Dear Mr. Waldman:

Treasurer Arthur M. Lamport

Associate TreasurersAbraham L. Liebovitz Louis Rimsky

In view of certain statements that have recently been made by the Revisionists in reference to the national funds, which are incorporated in the United Palestine Appeal, I am sending you herewith a statement describing the relation of the Revisionists to these national funds. The statement clearly reveals that the funds of the United Palestine Appeal are distributed in Palestine solely on the basis of need, and that at no time is origin, political creed or social philosophy considered in relation to the distribution of funds.

Gentlemen,

I have given long and careful consideration to your request, made in the course of my recent visit to New York, that I make arrangements for repaying the loans which the Presidency had made last summer to the Jesuern Continental Jewish Publications, in the spring and the summer of 1940. After surveying all circumstances,I am sorry to say that I did not find the slightest chance of finding the money to do so. As you know, the+ 4°UX!Xf0r the s01e Purposd of publishing

The secretary,Zionist Revisionist Organization of United States and Canada,33 Union Square,NEW YORK CITY. U.S.A.

Dear Sir,

The Public Relations Committee of the New South Wales Jewish Advisory Board, which is the recognised body for Jewish public work in New South Wales, decided some months ago to establish a Bureau of Jewish Affairs.

The objects of this Bureau will be to collect statistics and information on the economic and social structure of the Jewish population of New South Wales, to collect material on the contribution of Jews to the War Effort and to carry out the work planned by the Public Relations Committee in counteracting anti-Semitism.

It is intended to organise this work on a scientific basis, disclosing to the New South Wales population, both Jews and Gentiles,.the real aspect and menace of modern anti-Semitism, exposing it as the forerunner and the stepping stone of Fascism, as the mortal enemy of democracy, of the principles of liberty, justice and of social progress, and - last but not least - as the initial expression of Fifth column tactics and activities.

The Bureau was opened in July 1942 and is now approaching important Jewish organisations of Great Britain,"of the United States, of Palestine and of the Dominions, with the purpose of exchanging material, suggestions and information on Jewish questions of general interest,,

The Bureau of Jewish Affairs in Sydney is the first communal institution of its kind in Australia and it is intended to link it up as closely as possible with Jewish representative bodies in the free countries of the World.

We shall appreciate it very much if you will kindly forward us

Dear Mr. Mandelbaum:

As X have promised you, I am writing to you concerning Important problems which we are trying to solve.

As you know, Secretory of State, Cordell Hull proclaimed that nations whioh have no government of their own are invited to join the United Nations in the common struggle against Nazis and their Allies, You can appreciate the importance of recognition of the Jewish people as a member of the Waited Nations. This 18 being carefully planned and furthered with the support of many American leaders* Similar action hes begun in Sngland, in Palestine, in South Africa and in several South American countries.

Parallel to these actions, preparations are being made for th• post-war resettlement of uprooted European Jewry in Itolestlne, As the first etep in this direction, we are mobilising in A *erica and other countries political as well as financial support. Over a hundred lead- ing American senators, economists, congressmen, governors, mayors, and writers have joined an American Resettlement Committee organized by us.Thia most important work cannot be cheaply publicised in the newspanera and I am writing to you about them most confidentially.

You yourself can raelizs that to carry on all these activities, ws need considerable fundo. It is my sincere hope to have your help, as I know well that you are deeply interested in our Jewiah national problems. Please make your check payable to the New Zionist Organization of America, and mail it to the office of the organisation.

Expecting to hear from you, I am,

Sincerely yours,

Dear Netanyahu:Your telegram arrived the other day. Needless to

On the otner nana, imagine tte! UaMillan's will be very much disturbed at the delay In any ease, please try to get yourself In readiness to conclude this matter before the end of the present month.

I enjoyed very much doing this work with you,I look forward with oleasure to a resumption of it. in case there are any matters that you think I ought to look up in reference books, you should communicate them to me iS writing before I come to New York. Here ail library facilities are in easy reach; this is not the case in New York.

I shall expect, therefore, within the next couple of weeks definite word from you about the date o! our next meeting and also the remittance which we discussed. Dear Colonel Steinberg,

I must ask you to forgive me for being 80 slow in answering your courteous and interesting letter of June 16th but as you can imagine pressure of work has been heavier than ever of recent weeks•

I am sincerely grateful to you for the interest which you take in the problem of answering Nasi (and, I might add, ”Communazi”) propaganda in the United States. This is, of course, a question which we have constantly in mind•Action on our part is difficult which does not lay us open to the charge of conducting organized propaganda to involve the United States in the war. Any steps which our American friends can take of their own ,volition are therefore naturally most welcome to us.

