Joanna's writings, that theProtestant Church is so highly favoured on accountof the purity of tbo Prayers, that its ministers willbe the means of bringing forth the Divine Knowledge from her pen; and which will go forth to thoWHOLE WORLD. But the English 110t;on will be thefirst redeemed: it is in this country that tlu: sealingof the people has beg , and perhaps may end aboutthe 12th of January, 1804. It is required fromDivine Authority, that everyone who receives llisSeal wil1 sign his Name, that it is the desire of hisheart for Christ's glorious and peaceable Kingdomto be established and come upon earth, and his willto be done pn earth as it is in heaven; and Satan'skingdom to be destroyed, which is the defiire andprayer of Joanna Southcott, :Ind of every one whosigns with his hand; for a time must come whenthere can be no security, but in the divine Power ofChrist, whose love invites evCiY man to claim thispriviledge, which is his birthright ffom his mercifulCreator, lind are now invited to stand like Godsto claim their own, and then command the earth;-GOD AT FIRST CREATED MAN TO BE IMMOR.TAr;" AND MADE HIIII AN IIIfAGlI OF HIS OWl{ETERNITY,

ON THE CALrImSTIC METHODISTS.

THE following is an extract of a letter from Joanna, inanswer to one sent to ber, of tbe meaning of tbe SevenSpirits, or Stars, in the Revelations, which formed tbesubject ofa Sermon lately delivered by a papularpreacber,who is of the opinion of John Calvin, tbat a part only ofthe Human Race are elected to Salvation. This beliefis received by a numerous sect of people called Methodists, and wbich totally destroys all charity in the humau heart, both to God and man. In their Public Wor•ship they praise tbeir Maker for electing them, andthem onl y. to eternal life and happiness, and are quiteinsensible and indiffere'1t to the fate of so\lls, whosenumbers may be compared to the sands on the sea shore,thus brought into being by a decree ef their Creator forno other purpose but to suffer eternal Torments, Thepieachers of this horrid doctrine, some of whom hal'egot themselves into the Church, are called popul3rpreachers. Many have spread themselves into everypart of the kingdom; they are to be found in every cityand country village. whilst the Clergy of tbe ~stahlisb

ed Cburch are quite regardless of tbeir flock, and sufferthem to be carried away by these wolves in sbeep'sc!oathin~,-As it is by neglect of duty ill the ChurchClergy, that these people have encreased and spreadthemselves every where; tberefore, if the ClerICY of theChurch do not rouse from that state of idleness, duringthis las! hour, tbeir end may prove fatal to tbeir peaceand happiness,-These preachers, called j\fethodists, asthey monopolize the Grace of God and Heaven to tbemselve<, they of course must make the Bible, called the\Yord of God, to be written for them only. entirely excluding all mankind from the benefit of Salvation IIfldR<:dempti,.n by Christ.-They say tbe Bible, both Oldand. profess to have MY Spirit, that cannot discern thethings that are revealed by MY Spirit, when tlleyhave no Spirit of mine to discern them? So they

do not serve ME in spirit or in truth: for to serveME in truth, they must maintain MY Bible is thetrue written Word of God: fori said, the Words ofGod, and the prophets, should be fulfilled before

this gcneration pass away, which I meant was underthe Fall. ow if they served ME in truth, theywould search the Scriptures, as I command them;and shew their flock how fast tlley were fulfilling,from signs ;md "ision ; from prophecies true, andprophecies false; and from the truth of MY Gospel;

that as all things appeareth together, they mayknow the end is near, that I shall come to take vengeance on all them that call not upon MY Name,and those "hose names are not found written in theBook of Life, to live in ME, and ha\'e ME to reignover them; that they rna)' serve ME in spirit and intruth. For the day is coming that shall burn as all.oven: and all that despise MY Kingdom, being establishe(l on earth, shall be burnt up like stubble.For I taught them to pray, that MY l{ingdom mightcome, and MY Will to be done in earth, as it is inheaven. Now, if they served ME in truth, theywould lay all these things before ilieir hearers, thatthey might learn to escape all the evil.s that are coming upon the earth; if they served ME iLl ttuth,they would not trust to their own wisdom. explained with the woman's jointure in marriage,that if she gave it up, it was tei save her husbandfrom prison, or death; but if men put him to deatllfirst, would you not call the woman a fooi to giveup her jointure afterwards, to such malicious enemies? Here is the parable temporally; but now letus weigh it spiritually: the debt was the debt of sin,from the transgressi n of the Fall,--5atan workedin the hearts of men, to have our blessed Saviourput to death to pay the debt for man; then now remains the promised bond given to the Woman, tobruise Satan's head. Then does not justice cillfor the fulfilment of the one, as the vengeance andmalice of men and devils fulfilled the other? For hethat sheweth no mercy, shall have judgment without mercy; and no mercy was shewn to our dearand dying Saviour! And shall we now wi h to shew

cy to such a Serpent, that has stung both himand us? If we look at our dying Lord, love willcall us to wish to see him triumph over death, hell,and the grave, and put all his enemies under hisfeet, and fulfil the Promise that he made in theFall: for if his love was to wash away our guilt,ought not our 10\'e to ask Satan's destruction fOl'what he has ,spil t?
