ABSTRACT
THE CORRELATION BETWEEN MOTHER’S KNOWLEDGE AND ATTENTION
TO POSYANDU ACTIVITIES DUE THE TODDLER NUTRICIAN STATUS ON
CAKRANEGARA MATARAM
Background, Objectives. Nutrition is one of the determinants of the quality of human
resources. Malnutrition will cause the failure of physical growth and intellectual development
lower productivity and lower the immune system resulting in increased morbidity and
mortality. The incidence of malnutrition in Indonesia was ranked 142 of 170 countries and
lowest in ASEAN. Data WHO says the incidence of malnutrition among children under five
increased by 8.3 % in 2002 and 27 % less nutrition. Efforts by the government emphasis on
the use of simple nutrition messages through activities that can be done by the community.
The activity was concentrated in the neighborhood health center. Therefore, knowledge and
attitude of mothers in following growth monitoring sessions will relate to the circumstances
toddler 's nutritional status, because one posyandu purpose is to monitor the nutritional status
of the community improvement especially toddlers. The purpose of this study was to
determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude of mothers towards growth
monitoring sessions with nutritional status of children in health centers Cakranegara Mataram
City.
Research Methods. This study is observational analytic cross-sectional study design is done
on mothers who have children and take part in neighborhood health center in Puskesmas
Cakranegara. Data collection was conducted through direct interviews to 98 samples were
selected by proportional random sampling method. Data analysis was performed using SPSS
Results and Conclusions. From the results of Spearman's test showed that there is a
significant relationship between Knowledge Capital of the growth monitoring sessions with
nutritional status of children, which found the value 0.000 p value < α ( 0.05 ) and a
significant correlation between attitudes towards growth monitoring sessions with Mrs.
nutritional status of children, where the obtained value of 0.001 p value < α ( 0.05 ).
