TEMAN-TEMAN, Media Anak baru saja menggelar acara seru yakni Pentas Media Anak.

Acara ini merupakan hasil kerja sama Media Indonesia dan Miniapolis, Plaza Indonesia.

ini, ya!Minggu, 23 Oktober lalu, sejak pukul

09.00 WIB, arena Hideout Miniapolis, Plaza Indonesia, sudah ramai didatangi

anak-anak bersama para orang tua mereka. Mereka adalah para peserta

lomba menggambar dan finalis ajang story telling Pentas Media Anak.

Mengangkat tema Aku Cinta Indonesia, acara yang disponsori Curcuma Plus Multivitamin Anak, KFC, Erlangga For Kids, Indomilk, Inaco, Sekar Harum, Chewy Candy Kino, dan Frutzz ini ingin mengajak anak-anak untuk lebih mengenal dan mencintai tanah air sendiri.

Sekitar pukul 10.30 WIB, setelah mendapat pengarahan dari Kak Tiyok, lomba menggambar yang diikuti 102 peserta dimulai. Oh iya, Kak Tiyok ini adalah Ilustrator Harian Media Indonesia, yang juga menjadi juri untuk lomba

menggambar kali ini. Wah, ternyata pengetahuan teman-

teman peserta tentang budaya Indonesia cukup bagus! Banyak di

antara mereka yang memasukkan berbagai atribut seni dan

budaya lokal, seperti busana kebaya, rumah adat Papua, ukiran khas Kalimantan, hingga barongsai Bali.

Setelah lomba menggambar selesai dan istirahat makan siang, tiba giliran para finalis lomba story telling yang tampil untuk unjuk kebolehan mereka bercerita atau mendongeng. Mereka adalah para peserta yang lolos di babak penyisihan dari 47 orang yang berpartisipasi pada 16 Oktober 2010.

Semua cerita yang dibawakan diambil dari naskah Fun With English yang terbit di halaman Media Anak setiap Minggu. Ada peserta yang tetap menggunakan bahasa Inggris, tapi ada juga yang menerjemahkannya ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Semuanya oke.

Para finalis ini tampil sangat kreatif. Mereka juga membawa berbagai perlengkapan untuk mendukung penampilan saat bercerita di atas panggung. Seperti Rozan, 7, siswa kelas 2 SD yang membawa karung-karung dan bola. Meski paling kecil dan berusia paling muda daripada peserta lain, Rozan bercerita dengan suara lantang dan penuh

percaya diri. Gaya berceritanya yang kocak membuat juri dan para penonton tertawa.

Sambil menunggu pengumuman pemenang, para peserta lomba dan penonton diberi kesempatan mengikuti games seru yang disiapkan panitia.

Selain itu semua, yang hadir juga mendapat kejutan yang menyenangkan dengan kehadiran Umay. Artis cilik yang baru merilis album ini menghibur penonton dengan menyanyikan beberapa buah lagu dari album terbarunya.

Inilah para pemenang sesuai kategori lomba masing-masing.

Serunya Pentas Media Anak

RAIN was fall-ing down for days. People in Sema-rang, Central Java, just stayed

at home and could not do anything. They were worried. Usually, when rain was fall-ing down heavily, the area was fl ooded. They hoped rain would stop soon.

Rain fi nally stopped. Sadly, the area was fl ooded. People worked and helped each other. They also provided food and medi-cine. And after several days, the fl ood was gone. The area was dried. However, there was so much mud and garbage left because of the fl ood.

At the time, the Dutch occupied the area. They wanted to solve the problem. They were planning to make water channels. It functions like rivers. They hoped when water was overfl owing the river, water would fl ow through the channels and it went to the sea. They were planning to build two channels, one in the east and one in the west.

People worked together. At fi rst, they built the channel in the east. They needed several months. They worked hard. They were tired of fl ood. And they really hoped that the channels would help to solve their fl ood problem.

The villagers were digging the lands horizontally. The line was kilometers away.

It connected the big river with the

sea. And after work-ing hard for several months,

the channel in the east fi nally fi nished. Everybody was happy.

Afterwards, they were going to build the channel in the west.

They started digging the lands. At fi rst it ran well. They were digging and they put the land on the sides of the channel surface. Strangely, something happened. After they fi nished digging the land and wanted to continue digging horizontally, the land on the surface always fell down and slid.

Everybody was confused. They tried to dig back but right after they fi nished dig-ging, the land on the surface always fell down and slid.

“What should we do? We don’t make any progress,” said one villager.

“Yes, you are right. I’m also tired of doing the same again and again,” said another villager.

“Hey, do you know about Ki Sanak?”“Who is he?”“He is a holy man. I heard he can solve

any problems. Why don’t we go to his house and talk about our problems?”

“Yes, I agree!”Some of the villagers went to Ki Sanak’s

house. When they met him, they told him

about the problem. After Ki Sanak heard about the problem, he asked them to do something.

“I want you to do something. Take one stone in each side of my house, one in the left and one in the right. Bring them here,” asked Ki Sanak.

The villagers took two stones, one in the left side of the house and one in the right of the house. Later Ki Sanak prayed. The villagers were looking at each other. They were wondering what would happen next. Later, Ki Sanak talked.

“Bring these stones. Put one stone on each side of the channel, one on the left and one of the right,” said Ki Sanak.

The villagers said thank you. They im-mediately went back to the digging site. They told other villagers about the stones. They put the stones on each side.

Amazingly, the land on the surface stopped falling down. They all were happy. They continued digging and fi nished the channel. Finally the channel was com-pletely fi nished. And when rain fell down, water was running through the channels. It worked! The area was not fl ooded any-more.

Meanwhile, people named the area of west channel as Lemah Gempal. It means the land which falls down. The place is in Semarang, Central Java.
