Kadar aspal perlu diketahui sehingga dapat menentukan banyak aspal

dan agregat yang akan dipergunakan untuk suatu campuran. Untuk

mengetahui jumlah kadar aspal pada suatu campuran dengan agregat maka

dapat dipergunakan larutan CCL4 (Solvent) yang bersiat mudah menguap

namun tidak mudah terbakar! "enda yang telah disaring dengan cairan ini

akan dibagi menjadi dua (residu) yang tertahan dan yang lolos kertas saringakan berubah #arna menjadi jernih.
