Science Film Festival 2011

Science Film Festival pada awalnya diadakan di Bangkok dengan tujuan mendorong kaum muda untuk memiliki rasa ingin tahu dan minat terhadap ilmu pengetahuan. Ke depannya, festival ini diharapkan dapat menunjukkan bahwa hiburan dan proses belajar dapat dikombinasikan secara effektif melalui media film dan televisi.

Tahun lalu Thailand berhasil menarik lebih dari 112.000 pengunjung. Kesuksesan penyelenggaran tersebut mendorong kelanjutan festival ini ke negara negara lain. Tahun ini, untuk pertama kalinya, Science Film Festival akan diadakan secara serentak di Thailand, Indonesia, Kamboja, Laos dan Philipina.

Festival ini adalah sebuah proyek “payung“ yang menyatukan acara pendidikan dan ilmu pengetahuan, dan membuka akses bagi inisiatif pengetahuan dan perayaan budaya dari berbagai pendekatan berbeda ke dunia komunikasi ilmu pengetahuan. Di masa depan, dimungkinkan untuk menambahkan pameran, pertunjukan, seminar, workshop, dan perlombaan menarik lainnya.

The Science Film Festival, originally initiated by the Goethe-Institut Thailand, aims to encourage young people to be curious and to have an interest in science. Furthermore it wishes to demonstrate that entertainment and learning can be combined effectively through film and the television media.

The successful implementation in Thailand encouraged the continuation of the festival in other Southeast Asian countries. In 2010 it took place in 4 ASEAN-countries, including Indonesia. In Jakarta alone it reached more than 13,000 children.

This year, for the first time, the festival will take place simultaneously in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines with an estimated 120,000 visitors, making it the largest event of its kind worldwide in terms of audience figures.

In Indonesia, the festival will travel to Ambon, Bandung, Gowa, Jakarta, Jayapura, Mataram, Pontianak, Salatiga, Samarinda, Sorong, Surabaya and Yogyakarta.