I have now a member of my staff, Mr. Huxley, who deals with matters of this kind, and if you are in Washington in the near future, I think that it would be useful if you had a talk with him.

Dear Mrs. Blaine:

Ue are tcMng the liberty of sending you t e •ncloaed naiorandm, outlining in brief the purposes of our Com- aittee which is now in the process of fornetlon. e wish to emphasize tk.t it is not our intention to add one n»re coxAttee to the asny already in existence and wAch deal, in one way or another, with the lewis’. problem in Europe. Our aim is to erente a body of public spirited Americans who would investi״: te every aspect of the Jew- ish question, open-nindedly and without preconceivad ide^s and then plan comprehensively the final solution of the problems involved.

Ve ere gratified by the response which our initiative has had thus far. A considerable number of personalities fran all walks of 7-nericon life have acce nted ueribarship in our Committee, pledging their cooperation and assist- anee, Among’ the: one aey find not only people of good will, but 100 persons highly qualified to deal with the problem which, by its very nature, is related to the world political scene and various sooial-ecoraraio phen- omena.

The Jewish problem in Europe is no longer exclusively Jewish. Its repercussi ns affect international relations. Its weight is felt on the scales of war and peace in the world. Should our ConrAttee succeed in achieving its aims,—naaely—to kelp effect the right solution to the age-old Jewish uroblen, it will have rendered an out- standing service not merely to Jewry but to hunanit. at large.

"70 need the cooperation of ell who seek to right a great wrong and at the sene tine to eliminate one of the causes of world unrest. May we have the benefit of

your cajisel and leadership as a member of our National Cbmoittee.

Tuesday, December 18, at 8:00 p.m., at this Foundation — Mr. Beni£h Epstein, member of Executive of N. Z. 0., will address the Metropolitan Hillel Alumni Forum on Zionism. He will discuss the ideology and program of the New Zionist Organization. I suggest that he speak for 30 minutes and devote another 30 minutes to questions and discussion.

The audience will consist of Jewish young men and women who have graduated from colleges through- out the country during the past three or four years and who are now residing in New York City. As these Alumni Forums are a new venture, I can not foresee how large an attendance there will be. I expect, however, from 50 to 100.

If you want any further information you could phone me any afternoon at this office.

Thanking you for your splendid co-operation and with kindest personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Victor Eppstein

Dear Mr• Sachs: - ’

Our mutual friend and my good comrade. Leo h. Strong, has spoken to me often of you and your public-spirited activities to make this a better world to live In• We Jewish War Veterans, an organisation founded nearly half a century ago by the Jewish sur- vivors of the,Civil ,war to combat anti-Semitism and for mutual aid and interests, have In the past fought for the interests of our people here in America and wherever In foreign countries they have been persecuted and oppressed•

And this we did out of the meagre income from our membership without any high priced, high pressure money-raisers or publicity promoters. Today we are confronted with a situation which 18 known to every Jew who doesn’t stuff his ears and shut his eyes to what is going on around him, and we are calling upon American Jewry for $250,000.00 (two million we should ask for) to establish militant units ojf American ex-servicemen of our faith in every part of the country, with particular reference to the deep South and the middle and southwest, where at present the voice of anbi- £ emit ism is heard without any organized Jewish effcr ts to check

We now have more than two hundred and fifty poste, and with the addition of another two hundred and fifty posts, composed in large measure of our sone who will shortly return victorious from all fighting fronts, we hope to be able to cope with the menace of Jew-phobia that is spreading like some dread disease while our boys are offering their all in sacrifice for our free institutions! In addition, we plan to create facilities for a liaison service between the returning veterans and all parts of veterans’ ser- vice facilities made available by a generous country•

It was my thought that if I could meet you and discuss our hopes and alms with you that you might be inclined to accord us the opportunity to meet with a group in your industry so that we might tell them of our organization and its activities•

A luncheon or a dinner, or even meeting with some of the leaders at a private home, would prove most revealing to you axd I do assure

-2- October 29th, 1943Ur• Samuel Sachs

you that no matter how active you have been In the past or what services you have rendered to the general cause of our people, you have never devoted yourself to a more worthy endeavor than that of aiding us In our campaign.Look ire forward to an early acknowledgment hereof and to the pleasure of meeting you.
