    Keys lockThis feature avoids accidental key

    activation during recording orplayback.

    1. Press and hold MENU for 2seconds, LOCKED will be shown ondisplay. (LOCK icon will lit)2. Press and hold MENU for 2seconds again to unlock keys.

    TonesYou can activate this feature so thatbeep sound can be heard whenever youpress on any button except duringplayback and recording.

    Setting the time

    Year/Date/12/24/TimeSettingWith this function, you can alwaysread on the display the recording dateand time of your recorded messages.Follow the steps below for timesetting.

    You can still use this unit for normalrecording without setting the time.However, no correct recording date

    and time can be referred for yourrecorded messages and the display willkeep flashing when the unit is turnedoff.

    1. Turn on the unit.2. Press MENU repeatedly to enter

    Time setting mode.3. When 2003

    flashes, pressREVERSE orFORWARD tochange the year,press MENU toconfirm.

    4. Once the year isentered , thedigits in themonth field will

    blink (default is01). PressREVERSE orFORWARD to increase/decreasethe number, press MENU toconfirm.

    5. Once the month is entered, thedigits in the day will blink (while thedigits in the month field stopblinking). Press REVERSE orFORWARD to increase/decrease thenumber, press MENU to confirm.

    6. Once the date isentered, you canchoose between12/24 hour clockdisplay by pressingREVERSE /

    FORWARD, thenpress MENU to confirm.

    7. Once the time isentered, the digitsin the hour fieldwill blink (defaultsetting is 12 (12hour mode) & 0 (24hour mode). Press

    REVERSE or FORWARD to increase/decrease the number, press MENUto confirm.

    Manual recording1. In STOP mode, select a folder (A/B).

    2. Press RECORD to start recording.(recording time will be displayed onceyou press RECORD)3. To pause recording, you can pressRECORD once, press again to resumerecording.4. To stop recording, press STOP.

    Normal Playback1. In Stop mode, select a folder (A/B).

    Recording mode

    Setting RecordingModeYou can select between two recordingmodes - manual recording and AVR(automatic voice recording).

    1. Manual RecordingPlease refer to page 8.

    2. AVR (Automatic

    Voice Recording)This feature allows the unit to sensesound and to record only when youare speaking into the microphone.When dictation stops for about 3seconds, recording will stop and thenstart again automatically when youresume dictation.

    1. Select a folder (A/B).2. Press MENUuntil AVR showson display.3. Press REVERSEor FORWARD totoggle betweenAVR on and AVRoff.

    4. Press STOP toexit to STOPmode.5. Press RECORDto enter AVRmode.

    6. During recording,adjust the sensitivityof the microphone bypressing VOL UP andVOL DOWN,SEN withsensitivity value showson display (e.g. increase sensitivityvalue when recording source is farfrom the unit or the recordingenvionment is quiet.).7. Start dictation. Recording startsautomatically.

    8. Press STOP to end AVR recording.9. Repeat step 2 and select AVR OFFfor de-selection.

    You can select between threerecording qualities. Default is SP.

    Definition SP (Standard Play) - allows about 160min recording on RP5011. LP (Long Play) - allows about 220min recording on RP5011. HQ (High Quality) - allows about 60

    min recording on RP5011.

    Erasing file / folder

    Erasing selected fileYou can delete a file by the following

    steps:

    1. Select a folder (A/B)2. Select a file.3. Press ERASE onceand DEL will showon the screen.4. Press and holdERASE to confirmdeleting or press

    STOP to cancel.

    Erasing all files in afolderYou can delete all files in a specificfolder by the following steps:

    1. Turn on the unit.

    2. Select a folder (A/B).3. In Stop mode, press FORWARDcontinuously until ALL appears ondisplay.4. Press ERASE anddel will blink ondisplay.5. Press and holdERASE for about 2

    seconds, all files inthe selected folderwill be erased completely (or pressSTOP to cancel erasing all files).

    Troubleshooting tipsUnit doesnt turn on Check that batteries are properlyinserted and not exhausted.

    Make sure battery compartment dooris properly closed. Make sure the LOCK function is notactivated.

    Display keeps flashing when unit isoff You have not set the time. Referto section on Time Setting.

    Cannot record Make sure the LOCK function is notactivated. Make sure the memory is not full. Check the total files in all foldersnot exceeding 198. You have recorded 99 files in onefolder. Try record in a new folder.

    Cannot show recording date andtime during playback You have not set the date andtime before recording. Refer to thesection on Time Setting.

    No sound from the speaker duringplayback Make sure the volume level is not setto 0. Headphones is connected.

    Cannot activate the unit afterpressing ON keys There may be software problem.

    Remove batteries and wait for 30seconds to reset the unit, then re-install batteries and try again.

    Recordable timebecomes shorter You have set the recordingquality to High Quality, refer tosection Setting Recording Quality.

    Cannot perform playback Make sure you have selected folderwith recorded messages. Make sure the LOCK function is notactivated.

    Cannot erase recorded file(s) Make sure you follow each stepunder section Erasing Selected File

    carefully.

    Precautions for the Unit Do not use the unit immediately
